CHILDREN MAKE OUR LIFE MORE MEANINGFUL, JOYFUL & WORTH-LIVING

The arrival of a child marks a seismic shift in the human experience. It is not merely the addition of a new person to a household, but the introduction of a new lens through which the entire world is viewed. The abstract search for purpose, a perennial human pursuit, suddenly resolves into clarity. Life, once a self-directed journey, becomes a shared odyssey, rich with responsibilities, challenges, and a quality of joy that defies easy categorization. Children, in their very essence, transform existence from a routine sequence of days into a vibrant tapestry woven with love, purpose, and a profound sense of continuity. This transformation is multifaceted, touching every corner of the human spirit and redefining what it means to be alive.

The

Alchemy

of Unconditional Love:

Perhaps the most immediate and impactful way children bring meaning to life is through the raw, unfiltered expression of unconditional love. It is a love devoid of conditions, judgments, or expectations.

The Purity of Affection: A toddler’s rush for a hug, a child’s insistence on holding a parent’s

hand, a teenager’s quiet trust—these are powerful affirmations of connection. In an adult world often governed by transactional relationships and conditional acceptance, this purity of affection is a healing balm. It reminds us of our fundamental worth, not for what we achieve or possess, but for simply existing as their parent or guardian. This form of love anchors us, providing a bedrock of emotional security that makes all of life’s complexities more manageable.

The Amplifier of Joy:

Children are natural joy amplifiers. Their laughter is infectious, their excitement over the simplest things—a new bug, a splash in a puddle, the first snowfall—serves as a powerful antidote to adult cynicism. They force us to step outside our preoccupations and engage with the immediacy of the present moment. Their unreserved happiness is a daily lesson in the power of mindfulness and the importance of finding wonder in the ordinary, making life not just meaningful, but actively joyful.

The Compass of Purpose: Before children, an individual’s purpose might be cantered on career advancement, personal fulfilment,

or abstract ideals. With children, purpose becomes concrete, tangible, and urgent. The Mantle of Responsibility: The moment a child is born, the mantle of responsibility settles firmly on the parent’s shoulders. The need to provide, protect, and nurture becomes a primary, undeniable driver. This shift in focus is a powerful antidote to selfabsorption or existential drift. Decisions are no longer just about “me”; they are about “us.” This responsibility shapes character, demanding selflessness, resilience, and a forward-thinking mindset.

A Future-Oriented Life:

Children inherently orient us towards the future. We work not just for today’s comfort, but for their education, their safety, and their potential. We think about the kind of world they will inherit. This future-gazing infuses daily actions with long-term significance. Building a stable home, participating in community, advocating for a better environment—these actions gain an urgency and a profound relevance when viewed through the lens of a child’s future well-being. This sense of being a steward for the next generation is a core component of a life well-lived and meaningful.

EDITOR -IN - CHIEF From the Desk of

The Power of Curiosity: A child’s insistent “Why?” is not just an interrogation; it is an invitation to explore the mechanics and mysteries of the universe. They notice the texture of tree bark, the pattern of shadows, the precise sound of a specific bird. By engaging with their curiosity, adults are often reminded of the inherent magic in the everyday world they have long taken for granted. This rekindled sense of wonder makes the world a richer, more engaging place, turning mundane existence into a continuous adventure of discovery.

The Legacy and the Chain of Generations:

Human beings possess a deep-seated desire for continuity, a hope that something of ourselves will endure beyond our physical lives. Children are the most potent and tangible fulfilment of this desire. The Unbroken Chain: Through children, we see traits of grandparents and great-grandparents, in gestures, the shape of their eyes, or a shared sense of humour. This connection to ancestry provides a powerful sense of belonging within a larger, unbroken chain of humanity. It grounds us in history and gives our own existence context within the broader human story.

Passing on Values and Wisdom:

Parenthood is the primary venue for transmitting our values, beliefs, and lessons learned. The effort put into teaching a child empathy, integrity, kindness, and resilience is an act of legacy building. It ensures that the best parts of our own experience and the values we hold dear continue to have an impact long after we are gone. This link to the future provides a deep sense of permanence and meaning.

Becoming

Better Humans: Parenthood is a demanding journey that often acts as a crucible for personal growth. The challenges faced—sleep deprivation, behavioural hurdles, the constant need for patience—push individuals far beyond their perceived limits. Fostering Empathy and Patience: There is no greater teacher of empathy than trying to understand the world from a child’s perspective, or of patience than enduring a toddler’s tantrum or a teenager’s mood swings. These experiences force us to develop emotional intelligence, communication skills, and a level of selfcontrol we might never have otherwise attained.

The Ultimate Affirmation of Life:

Kids do not just add meaning to life; they fundamentally are the meaning of life for countless individuals. They are mirrors reflecting our best selves and windows into the potential of humanity. They turn the abstract notion of “living a meaningful life” into a daily practice of love, sacrifice, joy, and growth.

From the first breath to the first word, the first step to their own independent lives, children provide a constant, evolving narrative that anchors us in the present, connects us to our past, and propels us with hope into the future. Life with children is messier, louder, and infinitely more complicated, but it is also profoundly richer, clearer, and truly worth living. They are our greatest teachers, our deepest loves, and the most compelling evidence that life is, ultimately, a gift of connection.

Introduces the Filigree IV Wristwear, the latest design

Guided by his enduring passion for blending India’s artistic legacy with contemporary design, Gaurav Mehta, Founder of Jaipur Watch Company, unveils the Filigree IV Wristwear; the latest evolution of the acclaimed Filigree collection. Continuing his mission to celebrate traditional artistry through modern horology, Gaurav draws inspiration from the ancient filigree jewellery-making technique- a meticulous craft where artisans delicately solder

fine metal threads into elegant motifs and lacy patterns. For centuries, this technique has been celebrated for its ornamental scrollwork and symmetrical Art Deco influences. This intricate art form, known for its symmetry and fluidity, is reinterpreted here with precision and restraint. In this special creation, Gaurav Mehta elevates the narrative further by incorporating the 2 Naya Paisa coin, a post-independence artifact minted between 1957 and 1963.

The coin’s inclusion infuses each timepiece with cultural and historical significance, transforming it into a wearable chronicle of India’s heritage.

The Filigree IV emerges as a refined successor introducing enhanced proportions, new colours & dimensions, and a reimagined case design that continues to reflect its commitment to craftsmanship, precision, and storytelling through time.

“The Filigree IV embodies our mission to preserve heritage while continually evolving our design language,” says Gaurav Mehta. “It’s a tribute to timeless craftsmanship, reimagined for today’s collectors.”

With Filigree IV, Jaipur Watch Company once again redefines the essence of Indian luxury horologywhere art, history, and time converge in a single masterpiece.

About Jaipur Watch Company

Founded in 2013 by Gaurav Mehta, Jaipur Watch Company is India’s first bespoke watch brand, known for its elegant timepieces that blend age-old Indian artistry with contemporary watchmaking. From rare coins to miniature paintings, each creation is thoughtfully designed to be a wearable piece of history — crafted with purpose, precision, and pride.

SANJEEVANI LAUNCHES SERIES OF NEW ADFILMS WITH ON CANCER SCREENING WITH VIDYA BALAN

National campaign urging Indians to embrace cancer screening before symptoms appear

The third edition of Sanjeevani: United Against Cancera transformative initiative by Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation, News18 Network, and knowledge partner Tata Trusts—launches today with a clarion call: early detection saves lives, and screening is everyone's responsibility, regardless of how fit they feel.

At the helm of this lifesaving movement stands Vidya Balan, the campaign's powerful voice and beacon for change. Through two evocative short films, she dismantles complacency and shatters the dangerous myth that fitness is a shield against cancer. Her unwavering advocacy challenges a nation to stop waiting for a crisis to act and instead embrace the empowering truth that early screening is the strongest defense against this silent epidemic. Two powerful narratives, one life-saving message.

The film confronts a deeply held misconception prevalent among health-conscious Indians. It showcases individuals dedicated to rigorous workouts, disciplined diets, and exemplary lifestyles - and then delivers an uncomfortable truth: fitness alone is not enough. Cancer respects no boundaries of discipline or health status. Vidya's reassuring yet confronting message cuts through: "Screening is not about fear. It's about hope and action."

In the other film, Vidya draws the parallel between filmmaking and life's most critical test. She reminds viewers that while scenes can be rehearsed and perfected, a missed screening cannot be undone. A missed sign could mean a missed chance at survival. This is the essence of why early screening matters - not as fearmongering, but as empowerment. Early detection transforms cancer from a death sentence into a manageable condition, restoring hope, time, and futures. The message is clear: early detection is the only true rehearsal life offers. Those who take it gain the most precious gift - time to act, time to heal, and time to live.

The campaign crystallises some non-negotiable truths:

· Early detection saves lives: Cancer develops silently, even in those who feel perfectly healthy. Early detection prevents disease progression and dramatically improves survival outcomes - this is not a promise; it is proven medical reality.

· Fitness is not a substitute for screening: A healthy lifestyle is admirable but incomplete. Cancer discriminates against no one. Proactive health screening is the true mark of self-care.

· Fear is not an excuse: Hesitation around diagnosis should never delay action. Awareness and timely intervention are not frighteningthey are empowering and lifesaving.

· Conversation defeats stigma: Open dialogue breaks silence. When families talk about screening, when communities normalize testing, when individuals encourage one another to get screened—stigma crumbles, and lives are saved.

