Dear friends and colleagues

After more than fifteen years designing and building luxury homes in Fairfield County, I was fortunate to acquire Wakefield Design Center and partner with its founder, George W. Snead Jr.

George was a true gentleman—the kindest man you could hope to meet—and for over twenty-five years, he poured his heart and vision into Wakefield, shaping it into one of the most respected to-the-trade showrooms in the country.

In January of this year, George passed away unexpectedly. While his absence is deeply felt, his legacy lives on in every detail of what we are building. George’s generosity, creativity, and unwavering commitment to supporting the design community continue to inspire us each day.

Fletcher Wakefield is, in many ways, the continuation of his life’s work: a place that not only showcases product, but also fosters learning, partnership, and the pursuit of excellence in design.

We relaunched Fletcher Wakefield with a simple goal: to give designers more time with clients, more freedom for their vision, and more value for their business. This is not just a showroom, but a working studio and smarter ecosystem that helps you source, grow, and deliver a better client experience.

At Fletcher Wakefield, we believe in more than products—we believe in partnership. We stand for quality, integrity, and exceptional service. Together, we are building something that elevates not only the spaces we touch, but also the people and businesses behind them.

Thank you for joining us on this journey. I look forward to working alongside you to make this industry smarter, stronger, and more rewarding for everyone.

With gratitude and respect,

GEORGE SNEAD IN HIS ICONIC “BE REAL AND NEVER NEUTRAL” SWEATER

Frequently Asked Questions

Getting started

How does the process work? Where do we start? What do you need from me?

Joining FW is quick and easy through our website. To get started, we’ll need your resale certificate (for trade accounts), billing and shipping information. Upon joining, we’ll begin by understanding your project needs and helping you source the right pieces. Once you select items, we place orders directly with our vendors, handle logistics and any special requirements (such as COM, rush orders, or installation needs).

Orders & deliveries

Shipping varies by vendor. Most orders ship directly to a receiver, though some items can go directly to a residence. We’ll advise the best option based on size, fragility, and vendor policies. How does shipping work?

How does it work if I want to use COM (Customer’s Own Material)?

If you’d like to use COM and it is from a vendor we represent, we’ll place the order for you. If it’s not one of our vendors, we’ll provide the specifications and ship-to details, and you’ll be responsible for supplying the material directly.

Returns, damages, & repairs

What happens if my item arrives damaged?

If damage is noted at delivery, we’ll need photos to file a claim with the vendor on your behalf. Resolution may be a replacement, repair, or refund depending on vendor policy.

How long does it take to get a replacement if an item arrives damaged?

Replacement timelines depend on vendor lead times and inventory availability. We’ll expedite wherever possible.

Do I automatically get a replacement if my order arrives defective?

Not automatically each vendor has its own claim process. We’ll work with them to secure the best outcome for you.

What if my client does not like it? Can I return it?

Returns for buyer’s remorse are generally not accepted unless the vendor makes an exception. We recommend confirming dimensions, finishes, and samples prior to ordering.

If my client is not happy with the item purchased and the vendor approves the return, do I get a full refund? Who pays for all the shipping fees?

If a return is approved, the vendor’s policy applies. Typically, shipping fees are non-refundable and return freight may be the client’s responsibility.

If something needs to be repaired locally, who pays for that repair?

Responsibility depends on the situation vendor-approved warranty issues are covered by the vendor. Otherwise, the client may be responsible for local repairs.

Credits & refunds

How does a store credit work?

If a vendor issues a store credit, Fletcher Wakefield issues a store credit to your account as well. It can be applied to any open or future orders.

For how long is a store credit valid?

Validity varies by vendor, but typically store credits must be used within 12 months.

Trade program

What is my designer discount?

Fletcher Wakefield offers exclusive trade discounts. Trade clients will receive discount information on a case-by-case basis as the discounts vary by vendor and product.

Yes. Through our Finishing Touches program, clients may borrow accessories or select from available showroom inventory for immediate approval.

Policies

Are orders cancellable once placed?

Most orders are cancellable if they have not begun production. Our cancellation policy is contingent upon the vendors' policies.

What if my client changes the finish/fabric after the order is placed?
