Jupiter Medical Center recently celebrated the groundbreaking of its second hospital, the Jupiter Medical Center Neighborhood Hospital at the Health Park at Avenir, marking a significant healthcare expansion in northern Palm Beach County.

In this issue, we chat with Lifestyle Manager Samantha Deutsch about the Great Egret. In June, ground was broken on the new Jupiter Medical Center Neighborhood Hospital at the Health Park at Avenir. Avenir is yet again reaching another greatly anticipated milestone: the opening of the Great Egret Clubhouse. This new clubhouse will serve Avenir’s western neighborhoods, creating a community hub for residents of all ages. With amenities for relaxing, socializing, exercising and entertaining, the Great Egret, run by lifestyle manager Samantha Deutsch, has something for everyone. Deutsch, a longtime resident of the Acreage/Loxahatchee area, has seen how Avenir has blossomed over the past few years and is eager to contribute to the thriving community. With her experience working at Lang Management for the last four years, and in management for the past eight, she is ready to create programming and 6 July/August 2026 | AVENIR THE MAGAZINE

events that meet the unique needs of the Avenir community. “I think that’s the best part of my job — just bringing people together and having a wonderful time,” Deutsch explained. “I love seeing people happy. I get to help people have a great time and a great overall experience. That’s why they move here.” With the expansive 28,000 square feet of clubhouse space, situated on 13 acres of land, there is room for everyone to find their favorite place at the Great Egret. This includes an expansive resort-style pool — complete with water features and in-pool loungers — offering residents a place to relax and cool off. A separate lap pool provides a dedicated space to get in some exercise, and the spa invites residents

to unwind. Children are not forgotten with their own shallow pool and splash pad area. Surrounding the pools are an assortment of lounge chairs, cabanas, couches and covered beds, offering ample space for residents to gather with friends or steal away for some restful alone time. With more than 100 lounge chairs and a party pavilion, there is room for everyone to find their favorite spot between the artfully landscaped palms and greenery. For those looking to get in some exercise on the court, the Great Egret provides 12 pickleball courts and 10 tennis courts for players to enjoy. Each court is equipped with lights to keep the game going even after the sun sets. The pro shop, located directly next to

the courts, will furnish residents with pickleball and tennis accoutrements, as well as a shaded area to watch the matches. Stepping into the clubhouse, visitors are immediately enwrapped in a sense of luxury. Towering ceilings and abundant natural lighting create a bright and airy feel. The décor blends modern style with coastal touches, creating an environment that elevates the everyday. Sea-blue accents unite the spaces throughout, fostering a cohesive design. Deutsch describes the Great Egret as walking into a resort every day. Residents can head to the lounge for a repose or to meet up with friends. A colossal fireplace provides a sleek backdrop on one side of the room,

while a polished bar sits opposite, presenting another area for visitors to enjoy conversation over drinks and bites. Another bar option is available outside, across from the pool, for residents who want to enjoy the sunshine while sipping a drink. For visitors craving a sit-down meal, the Great Egret will also house a full-service restaurant called the Avenir Prime Blue Point. Set to be open six days of the week, with indoor and outdoor seating options, the restaurant is sure to be a go-to for elevated dining close to home. “It also just brings a lot of people together — getting to know your neighbors and getting to know your community,” Deutsch said of the many social spaces at the new clubhouse. For the health-oriented residents, the sprawling fitness center, group fitness studio and indoor basketball court ensure plenty of avenues for active fun. The fitness center has all manners of workout equipment, from stair climbers to functional trainer machines, and the basketball court can be used as four additional pickleball courts. FM Sports will offer a variety of classes, including strength training and yoga, as well as personal training. 8 July/August 2026 | AVENIR THE MAGAZINE

