angalore, a city once defined solely by its IT parks and pleasant weather, has undergone a radical transformation into India’s most sophisticated hospitality and culinary ecosystem. By 2026, the city’s Food, Restaurant, Hotel, and Hospitality Industry has become a primary engine of the state's economy, contributing significantly to Karnataka's $1 trillion goal. This growth is driven by a unique confluence of factors: a hyper-globalized workforce, the rise of "precision wellness," the digital integration of services, and a newfound pride in regional heritage.
The Hotel Industry: A Sky-High Inventory Growth: As of early 2026, Bangalore boasts one of the highest densities of luxury and "upper-upscale" hotel rooms in South Asia. The surge is fuelled by the city's status as a global hub for Global Capability Centres and a preferred destination for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions).
Luxury Expansion: Global giants like Marriott, Hilton, and IHG have expanded their footprints beyond the central business district into North Bangalore (near Kempegowda International Airport) and the Outer Ring Road. New ultraluxury entries like the Waldorf Astoria and specialized Boutique brands have redefined the city's skyline. The "Airport City" Effect: The development of BLR Airport City has created a selfcontained hospitality hub. With over 1,500 new rooms added in the airport vicinity by late 2025, Bangalore has become a transit-luxury destination, catering to international business travellers who no longer need to brave city traffic for highstakes meetings. Occupancy and RevPAR: In 2025, Bangalore led Indian metros in Revenue Per Available Room (RevPAR) growth,
with average occupancy rates hovering near 78%, driven by a relentless calendar of tech summits and the "Invest Karnataka" momentum.
The Restaurant Revolution: From "Pub Capital" to "Culinary Lab": Bangalore has officially shed its singular "Pub Capital" moniker to become India’s premier culinary laboratory. The Rise of Ingredient-First Dining: 2025 saw a massive shift toward hyper-local sourcing. Elite restaurants in Indiranagar and Lavelle Road now feature "Farm-to-Fork" menus where 90% of ingredients are sourced from the Mysuru-Chamarajanagar belt. The Microbrewery 2.0 Era: While the city still leads India with over 80 microbreweries, the focus has shifted from quantity to "Craft & Culture." In 2026, breweries are incorporating indigenous ingredients like Nanjangud bananas, ragi, and filter coffee into their fermentation processes. The "Swicy" and "Fricy" Trend: Aligning with global 2026 trends, Bangalore’s gastropubs are pioneering "Fricy" (Fruity + Spicy) palettes—think Bird’s Eye Chili infused with Mangalorean Pineapple—capturing the Gen Z demographic's adventurous taste buds.
EDITOR -IN - CHIEF From The Desk Of
Food Technology and the "Body OS" Era: In Bangalore, food is no longer just sustenance; it is data. The city’s techsavviness has bled into its kitchens. AI-Integrated Dining: Many high-end establishments now offer "Precision Nutrition" menus. In 2026, it is common to find restaurants where customers can sync their wearable health data to receive meal recommendations optimized for their current glucose levels or recovery needs (the "Body OS" trend). The Cloud Kitchen Consolidation: While physical dining is thriving, the cloud kitchen market in Bangalore has matured. Companies are utilizing AI-driven demand forecasting to reduce food waste by 40%, making Bangalore a global model for sustainable urban food delivery.
Hospitality in the "Beyond Bengaluru" Mission: The Government of Karnataka's "Beyond Bengaluru" initiative has pushed hospitality growth into tier-2 cities, creating a statewide network of luxury and heritage travel. The Heritage Circuit: Increased investment in Hampi, Badami, and Pattadakal has seen the entry of luxury "glamping" sites and heritage boutique hotels that offer five-star amenities in ancient settings. Coastal Hospitality: The Mangaluru -Udupi corridor has seen a 30% rise in resort inventory, positioning the Karnataka coast as a serious rival to Goa for the premium domestic traveller.
Sustainable and Green Hospitality: Bangalore is leading the national charge in Green Hospitality. Under the Industrial Policy 2025-2030, hotels that implement Zero Liquid Discharge and 100% renewable energy are receiving significant state subsidies. Plastic-Free Dominance: By 2026, most major hotel chains in the city have achieved "Zero Single-Use Plastic" status, utilizing biodegradable alternatives developed by local Bangalore-based startups. Urban Farming: Luxury hotels like the ITC Gardenia and The Leela have expanded their rooftop hydroponic farms, providing fresh microgreens and herbs directly to their kitchens, reducing the carbon footprint of logistics.
Human Capital: Training the Future: To support this enormous growth, Bangalore has become a hub for hospitality education. The state government has partnered with international institutions to upgrade the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Bangalore, ensuring a steady pipeline of skilled workforce proficient in AI-driven hospitality management and global culinary arts.
Dr. S. E. Alexander Global Media Chief & MD
The $1 Trillion Appetite: The hospitality and food sector in Bangalore is no longer a peripheral service industry; it is a core pillar of the "Brand Karnataka" identity. As we navigate through 2026, the city offers a unique blend of high-tech efficiency and high-touch "Atithi Devo Bhava" service. Whether it is a ₹50 filter coffee at a heritage "Darshini" or a ₹50,000 personalized tasting menu at a tech-enabled luxury suite, Bangalore’s hospitality industry is thriving, diverse, and undeniably world-class.

PANACHEE: REDEFINING THE LIFESTYLE EXHIBITION EXPERIENCE
In an era where shopping is increasingly fast-paced and transactional, Panachee Fashion & Lifestyle Exhibition stands apart as a thoughtfully curated experience that celebrates design, craftsmanship, and conscious consumption. Conceptualized in 2016, Panachee was created to bridge a crucial gap in South India’s fashion and lifestyle ecosystem—bringing together emerging designers, established brands, skilled artisans, and discerning shoppers under one refined platform. Over the years, it has grown into one of the region’s most respected and anticipated lifestyle exhibitions, known for its quality, exclusivity, and immersive presentation.
The Vision Behind Panachee
Panachee was founded with a clear and distinctive vision: to move beyond the limitations of conventional retail spaces and create an environment where discovery, inspiration, and personal connection take centre stage. Unlike traditional markets or mall-based sales, Panachee was designed as a curated showcase rather than a crowded marketplace. Every element— from the choice of exhibitors to the layout of the venue—was planned to offer visitors a seamless, elevated shopping experience. The founders, a team of fashion entrepreneurs and lifestyle curators,
envisioned Panachee as a meeting point between tradition and modernity. By blending India’s rich artisanal heritage with contemporary design sensibilities, Panachee positioned itself as a platform that respects craftsmanship while embracing evolving fashion and lifestyle trends.
From a Single City to a South Indian Presence
What began as a Bengaluru-based initiative soon gained momentum. The exhibition’s emphasis on quality, originality, and thoughtful curation resonated strongly with audiences, encouraging Panachee to expand its footprint across South India.
Over time, editions were successfully hosted in major cities including Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kochi, each drawing a loyal and diverse audience. This regional expansion helped Panachee establish itself not just as an exhibition, but as a brand synonymous with premium lifestyle experiences. Its reputation grew steadily among fashion-conscious individuals, boutique owners, interior design enthusiasts, and families seeking meaningful, high-quality purchases. Today, Panachee is regarded as a key seasonal event, one that shoppers mark on their calendars well in advance.
Fashion at the Forefront
At the heart of Panachee lies its fashion curation. The exhibition showcases a wide spectrum of designer wear, catering to varied tastes and occasions. Visitors can explore traditional ethnic ensembles, festive and occasion wear, contemporary ready-towear collections, and fusion styles that blend Indian aesthetics with global influences.
A defining feature of Panachee is its balanced mix of established designers and emerging talents. This ensures not only credibility and consistency but also freshness and innovation. Many designers present exclusive collections or limited-edition pieces, making Panachee a destination for shoppers seeking originality and distinction—far removed from mass-produced retail offerings.
