US Open Sectional Qualifying is Monday, June 6th at Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach. A very impressive list of players will be teeing it up for 36 holes of qualifying with hopes of making their way to Congressional Golf Club in Bethesda, Maryland. Quail Valley #7
Players to watch:
Blayne Barber of Lake City, FL is 23rd in the World Amateur Rankings as well as the 2009 Florida Amateur Champion. Andres Echavarria of Columbia, is 4th in the World Amateur Rankings. Michael Hebert of Orlando, is a past FSGA Junior Champion. Gary Koch of Tampa qualified, at Hunters Green with a 67. Kevin Phelan of Ireland, is the 2009 FSGA Junior Player of the Year. Sam Saunders of Orlando, qualified at MetroWest and is the grandson of Arnold Palmer. Sawyer Shaw of West Palm Beach, is 15 years old and qualified with a 69 at Bear Lakes. Sawyer is also the ranked 39th amongst US Juniors.
