A La Carte Dining Hours of Operation Update
The Club will be closed for a la carte dinner service on Saturday, April 4 , due to the Club-wide Easter Fair event. Regular a la carte lunch and dinner service will not be available on Sunday, April 5 , due to Easter Brunch. th th
The Club will be hosting a Masters Dinner on Friday, April 10 . A la carte dinner service WILL NOT be available on this date. The Masters Club Dinner will be available for reservations beginning at 5:00 pm. You can sign up on OpenTable or call the Club to make reservations. More information is available on page 8.
Now Open for Tuesday Lunch Service!
The Club will reopen for a la carte lunch service on Tuesdays beginning April 7th, and will remain open for lunch on Tuesdays through October 2026. As a reminder, the Club is always closed for dinner service on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Registration for Junior Sports Now Available!
If you are interested in signing up your child for Junior Golf and/or Swim and Dive Team, log onto the Club’s website, www.foresthillscc.net, hover over the “My Club” tab, and click on the link that says “Junior Registration”. Junior Racquets Summer Session One is available for registration on the ForeTees Racquets events page. Registration will be open only in April. Please be sure to sign up all of your participants within that time frame to avoid penalties. More information on how to register can be found on page 14, along with the flyer for the Junior Sports Activity Fest, can be found on Page 18.

I am pleased to share key highlights from our Annual Membership Meeting held on March 26, 2026, where we continued to reinforce our commitment to delivering an exceptional member experience. We remain focused on fostering a strong sense of community, maintaining engagement, and delivering value through exceptional experiences.
Financial Report
In alignment with the Board's strategic priorities, the FY2027 operating budget reflects a measured and necessary response to rising costs associated with operating the Club. Overall, the net cost to operate the Club is expected to increase by approximately 5%, driven by several key factors. These include increased labor costs resulting from the state-mandated minimum wage increase from $13.75 to $15.00, as well as continued increases in utilities, real estate taxes, insurance, and ongoing repairs and maintenance associated with our aging infrastructure.
To responsibly support these increases while maintaining the level of service and experience our members expect, the Board has approved a 4% dues adjustment, effective April 1, 2026. This equates to an increase of $40 per month for Regular Golf Members and $13 per month for Social Members. In addition, there will be modest increases to select ancillary fees, including bag storage, cart fees, guest fees, and locker fees. These updated fees are outlined below:

As part of our ongoing efforts to remain competitive in attracting and retaining service staff, the automatic gratuity on dining services will increase from 18% to 20%. This adjustment does not impact the Club’s operating budget, as gratuities are paid directly to service staff, but it plays an important role in supporting consistency and quality in service delivery.
Separately, the FY2027 capital plan includes approximately $2.2 million in planned investments focused on maintaining and improving critical infrastructure across the Club. To support this, a capital dues increase will also be implemented of $50 per month for Regular Golf Members and $25 per month for Social Members.
We understand that any adjustments to dues and fees require careful consideration. These decisions were made following thorough analysis and with a continued focus on the long-term sustainability of the Club and the overall member experience.

Operations Report
The Club continues to see strong engagement and operational success across all areas. Dining reservations and event participation have increased, supported by the continued success of social programming and the introduction of new events. Junior programming remains strong across all areas, and golf activity continues at a high level, with approximately 27,608 on the Championship Course and 7,354 on the Valley Course. Our ongoing focus on team development, training, and culture remains a key priority to enhance the overall member satisfaction around the Club.
In FY2026, the Club completed several key projects aimed at maintaining and enhancing our facilities, including irrigation system upgrades, grounds equipment replacements, Eagles View screens, implementation of the long line draft beer system, and continued progress on the tree replacement program.
Looking ahead to FY2027, planned capital improvements will focus on both infrastructure and member amenities. These projects include fitness center upgrades, the Valley Course bunker project, pool cabana long line draft system, and continued investment in Club infrastructure.
As we enter the new fiscal year, we remain focused on enhancing the overall member experience through continued investment in our team and facilities, expanding programming and engagement opportunities, and listening to and acting on member feedback.