After some gym time, residents will be able to rest and recharge at the spa. Men’s and women’s locker rooms, steam rooms and saunas offer a place for ultimate relaxation. The full-service spa will provide residents with manicure and pedicure services, massages, stylist appointments and more, without ever having to leave the community. All members of the Avenir community have been thoughtfully considered in the design process of the clubhouse. There is even a room specifically dedicated to teens, which is outfitted with comfy chairs, an air hockey table, a basketball game, an arcade gaming machine and more. This hub is sure to become a favorite spot for more youthful members of the family. “There is a strong connection with family here,” Deutsch said. “I do see a lot of children — a lot of kids, a lot of teenagers — so I think the teen room will be a great feature for the community.” The littlest members of the family will undoubtedly enjoy the tropical-themed playground, located right across from the splash pad. With a fenced grass field next to the play-

ground, little ones can run and play safely. “My goal and vision for the community are to make sure I am [seeing] to each age group,” Deutsch said. “We are a big community, so it is not designated to one age. My goal is to incorporate all ages and families and just bring everyone together.” Deutsch plans to do this by providing space, clubs and events that reflect community interests. There are two card rooms: one for card games and the other dedicated to poker, so players of all types can find their perfect place. Deutsch also plans to work closely with residents to create programming that community members will use daily. She anticipates events like “wine-down Wednesdays” or paint and sips for adults, “Sunday-fundays” for the whole family and educational events. The Great Egret is on track to welcome residents this August, with a grand opening set for the fall. “I want to keep everyone busy, happy and having fun — that’s what’s important in life,” Deutsch said. Located at the corner of Northlake Blvd. and Landstar Drive, the new medical campus will become a central healthcare destination for residents of Avenir, Ibis, Bay Hill Estates, Westlake and neighboring communities that have experienced unprecedented resi-

Adjacent to the hospital will be a three-story, 47,000-square-foot medical office building that will house Jupiter Medical Center physicians across a wide range of specialties. Patients will have access to primary care, concierge medicine, cardiology, orthopedics, gastroenterology, pulmonary medicine and general surgery, allow-

ing healthcare needs to be addressed within a single campus. The integrated approach is designed to improve convenience while strengthening coordination between physicians, specialists and hospital services. advanced emergency, surgical and specialty care closer to where patients live while supporting the health system’s comprehensive continuum of care. “This part of the county has long been underserved when it comes to access to high-quality healthcare,” Rastogi continued. “As Palm Beach County continues to expand westward, families in Avenir and the surrounding communities deserve the peace of mind that comes from knowing advanced emergency care, surgical services, imaging and physician specialists are available close to home. This new neighborhood hospital demonstrates our commitment to meet people where they are — with the same exceptional quality, compassion and patient-centered care that define Jupiter Medical Center.” The project is being developed by Sina Companies, a Palm Beach Gardens-based real estate developer with extensive experience creating healthcare facilities throughout Florida. Black Diamond Construction will serve as the general contractor for the project. “The Health Park at Avenir is about more than building medical facilities — it’s about creating a true sense of place for this community,” said Malcolm Sina, executive chairman of Sina Companies. “When people decide where to live or establish their business, healthcare is a top consideration. As Avenir and the surrounding communities continue to grow, it became apparent that essential services like healthcare are integrated into everyday life. Partnering with Jupiter Medical Center allows us to bring world-class care directly into the communities we are helping to build.” The Health Park itself extends beyond the initial hospital and physician offices. The master plan also includes two additional two-story medical office buildings, each approximately 25,000 square feet, providing opportunities for additional healthcare providers and specialists to establish practices within the campus. Space in these buildings is currently available for lease, with construction planned during future phases of development. The timing of the project reflects the remarkable growth occurring throughout the western Northlake cor-

ridor. The master-planned community of Avenir has been approved for approximately 3,650 homes, along with retail, office space, parks, restaurants and recreational amenities. Recent additions such as Avenir Town Center and Publix have transformed the area into a vibrant residential destination. The new Health Park further enhances that vision by creating a community where residents can access healthcare, shopping, dining and recreation without traveling long distances. For Jupiter Medical Center, the expansion builds upon a period of significant growth. The nonprofit health system recently opened its new 92-bed Patient Care Tower at its main Jupiter campus while continuing to earn recognition as one of Florida’s highestperforming hospitals for quality, patient safety and patient experience. Field of Greens was created with a simple mission: to make fresh, highquality, better-for-you food easy, approachable and full of flavor. The inspiration came from the idea that healthy eating should not feel limiting or complicated. Diners should be able to enjoy a meal that is nourishing, satisfying and convenient, whether they are stopping in for a quick lunch, grabbing dinner for

