PIRARUCU
Für Vaidas und mich war es bereits das dritte Mal in Pirarucu. Trotz aller Erfahrung übt dieser Ort eine ungebrochene Faszination aus – sonst würde man nicht immer wieder zurückkehren. Die riesigen Fische, die ständig zum Luftholen auftauchen und rund um das Boot rollen, machen jede Stunde am Wasser spannend.
Dieses Jahr fanden wir ganz andere Bedingungen vor als zuvor: sehr hoher Wasserstand und stark erweiterte Flächen. Die Fischerei für die Gruppen davor war äußerst anspruchsvoll, doch kurz vor unserer Ankunft begann der Wasserstand kontinuierlich zu fallen. Von Tag zu Tag wurden die Bedingungen besser – und damit auch die Fischerei.
Unsere Gruppe bestand aus erfahrenen und motivierten Fliegenfischern. Entsprechend erfolgreich verlief die Woche. Insgesamt konnten wir 32 Arapaima, 67 Arowana und 12 Tambaqui fangen, darunter mehrere Arapaima über zwei Meter Länge mit einem Spitzenfisch von 225 cm von Christoph, 220 von Marko, 210 von mir und 210 von Heinz. Einige Fische konnten auch knapp unter der 2 Meter marke gefangen werden.
Besonders wertvoll ist es, eine solche Reise mit Freunden zu teilen. Unser gemeinsames Hobby, die immerwährende Freude am Angeln, der harmonische Ablauf und der viele Spaß, den wir miteinander hatten, haben diese Reise einzigartig gemacht. Genau diese Gemeinschaft ist es, die uns zusammenhält und dafür sorgt, dass unser Spaß am Reisen und unsere Abenteuerlust nicht weniger werden.
For Vaidas and me, this was already our third trip to Pirarucu. Despite all the experience, this place still holds a unique fascination—otherwise you wouldn’t keep coming back. The sheer size of the fish and seeing them surface constantly to breathe around the boat makes every hour on the water exciting.
This year we encountered very different conditions than before: extremely high water levels and greatly expanded flooded areas. At first, fishing was challenging, but shortly before our arrival the water level began to drop steadily. Day by day, conditions improved—and so did the fishing.
Our group consisted of very experienced and highly motivated fly fishermen. As a result, the week was very successful. In total, we landed 32 Arapaima, 67 Arowana, and 12 Tambaqui, including 4 Arapaima over two meters long, with a top fish measuring 225 cm from Christoph, 220cm from Marko, 210 cm from Heinz und another 210 cm from myself.
What made this trip truly special was sharing it with you. Our common passion for fishing, the constant joy it brings, the smooth and harmonious atmosphere throughout the week, and the great fun we had together made this journey unique.