Talking about the initiative, M V S Murthy, Chief Marketing Officer of Federal Bank said, "At Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation, we believe health is not an expense - it is an investment in India's future. Through Sanjeevani, we have reached thousands of people across the country, and this year we are determined to reach even more. Early detection is not a privilege; it is a right that must reach every Indian. These films, powered by Vidya Balan's conviction, will inspire millions to make that potentially life-saving choice. Because when screening becomes habit, survival becomes possible"

“Sanjeevani is redefining purposedriven storytelling, where communication sparks participation. Awareness alone doesn’t save lives; early screening does. That’s why, through partnerships with Federal Bank Hormis Memorial Foundation and Tata Trusts and activations across India, we’ve moved beyond conversations to create measurable impact: millions reached, thousands screened. With Vidya Balan lending her voice to this movement, we’re finding new cultural touchpoints that inspire action - because real change begins when people move from knowing to doing,” said Siddharth Saini, COO of News18 Studios.

“Beyond our secondary research, and after many calls and discussions with our friends, families and their peer groups, we discovered that the most ignorant audience was the fitness enthusiast. Driven by the finding that ‘it is the fit ones

who tend to believe that they do not need cancer screening’, we chose the most direct setting of a gym conversation that tackles this inaccurate mindset. We hope this film reaches out to all fitness enthusiasts and makes them believe that cancer screening is for them as well, just as important as it is for everybody.” Said Surojit Sen Co-Founder and CEO, Huddlers Innovation Private Limited.

The Critical Power of Early Detection

With over 70% of cancer cases in India still diagnosed at late stages—when treatment becomes exponentially harder, costlier, and less effective—the window for prevention and cure remains devastatingly small. Sanjeevani's mission cuts through the noise: the moment of detection determines the trajectory of a life.

Conceptualized by Huddlers Innovation Private Limited, these films reject fear-based messaging in favor of actionable hope. They speak to the heart of what matters: dignity, agency, and the power of choice. Vidya Balan's presence ensures that Sanjeevani remains deeply human - acknowledging the real anxieties around cancer while centering the transformative power of early intervention.

The films are available across Sanjeevani's digital ecosystem, News18 Network's broadcast channels, and select streaming platforms starting today. Every view, every conversation, and every screening brings India closer to a future where cancer is met not with silence and despair, but with hope, timely care, and the fierce determination to survive.

Chanel won the first edition of Monaco’s Grand Prix de la Haute Joaillerie (GPHJ). It was the Parisian fashion house’s urban-inspired Sweater Prestige necklace that enabled it to stand out at this prestigious event celebrating creativity, excellence, and exceptional jewelry-making expertise.

On October 25, 2025, Monaco sparkled under the lights of the first Grand Prix de la Haute Joaillerie, an event destined to redefine the world of High Jewelry. Celebrating creativity, excellence, and savoirfaire, this inaugural edition brought together the most prestigious jewelry houses from across the globe for an evening devoted to artistry and innovation. At the heart of this celebration, CHANEL emerged as the undisputed star, winning the coveted Grand Prix de la Haute Joaillerie – Best Piece of the Year with its remarkable creation, the Sweater Prestige necklace.

A masterpiece of contrasts and craftsmanship, the Sweater Prestige embodies CHANEL’s timeless dialogue between elegance and modernity. Crafted in white gold, platinum, diamonds, emeralds, and onyx, it is adorned with eleven emerald-cut emeralds totaling 37.18 carats. The design, part of the Haute Joaillerie Sport collection, reinterprets the house’s historic affinity with sport — a theme rooted in Gabrielle Chanel’s revolutionary vision of effortless chic since the 1920s. Inspired by sweatshirts and drawstrings, the Sweater Prestige transforms the codes of casual wear into a symphony of precious materials and refined craftsmanship. It captures the essence of CHANEL’s creative spirit: bold yet sophisticated, contemporary yet timeless.

The Grand Prix de la Haute Joaillerie, judged by an independent panel of international experts, also honored other Maisons across categories such as Design, Heritage, Savoir-Faire, and Gemstones. Yet, it was CHANEL’s daring fusion of athletic inspiration and haute artistry that captivated the jury — and set a new benchmark for modern High Jewelry.

Fantasmagory’s Les Extraits Fragrance Collection

FNH - FASHION & TRENDS

Louis Vuitton continues its exploration of olfactory artistry with Fantasmagory, the latest addition to its Les Extraits Collection—a line that has redefined the boundaries of perfume since its debut in 2021. Brought to life by master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud and visionary architect Frank Gehry, the series celebrates the union of scent and sculpture, merging two creative disciplines into a singular expression of beauty and innovation.

Guided by a shared spirit of freedom and artistic daring, Cavallier Belletrud and Gehry reinterpret the traditional codes of perfumery and design. Their collaboration reflects a fascination with deconstruction—stripping elements down to their essence before reimagining them anew. The result is a collection that challenges convention while remaining deeply rooted in emotion and craftsmanship, embodying the Maison’s philosophy of “creating revolutions, not rifts.”

With Fantasmagory, Cavallier Belletrud turns his gaze toward one of perfumery’s most recognisable ingredients: vanilla. But this is no familiar gourmand accord—instead, the perfumer captures its duality and luminosity, unveiling a version that feels unexpectedly fresh, radiant, and modern.

Inspired by 18th-century “phantasmagoria” light shows that blurred the line between dream and illusion, the fragrance plays with the idea of transformation through radiance. At its heart lies tahitensis vanilla from Papua New Guinea, prized for its soft, sunlit quality. The pods are cryogenically frozen before CO₂ extraction, a meticulous process that preserves their purity and depth, allowing the scent to glide over the skin like silk.

Accents of Italian almond lend a creamy smoothness reminiscent of amaretto, while CO₂-extracted ginger adds a subtle vibrancy—a flash of warmth that sparkles rather than burns. Together, these notes form a composition that feels alive with contrast. For Fantasmagory, Frank Gehry revisits his sculptural dialogue with perfume, reshaping the Les Extraits bottle into something both fluid and ethereal.

His interpretation captures the tension between movement and stillness—the glass softened and rounded, the cap transformed into fluttering silver petals that seem to dance in the air. The fragrance within glows a soft yellow with hints of green, mirroring the luminosity of the scent itself. It’s clear that Fantasmagory is an ode to transformation. To the way light can shift perception, and how something familiar can be reborn through imagination. It captures Louis Vuitton’s enduring pursuit of creativity and emotion, where craftsmanship meets audacity, and scent becomes art.

LOUIS VUITTON Expands its Jewelry Line for 2025

Louis Vuitton’s celebrated Le Damier de Louis Vuitton collection ushers in a new era of sophistication with its latest evolution for 2025. First launched in 2024, the line drew inspiration from the Maison’s legendary Damier motif, translating its geometric precision into fluid, tactile jewelry that wears like a second skin. This season, the collection reveals a fresh chapter with the introduction of a pink gold finish—a radiant new tone that joins the existing yellow and white gold designs to offer limitless possibilities for self-styling and personal expression.

The addition of pink gold infuses the collection with warmth and versatility, further expanding the unisex line’s modern sensibility. Rings, bracelets, earrings, pendants, and necklaces have all been reimagined in this striking hue, reflecting Louis Vuitton’s dedication to technical excellence and contemporary artistry. Three new necklaces headline the 2025 collection, each hand-polished and assembled link by link. The designs feature various widths and finishes—a 3.5mm pink gold necklace, a 5mm yellow gold version, and a 7mm white gold

piece—crafted to capture light and movement with every turn. Their versatility encourages layering, stacking, and mixing metals, allowing wearers to compose their own expressions of luxury.

Two new rings debut in pink gold, available in two different widths, designed to harmonize with the existing seven styles across the line. Meanwhile, a slim 3.5mm pink gold bracelet and a broader 5mm white gold iteration join the portfolio, offering an expanded range of textures and dimensions that make stacking effortless and refined.

The Maison also enhances its pendants and earrings. The delicate single round pendant, accented with diamonds, now appears in pink and white gold to complement the debut yellow gold edition. A newly introduced smaller single hoop earring—available in all three gold finishes—adds a subtle accent ideal for layering with the collection’s existing larger hoops.

What distinguishes Le Damier de Louis Vuitton is the craftsmanship hidden within its apparent simplicity. Each jewel recalls the Damier motif through polished squares set with round diamonds in slightly oblique orientations, accented by four-grain settings and a central geometric line that anchors the design.

The construction of the necklaces and bracelets mirrors that of a fine watch bracelet, with individually assembled links and a deliberate gap between each to achieve fluid motion and tactile softness. Even the clasp is seamlessly integrated into the design, reinforcing the Maison’s devotion to both artistry and engineering precision.

This meeting of geometry and sensuality results in jewelry that feels as dynamic as it looks—pieces that move with the wearer, catching light in subtle rhythms and echoing the Maison’s timeless sense of motion. Modern and graphic with a touch of timeless allure, Le Damier de Louis Vuitton continues to evolve as a symbol of individuality and innovation. By expanding its palette to include pink gold and introducing new modular designs, Louis Vuitton reaffirms its commitment to offering

jewelry that transcends boundaries of gender and occasion. Each piece invites its wearer to explore selfexpression through craftsmanship— an ethos that remains at the heart of the Maison’s fine jewelry creations. Le Damier de Louis Vuitton 2025 encapsulates this philosophy, radiating with the same creative energy and audacious spirit that has defined Louis Vuitton since 1854. The Damier motif remains integral to the collection, composed of gold squares with round diamond settings

smaller hoop and a single diamond pendant that reflect the collection’s geometric balance. The addition of pink gold brings warmth and tactility, opening new possibilities for styling while maintaining the clarity and discipline that define Louis Vuitton’s approach to modern jewelry design.

