TAMIL NADU: THE GLOBAL

VANGUARD OF EV & CLEAN-ENERGY MANUFACTURING

Tamil Nadu has emerged as India’s leading destination for international investments in clean energy and its allied manufacturing sectors. By February 2026, the state has solidified its position as a "Green Powerhouse," contributing nearly 46% of India's total renewable energy manufacturing. This success is driven by a combination of natural geographic advantages, proactive policy frameworks, and a strategic vision. As of February 2026, Tamil Nadu has firmly established itself as a premier manufacturing hub for the global energy transition. By leveraging its industrial legacy and proactive policy framework, the state has become a magnet for international investments in Electric Vehicles (EVs), Green Hydrogen, and Renewable Energy components, driving its mission to reach a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

‘Incredible Tamil Nadu’ is Considered the "EV Capital of India": As of February 2026, Tamil Nadu has solidified its reputation as the "EV Capital of India" and a global hub for electric mobility. This transformation is not accidental but the result of a decades-long industrial foundation in the automotive sector, now pivoted toward a low-carbon future. The state currently produces roughly 70% of all electric two-wheelers and 40% of electric fourwheelers manufactured in India.

A Global Manufacturing Powerhouse: Tamil Nadu’s leadership is anchored by a massive manufacturing ecosystem that spans the entire EV value chain, from assembly to critical components. Two-Wheeler Supremacy: The state is the national leader in electric two-wheeler production. Ola Electric operates the world’s largest electric scooter plant in Krishnagiri, with a current capacity of 2 million units, aiming for 10 million units by 2030. Other major players like TVS Motor and Ather Energy have massive operations in the Hosur-Krishnagiri belt. Four-Wheeler Expansion: Chennai, long known as the "Detroit of Asia," is now the "EV Hub of Asia". Hyundai is investing $2.4 billion to establish an EV assembly plant with an annual capacity of 75,000 cars. Tata Motors-JLR recently laid the foundation for a ₹9,000 crore plant in Panapakkam, which will produce luxury EVs for global markets. International Investments: In August 2025, Vietnamese EV giant VinFast inaugurated its first Indian plant in Thoothukudi. The company has committed a cumulative $2 billion to expand this facility into an integrated hub for electric cars, buses, and scooters.

Proactive Policy & Tax-Incentives: The state’s success is heavily driven by the Tamil Nadu Electric Vehicle Policy 2023, which provides a stable and lucrative environment for both manufacturers and consumers. Extended Tax Waivers: In December 2025, the government extended the 100% road tax exemption for all battery-operated vehicles (transport and non-transport) until December 31, 2027. This move significantly lowers the upfront cost of EVs, which often carry a 10-15% tax burden in other states. Manufacturing Incentives: The policy offers a 15% capital subsidy on eligible investments made until the end of 2025 and a 100% electricity tax exemption for manufacturing units. Specialized EV Cities: The government has designated six cities—Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Salem, Tiruchirappalli, and Tirunelveli—as "EV Cities" to pilot the electrification of public transport and the deployment of charging infrastructure.

The "Detroit of Asia" Legacy & Workforce: Tamil Nadu’s existing industrial base provides a unique competitive advantage that other states find difficult to replicate. Supply Chain Integration: With over 1,500 auto and auto component factories, new EV entrants can source high-quality parts locally, reducing logistics costs and time-to-market. Skilled Talent Pool: The state possesses one of India’s most trained workforces in automotive engineering. Notably, Tamil Nadu employs 42% of all women working in Indian factories, many of whom are now specialized in precision EV assembly lines. Battery Ecosystem: Beyond vehicle assembly, the state is moving into cell manufacturing. Ola Electric is scaling its Gigafactory, while VinFast and Hinduja Group (through Ashok Leyland/Switch Mobility) are investing heavily in battery technology and local value addition.

Strategic Infrastructure & Future Growth: The state is not just a producer but a growing consumer and exporter of green mobility. Charging Infrastructure: The government is facilitating the installation of over 500 public charging stations and has introduced "Green Energy Open Access Rules" to allow businesses to source renewable power directly. Export Hub: Tamil Nadu’s ports in Chennai and Thoothukudi make it an ideal gateway for global markets. Citroën recently became the

Editor -in - ChiEf from the desk of

first multinational to export "Made in India" EVs (the Ë-C3) specifically produced in Tamil Nadu. Through this combination of market-leading production volume, investor-friendly policies, and a robust supply chain, Tamil Nadu has set a benchmark for the global energy transition, ensuring its place as the undisputed EV Capital of India.

Pioneering the Green Hydrogen Revolution:

The state is strategically developing a ₹42,000 crore Green Hydrogen Hub cantered at the V.O. Chidambaranar Port in Thoothukudi. International Partnerships: Global energy giants, including Malaysia's Petronasbacked Amplus Ganges Solar and Singapore's Sembcorp Industries, are backing this initiative. Project Milestones: A green hydrogen pilot plant was commissioned at VOC Port in September 2025, marking a critical step toward full-scale commercial operations targeted for 2028. Industrial Decarbonisation: This hub is designed to supply green hydrogen to hard-to-abate sectors like steel and chemicals, positioning Tamil Nadu as a key exporter in the international clean energy market.

Strategic Policies

and Allied Sectors:

The state’s emergence as a hub is fuelled by specialized policies that foster a complete "clean-tech" ecosystem: Circular Economy Investment Policy 2026: Launched in January 2026, this policy aims to make Tamil Nadu a global hub for circular manufacturing, focusing on recycling EV batteries, electronics, and plastics. Semiconductor & Electronics: Recognizing the synergy between clean energy and high-tech hardware, the state has attracted investments from companies like Tata Electronics and Dixon Technologies for electronics manufacturing. South Asian Renewable Energy Corridor: The state is positioning itself as a regional gateway to deliver roundthe-clock clean power to neighbouring stakeholders, including Sri Lanka.

In Short: Through a combination of robust port-led infrastructure, a skilled workforce—Tamil Nadu employs 42% of all women working in Indian factories—and stable, industry-friendly governance, the state has become indispensable to the global energy transition. As international corporations seek sustainable supply chains, Tamil Nadu’s "Green-Industrial-Revolution" provides a definitive blueprint for low-carbon economic growth.

Tifara Designer Boutique, Chennai

A CELEBRATION OF CURATED FASHION, CRAFT, AND CONTEMPORARY ELEGANCE

In a city where tradition and modernity coexist in elegant harmony, Tifara has emerged as a defining name in Chennai’s luxury fashion landscape. Located in the refined neighbourhood of Nungambakkam, Tifara is not merely a designer boutique but a thoughtfully curated fashion destination that speaks to women who appreciate individuality, craftsmanship, and timeless style. Since its establishment in 2012, Tifara has steadily built a reputation as one of Chennai’s most trusted multi-designer boutiques, offering an experience that goes far beyond shopping. It is a space where clothing is treated as art, where every garment carries a story, and where personal style is nurtured with care and expertise.

FASHION & TRENDS

The name Tifara is derived from the Hebrew word “Tiferet,” which signifies beauty, harmony, and balance. This meaning is deeply woven into the boutique’s philosophy. At Tifara, fashion is seen as a balance between aesthetics and emotion, between heritage and innovation. The boutique believes that true beauty lies in garments that feel authentic, elegant, and empowering. Rather than following fast-changing trends, Tifara focuses on timeless design and refined craftsmanship, ensuring that each piece remains relevant and cherished long after it is worn.

The Founder’s Vision and Journey

Tifara was founded by Deepthi Reddy Bashyam, whose passion for Indian textiles, couture, and design inspired her to create a space that would bring together the best of Indian fashion under one roof. Her vision was rooted in the idea of curation rather than mass retail. She envisioned a boutique where each designer, each garment, and each collection would be chosen with intention and care. Deepthi’s understanding of fabrics, silhouettes, and craftsmanship shaped Tifara into a boutique that values quality, originality, and personal connection above all else. Over the years, her vision has remained the guiding force behind the brand’s steady growth and enduring appeal.

What sets Tifara apart is its identity as a multi-designer boutique that prioritises curation over quantity. Instead of overwhelming customers with endless choices, Tifara offers a refined selection of designers whose aesthetics align with the boutique’s values. The collections showcase a diverse range of styles, from traditional Indian wear to contemporary and Indo-Western designs, while maintaining a cohesive sense of elegance. This approach allows customers to explore varied design sensibilities while trusting that every piece meets Tifara’s standards of quality and craftsmanship.

Deepthi Reddy Bashyam, OWNER OF TIFARA

Honouring Indian Craftsmanship and Textiles

At the heart of Tifara lies a deep respect for Indian craftsmanship. The boutique consistently showcases garments that highlight hand embroidery, traditional weaving techniques, and artisanal detailing. From intricate zari work and delicate thread embroidery to luxurious silks and finely woven fabrics, the collections celebrate the skill and dedication of Indian artisans. Tifara plays an important role in preserving these traditional techniques by presenting them in contemporary forms that appeal to modern sensibilities. This balance between heritage and innovation defines the boutique’s unique identity. Bridal wear is one of Tifara’s strongest pillars and a key reason for its widespread recognition.

The boutique is known for its exquisite bridal lehengas, sarees, anarkalis, and contemporary bridal ensembles that cater to a wide range of tastes. Each bridal outfit is designed to embody grace, grandeur, and individuality. Rather than following a single bridal aesthetic, Tifara offers options that range from traditional and opulent to modern and understated. The emphasis is always on creating ensembles that reflect the bride’s personality and vision for her special day. Beyond bridal couture, Tifara excels in curating trousseau collections that accompany a bride through every stage of her wedding journey. These collections include elegant sarees, refined kurta sets, Indo-Western outfits, and contemporary silhouettes that are suitable for pre-wedding functions, receptions, and post-wedding celebrations. The versatility of these garments ensures that they remain relevant long after the wedding festivities conclude. Tifara’s trousseau offerings are designed with practicality and elegance in mind, allowing women to build wardrobes that are both meaningful and enduring.

