FROM THE BOARD
There is a specific feeling of excitement this time of year as the last of the winter frost finally thaws. As I walk around our beautiful campus, I can feel that spring is officially in the air The fairways are beginning to “wake up,” and the clubhouse is humming with the energy of a new season. I realize how fortunate I am to be a member of Forsyth Country Club.
It is a distinct honor to write to you for the first time as Board President. Taking on this leadership role is particularly meaningful because my father served as President exactly 20 years ago. While I am stepping into a new role, Forsyth Country Club has been my second home for over 45 years.
Honoring Our Foundation & Moving Forward
We owe a debt of gratitude to our outgoing Board members, Josh Crane, Dr. John Fagg, Tim Nerhood, and Russ Towner, for their wonderful contributions. Building on that foundation and the legacy of our former President, Michelle Clifton, your new Board is dedicated to a philosophy of constant improvement Our goal is to never stand still. We are committed to execution at a high level, from course aesthetics to dining room service. We will consistently elevate the member experience. Whether it is a major capital project or a small refinement in how we greet you at the bag drop, our focus is on making every visit feel more special than the last

Please join me in thanking the staff for their tireless work in preparing our “home away from home” for its spring debut.

Looking Ahead Together
As we move into the coming months, you will begin to see more opportunities to engage in meaningful dialogue about the future of our Club. The upcoming member sessions and planning discussions are designed to ensure your voice helps shape the next chapter of Forsyth Country Club. These conversations are not about change for the sake of change; they reflect thoughtful stewardship that protects what we love while preparing our Club to thrive for generations to come.
I encourage each of you to stay involved, ask questions, and continue sharing your perspective. The strength of Forsyth Country Club has always come from an engaged membership that cares deeply about its future.
Thank you for your trust, your friendship, and your continued support of our remarkable Club. I look forward to seeing you around campus this spring
Warm regards,
FROM THE COO
Our annual Membership Survey remains one of the most important tools we use to measure performance and guide operational priorities at Forsyth Country Club. The 2025 results confirm that the Club is performing well overall while also providing clear direction on where continued focus is required, particularly within the Food and Beverage experience.
This year’s survey reflected strong momentum. Overall satisfaction increased, with 93 percent of members indicating that the Club meets or exceeds expectations, and our Net Promoter Score improved to 58. These outcomes reflect the commitment of our team and the constructive engagement of our membership.
Within Food and Beverage, survey insights have reinforced our focus on execution, accountability, and consistency. Over the past several months, we have aligned leadership, refined service standards, and expanded training initiatives to strengthen both culinary execution and the pace of service. While progress is evident, our objective is sustained reliability. We aim to deliver a dining experience that meets expectations every time members visit the Club.
To support this effort, we have introduced weekly dining surveys that allow us to monitor performance in real time and respond quickly when adjustments are needed. Kelley Williams, Zach Crum, and Chef Lance Cook continue to lead structured training programs designed to elevate technical skill, operational discipline, and hospitality standards across the team.
Most importantly, member feedback continues to shape our path forward. The survey serves as a strategic roadmap that guides how we deploy resources, develop our people, and refine the overall member experience. As we move into 2026, our focus remains clear. Consistent service, thoughtful hospitality, and a Food and Beverage program that reflects the tradition of excellence that defines Forsyth Country Club.
Thank you for your continued engagement and support.
It’s my second favorite time of year. Spring has arrived, and the Club is moving quickly into one of our most active seasons. Warmer weather, longer days, and a full spring calendar are bringing Forsyth back to life. Events like our first annual Spring Fling, the Tillie: Spring Member-Guest Golf Tournament, the return of peak golf season, and upcoming Swim Team registration all signal the start of a busy and exciting stretch for our membership.
Throughout the spring, service and member feedback remain central to how we operate. Your input continues to shape programming, communication, and overall Club operations, and we appreciate the ongoing engagement that helps strengthen the Forsyth experience.
That same commitment to listening continues with the upcoming Master Facility Planning: Listen + Learn sessions on March 3 and 4, hosted by our strategic partner Chambers USA. These sessions are designed to walk through the thinking behind the conceptual campus plans, discuss priorities, and hear your questions and feedback.
Spring at Forsyth is about steady progress and thoughtful planning. We appreciate your continued involvement and look forward to a strong season ahead.
Master Facility Planning: Listen + Learn Sessions
Tuesday, March 3 + Wednesday, March 4
