Dear Forest Hills Country Club Members, Somehow, September always seems to arrive before we are quite ready for it. One minute we are enjoying long summer evenings and lazy mornings, and the next we are back to school schedules, homework, activities and calendars that seem to fill up overnight. Like many of you, we are settling into our new school-year routine at our house. Dance is starting back up for my girls in the first week of September, gymnastics is filling our calendar again, and we are quickly remembering just how much coordination it takes to get everyone where they need to be on time! Between practices, girl scouts, parent information nights, homework and the occasional back-to-school celebration, it feels like fall has officially arrived. And while the pace picks up, there is something I really love about this time of year. The routines are familiar, the excitement of a new school year is in the air, and we begin looking forward to all the things that make fall special. Football, cooler evenings, fall traditions, and plenty of reasons to gather with friends and family. The Club is no different. As we wrap up another wonderful summer, we are transitioning into a busy and exciting fall season, with plenty happening around Forest Hills. Our HVAC project is moving forward, with installation currently anticipated to begin in September and continue through mid-November. We appreciate everyone's patience as we work through this important project and make improvements that will serve the Club for years to come. We will continue to keep you informed as the project progresses and as areas of the Club are impacted. Bocce League begins this week! Because of the calendar this year, there will be a one-week overlap between Bocce and the pool season. We are excited to see another season of competition, camaraderie, and, undoubtedly, a little friendly trash talk! A quick reminder that fall aerification is scheduled for September 14–16. The Valley Course will be aerified Monday, September 14, with the Championship Course following Tuesday and Wednesday, September 15–16. We know aerification can temporarily affect your golf experience, but this work is an important part of keeping our courses healthy and in excellent condition for the seasons ahead. Thank you for your patience while our Grounds team completes this important work. We are looking forward to a fun Labor Day weekend at the Club and hope many of you will take advantage of the opportunity to spend some time with family and friends here. And while Labor Day traditionally marks the unofficial end of summer, we aren't quite ready to say goodbye to pool season! The Adult Pool will remain open the week following Labor Day, weather permitting. We will continue to monitor conditions and communicate any changes as we get closer. As the golf season begins to wind down, another season at the Club is just getting started. Our team is hard at work planning and preparing for a wonderful lineup of fall events, and we can't wait to see you there. You will also see information in this newsletter regarding an upcoming bylaw vote. This vote is being conducted to correct a clerical error in the Club's bylaws. Additional information is included on page 5, and the proposed language will be provided to members when the vote is sent out, so you have a clear understanding of the correction before voting. Please look for an electronic ballot in the coming weeks. As we head into another busy season, I want to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you for your continued support of our team, for your patience as we work through projects and improvements, and for the feedback you continue to share with us. Most importantly, thank you for choosing to spend your time at Forest Hills. Forest Hills, like many golf course communities, began as a developer-owned club. The golf course, clubhouse and amenities were part of the developer’s investment in creating an attractive community and selling homes. Once the development was complete, however, the long-term responsibility for maintaining and investing in those assets shifted to the members. For decades, Forest Hills owner-members have proudly carried that responsibility. We are not simply members enjoying a club…we are stewards. Today, we have an opportunity to become even more strategic about that stewardship.
Our committees and governance process do a great job identifying both obligatory maintenance needs and aspirational improvements, while our annual budgeting process addresses the year immediately ahead. We are now working to connect those efforts into a more comprehensive, long-term capital strategy. To help, we have engaged Club Benchmarking, a leading financial and operational benchmarking platform that works with hundreds of clubs. Club Benchmarking combines Forest Hills-specific information with data from hundreds of clubs. They are currently completing an inventory of more than 600 Forest Hills assets. This will help us identify anticipated capital needs over the next five to ten years. The Board will use this information, as well as Club Benchmarking’s extensive database of clubs similar to FHCC, at our annual Strategic Meeting to develop a comprehensive capital strategy addressing obligatory capital needs, aspirational investments, debt strategy, membership modeling, initiation fees, and future capital opportunities. There is plenty of work ahead, but this is exciting work. This is not a once-and-done effort. Data will be updated and used in all future strategic planning. Our goal is simple: maintain the Forest Hills we love today while building the financial and strategic foundation for the Forest Hills we want tomorrow. We will share the results and our initial strategic direction in detail at our Annual Meeting in March. The future of Forest Hills is something we plan for, invest in and build together.