Tifara is also a destination for festive and occasion wear that balances richness with wearability. Whether it is a family celebration, a cultural festival, or a formal gathering, the boutique offers ensembles that are sophisticated without being excessive. The designs often feature refined embellishments, elegant colour palettes, and silhouettes that flatter a variety of body types. This thoughtful approach makes Tifara a trusted choice for women seeking outfits that feel special yet comfortable. Reflecting the evolving lifestyles of modern women, Tifara’s IndoWestern and contemporary collections blend global silhouettes with Indian craftsmanship. These designs often combine structured forms with traditional textiles, resulting in outfits that feel fresh, versatile, and distinctive. From contemporary gowns and fusion ensembles to chic co-ord sets and modern dresses, these collections cater to women who enjoy experimenting with style while staying rooted in cultural aesthetics. While Tifara is celebrated for occasion and bridal wear, it also offers thoughtfully designed everyday clothing.

These pieces focus on comfort, elegance, and versatility, making them suitable for work, casual outings, and social gatherings. Clean lines, breathable fabrics, and subtle detailing define this segment, reflecting the boutique’s belief that everyday fashion can be both practical and beautiful. This aspect of Tifara’s offerings reinforces its role as a complete fashion destination rather than a niche boutique. Stepping into Tifara is designed to feel like entering a calm and elegant retreat. The boutique’s interiors are warm, spacious, and thoughtfully arranged, allowing garments to be appreciated without distraction. Soft lighting and uncluttered displays create an atmosphere that encourages unhurried browsing and meaningful interaction. The store’s layout reflects its philosophy of balance and harmony, ensuring that customers feel relaxed and welcomed throughout their visit.

One of Tifara’s most defining strengths is its personalised approach to customer service. The boutique’s team takes the time to understand each client’s preferences, needs, and occasion requirements. Styling assistance is offered with sensitivity and expertise, focusing on enhancing the individual rather than imposing trends. This consultative approach fosters trust and long-term relationships, with many customers returning for multiple milestones in their lives. Customisation is an integral part of the Tifara experience, particularly for bridal and occasion wear. Clients are given the freedom to personalise designs, choose fabrics, adjust colours, and refine embellishments. This bespoke approach ensures that every outfit feels exclusive and perfectly suited to the wearer. Attention to fit and detailing further enhances the sense of luxury and care that defines Tifara’s service.

Over the years, Tifara has played a significant role in shaping Chennai’s contemporary fashion narrative. In a city deeply rooted in traditional aesthetics, the boutique has introduced a more global yet culturally grounded perspective on style. By blending heritage craftsmanship with modern design sensibilities, Tifara appeals to a wide demographic, from young professionals to brides and mature clientele. Its influence is seen in the growing appreciation for curated fashion and personalised service within the city. Tifara’s success has been built on consistency, quality, and genuine customer relationships. The boutique’s loyal clientele is a testament to its commitment to delivering exceptional products and experiences. Word-of-mouth recommendations, repeat customers, and long-standing relationships with families have contributed to its steady growth. This trust is earned through transparency, reliability, and an unwavering focus on excellence.

While the in-store experience remains central to Tifara’s identity, the boutique has also embraced digital platforms to connect with a broader audience. Through its online presence and social media engagement, Tifara shares collections, styling inspirations, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of its design philosophy. This digital outreach allows the brand to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving retail environment while maintaining its personal and curated essence. As fashion continues to evolve, Tifara remains committed to its founding principles of thoughtful curation, craftsmanship, and individuality. The boutique’s future vision includes expanding designer collaborations, exploring sustainable practices, and continuing to support artisanal communities. By adapting to changing

consumer preferences without compromising on its core values, Tifara is well positioned to remain a leading name in Chennai’s luxury fashion scene. Tifara stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful fashion. It is a space where tradition and modernity coexist, where craftsmanship is celebrated, and where personal style is honoured. Through its curated collections, personalised service, and commitment to quality, Tifara has established itself as more than just a boutique. It is a fashion destination with soul, offering women clothing that is not only beautiful but meaningful. In a world of fast fashion and fleeting trends, Tifara remains a symbol of enduring elegance and refined individuality.

JUICY CHEMISTRY

HOW A COIMBATORE KITCHEN

SPARKED

INDIA’S ORGANIC

BEAUTY REVOLUTION

In an Indian beauty industry long dominated by glossy promises and loosely regulated claims, Juicy Chemistry emerged as a quiet yet powerful disruptor. Founded in 2014 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, by husband-and-wife duo Pritesh and Megha Asher, the brand was never conceived as a conventional business idea. Instead, it grew out of frustration, curiosity, and a deeply personal need for honesty in skincare. What began as a small kitchen experiment has since evolved into one of India’s most respected certified organic personal care brands, with a growing global presence and an unwavering commitment to transparency, efficacy, and integrity.

VIBRANT LIFESTYLE

The Personal Problem That Sparked a Purpose

The story of Juicy Chemistry begins with Megha Asher’s long struggle with hyper-sensitive, acne-prone skin linked to PCOD. Like many consumers, she turned to products marketed as herbal, natural, or organic, hoping for relief. Instead, she encountered disappointment. Ingredient labels were vague, results were inconsistent, and the disconnect between marketing language and actual formulations became impossible to ignore.

A pivotal moment occurred during a routine shopping trip when Pritesh Asher, who was then managing his family’s petrochemical business, examined the ingredient lists more closely. He recognised parabens, mineral oils, synthetic stabilisers, and other compounds familiar from industrial applications. The realisation was unsettling: products marketed as “natural” were often anything but. This moment of clarity marked the beginning of a shared resolve—to create skincare that was genuinely clean, uncompromised, and transparent.

From a 10x10 Kitchen to an Uncompromising Vision

Armed with research, curiosity, and just ₹5,000 in seed capital, the Ashers began formulating products in their 10x10 kitchen in Coimbatore. There was no formal business plan, no external funding, and no roadmap—only a guiding philosophy that would later define the brand: if something is good enough to eat, it should be good enough to apply on the skin. The name Juicy Chemistry emerged naturally during this early phase, inspired by the vitality of fresh botanicals and the tactile joy of working with raw, living ingredients. Their first products—handmade soaps and body butters—were sold through Sunday markets and a Facebook page. These early interactions with customers became invaluable, shaping formulations and building a community of conscious consumers who valued honesty over hype.

The History of Building Without Shortcuts

As Juicy Chemistry gained traction, the founders made a series of deliberate decisions that would shape its longterm identity. One of the most defining choices was to focus on water-free formulations at a time when waterbased products dominated the market. By eliminating water, the brand removed the need for synthetic preservatives while increasing the concentration and potency of active ingredients. This approach aligned with their belief in simplified skincare—products that nourish rather than overwhelm the skin.

Traditional extraction methods such as cold pressing, steam distillation, and natural filtration were prioritised to preserve the bioactivity of botanicals. Products were handcrafted in small batches to ensure freshness and efficacy. Transparency became non-negotiable, with every ingredient and its source disclosed openly on the packaging. Between 2016 and 2019, Juicy Chemistry scaled steadily rather than rapidly. The brand expanded its portfolio, strengthened its direct-to-consumer presence, and invested in infrastructure without compromising its founding values. Growth was intentional, guided by trust rather than trends.

Certification as a Commitment, Not a Marketing Tool

One of the most defining milestones in Juicy Chemistry’s journey was its decision to pursue ECOCERT certification under COSMOS standards. Instead of relying on self-declared clean beauty claims, the brand chose to subject itself to one of the most rigorous organic certification processes in the world. Achieving full-range ECOCERT certification made Juicy Chemistry the first Indian brand to meet this global benchmark. This achievement was not just a badge—it was a statement. At a time when greenwashing was rampant, Juicy Chemistry positioned itself firmly on the side of accountability and science-backed credibility. The certification validated years of careful sourcing, formulation discipline, and operational integrity, reinforcing consumer trust both in India and internationally.

Scaling a Global Brand Without Compromise

As demand increased, Juicy Chemistry transitioned from a niche offering into a robust direct-to-consumer brand with a growing national and international footprint. In 2021, the company raised $6.3 million in Series A funding led by Belgium-based investment firm Verlinvest. The infusion of capital enabled investments in research, manufacturing capabilities, and global expansion while preserving founder control over product philosophy.

In 2022, the brand expanded into colour cosmetics with the launch of Color Chemistry, India’s first certified organic makeup line. This marked a significant evolution, proving that certified organic principles could extend beyond skincare into performance-driven cosmetics without dilution. By 2026, Juicy Chemistry’s portfolio had grown to over 100 products spanning skincare, haircare, body care, baby care, and aromatherapy. The brand exports to more than 20 countries across North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, establishing a strong global presence while remaining rooted in its Indian origins.

A Brand Grounded in Tamil Nadu, Recognised Worldwide

Despite its international reach, Tamil Nadu remains central to Juicy Chemistry’s identity. Coimbatore symbolises the brand’s grounded beginnings and manufacturing ethos, while flagship stores in Chennai and Kochi reflect its expanding physical presence. Though primarily digital-first, the brand’s offline expansion has been measured and intentional, mirroring the discipline with which it was built.

Sustainability is embedded in the brand’s operational DNA. Juicy Chemistry uses recyclable glass packaging wherever possible, avoids synthetic fragrances, dyes, plastic microbeads, and adheres strictly to cruelty-free practices. Most formulations are vegan, and manufacturing processes are designed to minimise environmental impact. These choices reflect a belief that personal care should nurture both individual well-being and the planet.