Prada’s Latest Galleria Bag Campaign with Scarlett Johansson

It’s no surprise that Yorgos Lanthimos, when asked to create an advert for a handbag, would turn in a surrealist short film featuring witchcraft, shoplifting and a modern twist on Frankenstein. Prada’s new campaign for its signature handbag, Galleria, is directed by Lanthimos and stars Scarlett Johansson, who is appearing as the face of Galleria for a third time. Titled Ritual Identities, the film features the off-kilter humour, playful imagery and gothic flourishes which define Lanthimos’s style. In it, Johannson portrays three different characters.

The first is a guru (or witch?) advising on the completion of a mysterious ritual, with ingredients including “morning breeze – not after 12 noon, not before five AM; rainwater that drips from a non-blooming cherry

tree; the ashes of a song score – can be any song that talks about love or pain; a piece of porcelain from a rare, antique Chinese Vase” and “three drops of blood drawn at nighttime.” Interspersed with these monologues,

we see Johannson travelling around New York and capturing these items in a Galleria handbag: shaking a tree, holding her bag up to the wind and “accidentally” smashing a vase in an antique store before

pocketing a fragment. Finally, after the contents of the bag are deposited into a mysterious black sphere, a third Johansson is born, like a more elegant, well-dressed Frankenstein’s monster who knew how to serve.

As Johannson told, “the idea for this Prada campaign is a play on identity, the identities that live within all of us, the different masks we wear, the different characters we play, the different people we are with other people, in different relationships. The work becomes personally meaningful because you start to really feel it as you’re saying it, it starts to live more inside you – and then, you can really explore.

This film is less about assuming a character, more about expressing different versions of myself.” This is the first time Lanthimos has collaborated with Prada (and the first time he’s worked with Johansson), but the brand is no stranger to working with the greatest filmmakers of 21st-century cinema. Last year’s Galleria campaign – also starring Johnson – was helmed by Jonathan Glazer, the Oscar-winning director of The Zone of Interest, while the first campaign focused on the bag, launched in 2021 and

starring Hunter Schafer, was directed by indie darling Xavier Dolan. Lanthimos has received multiple Academy Award nominations for his films, including The Favourite and Poor Things (for which Olivia Colman and Emma Stone won Best Actress, respectively.) At the Venice Film Festival, he recently premiered his latest film, Bugonia, a sci-fi black comedy about two young men who kidnap a powerful CEO (played by Stone) because they think she is an alien.

HERMÈS INTRODUCED TWO NEW TITANIUM VARIATIONS

Hermès has introduced two new titanium variations of its H08 watch, a sleek, geometric model that leans into the masculine, sporty side of the maison. First debuted at Watches & Wonders in 2021, the new models keep the original’s 39mm proportions and characteristic cushion-shaped case, taking inspiration from the numbers zero and eight, with it’s own unique typeface specifically created to perpetuate the modern look.

The Hermès H08 has always been one with split loyalties. A dress watch finesse with an athlete’s physique, it was designed to slip from boardroom to bike trail without breaking stride. The first iteration is Hermès at its most understated. A grained lighttoned dial, cushion-shaped titanium case and Arabic numerals that glow after dark. A single orange flick at the end of the seconds hand is the only indulgence, a nod to house codes and a small reminder of Hermès’ penchant for merging function with flourish. It comes with the option for three rubber straps in orange, bleu abysse or black.

The second model brings colour to the front. Its numerals, treated in bleu Saint-Cyr Super-LumiNova, animate a grey dial beneath a black ceramic bezel that alternates between brushed and polished finishes. Paired with rubber straps in grey or matching Saint-Cyr blue, it’s a sharper-edged take on the H08, less anonymous and more expressive.

Inside, both watches are powered by Hermès’ inhouse H1837 selfwinding calibre, a 193-component movement with a 50-hour reserve and a rotor decorated in a scatter of “H”s. Water resistance is rated to 10 bar, and the anti-glare sapphire crystal keeps the focus on those dials. The dimensions remain a versatile 42 mm, sitting squarely in that territory of watchmaking where proportion and wearability matter as much as the spec sheet. The H08 perfectly conveys Hermès’ approach to sport – as a pastime of leisure. It has always carried a sense of the Parisian in its geometry, a cushion case that sits between square and round and the contrast of materiality. What Hermès is suggesting here is that timekeeping doesn’t need to shout to make a statement. Sometimes all it takes is a new shade of blue, or a single orange second hand, to remind us that utility can still be elegant.

PATEK PHILIPPE| GONDOLO SERATA “ZÈBRES”

With its fusion of high jewelry artistry, contemporary aesthetics, and timeless horology, the Gondolo Serata “Zèbres” embodies the elegant sophistication that defines Patek Philippe. Patek Philippe enriches its women’s collection with a creation that blends artistry, technical mastery, and refined elegance: the Gondolo Serata “Zèbres”

With its signature Art Deco curves reinterpreted in a contemporary spirit, this new timepiece redefines the concept of the evening watch— perfect for both day and night. The star of this creation is the sapphirecrystal dial, engraved and inked on both sides to produce a captivating zebra motif with striking depth and dimensionality. Inspired by the Golden Ellipse in cloisonné enamel, this dial combines black metallization and white lacquer on the reverse, creating a dynamic play

of light and texture. Elegant rosegold leaf-shaped hands and applied Breguet numerals at 12 and 6 o’clock complete the sophisticated design. The rose-gold case (28.6 × 40.85 mm) sparkles with 94 brilliant-cut spessartites (2.02 ct) arranged in a double color gradient—from warm “cognac” tones at 12 and 6 o’clock to vibrant “mandarin” hues at 3 and 9. This interplay of colors and sizes enhances the cambered profile and asymmetrical curves that gracefully embrace the wrist.

The watch is paired with a white satinfinished calfskin strap and a rose-gold pin buckle engraved with the Patek Philippe logo. At its heart beats the Patek Philippe E15 quartz caliber, whose components receive the same meticulous finishing as the Manufacture’s mechanical movements—affirming the brand’s unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and beauty in every detail. With its fusion of high jewelry artistry, contemporary aesthetics, and timeless horology, the Gondolo Serata “Zèbres” embodies the elegant sophistication that defines Patek Philippe.

Essential Winter Wears For the Newborns

THE BEST GUIDE FOR PARENTS

Welcoming a newborn into your life brings immeasurable joy — and a fair share of responsibility. One of the biggest challenges parents face during winter is figuring out how to dress their little one comfortably and safely. With so many adorable options available,

choosing the right winter clothes for newborns can be overwhelming. This guide simplifies the process by walking you through the essentials of newborn winter clothing — from layering techniques to choosing the right fabrics, sizes, and features to keep your baby snug and happy all season long.

Why Choosing the Right Winter Clothes Matters

Newborns are sensitive to changes in temperature and cannot regulate their body heat like adults. The right winter wear protects them from the cold while ensuring breathability and comfort. Dressing your baby correctly during winter helps them stay warm without overheating, supporting healthy sleep and easy movement. The goal is simple — keep your baby cozy, not sweaty, and comfortable enough to nap, feed, and play without discomfort.

1. THE ART OF LAYERING

The golden rule for dressing newborns in winter is layering. Instead of relying on a single thick outfit, it’s better to use multiple thin layers that can be added or removed easily. Start with a soft cotton or organic cotton bodysuit as the base layer. This helps absorb moisture and keeps the skin dry. Add a warm romper, fleece pullover, or knitted cardigan as the middle layer for insulation. Finally, for outdoor outings, finish with a snowsuit or padded jacket that blocks wind and keeps your baby protected from the chill.Avoid over-layering — too many clothes can cause overheating. A good rule of thumb is to dress your baby in one more layer than you would wear in the same weather.

2. CHOOSING THE RIGHT FABRICS

Fabric choice plays a crucial role in keeping your baby comfortable. Since newborn skin is delicate, avoid rough or synthetic materials that can cause irritation.

• Cotton: Ideal for inner layers as it’s soft, breathable, and gentle on the skin.

• Fleece: Great for middle layers; it traps heat effectively without being heavy.

• Wool blends: Suitable for outerwear in very cold regions, but ensure it’s soft and lined to prevent itching.

• Waterproof materials: For outdoor jackets or snowsuits, choose water-resistant fabrics that also allow airflow. Always check the fabric’s label and ensure it’s hypoallergenic and safe for baby use.

3. COMFORT COMES FIRST

Comfort is the foundation of good winter dressing. Your newborn should be able to move freely and feel cozy in their clothes. Avoid overly tight or bulky outfits that restrict movement or make diaper changes difficult. Opt for stretchable waistbands, soft seams, and tagfree designs. For example, footed pyjamas, bodysuits with snap buttons, and rompers with front openings are not just adorable but practical for everyday wear. When babies feel comfortable, they sleep

better, cry less, and are more relaxed throughout the day.

4. PICKING THE RIGHT SIZE

Babies grow faster than most parents expect — especially in the first few months. To get the most out of your purchases, buy slightly larger sizes so that your newborn can grow into them. Look for clothes with elastic cuffs, adjustable waistbands, and expandable shoulders for a flexible fit. Slightly loose clothing also helps trap warm

air between layers, keeping your baby snug without making them feel constrained. Avoid overly tight outfits that can restrict circulation or make your baby fussy.

5. ESSENTIAL WINTER CLOTHING PIECES

Building a practical winter wardrobe doesn’t mean buying everything on the shelf. A few well-chosen pieces can go a long way in ensuring warmth, comfort, and style. Here’s what you need for your baby’s winter closet:

Bodysuits and Onesies

These are the foundation of every baby outfit. Go for long-sleeved bodysuits made from soft cotton or organic blends. Snap-button closures make diaper changes easier and faster.

ROMPERS: Rompers provide full-body coverage and are great for daytime use. Choose fleece-lined or quilted rompers for extra warmth, especially for outdoor strolls or family outings.