the family or ordering something fresh during a busy workday. The company has grown across South Florida because of its consistency and trust. Field of Greens has built a loyal following by offering food that guests can feel good about, while still delivering the flavor, variety and convenience that people want. The menu includes salads, wraps, bowls, smoothies, juices, soups and other chef-driven items, giving diners plenty of options, whether they are looking for something light, proteinpacked, plant-forward, gluten-free, vegetarian, or simply fresh and delicious.

The goal is for the Avenir café to become a goto destination for lunch, dinner, postworkout meals, family meals and quick, healthy options throughout the day. The new location will feature nearly 1,900 square feet of dining space, along with an outdoor patio. The space was designed to feel fresh, bright, welcoming and comfortable, while still offering the fast-casual convenience that Field of Greens guests appreciate. The outdoor patio is especially exciting because it creates another way for guests to enjoy the restaurant, gather with friends and feel connected to the Avenir community. Chef Thomas Op’t Holt continues to lead the culinary direction of Field of Greens and plays an important role in shaping the menu. His focus is on creating food that is healthy and nourishing, but never boring. He brings a chef’s perspective to the company by looking at flavor, texture, color, balance and seasonality. At the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, art, history, nature, cuisine and culture come together in one of Palm Beach County’s most distinctive destinations. This transportive cultural experiences awaits just west of Delray Beach’s palm-fringed beaches and hospitality heartbeat. At the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, serenity and verdant natural surroundings sustain an evocative link to the Land of the Rising Sun, where visitors stroll past dew-soaked gardens hedged with ancient stone lanterns, and wood bridges hover above lush koi-filled ponds. Founded as a cultural and educational center honoring the legacy of the Yamato Colony, Morikami tells a story that is both global and deeply local. In the early 1900s, a group of young Japanese farmers led by Jo Sakai established the Yamato Colony in northern Boca Raton, hoping to introduce innovative farming practices to Florida. George Morikami, a native of Miyazu, Japan, and one of the colony’s settlers, later helped transform that history into 22 July/August 2026 | AVENIR THE MAGAZINE

a lasting cultural bridge between Japan and Palm Beach County. Today, Morikami continues that legacy through its mission to present Japanese cultural experiences that educate and inspire. The campus features traditional Japanese architecture, three exhibition galleries, a theater, an authentic tea house, classrooms, a museum store, the Cornell Café, lakeside terraces and 16 acres of Japanese gardens. For many visitors, the gardens are the heart of the experience. Known as Roji-en: Garden of the Drops of Dew, the gardens were designed as a living extension of the museum. Created by garden designer Hoichi Kurisu, Roji-en is composed of six distinct gardens inspired by significant historical periods and styles of Japanese garden design. Rather than serving as replicas, the gardens are conceived in the spirit of Japan’s garden masters, offering a contemplative journey through landscape, water, stone, plantings, bridges and shifting views. That sense of movement is part of

what makes Morikami so resonant. The gardens invite visitors to slow down, pause and experience Japanese culture through nature and design. Families may come to explore the paths and koi, garden lovers may linger over the plantings and bonsai, and solo visitors may find a place for reflection. For groups, schools and cultural travelers, the museum and gardens together offer a meaningful introduction to Japanese history, art and aesthetics without leaving Palm Beach County. Inside the museum, rotating exhibitions explore the arts and humanities of Japan through objects, images, textiles and stories. For visitors, one of the most compelling exhibitions is Threads of Silver & Gold, on view through Sept. 20. The exhibition focuses on uchikake, elaborately decorated outer robes that date to the Edo period, when highranking women wore them at court and brides in samurai families wore them for weddings. Their rich colors, raised silk weaving, padded hems and symbolic motifs, including cranes, turtles and cherry blossoms, offer a striking

