Ash Properties Inc. intends to develop a 128-room Cambria Hotel in Hampton Village in South Jacksonville. Randall Whitfield, chief operating officer of Jacksonvillebased Ash Properties, said Thursday he anticipates construction will start in June and be completed a year later. Cambria Hotels is a brand of Choice Hotels International. “We like their concept. It’s the upper scale of their hotel brand. We visited several Cambrias and liked what we saw,” Whitfield said. Whitfield said Ash Properties will enlist a hotel hospitality specialist to operate the full-service property. The city is reviewing civil plans for the project, called the Hampton Village Hotel. It is shown as a five-story, 128-room hotel with a pool on 3.4 acres at 7826 Ozark Drive east of Interstate 295 near Baymeadows Road East. Baker Design Build is the civil engineer. The Cambria Hotels website shows almost 40 locations, including two in Florida in Dania Beach and Miami. Amenities include meeting space and a bar and bistro. Choice Hotels has 10 brands that include Comfort Inn. Comfort Suites, Clarion, MainStay Suites, Roadway Inn and the Ascend Hotel Collection.

Ruth’s Chris wins building permit Ruth’s Chris Steak House will remodel its Downtown Southbank restaurant in the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Jacksonville Riverfront at 1201 Riverplace Blvd. The city issued a building permit Wednesday for CBH General Contracting LLC to remodel the restaurant at a cost of $662,700. Of the 8,614-square-foot restaurant, 5,698 square feet will be altered, according to the permit. Ruth’s Chris plans to renovate the bar, lobby and dining areas.