FOOTED

PYJAMAS: Perfect for bedtime, footed pyjamas keep your baby’s entire body — including their tiny feet — warm through the night. Pick snug-fitting designs made of cotton or thermal fabric for better insulation.

SWEATERS AND JACKETS:

For layering, light wool or fleece sweaters work best indoors, while padded jackets or snowsuits are perfect for outdoor use. Always check that jackets are lightweight and have smooth zippers or buttons.

CAPS,

MITTENS,

AND BOOTIES:

Babies lose a lot of body heat through their head, hands, and feet. Add soft cotton or wool caps, mittens, and booties to your winter wardrobe list to keep extremities covered and warm.

BLANKETS AND WRAPS:

Though not clothing, blankets and swaddles made from flannel or fleece are excellent add-ons for stroller rides or naps. Make sure they’re breathable and not too heavy.

6. FEATURES TO LOOK FOR

When buying winter wear, practical design features can make parenting much easier. Choose clothes with:

• Front or side openings (zippers, snap buttons) for easy dressing.

• Fold-over mittens and booties for built-in protection.

• Elasticized cuffs to keep warmth in and cold air out.

• Stretchy, tag-free necklines for fuss-free outfit changes.

• Simple, thoughtful designs ensure your baby stays cozy while making dressing and undressing less stressful for you.

7. DRESSING FOR INDOOR AND OUTDOOR CONDITIONS

FOR INDOORS: Keep clothing light and breathable. A cotton bodysuit with a warm romper or light sweater is ideal for indoor environments. Avoid overdressing, especially in heated rooms.

FOR OUTDOORS: Bundle up your baby before stepping out. A full-sleeve onesie, sweater, and insulated snowsuit will provide adequate warmth. Always cover their head, hands, and feet, and consider a stroller blanket or weather cover for windy or chilly days.

8. COLOUR AND STYLE CHOICES

Winter wear doesn’t have to be boring. Bright, cheerful colours like pastels, yellows, reds, and blues can lift your baby’s mood and look adorable in photos. Patterns such as stripes, stars, and animal motifs add a fun touch. Choosing stylish yet functional outfits lets you enjoy dressing your baby while ensuring practicality and comfort.

Keeping your newborn warm in winter is all about smart clothing choices. Focus on layering, soft and breathable fabrics, and easy-towear designs that balance comfort with warmth. Every baby is unique — observe how your little one reacts to temperature changes and adjust layers accordingly. With the right winter wardrobe, you can ensure your baby stays cozy, content, and well-dressed for every winter adventure.

How to Keep Your

BaBY’s skin silk Y smootH

Your baby’s delicate skin needs extra protection during winter. The cold air, low humidity, and indoor heating can strip away natural moisture, leaving the skin dry, flaky, and prone to irritation. Common skin issues such as cradle cap and eczema can worsen during this season, making it essential to give your baby’s skin the care it deserves. With a few simple steps and gentle routines, you can ensure your little one stays warm, comfortable, and silky smooth all winter long.

1. Snuggle Up in Warm Mittens, Caps, and Sweaters

Winter is the perfect time to enjoy those adorable moments when your baby peeks out from cozy layers of wool and fleece. Dress your baby in 2–3 layers of warm clothing, depending on how cold it is. Choose soft, breathable fabrics like cotton for the inner layers and snug sweaters or fleece jackets for outer layers. Always check to ensure your baby isn’t overheating—place your hand inside their clothing to feel their skin. If it’s too warm or damp with sweat, remove a layer. Keeping your baby comfortably warm, but not hot, helps maintain healthy skin and prevents irritation.

2. Relax and Rejuvenate with a Gentle Massage

A soothing oil massage is one of the best ways to protect your baby’s skin in winter. Not only does it strengthen muscles and improve blood circulation, but it also keeps the skin soft and nourished. Warm a small amount of oil between your palms or slightly heat it to a gentle temperature before applying. Massage your baby in a warm,

draft-free room, preferably before a bath or bedtime. Use slow, gentle strokes to make it a calming and bonding experience. Regular massages help the skin retain moisture and stay supple even in cold, dry air.

3. Give Baby a Soothing Warm Bath

A warm bath can be very relaxing for your baby during

chilly evenings, especially before bedtime. However, make sure the water is lukewarm, not hot, as high temperatures can remove the skin’s natural oils and cause dryness. Limit bath time to about five minutes to prevent dehydration of the skin. Use a mild, tear-free baby cleanser or soap with moisturizing properties to keep the skin soft. You can also make bath time fun and engaging by adding some colorful rubber toys to the tub, turning it into a happy, soothing experience for your baby.

4. Moisturize Immediately After Bath

After bathing, your baby’s skin is most receptive to hydration. Gently pat the skin dry with a soft towel and apply a generous layer of baby lotion or cream while the skin is still slightly damp. This helps lock in moisture effectively. For babies with dry or sensitive skin conditions such as eczema, frequent moisturization is essential throughout the day. Choose products with natural nourishing ingredients like olive oil, almond oil, shea butter, or milk proteins, which help protect and soothe the skin. Avoid products with harsh chemicals, artificial fragrances, or alcohol that could irritate delicate skin.

5.

Nothing Works Better Than a Cuddle!

Cuddling is nature’s way of keeping your baby warm and comforted. Your body heat helps regulate your baby’s temperature, especially when it’s cold outside. Holding your baby close also has emotional benefits— it releases oxytocin, the “happiness hormone,” which strengthens the parent-child bond and helps your

baby feel safe and loved. If your baby is a newborn or just a few months old, swaddling in a soft cotton or flannel blanket is another great way to keep them snug and cozy while providing a sense of security.

Additional Winter Care Tips

Use mild, hypoallergenic products: Always opt for dermatologist-tested, hypoallergenic skincare designed for babies. Hydrate from within: If your baby has started solids, ensure

adequate fluid intake through breast milk, formula, or water (if ageappropriate). Avoid over-bathing: Bathing too often can strip moisture from your baby’s skin. Two to three baths per week are sufficient in winter. Keep indoor air moist: Using a humidifier can prevent the dry indoor air from affecting your baby’s skin.

Gentle Care, Naturally

Winter skin care for babies doesn’t

have to be complicated—it’s all about maintaining warmth, hydration, and comfort. Whether it’s through gentle massages, quick lukewarm baths, or frequent moisturizing, each step adds to your baby’s overall wellness. Choose gentle, natural, and safe products made without harsh chemicals like SLS, parabens, or artificial colors. With mindful care and lots of cuddles, you can ensure your baby’s skin stays silky smooth, nourished, and glowing all winter long.

Superfoods for Nourishment & a Healthy Start for Newborns:

Iron-Fortified Baby Cereal

Breast Milk – Nature’s Perfect Food

Breast milk is the ultimate superfood for every newborn. It contains a perfect balance of nutrients, antibodies, and fats that support physical and cognitive development. It also boosts immunity and protects against infections. Beyond nutrition, breastfeeding strengthens the emotional bond between mother and child. The WHO recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months and continued breastfeeding alongside solids for up to two years or longer. For mothers unable to breastfeed, iron-fortified formula is a healthy and safe alternative.

As babies grow, their natural iron stores begin to decline. Iron is vital for producing healthy red blood cells and supporting brain development. Iron-fortified baby cereal is one of the best first foods to replenish this nutrient. Rice or oatmeal cereals are gentle on the stomach and easy to digest. You can mix them with breast milk or formula to create a smooth texture that’s easy for your baby to swallow. Gradually, you can add mashed fruits or vegetables to enhance both flavor and nutrition.

Eggs – A Powerhouse of Protein

Eggs are one of the most complete foods you can offer your baby. They’re packed with protein, choline (important for brain development), vitamin D, and healthy fats. Modern research suggests that introducing eggs early, once solids begin, can actually lower the risk of egg allergies. Start with well-cooked egg yolk mashed with a little breast milk or vegetable puree. Once tolerated, introduce the whole egg. Fully cooked scrambled or boiled eggs are excellent options as your baby becomes more confident with solids.

Avocado – A BrainBoosting Fruit

Avocado is one of the healthiest and most versatile first foods for babies. Packed with healthy monounsaturated fats, it supports brain and nervous system development. Its smooth texture and mild flavor make it easy to introduce. Avocados are also rich in potassium, vitamin E, and B vitamins. Simply mash a ripe avocado and serve it plain or mixed with a little breast milk or banana puree. This creamy fruit offers lasting energy and is perfect for your baby’s growing needs.

Sweet Potatoes –Naturally Nutritious

Sweet potatoes are a colorful, nutrient-rich addition to your baby’s diet. They’re high in beta-carotene, which converts into vitamin A — essential for healthy vision and a strong immune system. Their natural sweetness makes them appealing to babies, and their soft texture makes them easy to digest. Steam or bake the sweet potato, peel off the skin, and mash it into a smooth puree. You can combine it with lentils or vegetables for added nutrition. Sweet potatoes are also a good source of fiber, helping regulate digestion.

Banana – Gentle and Energizing

Bananas are often a baby’s first fruit — and for good reason. They are naturally sweet, soft, and loaded with potassium, vitamin B6, and carbohydrates that provide instant energy. Bananas are easy to digest and rarely cause allergies. Mash a ripe banana with a fork and serve it plain or mixed with cereal, avocado, or yogurt. They’re also travel-friendly and help maintain healthy bowel movements due to their fiber content. This humble fruit is both nourishing and comforting for growing babies.

• 1 tsp honey (Manuka, if possible)

• 1 tbsp yogurt

• 1 big squeeze of lemon juice (optional; this will help lighten dark spots whilst brightening)

METHOD:

Mix all the ingredients together, and apply to cleansed, dry skin. Leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing off.

