Beginning the week of August 25 , the Aquatic Center will begin its modified summer hours. th The Aquatic Center, including the Family Pool and Adult Pool, will be open Tuesday–Sunday from 10:00 am–8:00 pm through Sunday, August 23rd. Beginning Tuesday, August 25th through Labor Day, Monday, September 7th, the Family Pool will be open Tuesday–Friday from 4:00 pm–Sunset and Saturday–Sunday from 10:00 am–Sunset, while the Adult Pool will remain open Tuesday–Sunday from 10:00 am–8:00 pm. The Café will be open Tuesday–Sunday from 10:00 am–8:00 pm through Sunday, August 9th. From Tuesday, August 11th through Sunday, August 23rd, the Café will be open Tuesday–Friday from 4:00–8:00 pm and Saturday–Sunday from 10:00 am–8:00 pm. Beginning Tuesday, August 25th through Labor Day, Monday, September 7th, the Café will be open Fridays from 4:00–8:00 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am–8:00 pm.

In observance of Labor Day weekend, all Club facilities will be open normal weekend hours on Monday, September 7th. On Sunday, September 6th, there will be no Sunday Brunch; we will have a Lunch Buffet also be available. A limited à la carte lunch menu will be available, and our full à la carte dinner menu will be available that evening. On Monday, September 7th, the Café will be open from 10:00 am–8:00 pm with our full à la carte lunch menu & a Grill Out station available from 11:00 am–3:00 pm; please note that à la carte dinner service will not be available. All Club facilities will then be closed on Tuesday, September 8 , with the exception of the Fitness Center, which will be open from 5:00 am–4:30 pm. th

Even as summer begins to slow down, there is still plenty happening around the Club.
One thing I've been happy to hear from many members is that the e-bike situation on the golf courses has noticeably improved. We continue to discuss permanent signage while also working with local law enforcement and City Council representatives on this issue. Hopefully you've noticed fewer bikes on the property, and we appreciate everyone who has helped reinforce that motorized bikes are not permitted on Club grounds.
During the last week of July we also had the opportunity to celebrate our incredible team during our annual Employee Appreciation Party. More than 150 employees joined us for a pool party and golf scramble, and it was a wonderful way to recognize the hard work they have put in throughout another busy summer. Whether they're serving dinner, maintaining the golf courses, teaching tennis, watching over the pool, or greeting you at the front door, our employees are what make Forest Hills special. Thank you for helping us make them feel appreciated.
If you've noticed a few areas of the golf course looking stressed recently, you're not alone. The combination of frequent rainfall, high humidity, and summer heat has created ideal conditions for turf disease. Our Grounds Team has been proactive in applying fungicide treatments to the and shares additional details his article. As always, we're grateful for the team's hard always make easy.
As many of our seasonal employees begin returning to transition in pool operations. The majority of our lifeguards head back to campus, food and beverage service at the ordering through the Café or Cabana Bar, although full your patience and understanding during this seasonal transition.
The rainfall has also brought some encouraging news regarding updates on the well repair project, we've seen chloride monitoring the well itself, we've expanded our testing for our irrigation system, and those chloride levels continue monthly as we work to ensure the long-term health of our golf courses.

Manager’s Report Contiuned
Our junior golf, swim, and racquet programs have wrapped up another outstanding season. Thank you to all of the families, coaches, volunteers, and staff who helped make this another memorable summer for so many of our younger members. Watching the next generation enjoy the Club is always one of the highlights of the season.
During the last week of July, we shared the Board's decision to update the Adult Pool policy. Effective August 1, the Adult Pool is reserved for members and guests ages 21 and older. This change reflects member feedback, helps preserve the relaxing atmosphere intended for that space, and simplifies compliance with liquor licensing requirements. Thank you for your understanding as we implement this change.
The House Committee also continues working with our architect design team to explore updated concepts for the dining room renovation. Based on the valuable feedback received from members following the assessment vote, the Committee is taking another look at the project to ensure any future plans reflect member priorities while continuing to address the long-term needs of the Club.
Finally, later this month, many Forest Hills members will be volunteering at the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club. We appreciate everyone representing Forest Hills at this incredible event and know you'll make our Club proud.
As summer comes to a close, I want to thank each of you for making Forest Hills such a special place for our families, our employees, and one another. We hope you enjoy these last few weeks before the school year begins, and we look forward to seeing you around the Club as we head into what is sure to be another wonderful fall season.