look at status, ceremony, craftsmanship and good-fortune imagery in Japanese textile traditions. Museum guests can also experience two traveling exhibitions on view now through Aug. 30. Yōkai: Scenes of the Supernatural in Japanese Woodblock Prints explores mysterious creatures, shape-shifting animals, vengeful ghosts, demons and other supernatural figures that have inhabited Japan’s folklore, theater, literature and visual culture for centuries. The exhibition includes 90 works, including woodblock prints and printed books spanning more than 250 years, with imagery that connects historic Japanese folklore to the visual language that continues to inspire manga and anime today. Also on view is Courage & Compassion: Our Shared Story of the Japanese American World War II Experience, which examines the forced removal and incarceration of Japanese Americans during and after World War II. Through images, audio and interactive elements, the exhibition offers a 360-degree perspective on a difficult chapter of American history while honoring those who stood up for Japanese Americans as friends, neighbors and fellow citizens. Morikami’s programming expands the experience far beyond the galleries. Visitors can take classes and workshops in Japanese cultural arts, from ikebana and bonsai to taiko drumming and tea ceremony. Ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, is offered through different schools of study. The Ikenobo School dates back to the 15th century and is considered the oldest and most traditional school, while Sogetsu takes a more contemporary approach centered on creativity and individuality, with the idea that ikebana can be practiced by anyone, anywhere, with almost anything. In both, students create arrangements to take home, making the class both cultural instruction and hands-on artmaking. Bonsai classes offer another way to understand the patience and discipline embedded in Japanese aesthetics. Students learn to trim and train trees

in containers, creating the illusion of age, maturity and nature in miniature. Morikami offers both beginner and intermediate classes, allowing guests to approach bonsai as an art form, a horticultural practice and a meditative discipline. For those drawn to music and movement, taiko classes introduce students to Japanese drumming. Taiko can refer to the drum itself, a drumming style, a drum group or drum music, and Morikami’s classes give participants the opportunity to learn the history, culture and techniques behind the instrument. The museum’s Sunset Strolls also bring the gardens to life after hours with live taiko performances by Fushu Daiko, along with koto performances and cultural programming. On Sept. 17, the Sunset Stroll theme is Japanese Fashion & Cosplay, with a cosplay fashion show hosted by Florida Supercon, offering a lively connection between traditional Japanese culture and contemporary pop culture. The tea house is one of Morikami’s most distinctive cultural offerings. Seishin-an, the museum’s authentic tea house, allows visitors to observe or study sado, commonly known as the Japanese tea ceremony or “the way of tea.” While tea culture in Japan developed over many centuries, the form most closely associated with today’s tea ceremony was shaped in the 16th century by the influential tea master Sen no Rikyū, who elevated the practice into an art centered on simplicity, hospitality, mindfulness and seasonal awareness. At Morikami, tea ceremony classes are offered in the Omote-Senke style, and students learn in the tea house under instructor Yoshiko Hardick. The experience is never static. The tea ceremony changes from month to month and season to season, making each gathering a reflection of time, place and intention. Family programs are also forefront to Morikami’s appeal. Craft activities, cultural celebrations, seasonal programs and youth camps invite children to encounter Japanese culture in accessible ways. A child might first experience Morikami by creating a Tanabata-inspired craft,

listening to a story, attending a family program or walking through the gardens. For older children and teens, programs such as taiko and cultural workshops can turn curiosity into deeper engagement. For visitors who want to complete the experience with cuisine, Cornell Café offers Pan-Asian-inspired dining overlooking the gardens. Menu offerings include bento boxes, teriyaki salmon, teriyaki chicken, cellophane noodles, vegetarian selections, sushi rolls, dumplings, edamame and other dishes that make the café a natural extension of the museum’s cultural mission. It is a place where a visit can become a full afternoon, moving from gallery to garden to table. Morikami is also an important philanthropic and educational resource. Contributions and memberships help support exhibitions, educational programs, lectures, demonstrations, and the specialized training and maintenance required to preserve the Japanese gardens. Donations help ensure that visitors encounter world-class exhibitions, the gardens remain carefully conserved, children benefit from programs and communities continue to experience the beauty and connection that Morikami offers.