Jewellery and Accessories:
Complementing the fashion offerings is an extensive selection of jewellery and accessories. From handcrafted traditional jewellery rooted in regional techniques to modern, minimalist designs, Panachee offers options for every style preference. Shoppers can also discover curated collections of handbags, footwear, scarves, and statement accessories that complete and elevate their wardrobes.
The emphasis on design integrity and craftsmanship remains consistent across categories, reinforcing Panachee’s commitment to quality and authenticity.
Lifestyle and Home Décor: A Holistic Approach
Panachee’s appeal extends well beyond clothing and accessories. Recognizing that personal style is deeply connected to the spaces people inhabit, the exhibition integrates lifestyle and home décor into its curation. Artisan-crafted décor pieces, lighting solutions, home accents, and functional art objects are showcased alongside fashion, creating a comprehensive lifestyle destination.
This holistic approach allows visitors to reimagine both their wardrobes and living spaces in one visit. Whether searching for unique gifts, seasonal home updates, or distinctive design elements, shoppers find inspiration across categories.
Designed for Comfort and Discovery
One of Panachee’s most appreciated aspects is its focus on presentation and visitor comfort. Venues are selected and designed to offer spacious layouts, clear zoning, and visually engaging displays. This allows visitors to browse at leisure, interact with designers, and make informed purchasing decisions without the pressure or chaos often associated with large-scale exhibitions.
The atmosphere encourages meaningful engagement—between shoppers and creators, tradition and innovation, style and substance.
A Platform That Empowers Designers and Artisans
Beyond its appeal to shoppers, Panachee plays a significant role in supporting designers and artisans. For emerging talents, it offers a prestigious platform to showcase their work, gain visibility, and connect directly with customers. For established brands, it provides access to a discerning audience that values originality and craftsmanship.
By fostering these connections, Panachee contributes to sustaining India’s design ecosystem, encouraging creativity while supporting livelihoods rooted in traditional skills and contemporary entrepreneurship.
Who Panachee Is For
Panachee attracts a diverse audience united by a shared appreciation for quality and design. Fashion-forward individuals looking for seasonal trends, families seeking thoughtful purchases, boutique owners scouting new labels, and lifestyle enthusiasts exploring curated décor all find value in the exhibition. Its inclusive yet premium positioning makes it accessible without compromising on exclusivity.
What Sets Panachee Apart
In a crowded exhibition landscape, Panachee distinguishes itself through careful curation, consistency, and a strong sense of identity. Every edition reflects a commitment to offering visitors more than just products—it offers an experience. The ability to explore fashion, jewellery, accessories, and home décor under one roof adds convenience, while the emphasis on exclusivity ensures that each visit feels special.
Equally important is Panachee’s role in celebrating Indian design in a modern context. By presenting traditional craftsmanship alongside contemporary interpretations, it bridges generations and tastes, making heritage relevant to today’s lifestyle.
Looking Ahead
As Panachee continues to evolve, its core philosophy remains unchanged: to create a refined platform where creativity, craftsmanship, and curated living converge. With each edition, it reinforces its position as a trusted destination for those who seek quality, originality, and meaningful design experiences.
In a world of fast fashion and fleeting trends, Panachee stands as a reminder that thoughtful curation and authentic craftsmanship never go out of style.

This home in Bengaluru has a soul straight from Chikamagalur
Core Spaces shaped a tranquil nest that evokes the hills its owners once called home. Most designers will tell you it’s far easier to build a home from the ground up than from the ceiling down. But, for this home in Bengaluru, Mrunalini Neelamraju, Surenthar R, and Sanjana Ramesh didn’t do what most designers would. When the trio behind Bengaluru-based Core Spaces took on a bare-shell project in Basavanagudi—an old neighbourhood of crisscrossing bylanes and air scented with filter coffee—the first thing they did was look up.
To them, the monumental ceiling wasn’t a ceiling at all, but a vast upside-down canvas: a fifth wall demanding unconventional thinking above and, soon enough, a makeshift campsite below. “It’s one of our best memories,” says Neelamraju of the five-metre-wide dome that eventually crowned the space and became its soul. “What began as a poetic idea inspired by French parterres and the family’s life across Bengaluru, Chikmagalur and Australia quickly turned into a giant, intricate jigsaw puzzle that took over our lives.”
Sky Full Of Stars
On paper, it was magical: an otherworldly landscape of coffee plantations, terraced hills, rivers and farmlands, drawn painstakingly to scale so the composition and textures would fall into place. The team, which included in-house designers Gokul S, Sayooj K, and Vasanth R, and ceramic artist Varsha Chella, explored every imaginable technique—beadwork, appliqué, impasto, tufting—until the digital artwork felt almost transportive. The reality, of course, was far less romantic. “For two full days, us architects, the artists and the execution crew camped under the dome like a little on-site festival,” recalls Ramesh, one of the two project leads.
The artwork, originally a single hand-painted and embroidered textile sheet, had to be cut into eighteen slim, conical panels, each numbered and slotted into a precise sequence. Installation became a slow, meditative choreography: three people guiding each panel upwards, moving in one direction only so every joint disappeared and no shadow line gave the game away. Every gesture was measured; every adjustment counted in millimetres. “By the end, it genuinely felt like assembling the world’s most delicate, gravity-defying jigsaw puzzle. But the result—a seamless, fantastical landscape floating above the room—made every late night and every ‘wait, is this the right piece?’ moment entirely worth it,” laughs Surenthar, the other project lead.
A Tranquil Retreat
All that effort wasn’t without reason—nor without a clear vision. From the outset, homeowners Rakhee and Ravindra Mysore knew not only how they wanted the house to look, but how they wanted it to feel: warm, grounded, and evocative of the landscape that shaped them. As a fifthgeneration coffee planter who had spent as much time away from the Ghats as amidst them, Ravindra hoped for a home that could hold both worlds with grace.
“They imagined something beautiful, but still deeply connected to nature,” says Neelamraju of the residence, conceived as a landing pad for the family between India and Australia. That pursuit of resonance shaped not just the design but the vocabulary of the process itself. Even colours were measured against familiar terrain: “Does this feel like freshly turned coffee soil?” “Is this closer to sundried parchment?” Before long, the architects had adopted the same lexicon, and site meetings often sounded more like conversations about a landscape than a building. That shared language became the thread that quietly held the project together.
Home Is Where The Heart Is
Although their lives span continents, Rakhee and Ravindra’s sensibilities remain shaped by the cultural landscape they grew up in, and that balance—globally lived yet deeply rooted—defines the home in Bengaluru’s identity. The architecture leans towards calm minimalism, with soft tonal walls and clean geometry, while the interiors are anchored by lineage through collected art, handcrafted objects and heirloom-like pieces.
The architects were intentional in creating a balanced contrast between materials: the travertine that wraps the curving walls; the leather-finish beige marble floors that quietly anchor them without competing; the adjacent stucco-textured surfaces; and the carefully selected veneered doors that complete the palette. Although the travertine appears carved in a single sweep, that sense of effortlessness emerged from months spent sourcing the right slabs and slicing them into precise trapezoidal strips to follow the curves—meticulous work that relied on instinctive coordination between architects
and artisans.
The same journey-led ethos animated the rest of the home: a hand-carved granite basin shaped in Mahabalipuram; a monolithic marble sink coaxed into form in Udaipur; a bronze artwork cast in Chidambaram; bespoke furniture refined across Pondicherry workshops; and quieter rituals, like studying embroidery swatches for the dome ceiling—beads and threads arranged like artefacts awaiting their place. In the end, the true undertaking wasn’t scale but commitment: doing things the right way, however long it took, so that every workshop visit, prototype and late-night discussion became part of the home’s fabric. It is this that gives the space its quiet power—a place not assembled, but crafted through journey, collaboration, material and devotion.