The Company Behind the Philosophy

Juicy Chemistry operates as an Indian organic personal care company at the intersection of science, sustainability, and transparency. Founded and headquartered in Tamil Nadu, the company follows a predominantly direct-to-consumer model while expanding selectively into physical retail. Its growth

strategy prioritises long-term trust over short-term scale, ensuring that every product meets stringent global organic standards. Even as the company scales, it retains tight control over formulation, sourcing, and production. This vertical integration allows Juicy Chemistry to maintain consistency, quality, and accountability—rare advantages in a rapidly commercialising beauty market.

The Founders: Where Science Meets

Storytelling

At the heart of Juicy Chemistry’s success is the complementary partnership between its founders. High school classmates who married in 2009, Pritesh and Megha Asher brought together two seemingly different worlds— industrial chemistry and human storytelling—to build a brand that resonates both emotionally and intellectually. Pritesh Asher, Co-Founder and CEO, brings deep technical expertise rooted in formulation science, manufacturing, and operations. His background in petrochemicals and industrial lubricants gave him a rare understanding of how ingredients function beyond marketing narratives. At Juicy Chemistry, he oversees product development, production, supply chain operations, and quality control, ensuring that every formulation stands up to global certification standards.

Megha Asher, Co-Founder and COO, brings a multidisciplinary perspective shaped by her experience as a criminologist, journalist with The Times of India, and fashion designer. Her personal skin-health journey became the emotional catalyst for the brand, while her investigative mindset and communication skills helped shape Juicy Chemistry’s transparent, consumer-first voice. She leads operations, customer experience, brand communication, and community engagement, ensuring that the company remains deeply connected to its audience.

As of 2026, Juicy Chemistry continues to evolve with a focus on science-led innovation, advanced extraction technologies, and clinical validation.Yet, even as it grows, the brand remains anchored in the values with which it began. From a small kitchen in Coimbatore to bathrooms across the world, Juicy Chemistry’s journey is a testament to the power of integrity-driven entrepreneurship.

In an era of excess, exaggeration, and fast beauty, Juicy Chemistry stands as a reminder that authenticity is not a trend—it is a discipline. And when practised consistently, it has the power to redefine an entire industry.

INCREDIBLE TAMILNADU & Retail Shopping

KALYAN JEWELLER’S EXPANSION

TRANSFORMS JEWELLERY SHOPPING IN TAMIL NADU

Kalyan Jewellers’ expansion marks a significant milestone in the evolution of organised jewellery retail in Tamil Nadu. The brand inaugurated two new showrooms in Chennai, one on ECR Road and the other in Red Hills. This development is strategically important, as it represents Kalyan’s 13th showroom in Chennai and its 29th across Tamil Nadu, underlining the company’s focused effort to strengthen its presence in both urban and suburban markets. Unlike a typical jewellery launch that introduces new designs or collections, this move is centred on expanding retail accessibility and strengthening customer reach. Rather than showcasing fresh product lines, the expansion emphasizes convenience and proximity for consumers. By opening stores in areas that were previously underserved by premium jewellery retailers, Kalyan Jewellers is ensuring that a wider audience can access its extensive range of offerings, including gold, diamond, temple jewellery, and designer collections, without having to travel to traditional jewellery hubs. This approach reflects the brand’s long-term vision of blending luxury retail experiences with mass accessibility, catering equally to urban professionals and suburban families.

Accessibility and convenience are at the core of this expansion strategy. Traditionally, premium jewellery shopping in Chennai often required a visit to crowded central shopping districts such as T Nagar, which could be both time-consuming and stressful. The new showrooms on ECR Road and in Red Hills are strategically positioned in coastal and northern suburban areas, effectively bridging the gap between the city center and rapidly growing residential neighbourhoods. This shift mirrors changing consumer behaviour, where buyers increasingly value ease of access, comfort, and efficiency alongside product quality. The suburban locations significantly reduce travel time, offer safer and more spacious shopping environments, and allow families to explore a wide variety of jewellery options in a single visit. In doing so, Kalyan Jewellers is democratizing premium jewellery shopping, making a branded and trustworthy retail experience available to consumers across different income groups and regions. This move enables more frequent and relaxed visits, encouraging informed purchasing decisions rather than limiting jewellery buying to only major festive occasions.

The new showrooms offer a comprehensive range of jewellery designed to meet diverse customer needs. This includes traditional gold and temple jewellery featuring intricate South Indian designs for festive and ceremonial occasions, as well as diamond and gemstone collections that blend modern and classic aesthetics using high-quality materials. In addition, Kalyan offers designer and daily-wear lines that are lightweight, versatile, and suitable for both professional and casual settings. All jewellery sold in these showrooms is BIS-hallmarked and backed by Kalyan Jewellers’ 4-Level Assurance Program, which covers purity certification, lifetime maintenance, and transparent buy-back or exchange policies. These assurances are designed to give customers confidence and security

when making high-value purchases. The store layouts are carefully planned, with well-lit display sections, organized interiors, and professional consultation services that help customers select jewellery suited to their specific occasions and preferences. To mark the inauguration of the new showrooms, Kalyan Jewellers introduced a series of special launch promotions aimed at attracting both loyal customers and new buyers. These offers included discounts on making charges, which lower the overall cost of gold and diamond jewellery, as well as special Gold Board Rate Pricing to ensure consistent and transparent pricing across outlets. In addition, limitedtime festive season offers provided extra incentives for shoppers during the peak holiday period.

These promotional strategies are not just about driving immediate footfall; they also allow customers to explore Kalyan’s existing collections at competitive prices. This approach highlights the brand’s understanding of consumer psychology, with a strong focus on value, trust, and convenience—three pillars that define Kalyan Jewellers’ retail philosophy. The new showrooms also reflect a broader shift in the jewellery retail landscape of Tamil Nadu. For decades, the market was dominated by traditional, family-run jewellery shops that relied on personal relationships and local trust. While these stores offered familiarity and craftsmanship, they often lacked standardization, transparent pricing, and modern customer experiences. Today, there is a growing preference for organised retail chains that offer consistency, ambience, and a predictable quality of service.

Kalyan Jewellers’ new outlets are designed as premium retail spaces, combining modern aesthetics, comfortable seating, and interactive displays. The objective is to create a stress-free shopping environment where customers can take their time, carefully examine products, and make informed decisions. This aligns closely with contemporary consumer expectations, where trust, transparency, and curated experiences are valued more than traditional bargaining and informal retail settings. The impact of this expansion goes beyond business growth and extends into the cultural fabric of jewellery shopping in Tamil Nadu. By opening showrooms in suburban and semiurban areas, Kalyan is reshaping not only where jewellery is bought, but also how it is perceived and experienced. This move reflects changing lifestyles, evolving consumer behaviour, and the broader shift toward organised retail.

Traditionally, jewellery shopping in Tamil Nadu revolved around small, family-run outlets that were often passed down through generations. While these stores offered personal connections and trusted craftsmanship, modern consumers increasingly seek purity certification, standardized pricing, and professional aftersales services. BIS-hallmarked gold and diamonds provide confidence in authenticity, while the availability of multiple collections under one roof—from everyday wear to premium bridal jewellery—caters to a much wider audience. Lifetime maintenance, buy-back options, and transparent policies have become essential expectations rather than optional extras. By establishing stores in locations like ECR Road and Red Hills, Kalyan Jewellers is also redefining the geography of premium jewellery shopping. Instead of traveling to congested commercial centers such as T Nagar, shoppers can now access high-quality jewellery closer to their homes. This convenience benefits families and young professionals alike, offering them the comfort of browsing in modern, spacious environments without the stress of city-center crowds. The result is a more relaxed, frequent, and informed shopping culture.

Customer choice and engagement are further enhanced through the wide variety of offerings available under one roof. Shoppers can explore traditional jewellery such as temple designs, kasu (coin) jewellery, polki styles, and South Indian motifs, alongside modern minimalist and lightweight designs suitable for daily or office wear. Designer pieces and limited-edition collections that blend craftsmanship with global trends add another layer of choice. With trained staff, consultation services, and visualization tools for custom jewellery, the buying process becomes more immersive, educational, and experiential rather than purely transactional. This expansion also reflects a deeper cultural shift in jewellery consumption across Tamil Nadu. Jewellery is no longer viewed only as an investment or a ceremonial asset; it has increasingly become a lifestyle and fashion statement for both urban and suburban consumers. Organised retail is setting new standards by combining comfort, safety, and aesthetic presentation, influencing customer expectations across the entire industry. Buyers are becoming more informed and attentive to purity, design, transparent pricing, and after-sales assurance rather than relying solely on reputation or word-of-mouth.

redefining consumer expectations and setting new benchmarks for organised jewellery retail in Tamil Nadu. For customers, the focus is now on choice, convenience, and confidence rather than just the novelty of designs. For the industry, this expansion signals strategic growth, consolidation, and changing shopping patterns that increasingly favour branded, trusted outlets over traditional stores. In essence, these new showrooms function as experience centers, reshaping how jewellery is bought, experienced, and perceived across the state.

In this context, the ECR Road and Red Hills showrooms are more than just retail outlets— they are catalysts for cultural transformation. By merging modern retail standards with trusted brand assurance, Kalyan Jewellers is shaping how consumers perceive jewellery, how they make purchasing decisions, and how frequently they engage with premium jewellery brands. While the December 2025 expansion does not introduce new jewellery collections, it represents a decisive shift in retail strategy. By bridging urban and suburban markets and offering modern, brandassured shopping environments, Kalyan Jewellers is

Vaels International School was conceptualised as an extension of his larger educational philosophy, combining international academic standards with a strong grounding in Indian culture and ethics. ELEVATING INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY: Royal Care’s Biplane Cathlab Marks a Milestone in Patient Care

Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital marked a defining chapter in its journey of medical excellence with the inauguration of its advanced state-of-the-art Biplane Cathlab within the Interventional Radiology Unit. The launch was more than a ceremonial ribbon-cutting; it was a powerful statement of intent — a reaffirmation of the hospital’s unwavering commitment to bringing world-class medical technology to Coimbatore and beyond. The atmosphere at the hospital campus was charged with anticipation. Doctors, nursing teams, administrators, and invited guests gathered to witness the unveiling of what is widely regarded as one of the most sophisticated imaging and interventional platforms available in modern medicine. Hospital leadership formally inaugurated the facility, emphasizing that the Biplane Cathlab represents not merely an infrastructure upgrade, but a transformative leap in patient care.

