Linz Although immensely proud of its industrial past, Linz is a city that doesn’t rely on its history. Don’t get us wrong, it’s there for everyone to enjoy, but there’s more than one eye on tomorrow thanks to a vibrant arts and culture scene that helped it become European Capital of Culture in 2019. There’s even a Museum of the Future (Museum der Zukunft) that perfectly encompasses this forward-thinking attitude. Estonia Fresh from celebrating 100 years of independence from Russia in 2018, Estonia continues to flourish since its release from Soviet rule. The usual grey associated with cities that spent time behind the iron curtain is nowhere to be seen, superseded by colourful buildings and a thriving art scene that give the country its own unique identity. Dunkirk & Lille Dunkirk will forever be intrinsically linked to WWII, thanks to the heroic actions by allied forces to evacuate over 300,000 men from the area. Obviously, you can see the memorials and tributes situated around the town, but it’s worth looking past this historic event to see what else you can find. Dortmund Dortmund is very proud of the industrial heritage that took the city to where it is today. Former steelworks, coal mines and breweries have been regenerated to help tell this story whilst also offering modern attractions for today’s visitors to enjoy.