LUMINÉVE REDEFINING PRESTIGE
NIGHTTIME SKINCARE
December 2025 marks the launch of Luminéve, a luxury skincare brand redefining how we approach nighttime skin care. Unlike traditional lines that often focus on daytime hydration or broad skincare routines, Luminéve emphasizes the skin’s natural nocturnal repair cycle, creating products designed to maximize absorption, restoration, and renewal while we sleep. The brand has quickly captured attention among skincare enthusiasts and luxury beauty aficionados, especially in urban centers like Bengaluru, where premium beauty and wellness trends are embraced eagerly. Luminéve represents a perfect blend of science, innovation, and elegance, making it a must-have for those seeking effective winter skincare and indulgent self-care rituals during the holiday season.
The launch is timely: winter months are particularly harsh on the skin, with dryness, dullness, and sensitivity becoming common challenges. Luminéve steps in with science-backed solutions, combining advanced formulations with luxurious textures and spa-like experiences, making it more than a routine — it is a nighttime ritual of rejuvenation.
Why Luminéve Stands Out
Luminéve distinguishes itself through innovation, premium positioning, and dermatologist-inspired formulations. The brand focuses exclusively on nighttime care, harnessing the skin’s circadian rhythm to enhance regeneration and absorption. This concept is revolutionary in the Indian market, where most new launches emphasize morning routines or generalized skin health. By concentrating on night repair, Luminéve offers a more targeted and effective solution for urban skin exposed to pollution, stress, and seasonal changes. The brand’s approach is highly science-driven, integrating the latest in cosmetic dermatology with advanced ingredients such as niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, peptides, and botanical extracts. Each product is formulated to not just treat surfacelevel concerns but to actively boost skin resilience, repair barrier functions, and enhance natural radiance, making it an essential addition to winter skincare routines. Moreover, the luxurious textures and high-end packaging elevate the experience, making skincare feel indulgent, sophisticated, and exclusive.
Flagship Products of the Launch
The Luminéve December 2025 launch features a range of premium nighttime products, each designed to address specific skin concerns while complementing one another for a complete nighttime routine.
Luminéve Night Repair Serum: This highpotency serum is formulated to target skin renewal while you sleep. Infused with hyaluronic acid and peptides, it deeply hydrates and plumps the skin, reducing signs of fatigue and promoting a fresh, revitalized complexion by morning. Its silky texture ensures effortless absorption and a luxurious feel on the skin.
Luminéve Overnight Hydration Cream: Designed to lock in moisture throughout the night, this cream provides intense hydration and strengthens the skin barrier, helping to combat dryness and irritation common during winter months. Its rich formulation ensures that skin wakes up soft, supple, and glowing.
Luminéve Night Eye Renewal Gel: Eyes are often the first area to show signs of stress and aging. This gel targets puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines with a lightweight yet powerful formulation that works while you sleep, providing a refreshed, youthful look each morning.
Luminéve Nighttime Barrier Booster: This treatment focuses on strengthening the skin’s protective barrier. By repairing microdamage caused by environmental stressors and promoting resilience, it ensures the skin stays healthy, hydrated, and radiant even in harsh winter conditions.
Together, these products form a cohesive nighttime regimen that addresses hydration, repair, radiance, and resilience, reflecting the brand’s commitment to effective, science-led luxury skincare.
The Science Behind Luminéve
What sets Luminéve apart is its deep integration of dermatological science and understanding of the skin’s circadian rhythms. During the night, skin cells are more active, performing critical repair functions. Luminéve’s formulations are timed to complement this natural process, ensuring that active ingredients penetrate efficiently and work in sync with the skin’s biological clock. Ingredients are meticulously selected
for both efficacy and compatibility. Niacinamide improves skin tone and barrier function, peptides support elasticity and firmness, and hyaluronic acid ensures hydration retention. Botanicals provide soothing and antioxidant benefits, helping the skin repair damage caused by pollution, UV exposure, and lifestyle stressors. This science-first approach, combined with luxurious textures and application rituals, positions Luminéve as a leading-edge skincare brand in India’s prestige segment.
Luxury Packaging and Holiday Appeal
In addition to efficacy, Luminéve places significant emphasis on luxury presentation. Each product is housed in sleek, elegant packaging that conveys sophistication and modernity. The design philosophy marries minimalism with opulence, creating an aesthetic that appeals to premium consumers who value both function and style. December launches often coincide with the holiday season, and Luminéve has capitalized on this by offering festive packaging, making the products ideal for gifting.

HEALTHCARE KARNATAKA
In a quiet operating theatre where precision, patience, and hope converge, Royal Care Super Speciality Hospital scripted a powerful medical milestone— one that stands as a testament to how far modern medicine, teamwork, and human resilience can go together. The hospital recently performed a rare and high-risk liver transplant on a 65-year-old woman, a procedure that many would consider daunting even in younger patients. For the medical team at Royal Care, it was not just another surgery—it was a carefully orchestrated mission to give a woman a second chance at life.
DR. K. MADESWARAN Chairman & Managing Director M/s. Royalcare International Hospitals Group
This remarkable achievement places Royal Care among a select group of centres capable of undertaking complex liver transplants in elderly patients, where age, co-morbidities, and physiological challenges significantly raise the stakes. More importantly, it reinforces a simple but powerful message: age alone is no longer a barrier to advanced, life-saving care.
A Patient at the Crossroads
The patient, a 65-year-old woman, had been battling end-stage liver disease for several years. What began as manageable liver dysfunction gradually progressed into a life-threatening condition. Frequent hospital admissions, fatigue, jaundice, fluid accumulation, and declining quality of life had become part of her daily reality.
By the time she was referred to Royal Care, her condition had reached a critical stage. Medical evaluations revealed that her liver could no longer sustain essential bodily functions. Conservative treatment options had been exhausted. A liver transplant was the only definitive solution—but it came with formidable risks.
Elderly transplant candidates often present a complex clinical picture. Age-related decline in organ reserve, co-existing conditions such as diabetes or hypertension, and a reduced ability to recover from major surgery all contribute to increased risk. For many centres, such cases are considered borderline or even unsuitable for transplantation.
Yet, for the multidisciplinary transplant team at Royal Care, the focus was not solely on age, but on biological fitness, meticulous evaluation, and individualised care planning.
The Decision That Changed Everything
The decision to proceed with the transplant was not taken lightly. Over multiple consultations, hepatologists, transplant surgeons, anesthesiologists, cardiologists, pulmonologists, nephrologists, and critical care specialists came together to assess every aspect of the patient’s health.
Advanced diagnostic tools were used to evaluate cardiac function, pulmonary reserve, kidney health, nutritional status, and overall surgical fitness. Each risk was weighed carefully against the potential benefits. The patient and her family were counselled extensively—not just about the procedure, but about the journey that lay ahead, including the challenges of recovery and lifelong follow-up.
After thorough deliberation, the transplant committee reached a unanimous conclusion: the patient was a suitable candidate, provided the surgery was executed with exceptional precision and supported by comprehensive perioperative care.
It was a moment of cautious optimism— one that demanded absolute commitment from every member of the medical team.
Inside a High-Risk, High-Precision Surgery
Liver transplantation is among the most complex procedures in modern medicine. In elderly patients, the challenge intensifies. The surgery involves removing the diseased liver and replacing it with a healthy donor organ—while managing massive blood flow shifts, maintaining hemodynamic stability, and preventing complications.
The transplant surgery at Royal Care extended over several intense hours. Every step required seamless coordination between surgeons and anesthesiologists. Blood loss was meticulously controlled, and realtime monitoring ensured vital parameters remained stable throughout the procedure.
What made this transplant particularly challenging was the patient’s fragile physiological reserve. Even minor fluctuations in blood pressure or oxygen levels could have serious consequences. The anesthesiology team employed advanced monitoring systems and tailored anesthesia protocols to suit the patient’s condition.
