The executive who led the merger of two industrial gas companies is now the president and CEO of the Jacksonville railroad company after the departure of Joe Hinrichs. BY MARK BASCH & MONTY ZICKUHR STAFF WRITERS

teve Angel, the executive who led the merger of two industrial gas companies into the largest such firm in the world, is now the president and CEO of Jacksonville-based CSX Corp. The news came Sept. 29 when CSX announced that President and CEO Joe Hinrichs had left the company, replaced by Angel.
The Jacksonville-based railroad company gave no reason for Hinrichs’ departure. Hinrichs, in a letter to employees posted on LinkedIn, didn’t give a reason either. “As my time as CEO of CSX comes to an end, I want to thank all 23,000 CSX employees for your support and efforts over these last three years,” he wrote. “I wish you all the best moving forward.”