Bylaw Amendment Revision Explanation Dear Forest Hills County Club Members, As part of the Club’s ongoing review of its governing documents, the Board is asking the membership to consider an amendment to the Club’s Bylaws. The primary purpose of this amendment is to correct a clerical error in the Bylaws that occurred during the 2020 update and to ensure that the Bylaws accurately reflect the Club’s longstanding treatment of certain existing membership categories. The amendment also formally incorporates the recently established Senior Life Membership category. We recognize that amendments to the Bylaws can be technical and, at times, difficult to understand. We therefore want to provide some background on what is being corrected, why the change is necessary, and the intent behind the proposed amendment. Correction of Clerical Error The primary reason for the proposed amendment is to correct an existing inconsistency in the Bylaws regarding certain Golf Member subcategories. The current Bylaws state that all Golf Memberships count toward the Club’s 475-member Golf Membership cap. However, this language does not accurately reflect the historical treatment of certain membership subcategories, including Non-Resident, Widow and Inactive members. These categories have historically not counted toward the Golf Membership cap, consistent with prior versions of the Club’s Bylaws and the Club’s longstanding practice. When the Bylaws were updated in 2020, the language detailing these exclusions was inadvertently omitted. This was a clerical error, rather than a change in the Club’s intended membership structure or policy. The proposed amendment corrects that omission so the Bylaws accurately reflect the treatment of these existing membership categories and align the written document with the Club’s longstanding practice. It is important to emphasize that this portion of the amendment is intended to clarify and correct the governing document, not to create a new membership practice. The proposed language simply reflects the appropriate treatment of these categories within the Bylaws. Senior Life Membership Category The proposed amendment also formally incorporates a new Golf Membership category, Senior Life Member, which was recently established by the Board to recognize members who have demonstrated a long-standing commitment to and membership in the Club. The category is intended for a very limited number of long-tenured members who meet specific eligibility criteria, including reaching age 90. The Senior Life Member category was carefully considered by the Membership Committee, Governance Committee and the Board of Directors. It is recommended that the category not count towards the 475 Golf Member cap. The proposed Bylaw amendment formally incorporates this category into the Bylaws. It is important to emphasize how limited the impact of this change is expected to be. Currently, only two members are eligible for the Senior Life Member category, as members must be at least 90 years old to qualify. Based on the current membership, the next member who would become eligible is approximately three years away. Because of the age requirement and the very small number of members who can qualify, the Board does not anticipate that Senior Life Members will have a meaningful impact on course availability or other high-demand Club amenities. We encourage all members to review the proposed Bylaw amendment carefully and participate in the upcoming vote. August Employee of the Month Congratulations to Todd Flod on being named August Employee of the Month! We think of Todd as the employee who can do just about everything we need to keep our operation running successfully. We can always count on him to take on specialized projects and step in wherever he is needed. Todd has taken on a variety of important projects, including installing new signs and posts, constructing rock features to protect tight cart-path corners, and assisting our Horticulturist with rock features in landscape beds to help prevent erosion. On the Grounds Maintenance side, Todd also operates mowing equipment and is always willing to take on whatever task is needed. Seasonal Equipment Operatior Todd takes great pride in caring for our equipment, treating it as if he personally owns it. His attention to detail and commitment to doing things the right way set a positive example for everyone on our staff.