A New Era in Precision Medicine

A Biplane Cathlab is no ordinary diagnostic suite. Designed with dual X-ray sources and detectors positioned at different angles, the system enables physicians to capture two high-resolution images simultaneously. This dual-plane visualization significantly enhances procedural accuracy during complex cardiac and neurovascular interventions. For patients, this translates into safer procedures, reduced radiation exposure, and shorter operation times. For clinicians, it offers unmatched clarity, realtime precision, and improved control — especially in intricate cases such as cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, congenital heart defects, and advanced coronary interventions. At Royal Care, the new cathlab stands as a testament to the hospital’s philosophy: invest in the best technology so that clinical teams can deliver the best outcomes.

Strengthening Cardiac & Neurovascular Care

Cardiovascular disease remains one of the leading health challenges in India, while stroke continues to be a major cause of disability and mortality. Timely intervention, guided by advanced imaging, often determines whether a patient makes a full recovery or faces lifealtering consequences.

The Biplane Cathlab significantly enhances the hospital’s capacity to perform:

• Complex coronary angioplasties

• Structural heart interventions

• Endovascular aneurysm repairs

• Neuro-interventional procedures for stroke and brain aneurysms

• Pediatric cardiac interventions

The dual imaging angles allow specialists to visualize blood vessels in three dimensions without constantly repositioning equipment. This reduces procedural time and increases accuracy — a crucial advantage when every second counts, particularly in stroke management.

Designed for Safety and Efficiency

Beyond its clinical capabilities, the new cathlab has been engineered with patient comfort and safety at its core. Advanced dose-reduction technologies minimize radiation exposure without compromising image quality.

The system’s enhanced imaging algorithms provide crystal-clear visualization even in complex anatomical structures. The ergonomically designed suite ensures seamless workflow, enabling cardiologists, neurologists, anesthetists, and support staff to operate with maximum efficiency. Integrated digital systems allow for real-time data recording, storage, and analysis — supporting both immediate clinical decisions and long-term patient follow-up. The result is a space where cutting-edge technology and compassionate care intersect.

A Vision Beyond Infrastructure

During the inauguration ceremony, hospital leadership reiterated that technology alone does not define excellence — it must be paired with expertise and empathy. The Interventional Radiology and Cardiology teams at Royal Care comprise highly trained specialists who continually update their skills to align with global best practices. The addition of the Biplane Cathlab reflects a broader strategic vision: to position the hospital as a regional referral center for advanced cardiac and neurovascular care.

Patients who once needed to travel to metropolitan cities for complex procedures can now access worldclass treatment closer to home. This investment also strengthens medical education and training opportunities within the institution, enabling young specialists to gain hands-on experience with globally benchmarked technology.

Transforming Patient Journeys

For patients and families, the inauguration represents renewed hope. Complex diagnoses often come with anxiety — about risks, outcomes, and accessibility. By integrating advanced imaging technology within a comprehensive care ecosystem, Royal Care reduces uncertainty and builds confidence. Shorter procedure times mean quicker recovery. Enhanced precision means fewer complications. Advanced imaging means earlier detection and timely intervention. Each of these improvements contributes to better survival rates and improved quality of life. Stories of recovery often begin in spaces like this — within the quiet hum of advanced machines and the steady hands of skilled specialists.

A Commitment to Global Standards

Healthcare is evolving rapidly, with technological breakthroughs redefining treatment possibilities every year. By adopting a Biplane Cathlab system, Royal Care aligns itself with international standards observed in leading hospitals worldwide. Such investments demonstrate a forward-thinking approach — one that anticipates future healthcare demands rather than merely responding to present needs. The hospital’s continued focus on innovation reinforces its reputation as a centre of excellence in Tamil Nadu’s healthcare landscape.

Community Impact and Regional Leadership

The inauguration is not only a milestone for the hospital but also for the wider Coimbatore region. Access to advanced cardiac and neurovascular intervention can significantly reduce mortality associated with heart disease and stroke. By

strengthening tertiary care capabilities, Royal Care contributes meaningfully to the region’s healthcare ecosystem. The hospital’s outreach programs, preventive health initiatives, and community engagement efforts complement this technological advancement, ensuring that awareness and access grow hand in hand.

Looking Ahead

As the ceremonial lamp was lit and the facility formally declared operational, there was a shared sense of purpose among everyone present. The Biplane Cathlab is more than a machine; it is a symbol of progress — of medicine moving forward, of institutions daring to invest boldly, and of healthcare teams striving for perfection in every procedure. For Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital, 7 November 2025 will be remembered as a landmark date — the day it strengthened its promise to deliver precision, safety, and world-class care to every patient who walks through its doors. In the ever-advancing world of medicine, moments like these define legacy. And with the launch of its advanced Biplane Cathlab, Royal Care has once again demonstrated that excellence is not an aspiration — it is a standard.

CELEBRATING COURAGE & HOPE: ROYAL CARE SURVIVORS MEET UP 2026

In a powerful celebration of resilience, healing, and renewed life, Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital hosted the much-anticipated Royal Care Survivors Meet Up 2026, bringing together cancer survivors, families, doctors, caregivers, and well-wishers under one roof. The event was not merely a gathering — it was a tribute to courage, a reaffirmation of hope, and a reminder that cancer is a battle that can be fought and won.

Held amidst an atmosphere of warmth and positivity, the Survivors Meet Up became a platform where stories of struggle transformed into narratives of strength. Smiles replaced scars, and gratitude filled the air as survivors shared their journeys — from diagnosis to treatment to triumphant recovery.

A Celebration of Life Beyond Diagnosis

Cancer is often described as one of life’s toughest battles. The emotional, physical, and psychological

challenges can be overwhelming. But events like the Royal Care Survivors Meet Up 2026 highlight a powerful truth — survival is possible, and life after cancer can be vibrant and fulfilling. The meet up brought together hundreds of survivors who had undergone treatment at Royal Care. Many were accompanied by their families — the silent warriors who stood beside them during chemotherapy sessions, surgeries, radiation therapy, and countless hospital visits.

Each survivor carried a unique story. Some spoke about the fear they felt at diagnosis. Others described the uncertainty of treatment. Yet all shared a common thread — the unwavering support of medical teams and loved ones that helped them move forward. The event turned these individual journeys into a collective celebration of resilience.

Royal Care’s Comprehensive Oncology Approach

At the heart of this inspiring gathering lies Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital’s commitment to comprehensive cancer care. Located in Coimbatore, Royal Care has emerged as a leading healthcare institution known for its advanced infrastructure, multidisciplinary expertise, and patient-centric philosophy.

The hospital’s oncology department integrates:

Medical Oncology

Surgical Oncology

Radiation Oncology

Onco-critical care

Psycho-oncology support

Rehabilitation services

This multidisciplinary approach ensures that every patient receives a personalized treatment plan tailored to their specific diagnosis and overall health condition.

Equipped with advanced diagnostic imaging, modern operation theatres, and cutting-edge radiation technology, Royal Care emphasizes precision treatment with minimal side effects. More importantly, the hospital focuses on holistic healing — addressing emotional wellbeing alongside medical recovery.

Stories That Inspire

One of the most moving segments of the Survivors Meet Up 2026 was the sharing of personal testimonies. Survivors spoke about moments of doubt that were transformed into milestones of hope. Some described ringing the “victory bell” after completing chemotherapy. Others spoke about returning to work, resuming hobbies, or celebrating family milestones they once feared they might miss. These stories were not just about survival — they were about rediscovering purpose. Doctors and oncologists who had treated these patients were also present, witnessing firsthand the long-term impact of their efforts. The reunion between patients and medical teams was emotional, reflecting bonds built through trust and compassion.

Beyond Treatment: Building a Supportive Community

Royal Care believes that cancer care does not end with the last cycle of chemotherapy or the final radiation session. Survivorship is a crucial phase that requires ongoing monitoring, lifestyle guidance, emotional counselling, and community support.

The Survivors Meet Up served as a platform to strengthen this support network. Informative sessions addressed topics such as:

Life after cancer treatment

Nutrition and lifestyle modifications

Mental health and emotional resilience

Regular follow-up and early detection

Interactive discussions allowed survivors to ask questions, exchange experiences, and motivate one another. The message was clear — no one fights alone, and no one heals alone.

A Hospital Rooted in Compassion & Excellence

Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital has steadily built a reputation as one of Tamil Nadu’s trusted healthcare institutions. With a strong foundation

in advanced medical technology and specialist expertise, the hospital offers services across multiple super specialities including cardiology, neurology, orthopaedics, organ transplantation, and oncology.

What distinguishes Royal Care is its patient-first philosophy. Every initiative — from investing in advanced equipment to organizing awareness programs and survivor meets — reflects a deep commitment to community health.

The hospital’s integrated care model ensures seamless coordination between departments, enabling faster diagnosis, effective treatment, and comprehensive rehabilitation. In oncology especially, this collaborative approach significantly improves outcomes and enhances quality of life.

Honouring the Human Spirit

The 2026 Survivors Meet Up was not only a medical milestone; it was a celebration of the human spirit. Cultural performances, interactive activities, and heartfelt moments added warmth to the event. Laughter echoed across the venue — a powerful symbol of triumph over adversity. Hospital leadership addressed the gathering, reaffirming Royal Care’s dedication to advancing cancer care and early detection initiatives. They emphasized the importance of regular screenings, awareness campaigns, and timely intervention in reducing cancer mortality. The event concluded with a collective message of hope: cancer is not the end of the story. With early diagnosis, expert treatment, and unwavering support, it can be the beginning of a new chapter.

