​Dear​​Fellow​​Forwardians,​ ​ elcome​ ​to​ ​the​ ​October​ ​2026​ ​issue​ ​of​ ​The​ ​Forwardian​ ​Gazette​​.​ ​This​ ​month​ ​marks​ ​a​ W ​monumental​ ​milestone​ ​for​ ​our​ ​community​ ​as​ ​we​ ​celebrate​ ​our​ ​25th​ ​Anniversary!​ ​The​ ​Forwardian​ ​Arts​ ​Society​ ​(originally​ ​founded​ ​as​ ​The​ ​Forwardian​ ​Society)​ ​was​ ​established​ ​in​ ​October​ ​2001.​ ​Our​ ​organization​ ​was​ ​born​ ​from​ ​a​ ​passionate​ ​desire​ ​to​ ​create​ ​a​ ​welcoming,​ ​inclusive​ ​environment​ ​where​ ​creatives​ ​could​ ​freely​ ​share​ ​their​ ​talents​ ​and​ ​art​ ​lovers​ ​could​ ​experience​​their​​work.​​From​​those​​very​​early​​days,​​we​​made​​a​​core​​commitment​​that​​everything​ ​we​​offer​​would​​remain​​completely​​free​​of​​charge,​​ensuring​​that​​everyone​​in​​our​​community​​can​ ​participate​​regardless​​of​​their​​economic​​circumstances.​​A​​quarter​​of​​a​​century​​later,​​that​​mission​ ​remains​​at​​the​​heart​​of​​everything​​we​​do.​ ​ ver​​the​​past​​25​​years,​​we​​have​​achieved​​extraordinary​​milestones​​together,​​uniting​​creators​​and​ O ​art​​enthusiasts​​through​​a​​wide​​array​​of​​programs:​ ​●​ ​Interactive​ ​Salons:​ ​Warm​​gatherings​​where​​local​​artists​​and​​art​​lovers​​connect​​to​​share​ ​creative​​works,​​exchange​​insights,​​and​​build​​community​​bonds.​ ​●​ ​“ArtSmash​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Poconos”​ ​Festivals:​ ​Dynamic​ ​multi-venue​ ​festivals​ ​highlighting​ ​diverse​​artistic​​talent​​across​​our​​region.​ ​●​ ​“Forwardian”​​Magazine:​​A​​dedicated​​literary​​and​​arts​​publication​​showcasing​​authors,​ ​poets,​​painters,​​photographers,​​and​​illustrators.​ ​●​ ​Art​ ​&​ ​Photography​ ​Exhibitions:​ ​Public​ ​displays​ ​across​ ​various​ ​settings​ ​that​ ​bring​ ​visual​​art​​directly​​to​​the​​community.​ ​●​ ​Forwardian​​Film​​Festival:​​Screenings​​that​​elevate​​independent​​cinema​​from​​both​​local​ ​and​​international​​filmmakers.​