These upcoming sessions, led by our strategic planning partner Chambers USA, will provide a thoughtful overview of the conceptual Master Facility Plan shaped by extensive member input, Subcommittee collaboration, and strategic analysis.
This is an opportunity for review and engagement. We will share the vision behind the concepts, highlight the guiding priorities, and most importantly, create space for your feedback, questions, and perspectives.
***Please note, these sessions are not intended to present pricing, assessments, or finalized construction timelines. Please know that no decision regarding project(s) selection or capital funding have been made at this time.***
Please RSVP for a session on the app. Sessions are limited to 50 participants each.
CLUBHOUSE OPERATIONS
Thank you for the incredibly warm welcome to Forsyth Country Club. From the very first day, I have felt the pride, tradition, and genuine hospitality that make FCC so special. I am truly excited for all that 2026 holds for our Club.
As we look ahead, you will continue to see engaging family programming, attentive clubhouse care, and thoughtful touches throughout the property. My primary attention, however, will be centered on elevating the food and beverage experience across every outlet, from private and club events, to a la carte dining and the Pool Pavilion.
Behind the scenes, we are carefully introducing enhancements while welcoming new faces to our front of house team. Building a strong culture takes intention, and one my highest priorities is consistent development and education for our team. Ongoing learning creates confidence, consistency, and memorable moments for you and your guests.
We are committed to steady improvement. Growth does not happen overnight, and along the way there may be opportunities to adjust and refine. That is part of moving forward with a purpose.
"Progress,
not perfection."
Our goal is meaningful advancement, thoughtful development, and an environment where excellence is pursued with energy and optimism.
Thank you for your support and engagement. I look forward to an outstanding 2026.
MEMBERSHIP
Families are finding their rhythm again with longer days and full calendars. Our social calendar is filled with wonderful events for you to enjoy, making this one of the most vibrant times of the year at the Club.
Spring is also an ideal time to introduce friends, neighbors, and colleagues to the Forsyth experience. If you know someone who would be a great fit, I would love to connect with them. When inviting a prospective member to visit, please remember that a prospective member guest form must be submitted in advance. Prospective members may visit as your guest at no charge, and members continue to be billed their regular fees while hosting. To request the form, please email me at d.eldridge@forsythcc.com.
This season is also a perfect opportunity to ensure your membership information is current. If you have welcomed a new addition to the family or have updated your address, contact details, or business information, please let me know so we can keep your account accurate and your family fully connected
CULINARY
As we head into spring, our culinary team is continuing to refine the dining experience across campus with a focus on consistency, comfort, and member-driven favorites. Your feedback from the 2025 Member Survey has shaped our priorities, and we’re excited to share what’s new, and what’s returning, over the next two months.
We’ve enhanced the flow of our back-of-house operations to ensure meals reach your table promptly and beautifully. Improved communication systems and a refined pass process now support our goal of delivering entrées more efficiently. These improvements help ensure every plate arrives with the same quality, temperature, and presentation
Members have told us they appreciate familiarity done exceptionally well. This season, you’ll see a strengthened core menu built around dishes that are deeply satisfying and always reliable. Streamlined selections allow our chefs to focus on consistency, flavor, and technique across every service period.
Some of our most-requested items are back and better than ever: Shrimp & Grits once again anchors our brunch menu.
Waffles are now crispier, thanks to a revised batter and cooking method.
A classic ribeye steak - not dry-aged - is back for those who prefer a more traditional cut. Expect a dark chocolate dessert featured each menu cycle.
We’re also testing a gluten-free cookie skillet, with the potential to become a permanent addition.
Fish & Chip Fridays are back by popular demand.
Each month, look for a special lobster feature in the Grill, from traditional boiled, to indulgent bake-stuffed, and thermidor preparations.
Our expanded Allergy Protocol ensures a safe, consistent approach in every dining area, including Banquets and the Grill. Members with dietary needs can expect clear labels (NF, DF, GF), centralized communication of restrictions, alerts to chefs during ticketing, dedicated cooking oils where required, and manager-led delivery of sensitive meals.
To make navigating dinner even smoother, nightly features will be printed and available at the host stand upon request. You won’t need your phone to know what’s featured.
If there’s a dish you love that deserves a longer-term home on the menu, or if we’ve overlooked a dietary need, please stop me when you’re at the Club or send a quick note in the app. Grill F&B satisfaction has grown from 4.07 to 4.17 out of 5 since 2023, and we’re committed to keeping that momentum going.