Fellow Club Members, April is one of my favorite months at the Club. The weather begins to turn (please, Mother Nature!) and the zoysia grass starts to green back up. You can catch Cardinal baseball playing at Eagle’s View, and there’s a noticeable uptick in activity across the golf course, racquet courts, and bocce courts. It all builds into a wonderful crescendo toward the full-throttle pace of summer at Forest Hills.
I’d like to extend a sincere thank you to Emma and the entire staff for a fantastic fiscal year 2026. Their dedication, energy, and attention to detail continue to elevate the member experience in meaningful ways. With their leadership and commitment, I know we’re wellpositioned for another outstanding year ahead. The team is ready to make Forest Hills an even more special place for all of us.
I’d also like to recognize a group of unsung heroes—the Monday Divot Team, led by John Sherman. Week after week, a dedicated group of 10–15 members volunteers their time to fill divots across the courses. Following a winter when the zoysia grass is dormant and unable to recover on its own, their efforts make a tremendous difference in course conditions. Their work helps ensure that we head into the season in peak shape. Thank you, John, and to everyone who lends a hand.

Dear Forest Hills Country Club Members,
In this Course Update, I’ll revisit the key reasons behind our aerification practices, provide an update on the deep well status, share how the Tahoma bermudagrass is progressing, and touch on a topic that members have recently asked about.
Greens Aerification
We aerified the Championship Course greens March 23–25. Our spring aerification process consistently includes pulling cores from the greens, followed by deep drilling and sand backfilling. We stick with these proven methods to effectively manage three key factors:
Slow drainage
Excessive organic matter in the top 1–2 inches
Severe compaction between 4–8 inches deep
To address the first two factors, we use our golf course aerifier to remove a ½-inch diameter core of turf to a depth of 4 inches These openings are then filled with fresh sand. When organic matter accumulates in the upper 1–2 inches, surface drainage slows significantly Creating channels with fresh sand allows water to move more freely through the profile, promoting a healthier growing environment for the turf. Without adequate drainage, especially during periods of high summer temperatures, the greens can retain too much moisture, leading to heat stress and turf loss.
To further improve conditions, we utilize the drill-and-fill method, which targets both drainage and deeper soil compaction. This process drills to a depth of approximately 8 inches before injecting high-quality sand into the profile. Not only does this enhance surface drainage and move water more efficiently into the subsurface drainage system, but it also breaks through the compacted layer typically found between 4–8 inches below the surface.
As mentioned in my Course Update from April 29, 2025, these practices are not temporary; they are essential. Incorporating them into our annual spring aerification program ensures the long-term health, playability, and consistency of our greens.

Deep Well Update
After extensive discussion with the drilling company, the decision was made to move forward with Phase 2 of the deep well project.
This phase included replacing the burned-out motor with a new unit. While the piping was removed from the ground, it was carefully inspected for pitting and thread deterioration at connection points. Based on that evaluation, it was determined that all existing piping should also be replaced. In addition, the 20-year-old pump—having exceeded its expected lifespan—will be replaced while the system is already disassembled.
The drilling company installed 15 feet of concrete grout at the bottom of the well shaft, a method that has proven effective in preventing poor-quality water from migrating into the well. As of today, all new components have been successfully installed, and the well is fully operational. Water quality will be monitored throughout the season, with testing conducted on a regular schedule.

Golf Course Update, continued
Tahoma 31 Bermudagrass Tees
You may recall that last winter’s weather was especially harsh on our Tahoma tees, including the Driving Range, Championship Hole #4 tee, and Championship Hole #12 tee. In contrast, this past winter followed a more typical pattern, with some snowfall, occasional low temperatures that were not prolonged, and enough warmer days to break up the cold stretches. As a result, I was optimistic that we might avoid winter kill on the Tahoma surfaces.
When we removed the covers this past Monday, the turf quality exceeded my expectations. The surfaces had greened up nicely, density was strong, and the turf was already actively growing. It was very encouraging to see this level of health so early in the season.
Now that the covers are off, our next steps will include treating the Poa annua that germinated over the winter and applying an additional layer of sand. We will continue to monitor weather conditions over the coming week to ensure the tees are growing sufficiently before opening them, allowing for proper recovery from divots.

