Dear Members, As we head into the month of September, I can’t help but be excited to welcome autumn and the changes it brings. I’m looking forward to crisp (hopefully cooler) weather and the leaves changing colors. And, of course, there’s nothing better than fall golf at The Country Club at Loch Lloyd! Before we get to that crisp weather, we still have some hot temps to contend with. That’s why we’re hoping to keep the Pool open through mid-September. We are working with our pool management company to secure lifeguards and will keep you posted once details have been finalized. The end of summer means that we have to bid farewell to our seasonal staff. These young men and women have done a tremendous job serving our members at the Pool, the Snack Bar, in the Clubhouse and in Golf Operations this summer. We would like to thank each of them for their energy and enthusiasm and hope to see many return to our Club next year. Hope to see you at the Club soon!

Dear Members, What a strange year 2020 has been. With so many cancelations, it was nice to actually have some golf tournaments take place during August! The annual member/member, also known as The Scotty, took place last month and a great time was had by all. Nine flights of players squared off for two rounds of golf. When it was all said and done, the team of Greg Carlson and Mike Martin prevailed as this year’s champions. Congratulations to Greg and Mike as well as all of the flight winners. See our winners on pages four and five of this issue. Thank you to all who participated! SEAN HANNA DIRECTOR OF GOLF seanh@lochlloyd.com
We were able to complete our Junior Championship on August 6th. Ryan Lee is the 2020 Junior Club Champion. Ryan held off a strong field of players to capture this year’s crown. Congratulations to all of our flight winners (pictured on the next page). Our Club Championship Weekend, held on August 22nd and 23rd, pitted member against member in a friendly competition. It was a great weekend of golf and camaraderie and our hearty congratulations go out to our winners!

After two hard-fought days of golf, we have a winning championship team for The 2020 Scotty. The winners shootout was played on the 18th hole and consisted of all 10 flight winners. After Greg Carlson knocked down the pin with his approach shot, Mike Martin made the 8-foot birdie putt to seal the win! Congratulations to our 2020 Champions Greg Carlson and Mike Martin and to all of our Flight Winners!

Dear Member, September already, eh?! It’s been quite the year thus far managing COVID and in turn, managing the property, the golf course and most importantly, the safety of members and associates. I am extremely proud of the Golf Course Maintenance team and all of their hard work, dedication and determination through adversity. Short staffed in 2020, they continue to work hard each day, producing the best consistent conditions on a daily basis. Please be sure to thank a team member in passing as it means a lot to them. Thank you to all who send notes behind the scenes to share appreciation for the team.
JEFF STEEN, CGCS DIRECTOR OF GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE jeffs@lochlloyd.com
As fall approaches, the team will continue to work diligently to tackle the daily routine, but also take on some larger maintenance practices such as aeration and overseeding the rough; drainage and irrigation projects; sod high-traffic worn areas and work to knock down the native areas for weed control and sustainability. As the golfing season winds down over the next couple of months, it will be a great time to be out on the course and we look forward to seeing you there. On behalf of the entire GCM team, I want to thank you for your support and understanding during this unprecedented year. We tend to live in the moment and focus on the here and now, so as you get out and enjoy the property, please live in the moment and enjoy your round of golf. Please look for the next edition of QuarterlyInsight coming to you at the end of September. Sincerely, Jeff Steen, CGCS Director of Golf Course Maintenance The Country Club at Loch Lloyd

On behalf of the Food & Beverage team, I want to thank all the members who have supported us at the Club. We have been extremely busy … and happy to be so! We appreciate your patience as we hire and train more associates and want to remind you that RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR IN-CLUB DINING. If we do not have advance reservations, we cannot staff properly nor can we provide you the service you deserve. It was fun to see and serve so many of you during last month’s member/ member … The Scotty. The activity and “buzz” throughout the Club during this two-day event brought a sense of normalcy back to our lives and we truly enjoyed the camaraderie we saw from all the participants. Our new “Whiskey of the Month” program has been very well-received. This month we’re featuring TWO choices: KOVAL Bourbon Whiskey or Whiskey Rye, each at a special member price. You’ll find tasting notes for these libations below. Place your order by September 30th by calling the Clubhouse at 816.322.1022. You may pick up your bottle in the Clubhouse or curbside … just let us know your preference. Assistant Director of Food & Beverage, Kerianne Nunez, has some exciting programs coming up this fall including a new Wine of the Month Club and a Zoom Pasta-Making Cooking Class. Kerianne is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and has a true passion for pasta and pastry which she looks forward to sharing with you. We’ll send more info on these programs once details are finalized. Please call or email if I may be of assistance to you. Megan Hanrahan Director of Food & Beverage meganh@lochlloyd.com
KOVAL believes that the best spirits must come from the best ingredients. The grains are sourced from organic Midwestern farms, supporting the local economy and sustainable agriculture. Only the “heart cut” of the distillate is used, affording a cleaner, brighter take on whiskey. KOVAL SINGLE BARREL BOURBON WHISKEY 94 Proof 750ml bottle $48+ KOVAL’s Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey has the requisite mash bill of at least 51% corn, but includes millet instead of the usual rye or wheat supplement. This bourbon has notes of mango chutney, vanilla, and a peppery caramel finish.
Gold Medal: Best Bourbon Whiskey 2014 International Whiskey Competition KOVAL SINGLE BARREL WHISKEY RYE 80 Proof 750ml bottle $45+ KOVAL Rye offers a unique mash bill of 100% rye grain, sustainably sourced in the Midwest. This fresh and light whiskey offers mellow and somewhat sweet notes of maple and candy corn, with a classically spicy finish. Works beautifully in classic cocktails such as a Manhattan, Sazerac or Scofflaw, where its grain-forward spiciness balances out the sweetness of other ingredients.
To order your bottle of KOVAL Bourbon Whiskey or Whiskey Rye please call the Clubhouse at 816.322.1022 by September 30th. Page 9
