Chase Adams, PGA Director of Golf

Titleist Leadership Advisory Staff

Dear Forsyth Country Club Families, For generations, the golf course at Forsyth Country Club has been more than just a place to play; it has been the heart of our community, a setting for cherished family memories, and a proving ground for the timeless values of Excellence, Respect, and Tradition. Today, we stand at the threshold of a defining moment in our Club's storied history. I am writing to ask for your serious consideration of an important long-term project that will meaningfully enhance the golf experience at Forsyth. This initiative is thoughtfully designed to impact not only each and every golfer at FCC today, but to fundamentally improve the game as we know it. By investing in this vision, we are committing to a future that elevates our standard of play, modernizes our instructional capabilities, and, most importantly, deepens the incredible camaraderie that makes our golfing community so special. From our youngest junior golfers picking up a club for the first time to our most seasoned players, this project ensures that our facilities will support, challenge, and inspire everyone. I take immense pride in Forsyth Country Club, and I am profoundly thankful to play a part in this organization. It is an honor to serve you and to witness firsthand the relationships and sportsmanship that thrive on our grounds every day. Thank you for your time, your trust, and your serious consideration of this important step forward. I am incredibly excited for the years ahead and for the bright future of golf at Forsyth Country Club. Warm regards, Chase Adams, PGA Director of Golf, Forsyth Country Club

The Heart of Forsyth Country Club For over a century, Forsyth Country Club has stood as a pillar of golfing excellence. Founded in 1913, the Club's original layout began modestly as a nine-hole course with sand greens. It was soon elevated by the legendary architect A.W. Tillinghast, whose early design now comprises our storied back nine. In 1920, the visionary Donald Ross was commissioned to weave these grounds into a true championship 18-hole layout. Today, Ross remains arguably the most revered architect in the history of the game, holding the unparalleled distinction of having 26 of his designs featured in Golfweek’s “100 Best Classic Courses.”

The Restoration of a Masterpiece Over the decades, as the game evolved, subtle alterations gradually softened the distinct character of Ross’s original work. Yet, his masterful routing remained untouched across our spectacular, rolling topography right in the heart of Winston-Salem. Recognizing the unparalleled potential of this canvas, the Club partnered with renowned Donald Ross restoration specialist Kris Spence in 2007. The objective was clear: resurrect the strategic genius of Ross’s original design while modernizing the course for the contemporary game. The result is a breathtaking classic layout that seamlessly blends historic charm with premier turf conditions. Our Champion ultradwarf bermudagrass greens deliver the exceptionally smooth, fast surfaces essential to replicating Ross’s original vision.

Architectural Brilliance Playing a round at Forsyth is a walk through architectural history. Golfers will encounter meticulously restored signature features, including the imposing “Bear’s Mouth” hillside on the 8th hole, the treacherous “Coffins” mounds on the 16th, and the formidable “Hornet’s Nest” bunker cluster on the 18th. True to Ross’s ethos, the course features flat-bottomed bunkers with steep grass faces, demanding thoughtful, strategic shot-making rather than simple power. The green complexes are a masterclass in variety and defense. Some greens boast distinct shoulders and dramatic fall-offs, while others sit subtly low to the ground. Designed to accept traditional low, running approach shots, the course remains endlessly playable, challenging, and enjoyable for golfers of all ages and abilities.

Vision Statement: The Golf Learning Center is designed as a comprehensive, year-round destination for golfers of every age and ability. It will bring instruction, practice, club fitting, technology, and social programming together in one welcoming environment—from a beginner's first swing to an experienced golfer's pursuit of continued improvement.

The Goal: The primary goal of the Golf Learning Center is to serve as a premier amenity designed for golf development, social engagement, and enjoyment by providing a centralized, year-round environment where members of all ages and abilities can learn, improve, compete, and connect through the game of golf.

Timeless Design While the traditions of the game remain timeless, the way members learn, practice, and enjoy golf continues to evolve. The Golf Learning Center responds to that evolution by creating a dedicated environment for instruction, player development, club fitting, and year-round member engagement in a climate-controlled environment. The goal is not simply to add another building. The goal is to create a destination where beginners discover the game, families learn together, experienced players refine their skills, and our PGA professionals have the resources to deliver an exceptional member experience.

