Eagles Donate Nearly $700,000 in Charitable Grants During International Convention The Biggest Little City in the World was the center of the Fraternal Order of Eagles last month as the organization held its annual Convention at the Nugget Casino Resort in Reno, Nev., July 22-27. Nearly 2,000 members congregated for a week of fun, friendship and fraternalism, filling hospitality rooms, packing banquets and handling the business of the Order during our daily sessions. Throughout the week, the Fraternal Order of Eagles presented $680,874.25 in charitable grants for a variety of causes including $170,874.25 to Ohio State University's James Cancer Center - the special project of 2022-23 Grand Worthy President Rick Powell. Dr. Arnab Chakravarti was on hand to accept the grant for OSU, thanking Powell and the membership as he explained the incredible breakthroughs this money will help fund. During the presentation, Powell was surprised by his home state of Ohio with an additional $180,000 for the James, bringing the total to over $350,000. Eagles packed the house for the Tuesday Aerie & Auxiliary Members Banquet to rock out to Don Felder, formerly
of the Eagles. Felder drew a standing room only crowd, with members spilling into the hallways to enjoy the show. Throughout the week, the F.O.E. raised a total of $32,688 through daily 50/50 raffle drawings, various sub-club donations and raffle baskets for Eagle Village and Memorial Foundation. From Ritual competition to more than 12 different educational courses, there was something in Reno for everyone! We wrapped up the week with our Installation of Officers as we celebrated the coronation of our new Grand Worthy President Chuck Weber, of Casper, Wyo., and Grand Madam President Becky Wilson of Springfield, Mo. Thank you to everyone who joined us out west and we can't wait to see all of you again next year in New Orleans!