The Exfoliator

By combining turmeric with creamy, cooling yogurt (which soothes, moisturizes, and gently exfoliates thanks to its lactic acid) and brown sugar (a great scrub that’s gentle on the skin), you can easily and effectively get rid of dead cells to reveal smoother, softer skin.

The Dry-Skin Savior

Give dry skin a jolt of hydration with turmeric, avocado (which is super rich in fatty acids to repair and nourish skin), and coconut milk (which is rich in good fats, vitamins, and minerals to moisturize and smooth skin’s texture).

INGREDIENTS:

• 1 tsp turmeric powder

• ½ avocado, mashed

• 1 tbsp coconut milk

METHOD:

Combine the three ingredients together before applying to cleansed, dry skin. Leave on for up to 30 minutes before washing off.

TAJ LAKE PALACE, UDAIPUR

EXPERIENCE AND EPITOME OF BEAUTY WITH THE LUXURIOUS HOSPITALITY

There are hotels that promise luxury, and then there are those rare places that feel as though they exist outside the boundaries of the world we know. Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur belongs to the latter. Floating like an apparition on the calm, shimmering waters of Lake Pichola, its white marble façade glows with a softness that seems almost unreal.

From the moment the palace comes into view, it carries a quiet authority, a romance that whispers through its arches and courtyards, and a sense of place so uniquely tied to Udaipur’s soul that one feels instinctively transported to a more graceful era. In the way that only a few hotels in the world can manage, Taj Lake Palace blurs the line between history and hospitality, between imagination and

reality, presenting an experience that is as poetic as it is luxurious. The story of Taj Lake Palace begins in 1743, when Maharana Jagat Singh II of Mewar dreamed of creating a pleasure retreat far removed from the obligations of court life. Instead of building on land, he chose an island at the very heart of Lake Pichola, allowing the surrounding water to serve as both boundary and ornament.

The palace that emerged a few years later, known then as Jag Niwas, was a marvel of marble and imagination. It was conceived not for grandeur but for beauty, created to celebrate the pleasures of moonlight gatherings, music-filled evenings, poetry recitals, and the art of leisure. Over time, it served as the summer residence for the royal family, a sanctuary where they could unwind, entertain, and embrace the quieter rhythms of palace life. Today, even as it operates as a luxury hotel, the building retains the intimacy and charm of a royal home, filled with frescoes, carved arches, and airy courtyards that echo the past.

A JOURNEY THAT BEGINS ON THE LAKE

The experience of Taj Lake Palace begins long before one steps inside its marble corridors. Unlike other heritage hotels, the palace can only be reached by boat, and that short journey across Lake Pichola sets the tone for everything that follows. The city slowly recedes, the gentle lapping of water becomes the only sound, and the palace appears to rise from the lake with an elegance that feels almost theatrical. The arrival ritual is timeless and understated: a warm greeting, a gentle shower of rose petals, traditional music that floats on the breeze, and the unmistakable feeling of stepping into a different world. As you cross the threshold, the bustle of Udaipur dissolves, giving way to serenity. Every corner of the palace seems touched by silence, light, and a sense

of heritage that has been carefully preserved over generations.

ARCHITECTURE THAT CELEBRATES LIGHT AND WATER

The architectural identity of Taj Lake Palace is defined by its intimate scale and harmonious relationship with nature. The palace is not imposing; it is enchanting. The interplay between water, marble, and sunlight is the first thing one notices. Mornings bring soft, pastel hues reflected on the lake’s surface, casting shimmering patterns onto the palace’s white walls. Afternoons feel warm and bright, with sunlight filtering through intricately carved jharokhas. Evenings are the most magical, as lanterns flicker against the marble and the palace appears to float in a halo of golden light.

The courtyards inside the palace deserve particular admiration. Designed around fountains, flowing water channels, and lush greenery, they act as breathing spaces—cool sanctuaries where guests can enjoy a cup of tea, listen to distant temple bells, or simply watch the lake shimmer beyond the archways. Frescoes grace the walls, their pigments still vivid after centuries, depicting scenes from Mewar’s regal history. Long corridors open into pillared pavilions and hidden nooks, each created with the intention of delighting those who wander through them. The craftsmanship throughout the palace feels delicate yet purposeful, a blend of artistic tradition and practical design that has withstood the test of time.

ROOMS

THAT CAPTURE THE SPIRIT OF ROYAL LIVING

Staying at Taj Lake Palace feels less like checking into a hotel and more like inhabiting a chapter of

Udaipur’s royal history. Each of the rooms and suites carries its own personality, shaped by views, décor, artwork, and architecture. While the rooms have been thoughtfully modernized, their soul remains deeply traditional, celebrating the region’s heritage with handcrafted

furniture, Rajasthani textiles, brass accents, marble floors, and elegant arches.

The standard rooms offer a gentle introduction to the palace’s charm, with serene views of the lake or courtyards. The palace rooms elevate

the experience, immersing guests in a refined blend of heritage décor and contemporary comfort. The royal suites, meanwhile, feel like private residences, each one with a distinct narrative. Some feature high ceilings adorned with intricate designs, while others open onto intimate balconies that overlook the lake at sunrise. The grand suites stand in a league of their

own, combining opulence, artistry, and a sense of timelessness. These expansive living spaces are designed to evoke the magnificence of royal chambers, complete with rich fabrics, ornate patterns, and panoramic views that stretch across Lake Pichola and the historic City Palace beyond. What makes the accommodations particularly special is the atmosphere they create.

At Taj Lake Palace, mornings feel slow and gentle, afternoons feel crisp and luminous, and nights feel enveloped in a soft embrace of silence and moonlight. Each moment inside these rooms is unforgettable, not because of extravagance, but because of how intimately they connect the guest to the palace, the lake, and the city.

CULINARY EXPERIENCES THAT CELEBRATE FLAVOUR AND SETTING

Dining at Taj Lake Palace is an experience that transcends food. It is as much about the atmosphere as it is about flavour, as much about the setting as it is about the craft. The

palace’s restaurants are thoughtfully positioned to celebrate the surrounding lake, with each offering a distinct mood. Neel Kamal, the palace’s signature Indian restaurant, pays homage to the culinary traditions of Rajasthan and the broader North Indian region. The setting is moody and sophisticated, inspired by traditional palace dining

rooms, and the food is rich in heritage. Laal maas, safed maas, dal baati churma, and delicately spiced kebabs are prepared with finesse, each dish telling its own story. There is a certain old-world elegance in the way meals unfold here, unhurried and deeply satisfying. Jharokha, the all-day dining venue, is bright,

airy, and designed to celebrate the lake. Breakfasts here are particularly memorable, with the morning sun illuminating the palace walls and the water glistening just beyond the terrace. Evenings bring a different charm, as gentle breezes and soft lighting create a calming backdrop

for a relaxed dinner. On the upper terrace, Bhairo offers Europeaninspired cuisine with one of the most romantic views in India. Dining here during sunset is an experience few guests ever forget, as the sky transforms into shades of amber and rose and Udaipur lights up along the lakeshore.

Private dining at the palace is perhaps its most enchanting offering. Whether it is an intimate candlelit dinner by the lily pond, a customcurated meal on the terrace under a canopy of stars, or a floating dining experience on a boat, the palace’s culinary team excels at crafting moments that feel personal, elegant, and unforgettable.

EXPERIENCES SHAPED BY CULTURE, WELLNESS, AND ATMOSPHERE

Taj Lake Palace is not merely a place to stay; it is a place to experience. Every aspect of the property has been designed to immerse guests in Udaipur’s cultural, artistic, and natural heritage. The heritage walk offered by the palace is a journey through time, revealing architectural secrets, historic anecdotes, and

hidden artistic treasures that give insight into the palace’s past. It is an intimate way to engage with the building, its creators, and its legacy. The Jiva Spa Boat is a singular experience that has become synonymous with the palace’s identity. This custom-designed spa boat drifts silently across Lake Pichola, offering an unforgettable setting for holistic treatments rooted in Ayurveda and Indian wellness traditions. The combination of movement, water, and therapeutic care creates a state of relaxation that feels almost meditative.

Cultural evenings add yet another layer to the palace experience. Folk performances featuring classical Rajasthani dance, traditional instruments, and storytelling unfold in the courtyards, adding vibrancy to the nights. Sunset cruises on the lake complete the experience, offering sweeping views of Udaipur as the city transitions from day to night in a palette of golds and silvers.

A PALACE THAT CAPTURED THE WORLD’S IMAGINATION

Taj Lake Palace has long held a magnetic appeal for travellers, but its global recognition soared after its appearance in the James Bond film “Octopussy” in 1983. The palace served as the setting for some of the film’s most memorable sequences, introducing international audiences to Udaipur’s ethereal beauty. Since then, the palace has become one of the world’s most photographed hotels, appearing in travel magazines, films, and art series across continents. Despite this fame, it remains remarkably private and calm, preserving the intimate charm that makes it so beloved.

A DREAM SETTING FOR CELEBRATIONS

Though Taj Lake Palace hosts weddings and events selectively, its allure as a celebration venue remains unmatched. The palace lends itself naturally to romance, making it a favourite for pre-wedding photoshoots, intimate ceremonies, anniversary celebrations, and milestone events. Each courtyard, terrace, and balcony offers a backdrop that feels cinematic, and the staff curate every detail with a finesse that reflects the Taj brand’s signature hospitality. Guests often

combine the palace with nearby Taj properties for larger events, while reserving Taj Lake Palace for the most personal, emotionally significant moments.