And in every smiling survivor who walked onto that stage in 2026, that mission was beautifully fulfilled.

Looking Forward with Hope

As the Royal Care Survivors Meet Up 2026 came to a close, it left behind a powerful legacy — one of courage, community, and commitment. For survivors, it was a reminder of how far they had come. For families, it was a celebration of perseverance. For doctors and healthcare professionals, it was a reaffirmation of purpose.

Most importantly, it was a beacon of hope for those currently undergoing treatment — proof that brighter days are possible.

Through initiatives like the Survivors Meet Up, Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital continues to demonstrate that healthcare goes beyond curing disease. It is about restoring lives, rebuilding confidence, and nurturing hope.

MAKKALAI THEDI MARUTHUVAM

TAMILNADU’S DOORSTEP

HEALTHCARE TRIUMPH

In a landmark achievement for public health, Tamil Nadu’s flagship scheme Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam (MTM) has officially crossed 2.5 crore beneficiaries, a milestone celebrated by state leaders and health officials alike. This door-to-door healthcare initiative, launched in August 2021 by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, was designed to bring essential medical services—ranging from screening and treatment to long-term management of chronic diseases—directly to the homes of people across the state. What began as a bold promise of accessible healthcare has today evolved into one of India’s most ambitious public health movements.

The core mission of MTM is to identify and manage non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and hypertension by screening individuals at their homes and ensuring continuous treatment. The scheme provides medicine kits, palliative care services, and physiotherapy, making healthcare both accessible and consistent for patients who otherwise struggle to visit hospitals regularly. A symbolic moment that captured the scale of this achievement was when Health Minister Ma. Subramanian delivered the 2.5 croreth medical kit to Manonmani, a 56-yearold resident of Thennankudi in Thanjavur district, underlining how deeply the programme has reached into everyday lives.

The impact of the scheme has been significant and measurable. According to an impact assessment by the State Planning Commission, MTM has substantially reduced out-of-pocket medical expenses for underprivileged households, in many cases cutting their typical healthcare spending by nearly half. The study also found that more than 50 percent of diabetic patients under the scheme now receive their medicines consistently through MTM, while around 63 percent of hypertension patients are similarly covered. These figures highlight how the programme is not just expanding access, but also improving continuity of care for chronic conditions.

Innovation lies at the heart of MTM’s success. The scheme is supported by a strong digital backbone, with over one crore medical records already digitized. This data-driven approach allows the health system to monitor chronic diseases more effectively and tailor interventions to patient needs. Such digital integration has created a continuity of care that was previously missing, especially in rural and under-resourced areas, ensuring that treatment does not end with a single visit but becomes an ongoing process.

On the ground, the scheme’s reach is visible in countless local stories. In the Nilgiris district alone, over two lakh people have been enrolled since the programme’s inception. Beyond medicine delivery, MTM provides regular health check-ups, palliative services, and physiotherapy through mid-level health providers, helping build trust and sustained engagement with healthcare systems in deeply rural regions. This community-level presence has turned the programme into more than a service— it has become a dependable part of everyday life.

The success of Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam has also drawn international attention, with global agencies praising its implementation model for both innovation and effectiveness. At the same time, managing such a vast operation comes with challenges. Ensuring adequate staffing, maintaining steady medicine supply chains, and sustaining long-term patient follow-up remain constant responsibilities for the health department. Yet, these challenges have not slowed the momentum of the programme.

Looking ahead, MTM is increasingly being seen not just as a treatment initiative, but as a cornerstone of preventive healthcare in Tamil Nadu. Its home-

based model, digital infrastructure, and focus on non-communicable disease management position it as a potential blueprint for other states to follow. By turning homes into the first line of medical care, the scheme is redefining the very idea of primary healthcare for a new generation.

Crossing the 2.5 crore beneficiary mark is more than just a statistical milestone. It stands as a testament to bold governance, public trust, and sustained healthcare innovation. Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam has not only delivered medicines to doorsteps, but also dignity, care, and hope to communities across Tamil Nadu. As the scheme continues to evolve, its promise remains unchanged:

Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam: Tamil Nadu’s Doorstep Healthcare Revolution Reaches 2.5 Crore Citizens

Tamil Nadu continues to set new benchmarks in public health, and the milestone of reaching 2.5 crore beneficiaries under the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam scheme stands as a powerful testament to the state’s commitment to inclusive, accessible, and compassionate healthcare. What began as an ambitious initiative in 2021 has today transformed into one of India’s most impactful home-based healthcare models, touching every district, every neighbourhood, and every vulnerable household. At the heart of this transformation is the vision of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. When he launched Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam on 5 August 2021, he imagined a healthcare system that moves towards the people instead of expecting people to move towards it. His goal was simple yet revolutionary: to bring quality medical care to the doorstep of every citizen, especially the elderly, the chronically ill, and the underserved. Under his leadership, MTM has emerged as India’s most successful doorstep medical service, a model that blends technology, field outreach, and continuous care, and a programme rooted deeply in the values of dignity, access, and welfare. His governance philosophy— that no family should feel left behind—is reflected in every milestone the scheme achieves.

Strong vision alone, however, is not enough without effective execution. Health Minister Ma. Subramanian has been the driving force behind the on-ground implementation of MTM. Known for his energetic field visits and real-time monitoring, he has ensured the smooth distribution of medicine kits, regular screening for non-communicable diseases, frequent performance reviews across districts, recognition of frontline workers, and rapid expansion of the programme as demand surged.

His hands-on involvement has kept the initiative consistent, responsive, and firmly people-oriented. Yet, beyond leadership, the true strength of Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam lies in its vast frontline workforce—the thousands of women, nurses, doctors, and paramedical staff who translate policy into real-world impact. Among them, Women Health Volunteers sourced through women’s SelfHelp Groups have become the emotional and functional backbone of the programme.

They conduct door-to-door health assessments, check blood pressure, sugar levels, and basic vitals, assist diabetic and hypertensive patients, monitor medicine adherence, and maintain trust and continuity within communities. Their presence ensures that MTM is not just a service, but a relationship-based healthcare model, especially valued by senior citizens and rural families.

Supporting them is a strong clinical backbone that includes nurses, physiotherapists, palliative care nurses, mid-level health providers, and paramedical staff. Nurses handle screening and follow-up for non-communicable diseases, physiotherapists provide in-home therapies, palliative care nurses support bedridden patients, and mid-level health providers link community care to hospitals.

stands as more than

Together, they address chronic illnesses, mobility issues, lifestyle diseases, and long-term care needs, effectively transforming homes into healing spaces. The importance of MTM becomes even clearer when seen through the lens of Tamil Nadu’s demographics. With a large population of elderly, economically constrained, and rural households, the scheme is often not just helpful but lifesaving. It ensures free and accessible healthcare, enables early detection of chronic diseases, reduces the need for frequent hospital visits, improves health outcomes, and provides emotional reassurance to families. The fact that it has crossed 2.5 crore beneficiaries reflects the depth of trust the community has placed in this programme. Today, Makkalai

Thedi Maruthuvam

just a state scheme; it has become a national example of how governments, communities, and medical teams can collaborate to achieve universal health access. With continuous expansion, smarter monitoring, and deeper digital integration, the programme promises an even stronger future. In the end, MTM is not merely a scheme—it is a movement. From the vision of M.K. Stalin, to the field leadership of Ma. Subramanian, to the tireless dedication of Women Health Volunteers, nurses, and paramedics, this initiative has reshaped how public healthcare is delivered. As it crosses new milestones, Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam stands tall as a symbol of Tamil Nadu’s commitment to the wellbeing of every citizen—one doorstep at a time.

DESTINY THE FARM RESORT , OOTY

A Luxurious Nature Retreat In The Nilgiris

HOTELS, RESORTS & RESTAURANTS

A Perfect Getaway For Couples, Family & Friends Group

Set deep within the mist-laden folds of the Nilgiri hills, Destiny – The Farm Resort is not merely a destination for accommodation but an immersive experience that redefines what luxury in nature truly means. Located close to Avalanche and Emerald Lake, approximately twenty-five kilometres from the bustling hill town of Ooty, the resort exists in deliberate isolation, removed from traffic noise, crowds, and commercial distractions. Destiny was envisioned as a place where guests do not simply arrive, check in, and rest, but instead slow down, engage with the land, understand nature’s rhythms, and rediscover a way of living that modern life often suppresses. The resort has earned its reputation as one of the Nilgiris’ most distinctive properties by blending eco-conscious living, farm-based experiences, adventure, wellness, and understated luxury into one seamless journey.

The philosophy behind Destiny is rooted in the idea that travel should nourish both body and soul. Unlike conventional luxury resorts that rely on opulence and indulgence alone, Destiny focuses on meaning. Every aspect of the stay— from the journey to the property, the absence of televisions in rooms, the sourcing of food, the interaction with animals, and the emphasis on outdoor life—is carefully curated to help guests disconnect from routine and reconnect with themselves and the natural world. This intentional design is what makes Destiny stand apart in a region already known for its scenic beauty.

The story of Destiny – The Farm Resort begins with its founders, Vijay Prabhu and Meeta Prabhu, a husband-and-wife duo who share a deep commitment to sustainable hospitality and experiential travel. As part of The Littlearth Group, their vision was never limited to creating another hill resort. Instead, they sought to design a sanctuary where modern comfort could exist harmoniously with rural life, ecological responsibility, and educational value. They believed that luxury travel should evolve beyond indulgence into awareness, where guests leave not just relaxed but enriched. While the exact year of the resort’s establishment is not widely recorded, its philosophy and execution quickly earned admiration from travellers seeking something authentic and

transformative. From the outset, the founders placed sustainability at the heart of Destiny’s identity. The land was not reshaped aggressively to suit construction; rather, the resort was designed to blend into the valley it inhabits. Stone, wood, and natural materials dominate the architecture, while open spaces ensure that the surrounding landscape remains the focal point. Farming was never an afterthought but a foundational element. The working farm was envisioned as both a source of sustenance and a space for learning, ensuring that guests could understand the journey of food from soil to plate. Over time, Destiny evolved into a model of responsible tourism, demonstrating that hospitality can be luxurious without being wasteful or intrusive.

