Michael Munz and Jim Dalton say they want to use the space for their business as well as groups meeting Downtown. Almost 11 years after buying the building, Michael Munz and Jim Dalton are developing what they call the “Sidebar” in space vacated by Subway inside the Dalton Agency Building Downtown. Munz said the 2,000 square feet of space will connect to the Dalton Agency through an interior sliding barn door and also have exterior access. Munz and Jim Dalton own the two-story, 30,096-squarefoot building at 140 W. Monroe St., which they purchased with another agency partner as of Jan. 1, 2008, and moved there in February 2008. They bought out the partner, Dave Josserand, when he retired from the agency this year. “Jim and I decided that we wanted to utilize the space for our staff, clients and as a community room for organizations that might find the space interesting to use Downtown,” said Munz, a partner with Dalton in the agency, a national advertising, public relations and social

The owners of Five Points favorite Derby On Park announced Wednesday they plan to close the restaurant by the end of the year. Owners Dwayne Beliakoff and Jonathan Cobbs said through a statement that they will introduce a new concept in early 2019. Derby On Park, at 1068 Park St., will close Sunday. “We extend our deepest gratitude to our employees, guests and the Five Points community who have shown so much support for our team and Derby On Park throughout its history,” said Beliakoff. The group did not say what the new concept would be or provide a reopening date for the more than 3,000-square-foot space. They did not cite a specific reason, other than to say they wanted to introduce “new flavors and dining options” to the busy Five Points area of Riverside. SEE DERBY ON PARK, PAGE 2

They’re coming down . . . Demolition continues at the former Duval County Courthouse and City Hall Annex Downtown along East Bay Street. In several places at both structures, enough material has been removed that the areas behind the buildings along the St. Johns River can be seen from Bay Street. The annex is scheduled for implosion Jan. 20, although that date could change. More photos at jaxdailyrecord.com