Why Four Hitting Bays The four-bay design creates operational flexibility and improves member access. One bay supports individual instruction, while another is used for teaching and club fitting. The third and fourth bays accommodate member practice, junior development, or small-group instruction and evening social programming.

Technology That Supports Better Golf The WellPutt XL Wave gives our members a unique opportunity to practice putting in a way that closely reflects the demands of the golf course. The putting platform is fully adjustable, allowing you to practice perfectly level putts or introduce varying degrees of break. This gives you the ability to work on everything from straight putts to more challenging breaking putts, helping students develop a better understanding of how the slope of the green affects the ball. Rendering

One of the most valuable features is the

projected illuminated line, which shows the ideal aim point and the precise path the ball needs to travel for the putt to go in. Rather than simply knowing whether a putt was successful, you can actually see why it was successful—or why it missed. This is especially important when learning the relationship between speed and break. A putt's break is directly influenced by the speed at which the ball travels. The WellPutt XL Wave allows our instructors to demonstrate this relationship visually, helping students understand how changes in speed affect the amount of break they need to play. Ultimately, the goal is to turn putting from a matter of guesswork into a repeatable skill based on green reading, speed control, aim, and execution.

Trackman iO & Trackman 4 Launch monitor technology, simulator capability, video feedback, and putting analysis give members immediate information that can make instruction more productive and practice more engaging. Technology supports the teaching relationship; it does not replace it. One of the greatest advantages of using Trackman in an indoor teaching environment is the immediate feedback it provides. By the time you finish your swing, you can simply look over at the two dedicated monitors. One monitor displays 17 club and 13 ball-flight metrics from the swing, giving you detailed information about exactly what happened at impact and how the ball responded.

At the same time, the second monitor has a video replay of your swing immediately available. There is no waiting, searching through video, or trying to remember what you just did—the swing is ready to review while the shot and the numbers are still fresh. This allows the instructor and student to connect the feel of the swing with the actual motion, impact conditions, and resulting ball flight in real time. Instead of simply hitting another ball and guessing what happened, you can immediately identify what needs to change, make an adjustment, and test it on the very next swing.

Designated Club Repair Shop The old workbench at the back of the bag room has served us faithfully for more than fifty years; it is time our professionals have a designated club-repair station and golf-storage area. Both functions have been thoughtfully incorporated into the Golf Learning Center, providing an organized area for timely club repair and dedicated storage for our professionals.

Investing in the Future of Golf WHY THIS MATTERS

The value of the Golf Learning Center extends beyond better practice conditions. It strengthens one of the Club’s signature amenities by expanding instruction, supporting junior and family programming, enhancing member engagement, and helping Forsyth attract and retain outstanding PGA Professionals. In addition to the programming and technology improvements, this facility provides a unique opportunity to continue golf programming at a meaningful level through our winter months in an indoor, climate-controlled environment. Regardless of temperature and regardless of a prolonged green covering event, player development never has to stop at Forsyth. Most importantly, it creates new experiences for our members.

Lessons and practice can continue in a climatecontrolled environment.

Programming can continue even when outdoor practice access is limited.

Simulator play, leagues, clinics, and family events extend golf beyond the outdoor season.

The result is a more consistent path for instruction and player development throughout the year —and more opportunities for members to stay connected to golf and to one another.

Private-Club Priority

NGF research identifies weather-independent play as a leading benefit golfers associate with simulator technology.

Enhanced practice capabilities and performance feedback are among the principal reasons golfers use simulator technology.

CMAA/GGA research identifies continued enhancement of golf course and practice facilities as a leading member priority.

A broader industry direction CMAA, drawing on GGA Partners member research, specifically identifies driving ranges, short-game areas, and golf simulators within the broader priority of improving golf course and practice facilities. Golf Inc. has recognized technology-driven practice and instruction environments that combine professional instruction, fitting, flexible hitting bays, and member gathering spaces.

Club + Resort Business has profiled private-club learning centers that integrate teaching, fitting, club repair, putting, Trackman, and indoor/outdoor practice.

At Forsyth, the simulators are not the project. They are one tool within a comprehensive Golf Learning Center designed to improve instruction, practice, putting, fitting, senior engagement, junior and family programming, year-round access, and member connection.
