CLUB MISSION
“Forsyth Country Club is a premier private country club featuring an A.W. Tillinghast/Donald Ross Golf Course and other excellent facilities to provide outstanding social, recreational, and wellness experiences for members, their families, and guests ”
FROM THE BOARD
On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for choosing Forsyth Country Club as your home away from home. As a community, we enjoy an environment rooted in the timeless values of Excellence, Respect, and Tradition. These guiding principles are the foundation of our rich history and the compass that guides us to an even brighter future Our shared culture is not accidental It is intentional, carefully cultivated, and preserved through the daily choices we make as members.
As part of the Club’s recently adopted Cultural Strategy & Implementation Plan, the Board and our dedicated leadership and operations teams focus on several critical objectives: Education and Communication – Ensuring members, employees, and prospective members understand and embrace the values that define Forsyth; Consistency in Operations – Aligning daily decision-making and service delivery with our cultural north stars; and
Long-Term Preservation – Safeguarding our culture through clear rules and policies, thoughtful leadership, and active engagement.
A key part of this plan is your continued observance of the Club’s rules and policies While rules can be viewed as limitations, in our context they serve as meaningful reminders of the behaviors and standards that elevate our collective member experience. These guidelines ensure that every visit reflects the civility, refinement, and sense of belonging that have long been Forsyth’s hallmark. The Board has established a committee to assist in further defining Excellence, Respect, and Tradition for our community.
We are exceptionally fortunate that deviations from our cultural norms are rare. However, when they occur, we follow a fair and thorough process to address concerns Members receive clear notice, matters are investigated with care, and decisions are made to reinforce – not diminish – our shared values. This process protects the integrity of our club and ensures that we enforce policies in ways that are consistent with the expectations of our membership and align with the collegial, family-friendly atmosphere we all expect.
Our culture thrives not simply because of rules alone, but because of your efforts to consistently emulate these values throughout every visit to the Club. From the courtesy and care extended to our golf course and all facilities, to your chosen club attire, to the warmth shown to our operations team and your fellow members, and the respect and courtesy modeled in every corner of our campus, it is your example that shapes the member experience for others. By upholding Forsyth’s standards of Excellence, Respect, and Tradition, each of you helps maintain a community where families and our guests can gather with confidence, pride, and enjoyment.
The Board extends our deep gratitude for your continued commitment and dedication. Whether welcoming a new member, encouraging a junior golfer, or simply enjoying your club in a manner becoming of our traditions, your actions ensure that we preserve and strengthen what makes Forsyth special for future generations.
Together, we are stewards of something larger than ourselves Forsyth Country Club’s culture has endured for more than 110 years and, with your support, will continue to flourish for generations to come. Thank you for modeling the behavior that makes our club the extraordinary place we are all proud to call our own.
-Michelle Clifton, Club President
FROM THE COO
As we continue working to enhance the overall member experience, Food and Beverage operations remain a top priority. Over the past several months, our team has taken important steps toward improvement strengthening training, refining processes, and enhancing accountability across all dining outlets. While we are encouraged by this progress, we also recognize that there is more work to be done to fully reach the level of consistency and excellence our members expect and deserve.
Under the direction of Zachary Crum, Assistant General Manager, and Lance Cook, Director of Culinary Operations, we are implementing a comprehensive plan to strengthen every aspect of our dining program. Their leadership and collaboration is instrumental in setting clear expectations, developing improved systems, and providing the daily guidance needed to achieve meaningful, lasting improvement.
To further support these efforts, we have made a leadership change within our management team. The position of Director of Clubhouse Operations has transitioned, and Kelley Williams will now serve as our Interim Director of Clubhouse Operations. Kelley is a Certified Club Manager (CCM) with more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality and private club industries. Her leadership background includes roles at Old North State Club in North Carolina, Carlouel Beach & Yacht Club in Florida, and the University of South Carolina.
Kelley brings a wealth of expertise in training, staff development, and Food and Beverage operations, with a career focused on elevating service and team culture. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes collaboration, professional growth, and attention to detail key elements that will guide our continued progress.