Reaching Destiny itself is an experience that signals a departure from the ordinary. After navigating scenic hill roads, guests are required to leave their vehicles at a designated point and complete the final stretch via a rugged four-wheel-drive shuttle. This adventurous approach road is not a mere logistical necessity but an intentional transition. As the terrain becomes rougher and the landscape more dramatic, the outside world begins to fade. By the time guests arrive at the resort, surrounded by hills, forests, and expansive views, the sense of arrival feels profound, almost ceremonial. The valley opens up to reveal cottages nestled into the hillside, farm animals grazing freely, and mist drifting lazily across the landscape. The setting of Destiny is one of its greatest strengths. Positioned near

Avalanche and Emerald Lake, the resort enjoys uninterrupted views of rolling hills, dense forests, and shimmering water bodies. The air is crisp, filled with birdsong and the occasional distant call of wildlife. The region is rich in biodiversity, and it is not uncommon for guests to spot birds, butterflies, and other native species during their stay. Mornings are often wrapped in mist, creating an ethereal atmosphere, while evenings bring dramatic sunsets that paint the sky in shades of gold and crimson. For photographers, writers, and artists, the environment offers endless inspiration, while for weary urban travellers, it provides profound calm.

Accommodation at Destiny is designed to complement this setting rather than compete with it. The rooms and cottages follow a rustic yet elegant aesthetic, emphasizing warmth, comfort, and connection to nature. Wooden flooring, stone accents, and large windows create spaces that feel both grounded and inviting. Each room opens up to views of valleys, forests, or lakes, ensuring that nature remains present at all times. The resort offers multiple categories of accommodation, catering to different needs while maintaining a consistent philosophy of understated luxury.

Standard and Deluxe rooms provide cozy, thoughtfully furnished spaces that are ideal for couples or solo travellers. These rooms focus on comfort and simplicity, offering all essential amenities without unnecessary excess. Superior rooms elevate the experience further by offering private balconies and enhanced views, making them particularly appealing to guests who value solitude and scenic beauty. The Luxury rooms represent the pinnacle of comfort at Destiny, featuring fireplaces, private terraces, and in some cases, Jacuzzis. These rooms are especially popular with honeymooners and families seeking a premium retreat amidst nature’s embrace. One of the most distinctive features of the stay is the absence of televisions in the rooms. This deliberate choice reflects the resort’s philosophy of digital detox and mindful living.Without the constant presence of screens, guests naturally gravitate

toward conversation, reading, reflection, and exploration. Evenings are often spent by the fireplace, listening to the wind rustle through trees or watching the sky transform as night falls. This simplicity, paradoxically, feels luxurious in a world dominated by digital noise.

Food at Destiny – The Farm Resort is a defining aspect of the experience, deeply connected to the land and its rhythms. The resort follows a true farm-to-table philosophy, sourcing vegetables, herbs, dairy, and other produce directly from its working farm. This ensures freshness, seasonality, and sustainability, while also allowing guests to understand the origins of what they consume. Dining becomes an extension of the resort’s educational and immersive ethos rather than a standalone indulgence.

The main restaurant, Wishbone, serves a thoughtfully curated multi-cuisine menu that balances comfort with creativity. South Indian dishes sit comfortably alongside continental fare and locally inspired specialties, all prepared using fresh ingredients harvested from the farm. Meals are typically served buffet-style, encouraging guests to sample a variety of dishes and engage in relaxed, communal dining. The flavours are wholesome and satisfying, reflecting home-style cooking elevated by quality ingredients rather than heavy sauces or excessive embellishment.

Breakfasts are particularly memorable, often featuring freshly baked bread, seasonal fruits, farm-fresh dairy, and hot dishes prepared to order. Lunches and dinners continue the theme of variety and nourishment, with vegetarian options taking centre stage due to the abundance of fresh produce. Desserts, often made using local ingredients, provide a comforting conclusion to meals. A cozy coffee shop within the property offers freshly brewed coffee, baked treats, and light refreshments, becoming a favourite retreat during misty afternoons.

What truly distinguishes dining at Destiny, however, is its interactive element. Guests are invited to participate in farm tours that explain how vegetables are grown and harvested, while cooking demonstrations reveal how simple ingredients are transformed into flavourful meals. For children, these experiences are particularly impactful, offering lessons in sustainability and healthy eating that extend far beyond the holiday itself. At the heart of Destiny lies its working farm, which functions as both an operational and experiential space. Unlike decorative farms designed solely for aesthetics, Destiny’s farm is alive with daily activity. Horses, cows, sheep, ducks, rabbits, and other animals roam freely, contributing to the sense of

authenticity.Vegetable gardens and herb plantations supply much of the resort’s kitchen, reinforcing the connection between land and table. Guests are encouraged to participate in daily farm activities, whether it is milking cows, collecting eggs, feeding animals, or tending to plants. These hands-on experiences are not staged performances but genuine opportunities to engage with rural life. For urban children, such interactions can be transformative, fostering empathy, curiosity, and respect for animals and nature. Adults, too, often find these simple tasks unexpectedly grounding, offering a reminder of life’s essential rhythms.

Beyond farm life, Destiny offers a wide range of outdoor activities that allow guests to explore the surrounding landscape actively. Guided treks take visitors through forests and hills, revealing hidden viewpoints and local flora. Horseback riding is a particularly popular activity, offering a unique perspective on the terrain. Adventure enthusiasts can enjoy zip-lining, fishing, and even camping under the stars, while those seeking quieter pursuits can opt for nature walks, birdwatching, or photography sessions. The diversity of activities ensures that guests of all ages and interests find meaningful engagement.

Wellness at Destiny is approached holistically, integrating physical relaxation with mental and emotional well-being. The resort’s spa offers massages and rejuvenating treatments designed to ease tension and restore balance. A highlight is the Jacuzzi overlooking the lake, where guests can soak while taking in panoramic views of the surrounding hills. Yoga and meditation sessions are also available, allowing guests to practice mindfulness in an environment that naturally encourages introspection and calm. The fresh mountain air, combined with the absence of urban distractions, amplifies the restorative effects of these practices.

One of Destiny’s most appreciated features is its petfriendly policy. In a hospitality landscape where pets are often excluded, Destiny welcomes them wholeheartedly. The resort provides kennels, play areas, and even a gourmet menu for pets, ensuring that families do not have to leave their furry companions behind. This inclusive approach enhances the sense of home and belonging that many guests feel during their stay.

Seasonality plays a significant role in shaping the Destiny experience. During the monsoon months, the landscape transforms into a lush, emerald paradise, with mist weaving through hills and vegetation thriving. Winter brings crisp air, clear skies, and cozy evenings by the fireplace, creating a romantic and introspective atmosphere. Summers remain pleasantly cool, making it an ideal time for outdoor exploration and farm activities. Each season offers a distinct personality, ensuring that repeat visits feel fresh and rewarding.

The Farm Resort consistently highlight its scenic beauty, attentive service, immersive activities, and wholesome food. Families praise the educational value of the farm experiences, noting how children return home with new perspectives on food and nature. Couples appreciate the privacy, tranquility, and romantic ambiance, while adventure seekers enjoy the range of outdoor pursuits. Many guests describe their stay as transformative rather than merely relaxing, emphasizing the emotional and psychological impact of disconnecting from routine and reconnecting with the natural world. What ultimately sets Destiny apart is its integrity. Every element of the resort reflects a coherent philosophy rather than a collection of disconnected amenities. Luxury here is not about excess but about intention—intentional

design, intentional living, and intentional engagement with the environment. Destiny demonstrates that responsible tourism can be deeply satisfying, that learning can be joyful, and that comfort can coexist with simplicity. Destiny – The Farm Resort in Ooty stands as a benchmark for experiential hospitality in India. It offers far more than a scenic escape; it provides a holistic journey that nourishes mind, body, and spirit. Through its eco-friendly ethos, farm-to-table dining, immersive activities, and thoughtful luxury, Destiny invites guests to rediscover a slower, more meaningful way of living. Whether one seeks adventure, relaxation, family bonding, or quiet reflection, Destiny delivers an experience that lingers long after departure, leaving guests refreshed, inspired, and profoundly connected to nature.

INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENTS IN CLEAN ENERGY & MANUFACTURING

GLOBAL TAMIL NADU

In 2025, Tamil Nadu has emerged as a prime destination for international investments, particularly in clean energy and high-tech manufacturing. Global corporations and Indian enterprises are investing heavily in renewable energy projects, advanced manufacturing facilities, and battery storage infrastructure. These initiatives are not only boosting the state’s economic growth but also positioning Tamil Nadu as a leader in sustainable development and industrial innovation.

Clean Energy: Transforming Tamil Nadu’s Power Landscape

A major highlight is NLC India Ltd’s ambitious expansion, with a total investment of ₹1.17 lakh crore over the next few years. Of this, ₹41,000 crore is dedicated to renewable energy projects and pumped hydro storage, including a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) — the first large-scale storage project in the state. These initiatives will store surplus solar and wind energy, stabilize the grid, and ensure reliable power supply. By integrating renewable energy and modern storage, Tamil Nadu is moving toward a low-carbon, sustainable energy future.