One of Todd's greatest strengths is his willingness to help. He consistently steps up when we are in need, whether that means filling a critical role, taking on additional responsibilities, or working extra hours when we are behind. His dependable attitude and willingness to help make a tremendous difference to our entire operation. Todd is also a great mentor and positive influence on our staff. He is always willing to share his knowledge and experience with others, helping those around him become better at what they do. Congratulations, Todd, and thank you for all that you do for our team! Fall Greens Aerification Schedule Valley Course: Monday, September 14 Championship Course: Tuesday and Wednesday, September 15–16
This fall, we will once again be utilizing solid tines for aerification rather than removing a core. We have used this method successfully during our fall aerification program for the past three years. Solid-tine aerification allows us to relieve compaction and improve air and water movement through the soil profile while minimizing the disruption to putting surfaces. A Quick Reminder: Bunker Raking & Ball Mark Repair As we move through the warmer and more humid months, we’d like to remind everyone of two important golf course etiquette practices: repairing ball marks and raking bunkers. With the increased humidity and temperatures, our greens are softer, which can result in more pronounced ball marks. Please take a moment to repair your ball marks after putting to help maintain the quality and playability of our greens. We also ask that you please rake your entry and exit footprints in the bunkers, as well as any areas disturbed by your golf shots. Our team has noticed that these areas are occasionally being left unraked. A little extra effort goes a long way in keeping the course in excellent condition and ensuring that the members and guests playing behind you have the best experience possible. Thank you for helping us take care of the course and for being considerate of your fellow golfers! Driving Range Bunker & Practice Area When the Driving Range bunker was renovated, it was converted to the Better Billy Bunker System, the same system used during the Valley Course bunker renovations. During the reconstruction, we saw an opportunity to create an uneven Zoysia practice area adjacent to the bunker. This additional space provides Members with a variety of ways to practice and challenge their game. The area allows you to practice shots with the ball above or below your feet, as well as side-slope, uphill, and downhill shots. These different lies provide an excellent opportunity to work on shots that you may encounter on the course. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this unique practice area. It offers a great way to expand your practice routine and develop greater confidence with a variety of lies and shot situations.

Bunker Playability Update Your Grounds Maintenance staff continues to listen to feedback from the Membership regarding bunker playability. We recognize, as many of you have, that the bunkers became quite firm during a stretch of the summer. Over the past couple of weeks, we have been addressing this issue by utilizing our mechanical bunker rake. This equipment allows us to loosen the sand to approximately a 1-inch depth, which has helped improve the overall firmness and playability of the bunkers. Moving forward, we will incorporate this mechanical raking method into our bunker maintenance program on a more frequent schedule. Our goal is to provide consistent, quality bunker conditions while continuing to respond to Membership feedback. We look forward to seeing you on the course! 10

Welcome to September. With kids heading back to school and fall just around the corner, September is a great time to enjoy the Club. The golf course is in excellent condition, and we hope you’ll take advantage of the great weather and plenty of opportunities to get out and play. We have several exciting things happening to kick off the month, beginning with a very special TaylorMade Tour Truck Experience on Thursday, September 3, from 1:00–7:00 p.m. This is a rare opportunity to receive a Tour-Level Fitting Experience right here at Forest Hills Country Club. Drivers, fairway woods, and hybrids can be built that same day in the Tour Truck, while custom iron orders will be sent directly to TaylorMade headquarters for production and shipment. TaylorMade will also offer custom wedge stamping during the event. Members can personalize new wedges or bring their existing wedges to have them stamped. Appointments are already very close to being full, but TaylorMade is bringing an additional fitter onsite to accommodate walk-up fittings throughout the afternoon. This is a unique opportunity that we are excited to bring to Forest Hills. Whether you are looking for a new club, interested in checking your current equipment, or simply want to experience what a Tour-level fitting is like, you won’t want to miss the TaylorMade Tour Truck! September Dates to Remember September 10–12 —Men’s Member-Guest September 14–16 — Annual Greens Aerification As a reminder, there are no reciprocal arrangements associated with the Men’s Member-Guest or annual greens aerification. Understanding Golf Reciprocity Local reciprocal arrangements exist only in unique circumstances. Examples may include professional courtesies when: A club is closed while hosting a professional Tour event. A club is shut down for an extended period due to major construction. A club is closed for an entire day while hosting an STLDGA event. Member events do not qualify for local reciprocal arrangements. There are no established reciprocal arrangements outside the St. Louis area. However, our Professional Staff is always happy to make a call on a member’s behalf to inquire whether another club will allow unaccompanied guest play. Any applicable guest fees established by the host club will apply, and access is always at the discretion of that facility. It is also important to understand that Top 100 golf courses and elite private country clubs will require guests to play with a member of that club. We hope this provides a clearer understanding of how golf reciprocity works and when it may be available. As always, our Professional Staff is happy to assist whenever possible. We look forward to a great September at Forest Hills and hope to see everyone enjoying the golf course throughout the month!