FITNESS
As March rolls into April, spring brings longer days, warmer weather, and a natural boost of energy - perfect fuel for refreshing your fitness routine This season is all about new beginnings, and there is no better time to recommit to your health goals or try something new at the Pavilion Fitness Center.
One of the easiest ways to stay motivated is to set short, seasonal goals. Instead of focusing on long-term outcomes, aim for what you can achieve by the end of spring - whether that’s improving endurance, building strength, or simply staying consistent with weekly workouts. Small wins add up fast. Our Personal Trainers can help you achieve these goals.
Spring is also a great excuse to mix things up. Rotate your workouts, try a new class, or take your training outdoors when possible. A change of scenery or routine can reignite excitement and help you push past plateaus. We have some great classes on offer.
Do not forget the power of routine and accountability. Scheduling workouts like appointmentsand teaming up with a friend or class - makes it easier to show up even on low-energy days. And remember: motivation often follows action, not the other way around.
Finally, give yourself grace. Progress is not about perfection; it is about consistency. Celebrate showing up, enjoy the fresh season, and let spring be the spark that keeps you moving forward.

COURSE
Hopefully by the time you read this newsletter, winter is firmly in the rear-view mirror, and we are experiencing much warmer conditions than those endured in January and early February For the second consecutive year, Winston-Salem and much of the southeastern United States were impacted by an extended arctic weather pattern that required the golf course to remain closed for much of January.
All 21 greens were protected with two sets of covers, and the coldest areas on 13 greens received an additional layer of pine straw to help trap heat. In this application, pine straw functions much like the feathers in a down comforter—retaining warmth while still allowing fresh air to pass through.
In total, the greens were covered for 18 consecutive days and 25 of 26 calendar days. Following the removal of the covers and the cleanup and relocation of more than 200 bales of pine straw, each green was thoroughly inspected and appears to be in good overall health. While we will continue to closely monitor turf conditions as the grass emerges from dormancy, early indications suggest the protective measures were successful and we are on track for a normal spring transition.
Beyond the greens, approximately one additional acre of turf on holes 3, 6, 7, 8, and 9 was covered in areas that have historically sustained the greatest winter damage. We remain optimistic that the significant snowfall during this period provided valuable insulation during the coldest nights, when temperatures dropped into single digits.
That said, this was a historic weather event, and the possibility of winter damage - particularly in heavily shaded areas where snow and ice persisted the longest - still exists. Warm-season turfgrasses can “breathe” under snow cover; however, repeated freeze-thaw cycles that lead to ice formation can restrict gas exchange and create anaerobic soil conditions, which can challenge turf survival.
While we understand that course closures can be frustrating, taking proactive protective measures is critical to the long-term health and success of our warm-season turf throughout the property. The Golf Course Maintenance staff worked tirelessly to both protect the course and reopen it as quickly as possible. These efforts, combined with snow removal from parking areas, allowed us to reopen earlier than any other course in the area
Thank you for your continued patience and support during this challenging stretch. It is great to see members back out on the course, and we look forward to warmer temperatures and longer days as we prepare for another successful golf season at the Club.
Divot Filling Party
Monday, April 20

FAMILY ACTIVITIES
As we look back on January and February, it has been a wonderful start to the year at the Club.
