Celebrating 25 Years of Dance Afloat: Debbie’s Journey of Passion and Purpose

This year marks a very special milestone for Debbie as she celebrates 25 years in business with her company, Dance Afloat. A journey built on a lifelong love of dance, adventure, and sharing that passion with others.

Debbie’s love of dance began at just 8 years old, setting her on a path to becoming a professional dancer. But it wasn’t just about performing, it was about sharing the joy of dance, helping others discover the confidence and happiness that moving to music brings.

In 1996, Debbie began working for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, starting in Head Office in the reservations department. It wasn’t long before life took an exciting turn. Alongside her late husband, Kevin, Debbie moved from land to sea, working onboard Fred. Olsen’s ship Black Watch. Together, they combined their love of travel, performing, and teaching, quickly becoming a much-loved part of life at sea.

From these beginnings, Dance Afloat was born. Debbie’s mission has always been clear: to keep the world dancing. Whether it’s teaching absolute beginners their first steps or helping experienced dancers master new styles, Debbie’s passion is helping people find joy through dance. For her, it’s not just about steps and routines, it’s about building confidence, creating connection, and bringing fun to everyone who joins her on the dance floor.

Now, 25 years later, Debbie continues to inspire dancers of all ages and abilities, spreading her love of dance across oceans and around the world. Dance Afloat has touched the lives of thousands, helping people make memories one dance step at a time.

Here’s to Debbie’s incredible 25-year journey and to many more years of keeping the world dancing.

It all started on Fred Olsen.

YOUR JOURNEY

14 FEBRUARY departing SOUTHAMPTON, UK

Some of the best moments of cruising are the days spent at sea where you can relax and enjoy the wonderful programme of events and activities available.

15 - 16 FEBRUARY ANTWERP, BELGIUM

The medieval city of Antwerp has much to offer with magnificent monuments and narrow streets to explore, and lovers of art and diamonds, with over 80% of the world’s rough diamonds passing through the diamond district, thus cementing its place as the international centre of the diamond industry. Antwerp is also famous for its Belgian chocolate, which, and over time, has been refined from a tonic used by pharmacists into the deliciously smooth praline sold in the many quaint chocolate shops in the city.

CRUISING RIVER SEINE, FRANCE

Flowing through the countryside of Normandy’s Parc naturel régional des Boucles de la Seine, the route Fred. Olsen’s smaller ships sail along the River Seine - connecting the historic cities of Honfleur and Rouen offers guests scenic

cruising to enjoy in comfort, often accompanied by commentary from our on board team. Simply sit back, relax and take in scenes of rolling valleys and charming villages dotted with historic churches and traditional houses that have inspired many famous artists over the years, including Claude Monet and Henri Matisse. Even in the winter months, there is still much to see from on board your chosen Fred. Olsen cruise ship.

17- 18 FEBRUARY ROUEN, FRANCE

The beautiful city of Rouen – known as the ‘City of a Hundred Bells’ is a hugely significant and historical destination, particularly prominent in both the Roman times and Middle Ages. Home to the imposing Cathédrale Notre-Dame, painted by Claude Monet, who grew up in Normandy; Rouen is also gateway to the French capital of Paris and its plethora of well-known cultural sights.