As we move forward, our leadership team will be focused on several key priorities:
Refining service standards through hands-on coaching and daily leadership presence on the floor.
Enhancing pre-shift communication and training to improve consistency and clarity across all outlets.
Expanding member feedback loops to ensure we are responding thoughtfully and promptly to opportunities for growth.
Strengthening teamwork and accountability to deliver a seamless and enjoyable dining experience for every member and guest.
We are grateful for the continued efforts of our management and service teams, and for the invaluable feedback from members that helps guide our improvement Meaningful progress takes time, but with a united focus and strong leadership, we are confident in the direction we are headed.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to elevate Forsyth’s proud tradition of excellence one step, one meal, and one experience at a time
As the year winds down, I find myself filled with gratitude for all that we’ve accomplished together at Forsyth Country Club in 2025. The past eleven months have been marked by strong fellowship, exciting programs, and meaningful progress across our Club, and none of it would have been possible without the support and engagement of our members.
November at FCC
November always carries a special rhythm at Forsyth. From crisp fall afternoons on the course to fireside gatherings in the Centennial Bar, this season reminds us of tradition and community. Our Thanksgiving Buffet remains one of the most cherished club experiences, where families gather to share a meal prepared with great care by our culinary team. We look forward to celebrating with you again this year, whether you’re joining us for the holiday buffet or carrying home the flavors of FCC with our popular Thanksgiving To Go offerings.
The Spirit of December
As December arrives, the Club comes alive with the joy and sparkle of the season. From the very beginning, December features something for everyone! Whether the Holiday Classic Golf tournament, bridge holiday luncheons, the annual Tea Dance, or the spectacular Christmas Gala on December 20th, there will be a plethora of spirited evenings across the Club throughout the best month of the year!
Looking Ahead to 2026
While we close out 2025, we also look forward with great anticipation to the opportunities ahead. The new year brings fresh programs, enhanced facilities, and more moments designed to connect our community. Your participation, feedback, and enthusiasm continue to guide us as we strive for excellence in everything we do.
On behalf of our Board of Directors, Leadership Team, and staff, I want to thank you for making Forsyth Country Club a place defined by Excellence, Respect, and Tradition. May your holidays be filled with joy, peace, and time with those who matter most.

CULINARY
Sous Vide, also known as low temperature long time (LTLT) cooking, is a method of cooking in which food is placed in a plastic pouch or a glass jar and cooked in a water bath for longer than usual cooking times (usually 1 to 7 hours, up to 48 or more in some cases) at an accurately regulated temperature. The temperature is much lower than usually used for cooking, typically around 55 to 60 °C (131 to 140 °F) for meat, and higher for vegetables. The intent is to cook the item evenly, ensuring that the inside is properly cooked without overcooking the outside, and to retain moisture.
You can maintain the temperature of an item and have it ready to use at a moments notice (i e if dinner is pushed back and you’re waiting for guests to arrive - this allows you to have more socializing time prior to dinner so you’re not stuck in the kitchen, etc.)
Here is a great Sous Vide steak recipe: I personally use the Anova Sous Vide Precision Thermal Circulator (www.anovaculinary.com)
Ingredients for 1 steak
1 (8- to 12-ounce) boneless tenderloin, ribeye, or strip steak
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil or vegetable oil
Set the thermal immersion circulator (sous vide machine) to 130ºF (54.4ºC) or just below (2 to 4 degrees below) desired doneness temperature (to account for the final searing of the protein before serving).
Generously season the steak with salt and pepper. Place in a medium zipper lock or vacuum seal bag. Seal the bag using the water immersion technique (slowly lowering into the water both to extinguish air pocket and seal) or a vacuum sealer on the dry setting.
Place the bag in the water bath and set the timer for 2 hours.
When the timer goes off, remove the bag from the water bath. Remove the steak from the bag and pat very dry with paper towels. Season again if desired.