Adult Pool is Now Ages 21+
At its recent meeting, the Board of Directors approved a change to the minimum age requirement for use of the Adult Pool. Effective August 1st, the Adult Pool will be reserved for members and guests 21 years of age and older.
This decision was made after careful consideration of member feedback and the Club's ongoing commitment to providing the best possible member experience. The Adult Pool is intended to serve as a quiet, relaxing environment for adults, and the Board believes this adjustment will better support that purpose.
Additionally, because alcoholic beverages are permitted in the Adult Pool area, establishing a minimum age of 21 helps simplify compliance with liquor licensing requirements and provides greater clarity for both members and our staff.
While this change was initially considered for implementation next season, the Board determined that it was appropriate to make the adjustment now rather than delay addressing the current needs of the membership.

Dear Forest Hills Country Club Members,
We will be replacing the pedestrian bridge at Hole #7 with a prefabricated fiberglass bridge. After evaluating the cost of replacing all the wood decking, as well as sanding and painting the existing steel beams, the decision was made to purchase a prefabricated bridge This new bridge will provide a more durable, low-maintenance solution and will eliminate the need for future sanding, painting, and wood replacement.

Diseases In Rough
The past few weeks have provided ideal conditions for significant disease outbreaks in cool-season grasses. Although we apply preventative fungicide treatments, there are times when environmental conditions are so favorable for disease development that even preventative applications cannot completely overcome the intense disease pressure.

Summer Patch is a challenging turf disease because it must be treated preventively beginning in April, followed by two more applications a month apart. By the time symptoms appear, the damage has already occurred, and fungicide applications are much less effective.
To manage the disease, we focus our preventative applications on high-profile "in-play" rough areas surrounding greens, along fairways, and at tee walk-ups. We make two sprayer passes around each fairway, so areas beyond those passes do not receive treatment.

Summer Patch is commonly identified by its distinctive "frog-eye" pattern. Infected areas develop a brown outer ring while a circle of healthy green turf remains in the center, creating the characteristic appearance that turfgrass specialists use to diagnose the disease.
Bunker Conditioning
We need to get back into the bunkers and focus on several important maintenance tasks. The smooth bunker faces have provided significant benefits by minimizing sand movement during rain events and reducing the occurrence of "fried egg" lies. However, because these faces are not disturbed regularly, algae has begun to develop in some of the smooth, compacted areas.
We need to dedicate time to loosening the bunker faces and disrupting the surface compaction to help prevent further algae development. While working in the bunkers, we also need to remove any Poa annua that has germinated.
These tasks will be moved up our priority list to ensure the bunkers remain in the best possible playing condition.

