Eco Cork

We use 20% less plastic by mixing cork into our EPS. Cork is a fantastic natural material that comes from the bark of oak trees with a rapid regeneration cycle. Known for its shock absorption characteristics, flotation capacity & fungicide properties, cork is a material that lends itself perfectly to the specific needs of our helmets.

WIP’s R&D department has succeeded in integrating cork from industrial waste, into our products, creating an eco-friendly helmet that also looks the part!

hardshells are more resistant to impact then polycarbonate shells making them ideal for multi-impact uses, however they are also heavier.

in helmets refers to the use of Expanded Polystyrene foam, which absorbs

lot of the impact. Absorption capacities are better than the EPP but after a crash, you have to replace the helmet because the EPS’s structure breaks.

is a special foam that can absorb impacts multiple times without losing its protective abilities. Less absorption capacities then EPS on single shocks but more durable for usages with multiple impacts.

Bump Shell

Design inspired by a shell rib structure

The BUMP SHELL is developed based on the concept of “biomimicry”, which is the application of the mechanisms of the natural world to technological development. It incorporates a special rib structure in its design that mimics the structure of scallop shells, which is part of the material used for helmet production. As a result, the durability of the shell is improved by about 30% compared to the case without the rib structure, even though less material is used.

UV / HEV LIGHT THAT IS FILTERED

Full light spectrum with excessive yellow light hits the lens which filters it reducing the yellow and tuning the color. Ultra-violet light is also filtered. This results in enhanced contrast which favors the spotting of race buoys and tracking wind gusts.

IT’S ALL ABOUT INNOVATION AND PERFORMANCE

The aerodynamic drag becomes a real topic for high speed sailing sports (above 30knots apparent wind). We use our experience in material research and product development, combine it with that of our athletes and scientific experts in the WIP Lab, to create solutions that compliment this new world and be at the forefront of performance and innovation. Together we are able to identify new needs and drive new ideas to support our Aero Flow Vortex Gear Technology, a material specifically created to enhance aerodynamic properties.

Strategically placed 3D chevrons positively affect airflow around the body reducing drag (13%) at speeds relevant to the target rider. Vortices pull the fast moving air closer to the rider enhancing airflow.