Against these odds, the surgery was completed successfully—a moment that brought collective relief and quiet satisfaction to the operating theatre.
The Critical Hours That Followed
In liver transplantation, the surgery is only half the battle. The immediate post-operative period is often the most critical, especially for elderly recipients. The patient was shifted to a dedicated transplant intensive care unit, where she remained under round-the-clock observation.
A highly trained ICU team closely monitored liver function, kidney output, coagulation parameters, and signs of infection or rejection. Immunosuppressive therapy was initiated with extreme caution, balancing the need to prevent rejection while minimising side effects.
The first 72 hours were tense but encouraging. Gradually, laboratory values began to stabilise, liver function improved, and the patient showed signs of recovery. Each small milestone—extubation, the first steps of mobilisation, the return of appetite—was celebrated quietly, knowing how hard-earned they were.
A Multidisciplinary Effort Beyond the Operating Room
What truly sets Royal Care’s transplant programme apart is its holistic, multidisciplinary approach. Beyond surgeons and physicians, dietitians, physiotherapists, transplant coordinators, nurses, and counsellors played a pivotal role in the patient’s recovery.
Nutritional rehabilitation was tailored to support liver regeneration and overall strength. Physiotherapy focused on gradual mobilisation, preventing muscle loss, and improving respiratory function. Psychological support helped the patient cope with the emotional and mental demands of such a life-altering procedure.
This integrated care model ensured that recovery was not just about survival, but about restoring dignity, independence, and quality of life.
Redefining Age in Advanced Medical Care
Traditionally, advanced age has been viewed as a limiting factor in organ transplantation. However, evolving medical evidence and improved surgical techniques are challenging these assumptions. The success of this transplant underscores a growing shift— from chronological age to physiological suitability.
Royal Care’s achievement sends a powerful message to patients and families who often feel that options narrow with age. With the right expertise, infrastructure, and patient selection, even high-risk procedures can be performed safely and successfully.
This case also highlights the importance of early referral and comprehensive evaluation. Many elderly patients may never be considered for transplant simply because of age-based bias. Breaking this barrier requires not just medical skill, but also a progressive mindset.
A Story of Hope for Countless Families
For the patient and her family, the transplant was nothing short of transformative. From a life overshadowed by illness and uncertainty, she now looks ahead with renewed hope. Simple pleasures— walking unaided, sharing meals, spending time with loved ones—have taken on new meaning. Her recovery continues under careful medical supervision, with regular follow-ups and lifestyle guidance. While the journey ahead includes lifelong medication and monitoring, it is a journey filled with possibility rather than limitation.
Royal Care’s Growing Legacy in Transplant Excellence
This high-risk liver transplant adds another chapter to Royal Care Hospital’s growing reputation as a centre of excellence in advanced and super-speciality care. Equipped with state-ofthe-art infrastructure, cutting-edge technology, and a team of highly experienced clinicians, the hospital has consistently pushed the boundaries of what is possible in patient care.
More than numbers or milestones, it is stories like these—where science meets compassion—that define the institution’s ethos. Each successful transplant reflects countless hours of preparation, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to patient welfare.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Transplant Medicine
As medical science continues to evolve, the definition of eligibility for complex procedures like liver transplantation is expanding. Improved immunosuppressive therapies, enhanced surgical techniques, and better critical care have dramatically improved outcomes, even in high-risk populations.
Royal Care’s success serves as both inspiration and responsibility—to continue advancing transplant medicine while keeping patient-centred care at its core.It also opens doors for further research, training, and awareness, ensuring that more patients are evaluated based on potential rather than prejudice.
A Triumph of Skill, Science, and Humanity
In the end, this was not just a story about a rare liver transplant. It was a story about courage—of a patient who chose hope over fear, and of a medical team that chose innovation over hesitation. It was about collaboration, trust, and the belief that every life, regardless of age, deserves the best chance possible.
By performing this rare, high-risk liver transplant on a 65-year-old woman, Royal Care Hospital has done more than save a life—it has redefined what is possible, reminding us all that in the hands of dedicated professionals, medicine can truly work miracles.

With an overall length of around 2,100 mm and a seat height of 790 mm, the X440T offers a low center of gravity, enhancing stability in traffic-heavy conditions.
Engine and Performance
The X440T is powered by a single-cylinder, 440 cc liquid-cooled engine, engineered for a balance of power and fuel efficiency. Delivering approximately 40 hp at 8,500 rpm and 38 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm, the bike is nimble in city traffic while offering sufficient power for highway cruising.
Harley has paired the engine with a 6-speed gearbox, ensuring smooth acceleration, responsive gear shifts, and reduced vibration at higher speeds a hallmark of Harley’s engineering quality. The fuel system uses electronic fuel injection, contributing to better mileage and cleaner emissions. Expected mileage ranges around 35–40 km/l, making the X440T competitive in the mid-weight commuter segment. The suspension setup includes telescopic front forks and dual rear shock absorbers, tuned for a balance of comfort and handling precision. Stopping power comes from disc brakes on both wheels with ABS, offering safety and control critical for Indian road conditions.
Features and Technology
The X440T is loaded with modern features, making it more than a conventional Harley.
• Digital Instrument Cluster: A fully digital display shows speed, rpm, fuel level, trip meter, gear position, and real-time mileage.
• LED Lighting System: Both headlamps and indicators use LEDs for better illumination and lower power consumption.
• Smart Connectivity: Optional Bluetooth connectivity allows riders to pair their smartphones, receive call notifications, and navigate using turnby-turn directions.
• Rider Comfort Features: Ergonomic seat design, handlebar adjustments, and footpeg positioning contribute to fatigue-free riding over longer distances.
• Safety and Control: Traction control and ABS ensure stability on wet or uneven surfaces, catering to Indian urban and semi-urban conditions. This integration of modern technology in a midweight Harley is aimed at urban riders who value both style and function.
Target Audience and Market Strategy
The X440T targets a younger demographic compared to Harley’s traditional cruisers:
Urban Professionals: Riders who want a stylish motorcycle for commuting and weekend rides without the bulk of a heavyweight bike.
Motorcycle Enthusiasts: Those who want a premium, iconic brand experience in a manageable and cost-effective package.
First-Time Harley Buyers: Individuals seeking the Harley experience but with affordable entry price and easier handling.
With an expected ex-showroom price around RS.2.79 lakh, the X440T is positioned as a premium yet attainable mid-weight motorcycle — bridging the gap between commuter bikes and luxury cruisers.
This strategic positioning allows Harley-Davidson to expand market reach in India, tapping into urban centers like Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, and semi-urban towns where mid-weight motorcycles are highly practical.
Competition and Segment Outlook
The X440T enters a competitive mid-weight motorcycle segment in India, facing rivals such as KTM Duke 390, Bajaj Dominar 400, Yamaha R3, and Honda CB500X. While competitors offer performance-oriented engines, the X440T differentiates itself through:
• Brand Heritage: HarleyDavidson’s iconic styling and brand prestige.
• Riding Comfort: Ergonomically designed for daily commuting and occasional touring.
• Modern Features: Digital displays, connectivity, and safety features tuned for Indian roads.
By balancing these elements, HarleyDavidson positions the X440T not just as a performance motorcycle but as a lifestyle choice — blending style, practicality, and brand loyalty.
Impact on HarleyDavidson India
The launch of the X440T signifies Harley’s strategic recalibration in India. Historically dependent on heavyweight cruiser models, the brand now recognizes market realities: a large portion of Indian riders prefers lighter, more affordable motorcycles that are versatile for city and highway use. The X440T could broaden Harley’s customer base, attract younger riders, and increase dealership footfall in tier-1 and tier-2 cities. Additionally, it sets the stage for future mid-weight and electric Harley models, reinforcing the brand’s relevance in India’s evolving motorcycle market.