High-Tech Manufacturing: Electronics, Robotics & Automation

Tamil Nadu is also attracting global investors in advanced manufacturing. Germany’s Agile Robots SE invested ₹300 crore in a robotics plant at SIPCOT Irungattukottai, while SOL India Pvt Ltd (Italy) set up a ₹175 crore air-separation plant. Additionally, SFO Technologies is planning a ₹2,270 crore electronics components facility in Theni district. These projects create skilled jobs in robotics, automation, electronics, and related sectors, strengthening Tamil Nadu’s position as a high-tech industrial hub.

Policy Support: Encouraging Global Investments

The Tamil Nadu government has actively facilitated these investments through MoUs, policy incentives, and industrial infrastructure development. With coastal access, renewable energy potential, and established industrial zones, the state offers an ideal ecosystem for clean energy and manufacturing projects. Policy measures and streamlined approvals are attracting both domestic and international players, enhancing confidence in Tamil Nadu’s investment climate.

Economic and Social Impact

These investments are expected to generate thousands of new jobs, from skilled technicians to engineers and assembly-line staff. The renewable energy projects improve energy security and grid stability, while advanced manufacturing supports industrial diversification and exports. The resulting economic boost benefits local communities, educational institutions, and ancillary industries, creating a positive ripple effect across the state.

Sustainability

and Environmental Benefits

Clean energy investments reduce reliance on fossil fuels, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to India’s climate commitments. Battery storage and renewable integration enhance grid efficiency and enable consistent, reliable power. Tamil Nadu’s move toward sustainable energy demonstrates how economic growth can go handin-hand with environmental responsibility.

Challenges and the Road Ahead

While the outlook is promising, scaling projects requires environmental clearances, skilled workforce development, and infrastructure upgrades. Balancing industrial growth with ecological sustainability will be key to longterm success. Strategic planning and stakeholder collaboration are essential to fully realize the benefits of these investments.

Tamil Nadu as a Global Leader

By attracting substantial international investments in clean energy and manufacturing, Tamil Nadu is charting a new path for sustainable growth, technological advancement, and industrial excellence. The state’s proactive policies, strategic location, and skilled workforce make it a beacon of innovation and economic opportunity, inspiring confidence among investors and residents alike.

INCREDIBLE TAMILNADU & Heritage Architecture

VICTORIA PUBLIC HALL

CHENNAI’S HISTORIC

MASTERPIECE REAWAKENS

Rising with quiet authority along Poonamallee High Road, Victoria Public Hall stands as one of the most powerful reminders of Chennai’s layered history and enduring civic spirit. Completed in 1888, at a time when the city was known as Madras, the building was conceived during an era when architecture was not merely functional but deeply symbolic. Designed by the renowned architect Robert Chisholm, Victoria Public Hall embodied the Indo-Saracenic style that he helped pioneer—an architectural language that fused Indian traditions with Islamic forms and Gothic revival elements. This synthesis resulted in a structure that felt at once imperial and indigenous, formal yet welcoming, monumental yet rooted in local identity. The hall was built to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria, but from the moment it opened its doors, it transcended its commemorative purpose. It quickly became one of the most important public spaces in the city, a place where citizens gathered not as subjects or spectators but as active participants in civic life. With its imposing red-brick façade, elegant arches, stained-glass windows, and distinctive clock tower, the building announced itself as a landmark of both architectural ambition and social relevance. Inside, tall teakwood ceilings amplified voices and performances, while wide verandas and galleries encouraged conversation, debate, and shared experience.

For decades, Victoria Public Hall served as a dynamic centre for political meetings, social reform movements, theatrical productions, musical performances, and public debates. In an age before auditoriums and convention centres became commonplace, this hall functioned as the city’s principal stage for collective expression. Leaders addressed citizens, artists found audiences, and ideas were tested, challenged, and refined within its walls. Generations of Chennai’s residents came to associate the hall with moments of transformation—personal, cultural, and political. It was here that the pulse of public life could be felt most strongly, making the building not just a monument of brick and timber, but a living archive of the city’s evolving identity.

Architecture as Memory and Meaning

What made Victoria Public Hall exceptional was not only its role in public life, but the architectural intelligence with which it was conceived. Robert Chisholm’s design balanced grandeur with human scale, allowing the building to command respect without alienating those who entered it. The symmetrical façade, punctuated by rhythmic arches and crowned by a clock tower, conveyed order and authority, while the intricate detailing softened its presence and invited closer engagement. The use of red brick, combined with pale stone accents and ornamental plasterwork, gave the hall a warmth that distinguished it from more austere colonial structures.

Inside, the building revealed a careful orchestration of space and light. Large halls flowed into galleries and balconies, creating visual connections between performers and audiences, speakers and listeners. The teakwood staircases, crafted with precision and restraint, added both structural strength and aesthetic richness. Stained-glass windows filtered sunlight into muted hues, lending the interiors a sense

of dignity and calm. Every architectural element, from the verandas that sheltered visitors from sun and rain to the high ceilings that moderated heat, reflected a deep understanding of local climate and social usage. In this way, Victoria Public Hall was not an imported design imposed upon the city, but a thoughtful adaptation that responded to Chennai’s environment and cultural rhythms.

Decline, Neglect, and the Threat of Loss

Yet even the most admired landmarks are vulnerable to time. As decades passed, Victoria Public Hall began to suffer the cumulative effects of weather, neglect, and changing urban priorities. Monsoon rains seeped

into walls and ceilings, weakening plaster and timber. The once-proud teakwood beams and balconies showed signs of rot and fatigue. Decorative elements crumbled, paint peeled, and the clock tower—so long a visual anchor for the neighbourhood—developed visible structural distress. By the late twentieth century, safety concerns forced large portions of the building to be closed.

Public events dwindled, and the hall slowly slipped out of everyday consciousness. What had once been a vibrant civic space became a silent structure, admired from a distance but rarely experienced from within. For many residents, Victoria Public Hall existed more as a memory than a living place, its significance acknowledged but its potential unrealised. The risk was no longer mere deterioration, but the possibility that the building might be lost altogether—either to irreversible damage or to the apathy that often precedes demolition.

The Decision to Restore and Reimagine

The turning point came with a growing recognition that heritage buildings are not obstacles to progress, but essential anchors of urban identity. Acknowledging the historical, architectural, and cultural value of Victoria Public Hall, the Government of Tamil Nadu initiated a comprehensive restoration project aimed at rescuing the structure from decay and restoring it to public life.

This decision marked not only an investment in a single building, but a broader commitment to preserving Chennai’s architectural legacy. From the outset, the restoration was guided by the principle of authenticity. Conservation architects and historians worked together to study original drawings, photographs, and material samples, ensuring that interventions would respect the building’s original character. Structural engineers assessed the extent of damage and designed reinforcements that could be integrated without altering the hall’s visual identity. Skilled artisans, familiar with traditional construction techniques, were engaged to recreate decorative elements that had been lost or damaged beyond repair.

A Restoration of Patience and Precision

The process of restoring Victoria Public Hall proved to be both complex and demanding. Strengthening the foundation and load-bearing columns was essential to ensure the building’s long-term stability, but this work had to be carried out without disturbing the historic fabric above. Decorative arches were rebuilt using heritage-grade materials carefully matched to those used in the nineteenth century. Teakwood staircases and balcony galleries were dismantled where necessary, treated for pests and decay, and reassembled with painstaking care.

Flooring damaged by decades of moisture and wear was replaced with materials selected to echo the original textures and tones. Plasterwork was repaired by hand, restoring ornamental details that had faded into obscurity. Throughout the process, modern interventions were introduced with restraint. New electrical systems, lighting, acoustics, accessibility features, and fire-safety mechanisms were integrated discreetly, ensuring that contemporary standards were met without compromising historical integrity. Climate-controlled areas were added to protect future museum exhibits, recognising that preservation is an ongoing responsibility rather than a onetime effort.

The restoration was not without setbacks. Unforeseen structural issues emerged as work progressed, increasing both costs and timelines. Sourcing traditional materials proved challenging, as did finding artisans skilled in historical techniques. Deadlines were extended, budgets revised, and plans adapted. Yet despite these obstacles, the commitment to reviving Victoria Public Hall never faltered. The most intensive phase of restoration, carried out between 2020 and 2025, ultimately brought the project to completion, setting the stage for the hall’s long-awaited reopening.

Rebirth as a Cultural and Civic Destination

As Victoria Public Hall prepares to reopen, it does so with a renewed sense of purpose. The restored building is envisioned not merely as a preserved monument, but as a living cultural institution designed to serve the needs of contemporary Chennai. Its interiors are being transformed into a museum that will chronicle the city’s rich and complex history. Through archival photographs, colonial-era documents, civic records, and period artefacts, visitors will be invited to explore the many layers of Chennai’s past. Interactive displays and curated narratives will make this history accessible to students, tourists, researchers, and residents alike, ensuring that the hall functions as a space of learning as well as remembrance.

At the heart of the building, the grand central hall is reclaiming its historic role as a gathering place. Reimagined as a modern auditorium, it will host theatrical performances, music concerts, lectures, and cultural festivals. Improved acoustics, advanced lighting, and comfortable seating have been introduced, while original architectural elements— wooden balconies, arches, and galleries—have been carefully preserved. This balance between old and new allows the hall to function as a contemporary performance venue without sacrificing the atmosphere that made it special in the first place.

A Space for Public Life Once More

Beyond the museum and auditorium, Victoria Public Hall is set to become a hub for exhibitions, heritage walks, academic discussions, and community events. By reopening its doors to the public, the building restores a vital civic space to the city—a place where people can gather not just to observe history, but to participate in its ongoing creation. For younger generations, the hall offers a tangible connection to the past, allowing them to experience history not as an abstract concept but as a lived environment.

