OCAF letter

Page 1

Concerned Members of OCAF, The following is an update on the concerns discussed during our meeting at The Sanctuary on August 15. The notes from the meeting were compiled, the letter (below) drafted and edited, then reviewed by former OCAF Board Member Eadaoin Waller, a non-profit lawyer. Appointments were set to hand deliver the letter to each Board member, believing an in-person delivery would be more appropriate than an email out of the blue. All of the Board members, except GaryAdcox, have received the letter. Last week we attempted to set an in-person meeting with Cyndee Moore (Chair) to hand her the letter, and had one set for Sept. 2, however she cancelled via text the night before the meeting. (We intended to request that she share the letter with Gary.) She asked for Ray to contact her after Labor Day, which he did, however she did not return his voicemails or text so he sent her the letter in an email last week. It wasn’t until today that Cyndee responded saying she is available to meet on Sept. 15, but no mention of the larger full Board meeting which we’ve requested. It’s our understanding that a ZOOM meeting of the Executive Board, and possibly full-Board, has taken place. Today OCAF’s director Wendy Cooper was fired, we’re told for insubordination, by Brock Toole (Vice Chair) and new Board member Justin Cofer. Sherry spoke her mind to Brock and Justin, and there is now concern about the security of her job. The next meeting of the Concerned Members of OCAF group will be held in the same location as last time, 7:00 PM at The Sanctuary.

However, we are concerned about several aspects of OCAF governance and a perceived distance between the members of the Board and the almost 700 members that comprise OCAF. To begin, we would like to introduce ourselves. We are all members of OCAF; our group includes artists, art lovers, art collectors, founding members, members of the 1902 Society, major donors, and longtime