Challenges and Considerations
Despite its advantages, the X440T faces some challenges:
• Market Acceptance: Indian riders accustomed to KTM, Bajaj, and Honda offerings may take time to warm up to Harley’s mid-weight bike.
• Service Network: Harley’s premium positioning means fewer service centers than mainstream brands, which could impact maintenance convenience in smaller cities.
• Price Sensitivity: At RS.2.79 lakh, it is higher than many mid-weight competitors, so buyers must be convinced of brand value and performance.
Addressing these challenges will be critical for Harley’s success in expanding beyond traditional cruiser buyers.
The Road Ahead
The Harley-Davidson X440T represents a significant shift in the brand’s Indian strategy, blending tradition with modern practicality. Its arrival demonstrates Harley’s commitment to adapting to local market needs, without compromising on the iconic design, riding experience, or premium feel. For riders in Karnataka and other Indian states, the X440T promises an accessible, stylish, and versatile motorcycle — ideal for urban commuting, weekend adventures, and the Harley experience in a manageable package. Looking ahead, the X440T could serve as a gateway Harley for first-time buyers, eventually leading to interest in larger cruiser models, limited editions, and possibly future electric bikes. Harley-Davidson’s ability to balance brand heritage with practicality will likely determine the X440T’s long-term success in India’s mid-weight motorcycle market. In essence, the X440T isn’t just a motorcycle — it’s a statement of intent, signalling Harley-Davidson’s evolving vision: to make the legendary Harley experience reachable, relevant, and rewarding for a new generation of Indian riders.

CULTURE & TRADITIONS OF KARNATAKA
BHOOTHA ARADHANE The Spirit Dance Of Coastal Karnataka
Bhootha Aradhane, also known as Bhoota Kola or Daiva Aradhane, is among the most evocative cultural practices of Karnataka. Rooted in the coastal Tulu Nadu region—particularly the districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi—this centuries-old ritual seamlessly blends dance, music, mythology, and devotion. Unlike many traditions that fade with time, Bhootha Aradhane has endured, adapting to changing eras while retaining its spiritual core. It is not merely a performance but a living bridge between the human and the divine.
Guardians of the Land – The Bhootas
In the Bhootha Aradhane tradition, Bhootas are revered guardian spirits. Some are associated with nature, animals, or elemental forces, while others are legendary human heroes who, after death, were elevated to divine protectors of their communities. Each Bhoota carries a distinct identity and mythology, preserved through oral ballads known as “paddanas”, sung in the Tulu language and passed down across generations. The ritual is invoked when communities seek blessings for health, fertility of the land, protection, or harmony. Devotees believe that Bhootas actively watch over villages, resolve conflicts, and guide moral conduct, making the ceremony both spiritually profound and socially relevant.
The Ritual – Preparation and Invocation
The ritual begins long before the public performance. A “Daivasthana” (spirit shrine) or a specially consecrated space is prepared using banana leaves, coconut fronds, and natural materials that symbolize purity and connection to the earth. The performer, traditionally from specific hereditary communities and known as the “Patri” or “Pambada”, undergoes hours of intense preparation.
This includes a ceremonial bath and oiling of the body to cleanse and energize the self, followed by the application of elaborate face paint and the donning of a towering headdress. Traditional garments made of silk or palm leaves, along with bells and anklets known as “gaggara”, complete the transformation— each element carrying sym-bolic meaning tied to the spirit being invoked. Simultaneously, women from the community sing “paddanas”, narrating the Bhoota’s origins, heroic deeds, and divine powers. The rhythmic singing, combined with mounting anticipation, draws the entire village into a shared sacred experience.
The Performance – Possession
and Oracular Power
As drums, trumpets, and percussion instruments intensify, the performer enters a trance-like state. His movements become vigorous and commanding, with powerful stomps resonating through the ground, believed to signal the arrival of the Bhoota. In this possessed state, the per-former is no longer seen as human. Devotees believe the Bhoota speaks through him—listening to grievances, settling disputes, offering moral counsel, and granting blessings.
Certain rituals involve awe-inspiring acts such as walking over burning embers, symbolizing the spir-it’s protective strength and divine authority. The audience does not merely observe a dance; they witness a sacred convergence where the boundaries between the earthly and the divine dissolve. When the ritual concludes, the communi-ty emerges spiritually renewed, assured that balance and harmony have been restored.
Cultural, Social, and Spiritual Significance
Bhootha Aradhane serves as a vital preserver of heritage, safeguarding centuries-old oral tradi-tions, songs, and myths that form the cultural memory of Tulu Nadu. It also fosters strong commu-nity cohesion by acting as a platform for dialogue, mediation, and collective participation, often empowering marginalized voices within the social structure. Spiritually, the Bhootas are regarded as guardians of health, agriculture, and land. Participation in the ritual reinforces faith, instils hope, and offers emotional reassurance. Artistically, the vivid colours, dramatic costumes, pulsating mu-sic, and trance-driven movements create a spectacle that is both visually arresting and deeply mov-ing, blending sacred devotion with theatrical intensity.
Where and when to Experience Bhootha Aradhane
The ritual is primarily observed in villages across the coastal Tulu Nadu region, especially in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Dates vary according to village calendars, ancestral anniversaries, and local customs. While visitors may witness the ritual, it is essential to approach it with sensitivity, re-spect, and an understanding of its sacred nature. In an era shaped by rapid urbanization and digital life, Bhootha Aradhane stands as a powerful reminder of enduring faith and cultural identity.
It preserves ancient narratives, strengthens communal bonds, and provides spiritual grounding in uncertain times. More than a visual spectacle, it embodies Karnataka’s living heritage—affirming that culture is not merely remembered, but actively lived, experienced, and passed on. Bhootha Aradhane is more than a ritual; it is a dance of faith, a performance of devotion, and a living chroni-cle of Karnataka’s rich cultural soul.
Karnataka unveils a ₹1,260 Cr roadmap for coastal tourism. Discover “Brand Karavali,” new CRZ reforms, and the launch of the revamped tourism website.
The Government of Karnataka has marked a decisive turning point for the state’s coastal economy, unveiling a comprehensive roadmap to transform the region into a world-class tourism destination. The “Coastal Karnataka Tourism Conclave,” held on January 10, 2026, at Hotel Avatar & Convention in Mangaluru, witnessed an unprecedented gathering of the state’s highest leadership to unlock the tourism potential of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada.
Uniting for Economic Transformation
The event brought together a high-level delegation led by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Siddaramaiah and Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri D.K. Shivakumar, alongside Hon’ble Minister for Tourism Shri H.K. Patil and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Shri U.T. Khader. They were joined by District In-Charge Ministers and legislators from the coastal belt. The Conclave underscored the government’s determination to turn the 320-kilometer coastline into an engine of economic growth. This commitment was solidified with the execution of MoUs for 31 tourism projects across the three coastal districts, representing an estimated investment of INR 1,260 Crores. Furthermore, the Department of Tourism highlighted that since June 2023, approvals have been accorded for 45 tourism projects, attracting over INR 718 Crore in investments and adding more than 1,500 highquality rooms.
Chief Minister Shri Siddaramaiah emphasized the human impact, stating, “Today is not just about signing papers; it is about creating livelihoods. The investments pledged today will translate into thousands of jobs for our local youth. We are committed to a model of development where the fisherman, the homestay owner, and the auto driver are partners in growth”.
Breaking Bottlenecks: CRZ & Infrastructure
A central theme of the deliberations was the regulatory framework, specifically the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms, often cited by investors as a bottleneck. The government assured stakeholders of a streamlined, transparent approach, noting significant scope for seeking amendments to the CRZ notification.
Addressing the investors, Deputy Chief Minister Shri D.K. Shivakumar stated, “The days of running from pillar to post are over. We are establishing singlewindow mechanisms for tourism projects to ensure timebound approvals. We are also creating a Tourism Land Bank to offer investors ready-to-develop parcels”.