Recent Inquires
I’ve been asked a few times recently why we are setting the Blue tee markers in some unusual locations This is intentional for this time of year, as the Zoysia turf has not yet reached a stage where it can effectively recover from divots or foot traffic.
A good example is the Championship Hole #8 Gold/Blue tee. While this tee may not receive many divots, it does experience concentrated foot traffic in a relatively small area due to the limited size of the teeing surface. This restricts our ability to spread tee markers laterally or rotate them forward and back. As a result, you may occasionally see both markers placed together on the back portion of the tee or the Blue marker temporarily moved forward to the next teeing area.
Championship Hole #10, Blue tee presents a similar situation, with the added challenge of divot damage. In this case, we may shift markers to the Gold or White tees to better manage wear and preserve turf conditions. Once the Zoysia enters its active growing phase, it will be better equipped to recover, and we will return tee marker placements to their normal setup.

Although we have seen many of you, we understand that April signifies the start of the season for several members. We are looking forward to another exceptional year of golf activities and are excited to see everyone back enjoying the golf course once again.
Members are encouraged to review ForeTees for all golf event registrations, sign-ups, and golf-related activities. As many of you know, this is the primary platform for staying informed about upcoming golf events and clinics throughout the season.
The course has recently undergone green aeration as part of the ongoing commitment to providing premier playing conditions.
As the greens continue to recover, we kindly remind all members of the importance of repairing ball marks. This collective effort, in partnership with our maintenance team, is essential to maintaining smooth and consistent putting surfaces throughout the year.
We are excited to introduce an additional offering this year for kids in the Junior Golf Program. There are now clinic options in the month of April. Recognizing that summer schedules can be quite full, these early-season clinics provide added flexibility for our junior golfers. Our traditional summer clinics will continue as well. Please refer to ForeTees for complete details, including dates and times for all skill groups.
The Golf Shop is fully stocked with new merchandise for the season, and we invite you to stop in and explore the latest offerings. Additionally, we will host four professional fitting days in April, featuring Callaway, TaylorMade, Mizuno, and Titleist. These events present an excellent opportunity to experience the newest equipment and receive expert guidance tailored to your game. Please look for emails from the golf professional staff on dates and sign-up information.

Well, there are no golf scores to report for March. Things were busy, but the schedule and weather threw things for a loop.
President Sherman was busy organizing two divot-filling sessions on Mondays. More importantly, he and JT reviewed the 2026 senior schedule at the seniors' opening luncheon in front of a packed house of almost 40 members.

Nine Hole Spring Scramble: Thursday, April 30th
Ladies of the Nine Hole league, make sure you sign up on ForeTees for our Nine Hole Spring Scramble coming up on Thursday, April 30, with a shotgun start at 9:30 am. The fun theme is Mulligan's Island, so please dress up! The format is a comfortable four-person scramble, and $30 per person includes lunch, golf, and prizes!
Girls Night Out! Wednesday, May 6th
One of the BEST events of the year is our ladies league Girls Night Out! All 9 hole, 18 hole and Wednesday league players are welcome. It's a 5:30 pm shotgun start and a four-person scramble format. We will play the front 9 of the Championship Course. Teams will be created randomly, so please notify the golf shop if there is someone you would like to play with. All levels of play are welcome. This is the perfect chance to meet other ladies in an upbeat, casual atmosphere! Sign up on Foretees starting on 4/6.
Spring has arrived, and with it our 2026 golf season! Welcome back, ladies! Here‘s to sunny days, straight drives, and making memories on the course. Let's make this our best season yet! Let's enjoy the camaraderie, laughter, and friendships that make the 18 Hole League so special. Happy Golfing!
Match play sign-ups opened on March 25th. For single-match play, players will be seeded by handicap index, and the tournament will be a single elimination bracket. For Team Match Play, teams will be seeded by their combined handicap index. Sign-ups close on April 21st. Match play will begin on May 4th.
Regular Play began on March 31st! We are continuing the same sign-in process as the last couple of seasons with the modified sign-in sheet. As you sign in for your round, you will choose either Yes to opt in for the $5 game or No to opt out. Yes will be the default option if for some reason you forget to choose.
The first event of the season will be our Spring Mixer on Tuesday, April 14th, 8:30 am Shotgun start with lunch to follow. Let's "Spring into Golf" by wearing your prettiest pastels for this four-person scramble. Spots are still available, so sign up on Foretees by April 10th.
Girls Night Out is May 6th, 5:30 pm shotgun start. This event is open to all 9-Hole, 18-Hole, and Wednesday evening league ladies. Play will be on the Front 9 of the Championship Course. Sign up on Foretees from April 6th through May 3rd.