​ hrough​​these​​initiatives,​​we​​have​​provided​​hundreds​​of​​artists​​with​​a​​platform​​to​​gain​​visibility​ T ​while​​offering​​accessible,​​inspiring​​cultural​​experiences​​to​​thousands​​of​​community​​members.​ ​ e​ ​are​ ​deeply​ ​grateful​ ​for​ ​the​ ​opportunity​ ​to​ ​serve​ ​our​ ​vibrant​ ​creative​ ​community​ ​over​ ​the​ W ​years.​ ​As​ ​previously​ ​shared,​ ​we​ ​are​ ​dedicated​ ​to​ ​reintroducing​ ​these​ ​cherished​ ​initiatives​ ​and​ ​continually​ ​expanding​ ​their​ ​scope.​ ​Although​ ​we​ ​encountered​ ​setbacks—including​ ​a​ ​hiatus​ ​following​ ​Paul’s​ ​retirement​ ​in​ ​2021—his​ ​return​ ​has​ ​reignited​ ​our​ ​mission​ ​with​ ​fresh​ ​vigor.​ ​Today,​ ​we​ ​are​ ​reinvigorating​ ​the​ ​Forwardian​ ​Arts​ ​Society​ ​to​ ​cultivate​ ​stronger​ ​collaborations,​ ​empower​​local​​talent,​​and​​broaden​​our​​cultural​​impact​​for​​future​​generations.​ ​ ur​ ​journey​​has​​not​​been​​without​​technical​​hurdles,​​most​​recently​​the​​loss​​of​​our​​domain​​name​ O ​and​ ​primary​ ​website​ ​communication​ ​channels.​ ​However,​ ​these​ ​challenges​ ​have​ ​only​ ​served​ ​to​ ​highlight​ ​our​ ​resilience​ ​and​ ​commitment​ ​to​ ​our​ ​mission.​ ​We​ ​are​ ​actively​ ​executing​ ​strategic​ ​plans​ ​to​ ​re-establish​​and​​modernize​​our​​digital​​infrastructure.​​Beyond​​simply​​restoring​​our​​web​ ​presence,​ ​we​ ​are​ ​building​ ​a​ ​more​ ​dynamic​ ​online​ ​platform​ ​to​ ​deepen​​community​​engagement,​ ​launch​​interactive​​virtual​​channels,​​and​​connect​​with​​creatives​​and​​art​​enthusiasts​​wherever​​they​ ​are.​ I​ n​ ​September,​ ​we​ ​made​ ​significant​ ​progress​ ​toward​ ​formalizing​ ​our​ ​Volunteer​ ​Bill​ ​of​ ​Rights​ ​alongside​​a​​comprehensive​​operational​​roadmap.​​While​​other​​organizations​​may​​view​​volunteers​ ​as​ ​unstructured​ ​"free​ ​labor",​ ​The​ ​Forwardian​ ​Arts​ ​Society​ ​explicitly​ ​rejects​ ​this​ ​approach,​ ​choosing​ ​instead​ ​to​ ​treat​ ​our​ ​volunteers​ ​as​​essential,​​valued​​stakeholders.​​By​​establishing​​clear​ ​structures​ ​and​ ​protective​ ​boundaries,​ ​this​ ​framework​ ​guards​ ​our​ ​community​ ​against​ ​role​ ​overload,​​burnout,​​onboarding​​gaps,​​and​​unbudgeted​​out-of-pocket​​expenses.​ ​ o​ ​operationalize​ ​these​ ​values,​ ​the​ ​framework​ ​establishes​ ​clear​ ​role​ ​boundaries,​ ​structured​ T ​onboarding,​​workload​​caps,​​and​​expense​​protections.​​It​​also​​ensures​​safe​​feedback​​channels​​and​ ​aligns​ ​volunteer​ ​goals​ ​with​ ​meaningful​ ​tasks.​ ​By​ ​embedding​ ​these​ ​standards​ ​into​ ​our​ ​routine​ ​practices,​ ​the​ ​Society​ ​empowers​ ​contributors,​ ​safeguards​ ​their​ ​well-being,​ ​and​ ​builds​ ​a​ ​sustainable,​​respectful​​foundation​​for​​our​​shared​​future.​ ​Important​​Reminder​ ​ lease​ ​submit​ ​all​​items​​for​​the​​November​​issue—including​​event​​listings​​and​​"Cover​​to​​Cover"​ P ​competition​​entries—by​​October​​15th.​​More​​details​​are​​provided​​later​​in​​this​​newsletter.​ ​ s​ ​we​ ​reflect​ ​on​ ​twenty-five​ ​years​ ​of​ ​shared​ ​creativity,​ ​we​ ​look​ ​forward​ ​to​ ​an​ ​even​ ​brighter​ A ​future​​filled​​with​​artistic​​discovery,​​collaborative​​expression,​​and​​new​​opportunities.​​Together,​​let​ ​us​​continue​​to​​nurture​​and​​celebrate​​the​​transformative​​power​​of​​the​​arts​​in​​our​​community.​ ​Thank​​you​​for​​your​​continued​​dedication​​to​​the​​arts.​ ​ our​​Pal,​ Y ​Paul​

​ he​​Entertainers​​of​​the​​Poconos​​Indie​​Coalition​​(EPIC),​ T ​led​ ​by​ ​writer​ ​and​ ​musician​ ​Jessica​ ​Delfino,​ ​met​ ​on​ ​Saturday,​ ​August​ ​29th,​ ​at​ ​Bryant​ ​Park​ ​in​ ​Stroudsburg,​ ​PA,​ ​to​ ​organize​ ​the​ ​Witches​ ​Walkabout​ ​and​ ​Twilight​ ​Trade​ ​Faire.​ ​Proposed​ ​dates​ ​for​ ​the​ ​event​ ​are​ ​Friday,​ ​October​ ​23rd​ ​(4–9​​PM)​​or​​Sunday,​​November​​1st​​(1–5​ ​PM).​ ​To​ ​support​ ​local​ ​creatives​ ​and​​economic​​growth,​ ​organizers​​are​​recruiting​​20​​vendors​​at​​$25​​each​​to​​fund​ ​promotion​ ​for​ ​this​​free​​community​​event​​featuring​​live​ ​entertainment.​

​OUR​​FORWARDIAN​​JUDGE​​FOR​​OCTOBER​ ​ elly​​Betschen​​is​​a​​Buffalo,​​NY​​based​​artist.​​She​​is​​a​​well​​versed​​artist​​that​​works​ K ​with​​many​​different​​mediums​​including​​pen​​and​​pencil,​​oil​​and​​acrylic​​paint,​​metal​ ​and​​fabric.​​Along​​with​​the​​fine​​arts,​​Kelly​​has​​worked​​on​​costume​​design,​​jewelry​ ​making​ ​and​ ​stage​ ​prop​ ​design.​ ​Kelly​ ​is​​a​​mother​​of​​three​​who​​loves​​teaching​​and​ ​working​ ​with​ ​children.​ ​Kelly​ ​has​ ​had​ ​her​ ​work​ ​displayed​ ​all​ ​over​ ​the​ ​world​ ​including​ ​Russia​ ​and​ ​Latvia.​ ​Her​ ​dance​ ​props​ ​and​ ​costumes​ ​can​ ​recently​​be​​seen​ ​on​ ​stage​ ​with​ ​Dansations​ ​WNY.​ ​Her​ ​current​ ​work​ ​can​ ​be​ ​found​ ​on​ ​KellyBetschenArt.com​​and​​on​​Facebook​​and​​Instagram​​@kellybetschenart.​