A Distinct Identity: “Brand Karavali”
Connectivity was identified as the backbone of this transformation, with leaders discussing a multimodal strategy. Priorities include the upgradation of Mangaluru International Airport to attract direct international flights and the development of a dedicated coastal road corridor with scenic beach-side roads.
The conclave moved away from a “cut-and-paste” development model. Hon’ble Minister for Health and Dakshina Kannada District In-Charge, Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, asserted, “We don’t have to follow the model of Goa or Kerala. We can create our own model”. The strategy involves creating Special Tourism Zones anchored by major units to prevent haphazard construction.
The event also shone a spotlight on niche tourism, including surfing, scuba diving, and cruises, highlighting destinations like Sasihithlu, Nethrani, and Dandeli. Tourism Minister Shri H.K. Patil noted, “We have the product, now we need the packaging,” emphasizing the need for strategic marketing to define “Brand Karavali”.
During the event, the Department and Hon’ble Ministers officially launched the revamped Karnataka Tourism website (Karnatakatourism.org). The initiative received a positive response, with the dignitaries appreciating the platform as a significant step forward in modernizing the state’s tourism outreach.
The Coastal Tourism Conclave 2026 has set a new benchmark for governmentindustry collaboration in Karnataka. With high-level political will, substantial financial commitments, and a focus on regulatory reform, the state is poised to unlock the full potential of its coast. As the government invites the world to experience the unique culture and nature of the region, the clear message remains: Karnataka is ready to facilitate those with the will to invest.

Dhruva Sarja, one of Kannada cinema’s most dynamic actors, continues to captivate audiences with his charisma, versatility, and evolving screen presence. Known primarily for his action-packed roles, 2025 has been a year of strategic choices and creative exploration for the actor. October, in particular, stands out as a month of opportunity, anticipation, and forwardlooking developments — a period that hints at a promising trajectory for Sarja’s career. His growing reputation as a performer who balances mass appeal with experimentation has positioned him as a defining figure of the next generation of Kannada cinema.
New Collaborations: The Kiranraj Project
One of the most exciting highlights of October 2025 was Dhruva Sarja’s reported collaboration with celebrated director Kiranraj, best known for the blockbuster 777 Charlie. The project is described as a genre-bending thriller, signaling Dhruva’s willingness to step beyond his established action-hero image and explore new storytelling spaces. Industry insiders view this collaboration as a calculated career move designed to diversify his portfolio, connect with broader audiences, and showcase his adaptability as an actor. Though still in early stages, with production likely beginning in late 2026, the announcement itself has already generated strong media buzz and fan excitement. As one senior film critic from Bangalore remarked, “This could be a defining moment in Dhruva Sarja’s career, showing that he is more than just an action star — he is an actor willing to take creative risks.”
KD: The Devil — Delay Builds Buzz
Another major October development was the strategic rescheduling of Dhruva’s Pan-Indian film KD: The Devil, now expected to release in 2026. The delay has been positioned positively, allowing the production team additional time to perfect post-production, visual effects, and editing, ensuring a high-quality cinematic experience. By avoiding competition with other major releases, the postponement also provides the film greater box-office breathing room. Rather than dampening enthusiasm, the delay has heightened fan anticipation, keeping Dhruva actively discussed across social media, entertainment portals, and film forums. As a popular entertainment columnist observed, “Fans are eagerly waiting. This anticipation is like fuel for the actor’s next release, making the eventual premiere even more impactful.”
Visibility and Industry Buzz
Despite the absence of a new theatrical release in October, Dhruva Sarja maintained continuous visibility in media and public discourse. Rumors
regarding upcoming projects, collaborations, and production updates ensured he remained a central topic among audiences and producers. Frequent features in entertainment portals, interviews, and fan interactions reinforced his brand image as one of Kannada cinema’s most bankable young stars. This consistent presence has effectively sustained momentum ahead of his future releases, ensuring that audience engagement never wanes even during quieter release periods.
Positive Career Implications
October 2025 demonstrates several encouraging trends in Dhruva Sarja’s career evolution. His exploration of genre-bending roles signals creative expansion and a willingness to move beyond predictable action templates. Strategic decision-making — from delayed releases to selective collaborations — reflects careful market awareness and long-term planning. Continued audience engagement through sustained media coverage and fan enthusiasm preserves visibility without reliance on immediate releases. Moreover, his alignment with directors known for large-scale cinema positions him for panIndian recognition beyond Karnataka, marking a significant step toward national stardom.
Visual and Feature Ideas for Magazine Layout
For a premium magazine feature, visual storytelling opportunities can significantly enhance reader engagement. Portraits of Dhruva Sarja in both casual and formal styles can highlight his charisma and fashion sensibility. On-set imagery from KD: The Devil or future projects would provide behind-the-scenes authenticity. Fan interaction shots capturing organized meet-ups could emphasize his connection with audiences.
Conceptual visuals, mood boards, or teaser art representing upcoming collaborations can offer creative insight into future projects. Additionally, lifestyle features focusing on fashion, fitness, and wellness can reflect Dhruva’s off-screen personality and discipline.
October as a Launchpad
While October 2025 did not witness a major release from Dhruva Sarja, it has emerged as a month of momentum and strategic positioning. New collaborations with acclaimed directors signal creative opportunities, while delayed releases have amplified anticipation and maintained relevance. Through deliberate career planning, Dhruva continues shaping his professional narrative, demonstrating that Kannada cinema’s action star is preparing for a more versatile and pan-Indian future. As observers note, October 2025 reflects an actor in transition — ready to embrace opportunity,
experiment with creativity, and consolidate his standing as a leading force in South Indian cinema. In essence, “Dhruva Sarja is not just acting; he is building a legacy. October 2025 is one milestone in a journey promising creativity, success, and continued audience admiration.”

Young actors look up to him for discipline, strategic planning, and innovative role choices. Many of his films emphasize regional heritage and contemporary narratives, supporting both cultural preservation and modernization within Kannada storytelling.
Visual Storytelling Opportunities

Portrait and lifestyle shoots showcasing fitness, fashion, and candid moments reveal his off-screen persona. Fan-engagement visuals highlight his strong audience connection. Creative concept art representing genre-bending projects offers readers a glimpse into From Legacy to Future.

Rooted in a cinematic legacy, he has carefully shaped his present through project selection, media presence, and genre exploration. ROYAL HERITAGE & ARCHITECTURE OF KARNATAKA
LAKKUNDI KARNATAKA’S FORGOTTEN JEWEL OF HERITAGE
Nestled in the quiet landscapes of Gadag district, Lakkundi is a treasure that time almost forgot. A village that once flourished under the Western Chalukyas between the 10th and 12th centuries CE, Lakkundi is today emerging as a cultural gem, a repository of exquisite architecture, art, and history. With a recent push for heritage preservation and a bid for UNESCO World Heritage recognition, this town is slowly reclaiming its rightful place on India’s heritage map.
A Town Steeped in History
Lakkundi, historically referred to as Lokki Gundi, was more than a religious center. Archaeological surveys reveal over fifty temples and more than a hundred intricately designed stepwells. These structures were not only spiritual centers but also a part of a well-planned civic settlement. From marketplaces and water management systems
Kasivisvesvara Temple
to inscriptions documenting trade and donations, Lakkundi was a thriving medieval township. The town’s religious diversity is remarkable. Hindu temples such as the Kasi Vishvesvara Temple, with its twin sanctums and elaborately carved pillars, stand alongside Jain shrines like the Brahma Jinalaya, reflecting centuries of religious coexistence. The blend of faiths, artistry, and civic planning makes Lakkundi a rare example of medieval urban sophistication in Karnataka.
sanctums, detailed pillars, and sculpted ceilings illustrate the zenith of medieval stone artistry. The Brahma Jinalaya, built around 1007 CE by the patroness Attimabbe, stands as a monument to Jain architectural elegance, with finely carved pillars and sacred motifs. Stepwells, known locally as kalyanis, were functional marvels serving ritual, social, and water storage purposes. With symmetrical staircases and ornate carvings, they reflect a sophisticated understanding of engineering, aesthetics, and community life.