PRESERVING HERITAGE WHILE EMBRACING MODERN LUXURY

What sets Taj Lake Palace apart is the balance it maintains between heritage preservation and contemporary comfort. Taj Hotels has invested immense care in maintaining the palace’s original architecture, restoring frescoes, supporting local artisans, and preserving the ecological integrity

of Lake Pichola. The property’s sustainability practices—ranging from wastewater management to heritage-sensitive renovations— ensure that the palace continues to thrive as both a historic landmark and a modern luxury retreat.

WHY TAJ LAKE PALACE REMAINS AN ICON OF WORLD TRAVEL

There are few hotels in the world that manage to leave such a profound emotional imprint on their guests. Taj Lake Palace is one of them. Its appeal lies not in extravagance, but in atmosphere. It lies in the quiet of early mornings when the lake is still.

It lies in the glow of lantern light reflecting off marble at dusk. It lies in the sound of water lapping against the palace walls and the warmth with which the staff greet every guest. The palace is meticulous in its luxury yet unpretentious in its charm, making it deeply personal. It is a place where time seems to stretch, where beauty reveals itself slowly, and where every moment feels deserving of remembrance.

A TIMELESS ESCAPE

In the end, Taj Lake Palace is more than a destination. It is a dreamscape — a place that stays with you long after you have departed. Even as your boat drifts away from the island, and the marble silhouette begins to fade into the horizon, you carry with you the lingering sensation of a world where elegance, tranquillity, and

heritage converge seamlessly. This floating palace in the City of Lakes remains one of India’s most extraordinary treasures, a testament to the power of architecture, culture, and hospitality to create experiences that feel truly timeless.

Edible Flowers That delightfully Elevate Pastries & Desserts

Flowers have long had a place in the kitchen, not just the garden. This guide explores 15 varieties of edible flowers used to enhance pastries and desserts.

The use of edible flowers in desserts is not new, but their presence on modern tables has taken on a fresh visibility. Bakers, pastry chefs and home cooks have long used them to add colour, aroma and subtle flavour. In parts of Europe, crystallised violets and rose petals have decorated cakes since the 19th century, while Middle Eastern sweets often carry the fragrance of orange blossom and rosewater. Today, edible flowers are as likely to appear on a plated fine dining dessert as they are on a home-baked tart, valued both for their visual effect and their contribution to taste. Their application varies by cuisine, tradition and creativity, and they continue to be a versatile tool in contemporary baking.

Roses

Roses remain one of the most recognisable edible flowers, often used to infuse creams, syrups and jellies. The petals can be candied to decorate petits fours or layered on cakes. They are also steeped in sugar solutions or distilled into rosewater, a common ingredient in pastries from baklava to Turkish delight.

Violets

Violets, particularly the Parma variety, have a history in European confectionery. Candied violets have adorned cakes, biscuits and chocolates for centuries. Their delicate flavour also lends itself to syrups that can be brushed onto sponge or mixed into icings.

While the delicate flavour of violets can be infused into pastry and desserts, the petals themselves make striking adornments as well.

Lavender

Lavender is another edible flower with a strong association with sweet treats. Used sparingly, it imparts a herbal, floral note to custards, panna cotta and Ice Creams. Lavender sugar, made by storing dried blossoms with granulated sugar, is often used in biscuits or scones.

Lavender brings a herbal, floral note to biscuits, scones and custards, best used sparingly for balance in sweet dishes.

Hibiscus

Hibiscus petals, deep red in colour, bring both tartness and vibrancy. They are steeped in syrups for glazes, folded into compotes or dried and ground to add flavour to shortbread. In some regions, hibiscus tea reductions are used to accent mousses and sorbets.

Hibiscus tea reductions can be used as an accent for various sweets, particularly cold desserts.

Marigolds

Marigolds, sometimes called Calendula in culinary contexts, are valued for their saffronlike colouring. The petals are scattered over cakes or stirred into custards. Their slight bitterness balances the sweetness of meringues and other confections.

FOODS THAT COULD CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR COLLAGEN NEEDS

‘Simple ways to include collagen-rich and collagen-supporting foods in a balanced, practical daily diet’

Collagen forms the framework that keeps skin supple and connective tissue resilient. It’s the most abundant protein in the human body, yet its production gradually declines with age. Diet cannot fully replace what the body loses, but it can provide the building blocks that keep the process going. Foods that naturally

contain collagen—mainly from animal sources—can supplement those reserves, while ingredients rich in vitamin C, zinc, copper and specific amino acids help the body produce it more efficiently. Paying attention to both types can make a small but measurable difference in how well collagen is maintained over time.

BONE BROTH AND CONNECTIVE-TISSUE CUTS

Slow-simmered broths remain one of the most direct dietary sources of collagen. When bones, skin and cartilage cook over several hours, their collagen and gelatine dissolve into the liquid, creating a protein-rich base. Beef, chicken and fish bones all work, though chicken feet and marrow bones contain the highest amounts. A cup of broth adds savoury depth to soups, grains and sauces, and can be sipped on its own as a light meal. If you prefer solid cuts, skin-on chicken thighs, oxtail or pork shank deliver similar benefits. However, a 2018 study in the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism notes that bone broth alone is not enough to support collagen synthesis in the body. A balanced diet is still best.

FISH SKIN AND SHELLFISH

Fish skin is one of the richest natural sources of type I collagen, the same form found in human skin. A 2023 study published in Aquaculture Reports identifies it as a highly concentrated collagen material, especially in species like cod, salmon and tilapia. According to the Environmental Literacy Council, eating the skin along with the flesh provides collagen as well as omega-3 fats that support overall skin health. Small oily fish eaten whole, such as sardines or anchovies, also supply calcium and trace minerals from their bones. Shellfish like prawns and crabs add zinc, a mineral essential for collagen synthesis.

FRUITS AND VEGETABLES THAT SUPPORT COLLAGEN PRODUCTION

Plant foods do not contain collagen, but they supply the nutrients required to build and stabilise it. Studies show that vitamin C is essential for assembling collagen molecules, while zinc, copper and the amino acids glycine and proline play supporting roles. Citrus fruits, peppers, berries and kiwifruit provide reliable sources of vitamin

C. Leafy greens such as spinach and kale contain trace minerals needed for collagen cross-linking. Nuts and seeds add additional zinc and copper. A balanced approach— regular servings of vegetables and fruit throughout the day—offers more benefit than any single ingredient on its own.

POULTRY SKIN AND CARTILAGE-RICH CUTS

Poultry offers collagen primarily through its skin and the connective tissue around joints. The collagen network in chicken wings, drumsticks and thighs becomes gelatinous when slow-cooked, enriching soups and braises. Dishes such as “collagen chicken”, simmered until the broth sets lightly when cooled, illustrate how this protein transforms into a silky texture. Because poultry skin contains saturated fat, balance it with lighter accompaniments— steamed greens, lentils or a citrus salad—to maintain nutritional proportion. Focus on variety rather than relying on a single source.

EGGS, DAIRY AND LEGUMES

Egg whites contain proline, one of the amino acids central to collagen formation. Dairy products supply complete proteins that provide other necessary building blocks, while legumes contribute both protein and minerals like iron and zinc. Including these foods as part of a varied diet helps sustain the body’s own collagen synthesis rather than supplying collagen directly. A softboiled egg at breakfast, yoghurt with fruit in the afternoon and a lentil stew at dinner together create a steady flow of these nutrients.

Collagen-rich foods can complement, but not replace, the body’s natural production. Focusing on whole foods—some that contain collagen, others that support its creation—offers a practical approach without relying on single-ingredient solutions. In cooking terms, it simply means using the whole animal more often, keeping your plate colourful and varied and letting nourishment do the work.

IASST PIONEERS OPTICAL SENSING PLATFORM FOR EARLY CHOLESTEROL DETECTION

FNH - HEALTH &

In a ground-breaking advancement for preventive healthcare, researchers at the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST) in Guwahati, India, have developed an innovative optical sensing platform designed for early cholesterol detection. This eco-friendly, highly sensitive device offers a promising solution for noninvasive monitoring of cholesterol levels, potentially revolutionizing how we diagnose and manage conditions linked to cholesterol imbalances, such as cardiovascular diseases, atherosclerosis, and certain cancers.

A Leap in Cholesterol Detection Technology

Cholesterol, a crucial lipid produced by the liver, plays an essential role in the body, contributing to the production of vitamin D, bile acids, and steroid hormones. However, imbalances—particularly elevated levels of lowdensity lipoprotein (LDL or "bad" cholesterol)— can lead to severe health issues, including hypertension, myocardial infarction, venous thrombosis, and even cancer. Early detection of abnormal cholesterol levels is critical for timely intervention and effective disease management. The IASST research team, led by retired professor Neelotpal Sen Sarma, Associate Professor Dr.

Asis Bala, and DST INSPIRE Senior Research Fellow Nasrin Sultana, has developed a point-of-care (POC) device that can detect cholesterol at trace levels, even below the typical reference range. The platform utilizes silk fibre functionalized with phosphorene quantum dots, integrated into a cellulose nitrate membrane, to achieve exceptional sensitivity and selectivity. This allows the sensor to accurately identify cholesterol in complex real-world samples, including human blood serum, rat blood serum, and milk, making it a versatile tool for clinical diagnostics.

Eco-Friendly and Sustainable

Design

One of the standout features of this platform is its eco-friendly design. Unlike traditional electronic sensors that contribute to electronic waste, the IASST device generates no such waste, aligning with global efforts to create sustainable healthcare solutions. The use of silk fibre and cellulose nitrate not only enhances the sensor’s biocompatibility but also ensures that the device is environmentally responsible, a critical consideration in modern medical technology development.

