Re-using plastic bottle
This project shows the growing process of vegetative propagation which is a form of asexual reproduction which new plants grow from the roots, stems, or leaves of a parent plant instead of seeds. It is a simple and fast way to grow new plants. The new plants usually have the same characteristics as the parent plant.Introduction to One way to do this is by using a plastic bottle. The bottle can hold soil and help keep the plant moist while new roots grow. This method is simple, affordable, and environmentally friendly because it reuses plastic bottles.

Re-using plastic bottle
Steps of Planting Using a Plastic Bottle 1. Prepare the materials: Get a plastic bottle, soil, water, and a healthy plant. 2. Cut the bottle: Cut the plastic bottle carefully to make an opening. 3. Add the soil: Fill the bottle with moist soil. 4. Prepare the plant: Take a healthy stem or branch from the parent plant. 5. Plant the stem: Place the stem in the soil or use the bottle to hold moist soil around a branch for air layering. 6. Water the plant: Add enough water to keep the soil moist. 7. Place in a suitable area: Keep the plant in a place with suitable sunlight. 8. Wait for roots to grow: Check the plant regularly and keep the soil moist. 9. Transfer the plant: Once the roots are strong enough, transfer the new plant to a pot or garden. Conclusion: Using a plastic bottle for vegetative propagation is a simple and affordable way to grow new plants while reusing plastic waste.
Day 2
Starts to grow 2cm
Day 10
More sprouts grow and they become 7cm tall
Day 5
The sprout starts to have a green color & grows cm tall
Day 13
The sprouts grow 2 cm more to 9 cm
Day 7
Another sprout grows and already has a green color
Day 16
The sprouts grow 2 cm more to 11 cm
Growing Factors 💧
1. Water : Water helps shallots absorb moisture and grow roots and leaves. The bottom of the bulb should touch the water, but most of the bulb should stay dry to prevent rotting. 2. Sunlight : Sunlight helps shallots make their own food through photosynthesis. Enough sunlight helps the leaves grow green and healthy. 3. Temperature : Temperature affects how quickly shallots grow. Warm temperatures are generally suitable for shallot growth, but excessive heat can damage the plant. 4. Nutrients : Nutrients help shallots grow strong roots and healthy leaves. The bulb already stores nutrients for early growth, but a suitable hydroponic nutrient solution may help if the plant grows in water for a longer time. 5. Oxygen : Roots need oxygen to stay healthy and absorb nutrients. Changing the water regularly helps prevent it from becoming stagnant and reduces the risk of root rot. 6. Healthy Shallot Bulb : healthy bulb is firm and free from rot. It can produce roots and shoots more successfully because it contains stored food for early growth.

Tips ! : 🌱 Tips for Growing Shallots in Water Using Plastic Cups
1.Choose healthy shallots. Select firm bulbs without signs of rot or damage. 2.Use clean water. Change the water every 1–2 days to keep it fresh and reduce the risk of root rot. 3.Do not soak the whole bulb. Keep only the bottom of the shallot touching the water to prevent rotting. 4.Provide enough sunlight. Place the cup where the shallots can receive about 6 hours of sunlight daily. 5.Use a clean plastic cup. Make sure the cup is clean to help prevent the growth of harmful microorganisms. 6.Check the roots daily. Observe root length and leaf growth to monitor the plant's development. 7.Avoid excessive heat. Keep the shallots in a bright place, away from extreme heat. 8.Record the growth. Measure the roots and leaves every day to see how much the shallots grow. 9.Add nutrients if needed. If you want to grow shallots for longer, use a properly diluted hydroponic nutrient solution. 10.Be patient. Give your shallots time to develop roots and green shoots. Conclusion: Clean water, sufficient sunlight, and proper care are the keys to helping shallots grow healthily in plastic cups.