Decline and Rediscovery
Over centuries, Lakkundi experienced decline. Political upheavals and neglect led to the abandonment of temples and civic structures. Some temples were repurposed as dwellings, and many stepwells fell into disrepair. By the early 20th century, several monuments were described as “deserted” or “occupied by bats.”
Yet, beneath the silence, the stones preserved history. Rediscovery efforts in recent decades have brought Lakkundi back into focus.
Archaeologists, historians, and heritage activists began documenting temples, stepwells, inscriptions, and sculptures, revealing the town’s significance anew.
Modern Revival Efforts
In 2024–2025, a major heritage initiative was launched to preserve Lakkundi’s legacy.
Locals, volunteers, and government authorities collected artifacts, coins, and sculptures scattered across the village.
Hundreds of relics and inscriptions were recovered, cataloged, and prepared for display in a proposed open-air museum. Restoration of key monuments is underway, guided by historical accuracy and archaeological research. A major highlight of these efforts is Karnataka’s attempt to place Lakkundi on UNESCO’s tentative list. If successful, it would join the ranks of Pattadakal, marking Lakkundi as an international heritage site and opening avenues for cultural tourism, research, and local economic revival.
Why Lakkundi Matters Today
Lakkundi is a living testament to the sophistication of medieval Karnataka. Its temples, stepwells, and inscriptions tell stories of devotion, civic planning, and social harmony. The site exemplifies architectural evolution, bridging early Chalukya and later Hoysala styles. Religious coexistence is evident in the close proximity of Hindu and Jain temples, reflecting a pluralistic society. The stepwells demonstrate sustainable water management, while inscriptions offer insights into trade, governance, and cultural practices.
Modern recognition of Lakkundi will not only preserve these treasures but also inspire heritagebased tourism, revive local crafts, and provide a cultural anchor for Karnataka’s identity.
Challenges and the Way Forward
Preserving Lakkundi is not without challenges. Restoration must balance authenticity and reconstruction, protecting monuments without altering their historical essence. Sustainable maintenance is required to prevent weathering,
vandalism, and unregulated tourism. Community engagement is vital. Some temple ruins had been converted into dwellings, raising sensitive questions about relocation and livelihoods. Scholars must continue studying inscriptions, architecture, and relics to ensure comprehensive documentation and conservation. Heritage tourism, when managed responsibly, can support both preservation and local communities. Guided tours, visitor education, and controlled access to fragile sites are essential for safeguarding Lakkundi for future generations.
A Legacy Reclaimed
Lakkundi is more than a collection of monuments; it is a bridge between past and present. Every pillar, sculpture, and stepwell tells a story of faith, artistry, and human ingenuity. Its revival signals a broader vision for Karnataka — one that celebrates not just famous sites but also forgotten villages that shaped history. As restoration continues and UNESCO recognition moves closer, Lakkundi promises to shine once more — a beacon of cultural pride and a living museum of Karnataka’s medieval heritage. “Lakkundi is a stone-book of medieval Karnataka; every pillar, well, and carving a page of history waiting to be read.” In a world rushing forward, Lakkundi reminds us to pause, listen, and marvel at the legacies etched in stone — treasures that endure, inspire, and tell the timeless story of human creativity.
SPORTS & YOUTH WELFARE OF KARNATAKA
KSCA MEETS KARNATAKA GOVERNMENT
A TURNING POINT THAT SECURED IPL’S FUTURE AT CHINNASWAMY STADIUM
ADefining December Moment for Karnataka’s Sporting Identity December 2025 will be remembered as a milestone month in Karnataka’s sporting history—one that reinforced the state’s position as a powerhouse for cricket and solidified the future of international fixtures and the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Bengaluru. A high-stakes meeting between the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) leadership and the state’s Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister set the stage for renewed cooperation, infrastructural modernization, and long-term planning to secure Chinnaswamy Stadium’s legacy as one of India’s most beloved cricket venues. Beyond a typical administrative interaction, the meeting symbolized unity, collaboration, and a shared commitment to safeguarding the state’s sporting pride.
The Importance of Chinnaswamy Stadium—A Cultural and Sporting Symbol
The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is not just a venue with seats, floodlights, and cheering fans—it is a cultural landmark that defines Karnataka’s relationship with cricket. From hosting iconic Test matches and explosive T20 contests, to being the home ground of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the stadium sits at the heart of the state’s sporting ecosystem. Generations of fans have grown up celebrating victories, enduring heartbreaks, and watching legends rise on this turf. Therefore, any uncertainty regarding its ability to host IPL matches or international fixtures naturally sparked widespread concern and emotional reaction. This December meeting came at a time when questions were rising about the venue’s structural safety, crowd management systems, and modernization needs. Public sentiment was clear: Chinnaswamy must never lose its place in the cricketing calendar. The government’s willingness to address these concerns reinforced their understanding of the stadium’s deep cultural significance.
Why the Meeting Was Necessary— Concerns Leading Up to
December
The months leading to December witnessed a wave of safety-related discussions across India, triggered by crowd incidents and concerns over ageing stadium structures. Chinnaswamy, despite its iconic reputation, is several decades old, and requires ongoing upgrades to match global standards. Additionally, IPL’s popularity has grown exponentially, demanding better entry–exit planning, improved crowd flow, increased emergency protocols, and advanced surveillance systems.
There were also logistical challenges—traffic congestion, metro connectivity limitations, and the need for more efficient public access routes during match days. With these issues escalating, the KSCA recognized the necessity for a united front with the government to ensure Bengaluru remained an unquestionable host city for marquee cricket events.
A Meeting That Set a Powerful Tone for the Future
The December meeting brought together some of the most influential figures in Karnataka’s cricket administration and political leadership. What made the interaction historic was not the formality, but the clarity and mutual respect displayed. The KSCA presented its vision for modernizing cricket infrastructure, while the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister expressed strong support for preserving Bengaluru’s status as an international cricket destination. Government representatives acknowledged the need for immediate and long-term solutions, while KSCA highlighted its commitment to upgrading facilities, ensuring structural safety, and enhancing fan experience. Both sides recognized that cricket is more than recreation—it is an asset that drives tourism, culture, employment, and economic activity.
Reassurance That IPL Will NOT Leave Bengaluru
One of the most important outcomes of the meeting— and perhaps the most comforting for fans—was the categorical assurance that IPL matches will continue to be hosted at Chinnaswamy Stadium without
interruption. The Chief Minister’s statement, described as firm and decisive, eliminated every circulating rumor about the potential relocation of RCB’s home games. This assurance restored confidence among stakeholders—franchises, sponsors, players, and especially fans. Bengaluru’s IPL nights are electric: fireworks, chants, music, and a sea of red jerseys. Moving the matches anywhere else would not only have been disruptive but would have diluted the emotional bond that Karnataka shares with its home team.
Government-Led Infrastructure Support & Modernisation Plans
The city’s rapid growth has created a pressing need for smart urban planning, especially around large venues. The government used the meeting to lay out its commitment to resolving infrastructural bottlenecks. This included improving traffic flow around MG Road, Cubbon Road, and Queens Road; coordinating with the metro system for match-day frequency boosts; and ensuring better pedestrian safety pathways. Promises were also made to streamline permissions required for match-day operations, improve emergency response systems, and install upgraded surveillance equipment with artificial intelligence to enhance crowd monitoring.
KSCA, on the other hand, committed to internal modernization—expanding seating capacity where possible, enhancing pitch and outfield quality, and upgrading drainage systems to ensure faster game resumes after rain. With Bengaluru’s unpredictable monsoon patterns, an advanced rainwater evacuation system was prioritized.