Implications for Healthcare

The ability to detect cholesterol at low concentrations is a game-changer for early disease detection. Abnormal cholesterol levels are often a precursor to serious conditions, and routine monitoring can help identify atrisk individuals before symptoms manifest. By offering a non-invasive, highly sensitive method for cholesterol detection, the IASST platform could empower healthcare providers to implement personalized treatment plans, improving patient outcomes and reducing the burden on healthcare systems.

The device’s potential applications extend beyond clinical diagnostics. Its ability to detect cholesterol in milk, for instance, suggests possible uses in food safety and quality control, ensuring that dairy products meet health standards. Additionally, the platform’s adaptability to various sample types highlights its versatility, making it a valuable tool for both medical and industrial purposes.

The Road Ahead

While the optical sensing platform is currently a laboratory prototype, its successful integration into a POC device marks a significant milestone. The research, published in the prestigious Nanoscale journal by the Royal Society of Chemistry, has garnered attention for its innovative approach and potential impact. However, the journey to widespread adoption is not without challenges. The device must undergo rigorous human trials to validate its efficacy and safety in real-world settings. Scalability and affordability will also be critical factors in ensuring that the technology reaches underserved populations, particularly in low-resource regions where access to advanced diagnostics is limited.

The IASST team is optimistic about the platform’s future. By refining the technology and addressing these challenges, they aim to create a cost-effective, userfriendly device that can be seamlessly integrated into routine healthcare practices. If successful, this innovation could set a new standard for cholesterol monitoring, offering a proactive approach to managing one of the leading risk factors for chronic diseases.

A Vision for Preventive Healthcare

The development of this optical sensing platform underscores the power of interdisciplinary research in addressing pressing global health challenges. By combining materials science, nanotechnology, and biomedical engineering, the IASST team has created a tool that not only advances scientific knowledge but also has the potential to save lives. As the world grapples with rising rates of cardiovascular diseases and other cholesterol-related conditions, innovations like this offer hope for a healthier, more resilient future. In the words of the research team, this platform is not just a technological

achievement but a step toward democratizing healthcare. By enabling early detection and personalized monitoring, the IASST optical sensing platform could empower individuals to take charge of their health, paving the way for a new era of preventive medicine. For more information on this ground-breaking research, the full study is available in the Nanoscale journal, published by the Royal Society of Chemistry. As the IASST team continues to refine and scale this technology, the global healthcare community eagerly awaits its transformative impact.

The device continuously monitors air quality parameters including fine particulate matter (PM 1, PM 2.5, PM 10), volatile organic compounds, and carbon dioxide levels, while simultaneously tracking temperature, humidity, noise, and sophisticated light spectrum analysis. This holistic approach addresses a critical gap in personal health data - the environmental context that

shapes our physiological responses. “We’re enabling individuals to make informed decisions about their living spaces, leading to improved wellbeing and recovery,” said Mohit Kumar, Ultrahuman’s Founder and CEO. The company’s vision extends beyond simple environmental monitoring to create actionable insights that directly correlate with health outcomes.

WHEN YOUR HOME BECOMES YOUR HEALTH COACH

Ultrahuman’s breakthrough lies in UltraSync technology, which integrates home environmental data with physiological metrics from their Ring AIR wearable. This convergence enables unprecedented correlations, linking nighttime noise spikes directly to sleep

disruptions or correlating air quality fluctuations with recovery patterns and heart rate variability. The system generates a unified “Room Score” that aggregates multiple environmental factors into a single, actionable wellness metric, simplifying complex environmental data into meaningful insights for users. The device’s sophisticated light monitoring capabilities distinguish it

from conventional air quality monitors. By tracking blue, red, green, and infrared light exposure alongside UVA, UVB, and UVC levels, Ultrahuman Home enables precise circadian rhythm optimization helping users align their lighting environment with natural biological cycles while mitigating melatonin suppression from excessive blue light exposure.

TRAVEL & LIVING

THAILAND’S ELITE GOLFCLUBS

FNH - TRAVEL & LIVING

For the global elite, the pursuit of golf is seamlessly woven into the itinerary of luxury travel. A trip to Thailand offers not just a holiday, but a ‘green passport’ to an ultra-exclusive world—a curated ecosystem of status and sport. These are not merely well-maintained golf courses; they are destinations in themselves, meticulously engineered to provide an experience found nowhere else in Asia. We invite you to explore the dual pillars of Thai prestige that define high-status golf travel: the strategic corporate hub of Amata Spring Country Club near Bangkok, and the historical, tropical sanctuary of Blue Canyon Golf Resort in Phuket.

ACCESS AND ALTITUDE: DEFINING THE BILLIONAIRE’S GREEN:

A true, pure private club operates in an entirely different orbit from a high-end resort course. For the global executive, membership here isn’t a mere recreational fee; it’s a utility, an investment in status and a vital part of the professional infrastructure. Amata Spring Country Club is perfectly positioned near the corporate heart of the nation (60 kilometres south of Bangkok), offering their guests and members the ‘very best in service and quality’ within metropolitan proximity. It’s a compelling reason for high-status travellers to visit and extend their stay.

THE ENGINEERING OF ELITE STATUS: FROM WASTELAND TO WORLD STAGE:

The sheer ambition and capital required to manufacture a worldclass golf course from scratch defines its perpetual prestige. Amata Spring Country Club (ASCC) founder Andrew Yau’s vision was twofold: to establish the first genuine worldclass private club and build a venue capable of hosting an international professional tournament. To meet this exacting standard on a site described

by designer Lee Schmidt (who worked on iconic projects like PGA WEST) as ‘flat as a pancake with a damn big hole in the middle,’ ASCC undertook a colossal engineering intervention. Their creation myth involves dramatically draining a 28-metre-deep wastewater reservoir by ten metres to manufacture the necessary slope and elevation, transforming an unusable site into one of Asia’s best golf courses and a perpetual quality guarantee for its members.

THE GREEN PASSPORT: A REGIONAL NETWORK OF PRIVILEGE:

For the global executive planning multi-country travel, the most powerful draw is Amata Spring Country Club’s affiliate membership. Membership here acts as a genuine geo-economic ‘passport’, unlocking reciprocal access to a curated selection of other highly selective clubs across Asia. This network transforms a trip to Thailand into a strategic regional asset, facilitating seamless, highstatus networking across major Asian economic hubs. The exclusive list includes Taiheiyo Japan, Sheshan International Golf Club China, and Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club Hong Kong. When you visit ASCC, you are investing in access to the region’s entire elite golf circuit.

WHERE LEGENDS WALKED: A SANCTUARY FOR PRESIDENTS AND CHAMPIONS:

Contrast this corporate utility with the historical glamour of Blue Canyon Golf Resort in Phuket. Strategically located near Phuket International Airport, Blue Canyon offers an exclusive island retreat with iconic scenery. The Canyon Course is a sanctuary for world leaders, having hosted former U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush Senior. This location is also essential viewing for the travelling golf enthusiast, offering a palpable sense of history. The fairways have been graced by legends such as Greg Norman, Ernie Els, and Nick Faldo.

THE DEFINING MOMENT: TIGER’S MIRACLE RALLY AT CANYON COURSE:

The most compelling anecdote in Thai golf history occurred here. In 1998, Tiger Woods staged a dramatic victory at Blue Canyon Golf Resort’s Johnnie Walker Classic, rallying from an eightstroke deficit to seize the win. This defining moment cemented the course’s global reputation. This deep sporting heritage makes a pilgrimage to this specific course an essential experience for the international golf aficionado. It was the first golf course to host the Classic three times in the tournament’s history.

ARCHITECTURAL THEATRE: VVIP VIEWS AND FLOATING GREENS:

The clubhouse design is intrinsically linked to the luxury travel experience. At Amata Spring Country Club, the Mediterranean-style clubhouse and its private dining rooms such as the Member’s Corner and the Glass Room are strategically positioned

to overlook the action. This allows socializing members to witness the drama unfold on the legendary floating 17th island green. The high-end architectural aesthetics are designed to merge sporting prowess with social spectacle. In contrast, Blue Canyon Golf Resort and its designer Yoshikazu Kato embraced

the natural drama, working around the existing canyons and woodlands of the abandoned tin mine to offer a classic challenge rooted in Phuket’s unique topography. Other elite destinations like Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin and Thai Country Club near Bangkok also offer compelling reasons to travel,

whether for residential luxury or championship pedigree.

THE PRIVATE CLUB ECOSYSTEM: BESPOKE RESIDENCY AND LUXURY AMENITIES:

For the traveller seeking to extend their stay, the clubs offer a comprehensive, luxury lifestyle ecosystem. Amata Spring Country Club provides practice facilities regarded as the finest in the Kingdom, complemented by a clubhouse with international class restaurants and a spa offering traditional Thai and Sports massages. Crucially, ASCC also offers integrated luxury residency: gated ‘Palm Springs style’ Golf Villas. Residents gain exclusive access to their own club house, pool, lounge, and gym. This provision of integrated housing and bespoke facilities minimizes the need for high-net-worth travellers to venture off-site, reinforcing convenience and status within a curated environment—the perfect setup for an extended luxury golf escape to Thailand.

MOST POPULAR GOLF CLUBS OF THAILAND

Top golf clubs in Thailand include Red Mountain Golf Club (Phuket), Nikanti Golf Club (Bangkok), Siam Country Club Plantation (Pattaya), Black Mountain Golf Club (Hua Hin), and Alpine Golf & Sports Club (Bangkok), which are frequently cited for their spectacular views, unique designs, or championship status. Other highly-rated options are Thai Country Club, Blue Canyon Country Club, and Amata Spring Country Club.

