JACKSONVILLE From city elections to thousands of acres slated for development, the staff of the Jacksonville Daily Record and Record & Observer looks forward to the stories that will make headlines in The District mixed-use development is expected to break ground in 2019. the months ahead.

With the goal of moving in next year, VyStar Credit Union seeks permits for an additional $11.4 million in work at the Downtown property it bought in July for $59 million and is renovating for its corporate headquarters. It follows an application in November for $2.2 million for core building upgrades that include restroom and elevator lobby work on at least 13 floors. The 23-story tower is at 76 S. Laura St. The Jacksonville-based financial services institution submitted plans Friday for $8 million in renovations called “Tenant improvement – Package 1” and recently for $3.4 million to add backup generators and fuel tanks. Dana B. Kenyon Co. is the contractor listed for the tenant improvements for office uses on the second through seventh floors and for employee amenities — such as cafe, game and collaboration space — on the 23rd floor. Dana B. Kenyon Co. also is the contractor listed to add the power
