Kudelka/Lemieux Mix is a triple-bill performed by Compagnie de la Citadelle, including two of James Kudelka’s most celebrated works, along with a new work by Artistic Director Laurence Lemieux.
Toi et Moi, originally commissioned by Dance Arts Institute in 2024, is a physical exploration of a female and male relationship, set to the music of Willie Lamothe, an icon of country music in Quebec.
Soudain l’Hiver Dernier, commissioned for the inaugural season of Montréal Danse in 1987, highlights the trust inherent in lifting or supporting a body. This remarkable duet by James Kudelka distills that bedrock faith.
The Man in Black, originally commissioned by BalletMet Columbus in 2010, remains one of Kudelka’s most enduring dances. Choreographed to six songs by Johnny Cash, it is an ode to the human spirit, socially congenial yet proudly independent, vulnerable yet resilient.
