2025 IMPACT REPORT

Uniting Agriculture and Medicine to Support Food as Medicine for All

Uniting Agriculture and Medicine to Support Food as Medicine for All Agriculture broadly defined for a diversity of food ways to include farmers, foragers, fishers, seed savers, subsistence hunters, ranchers, wild-crafters, pastoralists, forest producers, and more. Medicine broadly defined for a diversity of health ways to include all those engaged in health, and healing practices. About Us Welcome to our growing global network of farmers, gardeners, fishers, foragers, ranchers, subsistence hunters, healers, health professionals, hospitals, clinics, educators, students, wild-crafters, cooks, consumers, pastoralists, forest producers, and many others united by a shared vision of food as medicine for all. Together, we are cultivating a vibrant community where we can learn from one another and work toward a more equitable and inclusive food-as-medicine movement worldwide. Our Why The idea of food as medicine resonates with many in health care and food production. Nutrition is increasingly integrated into health professional training, patient care, and discussions around farming, fishing, ranching, and other food systems. However, people across many communities who want to eat well cannot access healthy or even enough food. Many of those producing and providing our food and health care navigate a multitude of inequities. Activities include: Hosting Eco-Friendly Education Events Publishing Educational Content Facilitating a Global Online Community Site

Join us in creating a more equitable and inclusive food as medicine movement!

Year in Review Throughout 2025, our organization continued to strengthen community and professional connections. Our Online Community Site grew to more than 700 members and our LinkedIn network expanded to nearly 11,000 professionals across diverse fields. These connections form the foundation of the shared learning and collaboration we value so highly, especially during times of challenge. In November, we successfully hosted our third eco-friendly, fully virtual global conference, bringing together inspiring presenters and engaged participants from around the world who are advancing work at the intersections of food, health, social justice, community, and planetary well-being. Read More To help more people benefit from our educational programming, we also published a Conference Highlights video featuring excerpts from our 2023–2024 events. We hope it offers a glimpse of the key insights shared and an opportunity for everyone to continue learning, wherever they are. We also expanded our Resource Directory, which now features over 40 organizations and initiatives working toward positive food system change. This growing directory serves as a valuable tool for collaboration and collective action. Throughout the year, we supported workforce development and career advancement by sharing 60 job opportunities with our community, helping connect members to employment and professional growth opportunities. We also strengthened our presence across the broader professional landscape through speaking engagements and conference participation. We presented at the Food Cultures & Social Justice Conference, tabled at NUNM's Food as Medicine Symposium, and attended the Resilience and Resistance: Cross-Pollinating Food Movements Conference, the International Congress on Integrative Medicine & Health, the Online Biodynamic Conference, Sowing the Seeds of a Future Agriculture, and the ICGMV 2025 Conference: A Group Visit for Every Body—building enriching relationships, sharing best practices, and amplifying our mission. We are also happy to share that Food as Medicine Global was honored to be accepted as a member of the Agroecology Coalition and 1% for the Planet, reflecting our deep commitment to ecological, just, and sustainable food systems. None of this progress would be possible without the people in this community. As we reflect on a year of growth, connection, and shared purpose, we are filled with deep appreciation for everyone who contributed their time, energy, and resources. A heartfelt thank you to our members. Your commitment and belief in this work are the foundation of our impact. We are also grateful to our conference presenters for so generously sharing their knowledge and expertise, and to all who joined our live conference sessions for bringing enthusiasm, curiosity, and thoughtful engagement. We extend our deepest gratitude to our sponsors, whose generosity and support made our annual eco-friendly online event possible. Special thanks to Dr. Griffin McMath for co-hosting the conference and bringing her expertise in facilitating meaningful conversations, and to Noah Dolan for his outstanding video production work. In addition to preparing all of the presentation recordings, Noah produced our Conference Highlights video. Thanks to all of You for being part of this grassroots, community-led movement. Together, we are cultivating a future rooted in care, equity, and nourishing connection. Let’s keep the momentum growing!

Heather and her team do a wonderful job planning, curating, and hosting this conference. I’m already looking forward to the 2026 Food Justice Conference!” "Participating in the Food As Medicine 2025 Food Justice Conference was so special -- everyone who attended was so passionate, sincere, engaged, kind, and thoughtful. I was very glad I added other sessions -- there was such an incredible variety of topics. The Food As Care, High Fiber Interventions for a Healthier Gut, and Farm My School sessions were particularly engaging and inspiring." “A platform as such removes multiple barriers of attending such wholesome and unique presentations enabling the share of knowledge, experience, and love for this topic. I especially love that we are all treated equally regardless of our education, degrees or experiences so thank you - this really supports highlighting grassroots approaches to achieve a shared goal.” “Being a part of a diverse network of attendees allowed us to share what we do to a wider audience. This presents the opportunity to broaden the reach of our work and the potential for greater collaboration. We are grateful for this.” “For someone becoming a future Registered Dietitian, I find all the work done in the world of food justice truly inspiring. Everyone who spoke comes from all different walks of life from all over the globe, who all share the rooted knowledge that food is medicine and that food justice is imperative to cultivating a healthy and just society. We are all united on the front that food is connection and cultivating it ethically and sustainably is essential to ensuring a better world for ourselves and the future generations. At the end of conference, I found that each and every one of us is responsible for sowing the seeds for justice, and small steps toward that creates a ripple effect in our culture, society, and the world.”