Protecting Karnataka’s Cricketing Heritage
What makes cricket in Karnataka special is not just the passion of fans but the legacy created by legendary players—from Anil Kumble to Rahul Dravid, Javagal Srinath, Venkatesh Prasad, KL Rahul, and emerging young stars.
The December meeting recognized this heritage and emphasized the importance of nurturing young talent with world-class facilities. Plans were discussed to strengthen district-level academies, upgrade training facilities, and support women’s cricket through more structured tournaments and mentorship programs. The collaboration ensures that Karnataka remains a consistent contributor to Indian cricket—not just through stadiums and matches, but through players and leadership.
A Vision for the Next Decade—A Modern Sporting Hub
Beyond addressing immediate concerns, the December dialogue laid out a 10-year vision. The government proposed exploring the development of a larger cricket-cum-multi-sport complex in Bengaluru’s outskirts—something on par with global arenas in Australia, UK, and UAE. Such a project would transform Karnataka into a hub not just for cricket, but also for tennis, football, athletics, and large-scale international events. The idea reflects the government’s growing focus on positioning
the state as a global sporting destination. With improved connectivity, brand-building, and hosting capabilities, Karnataka could become the natural choice for international sports bodies seeking venues in South Asia.
A Win for Fans, Players, and the Sporting Community
The December meeting was not merely administrative—it was emotional. It reaffirmed the value of Karnataka’s fans, whose voices, concerns, and devotion to cricket shaped the outcome. Chinnaswamy Stadium represents memories for millions: first matches, iconic centuries, nailbiting finishes, and the sheer joy of being part of something larger than life. By securing the stadium’s future, the meeting preserved the magical experience of IPL nights, international face-offs, and Karnataka’s domestic triumphs. For players, it ensured continuity, stability, and home support. For the state, it promised economic impact, global attention, and strengthened cultural identity.
December 2025—A Month That Secured Karnataka’s Cricketing Soul
The KSCA-government meeting in December 2025 was a landmark event that transcended bureaucracy. It brought clarity, unity, and strategic vision to the future of cricket in Karnataka. What emerged was a partnership built on mutual respect, transparency, and shared passion—a commitment to preserve Chinnaswamy Stadium’s legacy while preparing it for the demands of the next decade. The assurance that IPL and international cricket will remain in Bengaluru was more than a policy announcement—it was a promise to fans, a tribute to Karnataka’s cricketing tradition, and a bold step toward a modern, world-class sporting future.
TRAVEL, TOURISM & LEISURE OF KARNATAKA
SHIVANASAMUDRA FALLS KARNATAKA’S TWIN CASCADES OF MAJESTY
TRAVEL,
Nestled amid the lush landscapes along the Mysuru–Mandya border, Shivanasamudra Falls stands among Karnataka’s most spectacular natural treasures. Often celebrated as the twin cascades of the Kaveri, the destination seamlessly blends dramatic scenery, rich history, and adventure. Located roughly 130 km from Bengaluru and about 80 km from Mysuru, Shivanasamudra makes for an ideal weekend retreat—offering serenity, cultural depth, and outdoor excitement in a single journey.
The Twin Waterfalls: Gaganachukki & Bharachukki
The Kaveri River splits dramatically here to form two distinct waterfalls, each offering a unique experience. Gaganachukki Falls, plunging from a height of nearly 90 meters, is a classic horsetail waterfall marked by a thunderous vertical descent. The roar of cascading water carries across the valley, while swirling mist and dense green forests create a striking visual frame—making it a favourite for photographers. In contrast, Bharachukki Falls, at around 69 meters, spreads wide across multiple tiers. Its gentler flow and accessible pathways allow visitors to walk closer to the base and safely experience the expansive power and beauty of the falls. Together, these cascades present two complementary moods in one place—raw force and serene majesty.
Nature, Wildlife & Scenic Beauty
Beyond the waterfalls, Shivanasamudra unfolds as a thriving eco-tourism haven. Tropical forests and riverine vegetation dominate the landscape, dotted with ferns and endemic plant species. The surrounding wilderness supports rich fauna, including elephants, leopards, sambar deer, jungle cats, and monitor lizards. Birdlife is especially vibrant, with frequent sightings of kingfishers, Indian peafowl, Malabar pied hornbills, and seasonal migratory birds. This abundance of biodiversity offers visitors not only stunning views but also rewarding opportunities for wildlife observation, photography, and nature education.
Historical & Cultural Significance
Shivanasamudra is equally significant for its role in India’s industrial and spiritual history. The area is home to Asia’s first hydroelectric power station, commissioned in 1902, which famously supplied electricity to Bengaluru—marking a milestone in early engineering and modernization. Spiritually, the region is anchored by the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, also known as Madhya Ranga. It forms part of the sacred trilogy of Ranganatha temples along the Kaveri River, drawing pilgrims who often combine temple visits with a stop at the falls, creating a journey that is both devotional and scenic.
Visiting Shivanasamudra: Tips & Guidelines
The best time to visit Shivanasamudra is during the monsoon and post-monsoon months from July to October, when the waterfalls are at their most dramatic and the surrounding greenery is lush. Winter, from November to February, offers cooler temperatures and clear skies, ideal for trekking and exploration. The falls are accessible by road— approximately a 3–4 hour drive from Bengaluru and a 2–3 hour drive from Mysuru—while public transport options remain limited, making private taxis or self-drive the most convenient choices.
Visitors should strictly avoid swimming near the waterfalls due to strong currents, carry sturdy footwear and rain protection, and bring essentials like food and water, as amenities in the area are minimal.
Adventure & Activities
Shivanasamudra caters to a wide range of interests. Trekking and nature walks along riverbanks and forested slopes allow travellers to immerse themselves in the landscape. Bird watching is particularly rewarding during early mornings, while photographers will find sunrise and sunset lighting ideal for dramatic compositions. Designated safe zones along the riverbanks make the area suitable for picnics and family outings, ensuring that adventure enthusiasts and leisure travellers alike find something to enjoy.
Nearby Attractions for Extended Exploration
A visit to Shivanasamudra pairs well with several nearby heritage and natural attractions. The Somanathapura Temple, located about 25–30 km away,is renowned for its 13th-century Chennakesava Temple and exquisite Hoysala architecture. Around 60 km from the falls lies Talakadu, an ancient town famed for its sand-dune-covered temples and legends of a buried city. Nature lovers can explore the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, while adventure seekers may head to the Biligirirangana Hills for trekking and panoramic views. Cultural highlights await in Mysuru, and bird enthusiasts can visit the Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, known for its earlymorning boat safaris and rich avian life.
Sustainability & Responsible Tourism
Shivanasamudra emphasizes eco-friendly and responsible tourism. Limited commercialization helps preserve its natural charm, while local guides and eateries contribute directly to community livelihoods. Environmental awareness initiatives encourage visitors to maintain cleanliness and respect the ecosystem, ensuring that tourism supports conservation rather than harming it.
Experience in a Day
A well-planned day trip begins with an early morning departure from Bengaluru or Mysuru. Visitors can explore Gaganachukki Falls and its viewing tower by mid-morning, enjoy lunch at nearby local eateries, and spend the afternoon at Bharachukki Falls. A short trek along surrounding forest trails adds an adventurous touch, followed by an optional evening visit to Somanathapura or Talakadu before returning by nightfall.
A Living Natural Masterpiece
Shivanasamudra Falls stands as Karnataka’s quintessential nature escape—a harmonious blend of roaring waterfalls, tranquil forests, and historic landmarks. It offers adventure, photography, ecotourism, and spiritual exploration in equal measure, inspiring a deeper appreciation for the state’s natural and cultural wealth. From the thunder of the twin cascades to the serenity of nearby temples and wildlife sanctuaries, Shivanasamudra is more than a destination—it is an immersive journey into nature, history, and heritage, perfectly suited for travellers seeking beauty, adventure, and culture in one unforgettable experience.