The revival of Victoria Public Hall carries significance far beyond its walls. It represents a renewed commitment to heritage conservation, demonstrating that historic buildings can be adapted to contemporary needs without losing their soul. It reinforces Chennai’s identity as a city that values culture, dialogue, and continuity, even as it embraces growth and change. Most importantly, it ensures that a structure once central to public life can once again fulfil that role, inspiring future generations with the same sense of possibility it offered to those who gathered there more than a century ago.

A Monument Reclaimed for the Future

Victoria Public Hall now rises once more, restored with devotion and reimagined with clarity of purpose. Its red-brick walls, elegant arches, and iconic clock tower stand not as relics of a bygone era, but as active participants in the city’s present and future. As it prepares to welcome visitors again, the hall reclaims its place as a symbol of Chennai’s resilience, creativity, and civic pride—a historic masterpiece reawakened, ready to inspire generations yet to come.

KAVADI ATTAM THE DEVOTIONAL DANCE OF LORD MURUGAN

Kavadi Attam, one of Tamil Nadu’s most revered ritual performances, is far more than a dance—it is a profound expression of surrender, sacrifice, and spiritual joy offered to Lord Murugan. Practised for centuries, this ritual is performed during major Murugan festivals like Thaipusam, Panguni Uthiram, and Skanda Sashti, drawing thousands of devotees who carry their burdens in the form of a “kavadi,” seeking blessings, healing, or the fulfillment of vows. Rooted in ancient mythology and embodied through physical endurance and meditative rhythm, Kavadi Attam stands as one of Tamil culture’s most vibrant symbols of faith.

Mythological Origins: The Story of Idumban

The legend behind Kavadi Attam traces back to the story of Idumban, a devoted disciple of Sage Agathiyar. Assigned the task of carrying two hills as penance, Idumban tied them to a pole, creating the earliest form of the kavadi. After an encounter with Lord Murugan on Palani Hill, Idumban surrendered his pride and attained divine grace. Inspired by his devotion, Murugan declared that anyone carrying a kavadi with sincerity would be blessed. This

myth remains the spiritual foundation of the ritual, reminding devotees that humility and perseverance are pathways to divine mercy.

The Kavadi: Symbol of Faith and Sacrifice

The kavadi itself is a beautifully crafted offering, often made from bamboo, wood, cloth, flowers, peacock feathers, and vibrant decorations symbolizing purity and devotion. Each kavadi represents a personal burden—physical, emotional, or spiritual—that the

devotee chooses to carry as a vow to Murugan. While some carry simple kavadis decorated lightly with flowers, others opt for elaborate structures weighing several kilograms, turning their journey into an act of profound endurance and spiritual surrender.

Ritual Preparation: Discipline, Purity, and Vows

Performing the Kavadi Attam is not spontaneous— it requires days or even weeks of preparation. Devotees undertake strict vratham, observing celibacy, consuming satvik food, avoiding worldly distractions, and engaging in prayer, meditation, and temple visits. Many wear saffron or yellow attire, symbolic of Murugan’s divine energy. The preparation is believed to cleanse the mind and purify the body, aligning the devotee’s spirit with the purpose of the ritual. For many, this period becomes a transformative journey of introspection and self-control.

The Dance of Devotion: Movement, Rhythm, and Trance

The actual performance of Kavadi Attam is a mesmerizing blend of rhythmic steps, swaying movements, chants, and musical beats. As nadaswaram and thavil players intensify the tempo, devotees enter a meditative, trancelike state, dancing with their kavadi balanced on their shoulders. The movements are energetic yet controlled, symbolizing the soul’s attempt to transcend physical limitations. The repetitive rhythms, the weight of the kavadi, and the spiritual chants collectively create an atmosphere of divine ecstasy, drawing spectators into the emotional power of the ritual.

Pain, Piercing, and Symbolic Endurance

In some traditions, devotees choose to express extreme devotion through body piercings—such as cheek skewers, tongue piercing, or hooks attached to the kavadi. These acts, performed under strict ritual supervision, are seen as symbols of discipline and the renunciation of worldly desires. Many believe that during the ritual, devotees experience reduced pain due to deep devotion and heightened spiritual focus. Though optional and not universally practised, these elements reflect the intensity of faith embedded in the tradition.

Community Processions: A Collective Spiritual Experience

Kavadi Attam is often performed in large processions, where families, musicians, temple priests, and entire communities accompany devotees on their journey to Murugan temples. Streets come alive with music, chanting of “Vel! Vel! Muruga Vel!”, flower offerings, and the fragrance of camphor. These processions reinforce unity, compassion, and shared devotion, making every Kavadi festival a vibrant cultural and spiritual event. For rural and urban communities alike, the ritual becomes a way of reconnecting with tradition and collective identity.

Festivals Celebrating Kavadi Attam

The most iconic festival associated with Kavadi Attam is Thaipusam, celebrated with grandeur at Palani, Tiruchendur, Marudamalai, and other Murugan shrines. During this period, thousands undertake kavadi yatra, walking miles barefoot or ascending hills to offer their vows. Other major celebrations include Panguni Uthiram, honoring divine unions, and Skanda Sashti, marking Murugan’s victory over Surapadman. Each festival carries unique rituals, local customs, and variations of the kavadi tradition, enriching the cultural landscape of Tamil Nadu.

Cultural and Sociological Significance

Beyond its religious importance, Kavadi Attam plays a key role in preserving Tamil heritage. It nurtures traditional music, costume-making, folk dance, and ritual craftsmanship. For many rural artisans, festival seasons provide livelihood through kavadi construction and performance-related arts. The ritual also strengthens family bonds, as vows are often made collectively for health, prosperity, or gratitude. In this way, Kavadi Attam serves as both a spiritual and social anchor within Tamil communities.

Modern Adaptations and Global Reach

While deeply rooted in tradition, Kavadi Attam has evolved to reflect modern sensibilities. Urban temples conduct shorter, organized processions; young participants use lightweight kavadis; and safety measures are more widely followed. The ritual has also gained international visibility, especially in Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and among the Tamil diaspora worldwide. Despite modernization, the emotional intensity and devotional core of Kavadi Attam remain intact, proving its enduring appeal across generations.

The Eternal Flame of Devotion

Kavadi Attam stands as a timeless symbol of Tamil Nadu’s spiritual strength and cultural richness. It embodies sacrifice, discipline, devotion, and the unbreakable bond between Lord Murugan and his devotees. Whether performed on temple streets, during grand festivals, or in distant lands, the essence of Kavadi Attam continues to inspire awe, unity, and unwavering faith. In a rapidly changing world, this ritual dance remains a powerful reminder that true devotion can lift burdens, purify the soul, and bring divine blessings to all who seek it with sincerity.

Courtallam) and Tiger Falls (Puliyaruvi) provide peaceful retreats away from the bustling crowds, ideal for meditation or solitude. What makes Courtallam truly special is the mineral-rich nature of its waters. As the streams flow over forested rocks, they pick up various natural minerals and herbs, which are believed to possess therapeutic properties. Bathing in these falls is said to improve skin health, alleviate fatigue, and refresh the mind and body, giving visitors a natural spa experience unlike any other. The interplay of mist, sound, and cool water provides a serene environment, making the waterfalls the primary attraction and the heartbeat of Courtallam.

The Kutralanathar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is an ancient shrine that has been revered for centuries. It is one of the 275 PaadalPetra Sthalams, visited by Saivite saints who have composed hymns in praise of the deity. Within the temple complex lies the Chitra Sabha, a hall adorned with exquisite mural paintings depicting mythological stories, deities, and cultural narratives. This temple and its associated structures are historically and architecturally significant, showcasing the region’s rich artistic traditions and spiritual importance. A NEW ERA FOR HOCKEY IN SOUTHERN TAMIL NADU

SPORTS & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

On 22 November 2025, the Madurai International Hockey Stadium was inaugurated, marking a historic moment for Madurai and the sporting landscape of Tamil Nadu. Built within the Race Course Complex, the stadium is designed to meet international standards and aims to transform Madurai into a hub of hockey excellence. Its inauguration comes just ahead of the 2025 Men’s FIH Junior Hockey World Cup, co-hosted by Madurai and Chennai, bringing global attention to the city.

World-Class Infrastructure: Features of the Stadium

The stadium boasts a wide range of modern facilities to meet international requirements. It has an Olympic-standard blue astro-turf pitch, advanced floodlighting for night matches, and well-equipped locker rooms for players and umpires. Administrative blocks, medical and firstaid facilities, media and VIP lounges, and spectator restrooms ensure a professional and comfortable environment. Seating includes permanent galleries, with temporary stands added during major events to accommodate larger crowds. A fan engagement zone has been created to enhance the experience for visitors during international competitions.

Inauguration Ceremony: Dignitaries and Speeches

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Udhayanidhi Stalin, along with other political and sports dignitaries. In his speech, he highlighted the stadium as a testament to Tamil Nadu’s ambition to become a global sporting destination. Hockey India representatives welcomed the stadium as a historic milestone that will boost grassroots participation and provide a platform for future international events.

Role in the 2025 Men’s FIH Junior Hockey World Cup

Madurai International Hockey Stadium is one of the key venues for the 2025 Men’s FIH Junior Hockey World Cup. This marks the first time Madurai is hosting an international-level hockey event of such magnitude, putting the city on the global sports map.

Local Impact: Sports, Community, and Future Talent

The stadium fills a long-standing gap in quality hockey infrastructure for southern districts. It offers opportunities for state-level championships, training camps, and grassroots programs. Schools and youth organizations are planning visits to watch matches, inspiring young athletes. The stadium also boosts the local economy by attracting visitors, increasing demand for hotels, restaurants, and other services. By decentralizing sports infrastructure, the stadium encourages broader participation in hockey and sports in general.

Challenges and the Road Ahead

While the inauguration is a milestone, the longterm success of the stadium depends on regular maintenance, high-quality coaching programs, and continued community engagement. Ensuring turf quality, proper lighting, security, and logistical support for large-scale events will be crucial.