RED MOUNTAIN GOLF GLUB: (PHUKET)

Often called one of the most spectacular courses, it is built in a former tin mine and features dramatic elevation changes and cliffs. Red Mountain Golf Club is owned and managed by MBK Public Co. Ltd. The company owns and operates two courses in Phuket – Red Mountain and its immediate neighbour, Loch Palm Golf Club,

in addition to two courses in the Pathum Thani Province near Bangkok. Red Mountain is more than just a great golf. A stunning garden of tropical trees, flowers and shrubs exhibit the most beautiful and vibrant flora of the area attracting Phuket’s colourful species of butterflies and birds. Ornithological trails introduce bird watchers to some

of the region’s most spectacular and distinctive birds. Man’s legacy at the Tin Mine was a unique landscape for the magic of nature’s renewal and rejuvenation and a magnificent raw canvas for our course. Rare and beautiful forms of plants and wildlife; exotic ferns and wild orchids, Indian rhododendrons and nepenthes have flourished in the old mine landscape. Golfers will enjoy one of Phuket’s stunning virgin forests where ancient trees reach for the clouds and weird and wonderful wildlife

create a cacophony of tropical jungle sounds. Known locally as the most challenging course in Phuket and often voted amongst Thailand’s finest, the course is sculpted into the rugged rocky terrain left over from the old tin mine days and is both a scenic delight and a truly unique challenge.

About the Course

Sculpted into the rugged rock terrain, Red Mountain Golf Course is a scenic delight and a true challenge. The par 72 is a highly strategic course, with numerous risk and reward opportunities creating a stimulating test for golfers of all levels.

Coursing through 6,781yards, the course designed by Jon Morrow and Al Tikkanen cleverly exploits the dramatic landforms and elevation changes remnant of the tin mine. The course is a challenge for even the best golfers from the Championship tees whilst providing a more leisurely challenge from the white tees at 5,900

yards. Red Mountain has been built to the highest international standards and is immaculately maintained with a strong dedication to environmental protection. The design allows the terrain to speak for itself. Former mining pits have been flooded to create challenging water hazards and mountain sides were scraped away to

reveal the native red clay on multiple holes. All this in stark contrast to the manicured fairways, white sand, and the famous Phuket blue sky weather. The front 9 has some memorable holes, none more so than the short Par 3 Hole No 3 where land scarring from the tin mining has been carefully protected creating a large wasteland

of eroded ridges and gullies formed from years of storm water run-off over tin mine tailings. The 8th hole tee shot is played from an elevated tee back down toward a large lake that requires careful club selection and some nerve. The 9th tee box provides a great opportunity to witness the tin mine scarring up

close as you head back down a short Par 4 with the clubhouse framed in the distance. The second nine features twisting fairways framed by bright red rock cliffs, splashes of thick jungle and spectacular viewpoints. After a climb of over 100 metres from the 15th green, the 16th hole is the highest point of any golf course in Phuket and golfers should take the time to enjoy the view over Phuket City across to the famous Big Buddha from the spectacular viewpoint behind the green. The signature Par 3 Hole 17th takes you from a precipitous ledge, down over 40 meters through towering trees to a lush green valley carved out of the bright red rock below. Red Mountain is a strategic players course, with numerous risk and reward opportunities creating a stimulating test of golf cleverly exploiting the dramatic landforms and elevation changes featuring twisting fairways framed by bright red rock cliffs, splashes of thick jungle and spectacular viewpoints.

ALPINE GOLF & SPORTS CLUB, BANGKOK

A prestigious course with tight fairways and slick greens, located in a serene, tropical setting. Alpine Golf Club is Thailand’s one of finest golf courses with over 3 years of proven experience of offering its members a new dimension of golf challenge beyond expectation. The course was designed by one of the world’s most

renowned architects Mr. Ron M. Garl. In view of his extensive experience of creating a hilly layout from flat terrains in Florida, Mr. Ron M. Garl was chosen to build this unique golf course in Northern Bangkok where golf challenges will be offered to all golfers.

Alpine Golf Club is in fact the first project in Asia ever carried out by this well-known architect. His concept was to build a hilly golf course amidst fresh air, beautiful lakes and dazzling tree-lined scenery. This championship layout measures 7,100 yards in length with par 72. Good shots will be rewarded while badly placed shots held subject to costly penalties. Golfers privileged to play on Alpine golf course will have an unforgettable experience of having their golf skills challenged.

The hilly course is bordered by tall trees, flourishing shrubbery and high-grade sand bunkers, all features of what is an immaculately kept course which prides itself on the highest maintenance levels, resulting in perfect playing conditions. The rolling fairways are the target from the tee but it’s often not that simple with several holes featuring tricky water hazards and greens which tend to slope from back to front, ensuring shot selection in your approach will be key to successful putting.

The course starts as it means to go on with hazards everywhere you look, a strong tee shot down the middle will fill you with confidence ahead of a tricky round. The first par-3 is at the 3rd and is one of the course’s most majestic holes, playing over a lake

with views across the surrounding landscape; the pin position is tucked behind water on the right side of the green posing the questionsafe to the left or an aggressive shot towards the flag? At 14, you’ll be faced with a solid chance at a birdie where you tee off from an elevated

position down towards a tight fairway but the green is definitely reachable in three. Your round will end with a great par-4 where water cuts in front of the greenmake sure you know your distances by this point or you could end by scoring high.

Off the course the sports club boasts impressive golfing facilities. A well serviced pro shop is there for any essential pre-round purchases while a refreshment kiosk is open all day for a mid-round snack or drink. In the clubhouse are clean, modern locker rooms as well as luxury amenities such as a jacuzzi and sauna to relax after a long day on the course. For a more substantial meal, the Chalet Restaurant is very popular amongst guests and can seat up to 100 diners.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Located about 50 kilometres from central Bangkok, Alpine Golf Club is an exclusive, members-only course that occasionally welcomes visitors through prior arrangements or golf tour packages. The course spans over 7,100 yards and offers worldclass facilities, including a driving range, a pro shop, and luxurious locker rooms.

The clubhouse boasts excellent dining options, serving both Thai and international cuisine, perfect for a post-game meal. With its highquality service and stunning natural environment, Alpine Golf Club is a top choice for golfers visiting Bangkok. Advanced booking is essential for non-members who wish to play at Alpine Golf Club, as it’s highly exclusive. The dress code is strictly enforced—collared shirts, golf shoes, and proper attire are required. Golf clubs, carts, and caddies are available for rent, but bringing your own gear is recommended if you prefer. The course can be challenging, with water hazards and bunkers strategically placed, so be prepared for a competitive game.

get there is by car, either through a private taxi, ride-hailing service, or a pre-arranged transfer. Many golf tour operators also offer packages that include transportation. If you’re staying at a hotel in Bangkok, the concierge can assist in arranging a car service to the course.

SIAM COUNTRY CLUB PATTAYA PLANTATION

Dr. Thaworn Phornprapha founded Siam Motors Co., Ltd. on 4 September 1952 at 891/1, Rama I Road, Pathumwan, Bangkok, starting a trade of new and used vehicles. Later, the company was commissioned Nissan’s first overseas dealers. In 1962, Nissan’s first manufacturing plant in Thailand was established at Soi Srichan, Sukhumvit 67 under the name “Siam Motors and Nissan Co., Ltd.” with totally 120 employees and an initial production capacity of only four cars a day.

The company strongly flourished along with the consistent development of people and technology to meet international standard. With the company’s rapid growth, the factory was moved to a new site at Siam Motors Industrial Center on Bang Na–Trat (Kilometer 21) served as Nissan pick-up manufacturing plant for exportation. So far, Siam Motors Group has consistently developed a myriad of world-class quality products to serve Thai customers in different aspects of daily life, well-known as leading

SIAM MOTORS COMPANIES –HOSPITALITY & LIFESTYLE DIVISION:

Siam Country Club (Plantation Course) A spectacular world-class course rated as one of the best in Thailand

Named for the historic pineapple, sugar cane and tapioca plantations that used to occupy the site, the Plantation Course at Siam Country Club is a 27-hole layout set in rolling terrain of rugged ravines and lakes, carpeted tree-lined fairways dotted with high-lipped bunkers, and some significant elevation changes. At nearly 7,500 yards from the back tees, it’s as tough as any course in Thailand, but the experience on offer

is so intoxicating that you won’t care about your scorecard. Featuring a series of long forced carries, hopeful blind shots, and severely undulating putting surfaces, this is a course to challenge the best in the world. Many of the greens are elevated with steep run-off areas, so precision is required on your approaches, no mean feat with the winds that often blow in off the Gulf of Thailand. Asia’s first triple green is a key feature of two of the nines. The Tapioca Course’s 7th and the Pineapple Course’s 4th and 9th holes all play to a single massive green measuring over 20,000 square feet, its severely undulating surface divided into three distinct sections by large swales. The third nine, the Sugar Cane Course, arguably the best of the lot, features the spectacular signature 5th. A long uphill par-5 featuring nearly 30 bunkers, it offers

a classic risk/reward decision thanks to its split fairway. The right-hand side is easier to reach, but you’ll leave yourself with a long carry into the green so be brave and play for the left fairway. The golf course is in immaculate condition, the manicured fairways bordered by thick rough and then even thicker gorse, while greens are super quick, with none of the wear and tear often found on other courses. It’s little wonder it’s three times been voted Best Maintained Course in Asia Pacific at the World Golf Awards.

Away from the course, the facilities are also world class, with extensive practice facilities and a magnificent contemporary clubhouse featuring a large pro shop and an excellent restaurant and lounge area overlooking both the triple green and Pattaya City. A round at the Plantation Course at Siam Country Club will live long in the memory, and should form part of any Pattaya golf holiday.