Forest Hills Country Club Tree Planting Update

Ever Notice the Trees?
Some people love them, others hate them, some hit them, others get stuck behind them. It’s a golf course, and it’s called “Forest” Hills! We no longer have nearly as many trees as when it was named, but we still have many, and these trees play several major roles within the course and grounds (e.g., framing fairways and greens, play strategy, shade, aesthetics, and wildlife habitats). However, there is a delicate balance between those positive and potential negative impacts (e.g., too much shade, root issues, falling limbs, excessive growth, pests, and diseases).
For the past 3 years, we have implemented a tree plan to help balance these factors and provide direction for new plantings to replace losses (30 to 40 per year). Many trees are lost due to storms, old age, disease, and pests (e.g., Ash borer). Others are removed due to poor turf growth from excess shading, roots impacting bunkers or greens, gumballs (notice how those sweet gum trees have disappeared). New plantings have occurred each year and are limited to ~40 per year by the resources required to maintain new trees during establishment. The dynamic plan also looks ahead to future years and proposes potential planting sites for further consideration. This work has resulted in more new plantings with more species diversity and more color than ever before in the history of the Club. Join us for a two-day home-and-away team match play competition against Meadowbrook, with an 8:30 am shotgun start at Forest Hills on Tuesday, August 11 and at Meadowbrook on Wednesday, August 12 . Lunch will be available after golf both days. Please note that Meadowbrook does not allow golf shoes in its dining room, and sign-ups close on ForeTees Friday, August 7th.
Lake Forest Interclub (August 13 )th
Join us for the Lake Forest Interclub featuring registration and a light breakfast at 7:30 am, followed by an 8:30 am shotgun start in a four-person drop-out scramble. The $75 entry fee includes breakfast, cart, lunch, and prizes, and signups close on August 5th.
Bring a Friend (August 25 )th
This is the day to bring a friend to play a round of golf and not have to worry about Guest Fees! Make your own tee time and reservation for lunch. Golf cart fees will apply.
All Ladies Valley Event (Wednesday, August 26 )th
Join us for the All Ladies Valley Event with a 5:00 pm shotgun start, a fun evening open to all women golfing members. Teams will be randomly selected, but if you'd like to play with someone specific, please let the Golf Shop know.
Play with the Pro (September 1 )st
All groups will play with their Pro for this 18-hole competition on the same day! Each signup will include 3 ladies with one of our fantastic Forest Hills Golf Pros! Ladies will play from whichever tees you have declared at the beginning of the season. There will be two spots for the waitlist. The first lady to sign up will ride with the Pro.

Our Member-Guest event will be on Thursday, September 3 . The theme is “It’s a Jungle Out Here ” The day begins with an 8:30 AM putting contest, followed by a 9:30 AM shotgun start. The event is $45 per person and includes lunch and prizes (cart fees additional). Be sure to arrive early to test your putting skills and compete in the contest before the round!
Senior Men’s Golf Association

The Senior Men finished the month of June with a Regular Play event. The weather was warm and sunny, and a good field of 25 showed up. Four players led the field with net 72s. A scorecard playoff put Pat Wenstrup on top with Jeff Serafin, Bob O’Connell and Brad Rosencrans also cashing in.
We started July with a patriotic Flag Day event. Forty-one players started on a very hot and humid morning. Mark Tipton planted his flag greenside on hole #2 and won top honors. Scott Woley, Tom Dean, and Brad Rosencrans also made money.
Sunny, hot and humid weather greeted a smaller field of 26 for our early July Regular play event. The course was in excellent condition, and 8 players were under par (net). Terry Gooding, Dave Ganz and Phil Roth led the field and brought home the bacon.
In the late 19th century, Dr. Frank Barney Gorton Stableford, an English doctor and avid golfer, invented the Stableford scoring system. On July 15th, 25 seniors tried it out. Jeff Serafin, Tom Dean, Charles Nance, and Dave Ganz all loved it and walked away with prize money.
The Senior men took a page out of the ladies handbook and ended July with our first-ever “Par 3” event. This format has been popular with the ladies and by all accounts it was popular with the men. Three teams tied with 66 under par (2 best balls, net) and the winners were determined by a scorecard playoff. Dan Miller, Don Roberts, Fred Weber and Fred Salerno won the gold.
The August calendar includes the Senior Club Championship, the Jim Harf “Three Clubs in the Bag” event and our Fall Three-Man Shamble.

Congratulations to our Forest Hills CC juniors on their outstanding play in the St. Louis District Golf Association Junior Championship at Lake Forest Country Club!
Jack Parr - Champion of the 14-15 year old division with scores of 74-78 - 152.
In the 16-18-year-old division, Charlie Bomkamp finished in 3rd place with a two-day score of 151, and Blake Mueller finished in 6th place with a score of 155.
The St. Louis District Golf Association has three remaining open championships this season! There is the Salomon Parent/Child Championship (August 6), the Senior Championship (August 18-19), and the Jim Benson Memorial Championship (September 21-22).
