escribe how you got started in your business. I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to work as a factory hand in a local window factory, after immigrating from South Africa. I learned the ropes there and was then offered a job at SGA a few years later where I was able to refine my skills and grow into more challenging roles, such as Production Manager. How has your business evolved since it began? SGA has been a locally owned and run business on the Coffs Coast for over 40 years. We have evolved from supplying standard windows for smaller residential projects to being a part of much larger major local commercial projects and supplying architecturally unique window solutions. What is your greatest achievement? Working my way up to becoming the business owner of this growing local business. What is your business’s greatest asset? Hands down my amazing staff! What is the most satisfying aspect of your role? Giving locals a start and giving them the opportunity to develop new skills and advance in their career path. What creative things do you do to create a likeable company culture? As a new business owner and coming through the ranks from the factory floor I think that outside of business hours interaction with your staff and rewarding their efforts is extremely important, I’m still working on a few extra things. Our team is extremely important to us. Where do you see your business in the next year? Next 5 years? Next 10 years? Hopefully we are caught up with all our work. The processes we are putting into place over the next 6 months should see us excel in production. Then we can take on more projects for the Coffs region.