Heat oil in a medium cast-iron skillet over high heat. When the oil is shimmering, add the steak and sear until well-browned, about 30 seconds per side. Transfer steak to a cutting board and let rest for 5 minutes. Serve and enjoy!

COURSE
Fall is in the air at FCC! The extreme summer heat has finally subsided, and as the leaves begin to change color, we’re enjoying some of the best golfing weather of the year With the arrival of cooler temperatures, our maintenance focus shifts slightly across the course.
Warm-season grasses throughout the property have slowed their growth significantly following our first frost of the season. Meanwhile, cool-season fescues around the clubhouse and golf course are thriving working hard to recover from summer stress before winter sets in. These areas have recently been aerated, fertilized, and seeded to promote healthy growth going into the colder months.
You may recall our August announcement about the new native fescue area on Hole #15. That project has been completed and seeded as of late September and is now in its “grow-in” phase. Over the coming months, the juvenile fescue will continue to mature and develop a strong root system to withstand next summer’s heat.
As in previous years, the driving range tees have been overseeded with perennial ryegrass, providing a more stable and aesthetically pleasing hitting surface through the winter. In addition, the fairway sections of the range mats were replaced in early October. We are proud to utilize the industry-leading Turfhound mat system while exceptionally durable, even these top-tier surfaces require replacement every 3–4 years due to heavy use.
Finally, please join me in congratulating Golf Course Superintendent, Terry Woods! Terry was one of only 50 superintendents and assistant superintendents nationwide selected to attend the 2025 Green Start Academy in Pinehurst, NC. This prestigious three-day educational and re

RACQUETS
We are truly in full swing right now. This is the time of the year we have all three of sports within the Racquets Department: 1) Tennis (year-round), 2) Pickleball (year-round), and 3) Platform Tennis, “paddle” (typically November to February).
With the addition of the paddle programming, our winter schedule will include paddle and pickleball quadrants, the Women’s Blizzard and Men’s Slush Bowls, evening adult events, an APTA National tournament, separate women’s and men’s Paddle Club Championships, some out-oftown men’s paddle interclub matches, and lots of open play and lessons.
If you would like to play on one of the paddle courts, either go on the app (online booking) or contact the Pro Shop for a reservation. Like our tennis and pickleball court reservations, you may book a court for up to one week in advance Weekday evening reservations must be booked for either 5:30 pm - 7 pm, 7 pm - 8:30 pm, or 8:30 pm - 10 pm. This block time allows us to maximize the number of reservations we can make each weekday night. However, weekend reservations may be made on the ½ hour anytime between 8 am -8:30 pm.
On behalf of the racquets staff: Jennifer, Sean, Nathan, Drew, Mike, Bill, Kristi, Sam, Robyn, and Simon, I would like to thank everyone who supported the program this year and we wish you and yours a joyous holiday season.
2025 Men’s Gut Bowl Results & History
Congratulations Gentlemen! For the 19th time in the last 20 years, Forsyth defeated Old Town in the annual Men’s Tennis Gut Bowl competition! The combined spring and fall gave us the winning score of 11 matches to 9
The Gut Bowl was first held in 1965 and records indicate that it has been played during 52 of those years. Forsyth has won 37 to Old Town’s 14, with 3 years resulting in a tie.
Thank you to everyone who played and I look forward to continuing the tradition next year for the 61st edition of the Men’s Tennis Gut Bowl.
2025 Women’s Tennis Mint Julep Cup Results
Congratulations Ladies! Forsyth also won the Women’s Tennis Mint Julep Cup against Old Town for 2025! This competition also has a long history, and with our 206 to 178 win, Forsyth CC now has 3 out of the 4 trophies against Old Town.
The quadrants are designed to have you play different people each round based on your prior round results. You will start in the position you finished the last quadrant (new players who have never played in the quadrant will be placed at their level). This will be a great way to play two fun yet competitive self-scheduled matches per month and play with some different people throughout the fall/winter.
Open enrollment started on October 1st and runs until October 30th. After that date, additional enrollments will need to start at the bottom Cost is $25 (includes 8 matches and balls)