The Seniors finished July with a Regular Play event. The weather was warm and sunny; the course was in excellent condition, and 30 players went after the prize money. We had seven seniors finish under par (net), with Phil Roth at the top of the leaderboard. Myles Kelly, Bob O’Connell and Tony Piazza also cashed it. August was Senior Club Championship month. The championship was a 36-hole, medal competition spread over two weeks. Dan Miller, our 2025 defending champion, did it again. September is loaded with unique events as our season starts to wind down. We need to reschedule the “Three Clubs in the Bag” event. In addition, the Fall Three-Man Shamble, the Four-Man Quota Game, the Red Tees event, and the multi-tees event are on the calendar. Why shoot 79 when you can hit the ball 116 times for the same price?

Congratulationsto Tyler Linenbrokeron his excellent play at the 36th Metropolitan Amateur Golf Tournament. Against one of the strongest fields in the St. Louis area, Tyler shot +1 over three rounds at the CC of St. Albans. In a field that began with 156 players, Tyler finished in fourth place.

Forest Hills Country Club Meadowbrook Challenge The ladies of Forest Hills had another successful challenge against Meadowbrook Country Club! After the first day at FHCC, Forest Hills held a 21-stroke lead with a score of 548 to 569. On day one, the Forest Hills team was led by Laurie Hopkins and Chris Watson, who posted a best ball score of 64. On day two, Forest Hills extended their lead by 7 shots, outscoring Meadowbrook on their home course by a score of 572-579, led by the teams of Chi Kim and Judy Belew and Chris Watson/Karen Vangyia, who fired matching best ball 66s to put the finishing touches on a strong two-day showing from all of our Forest Hills members. By a final score of 1120 to 1148, Forest Hills brings home the commemorative Meadowbrook Challenge winner's flag once again September Events Reminder: There will be no regular play on Tuesday, September 8th, because the Club will be closed after Labor Day. Play with the Pro Tuesday, September 1st: Enjoy a fun day of competition between each of our Forest Hills Golf Pros and their team of three 18-hole ladies! Who will come out on top in this 18-hole challenge? Ladies will play from the tees they selected at the beginning of the season. The first lady listed will ride in the cart with the Pro. Ladies are also on the waitlist in case of a cancellation. Bogey Hills Interclub Thursday, September 3rd, is the last Interclub of the season! If you haven’t participated in one yet, this is your chance to join us. The day will begin at 7:30 am with a light breakfast and registration, followed by an 8:30 am shotgun start. The format is a four-person drop-out scramble. The cost is $75 per person and includes a golf cart, lunch, and prizes. Solheim Cup Team Reveal Party Thursday, September 17that 5:00 PM, join us in the Living Room as Team USA and Team Europe are unveiled and the team captains are chosen! All ladies in the 18-Hole League are welcome to attend. Sign up on ForeTees by September 16th! Solheim Cup Tuesday, September 22nd and 29th: This two-day event is open to 18-hole ladies only! There will be an 8:30 am shotgun start each day. Players will be divided equally by handicap between Team USA and Team Europe. Day 1 will feature Best Ball and Scramble, while Day 2 will consist of Modified Alternate Shot and Singles. Players are expected to participate both days.
