A magical evening at Loch Lloyd, captured by member and resident, Ed Stevens
Dear Members, Welcome 2020! The start of a new year is an exciting time for our staff as we plan events and finalize our game plan for the upcoming golf season. Although we’re looking ahead to the new year, we can’t help but look back at the spectacular holiday season we just celebrated. What an incredibly busy December we had at the Club with lots of member events, holiday parties and special dinners. You’ll find photos of some of the festivities inside this issue. You may also notice a new design for our monthly member newsletter; we thought it fitting to start a new year with a fresh, new look! Look for our annual Member Experience Survey this month. The survey has been shortened considerably and should take just a few minutes to complete. We value your feedback and will use survey results to continue to improve our services. Thank you, in advance, for giving us your input.

On behalf of the entire Golf Operations team, we extend to our members a “Happy New Year!” As the team prepares for the 2020 golf season, we are looking forward to bringing some new products and apparel lines for you to enjoy. The final golf tournament schedule has been finalized and you will soon be receiving an online version of the annual Golf Event Guide which is a great tool that details each of our golf tournaments.
SEAN HANNA DIRECTOR OF GOLF seanh@lochlloyd.com
With the winter weather now here, I would like to remind you there are two holes cut on each green. The Golf Course Maintenance team cuts two holes to help spread out traffic on the greens during the winter months. We ask that when you are playing, remove the flagstick and place it in the opposite cup when you have finished putting out. Basically, you are making the group behind you play to a different hole location. As a reminder, frost delays are a possibility during the winter, so please check for updates on ForeTees or call the Golf Shop to see if there are any delays. As the golf world begins the official transition to the World Handicap System, keep in mind that Missouri is in our “off-season” and we cannot post scores while playing locally. If you are playing in an area that is in an “active” season, you may post your scores. Our “active” season will pick back up starting in March of 2020 and you will once again be asked to post all scores to your handicap at that time. Should you have any questions on this, please contact your Golf Professionals. Happy New Year! I will see you on the first tee!

Happy New Year from the Golf Course Maintenance team! From all of us, we hope that the holiday season has been filled with joy and full of blessings!
As you’ll see from the chart below, the weather has once again been a factor leading into the New Year for the maintenance team. With slightly warmer temperatures during the beginning of December, we actually had a few die-hard golfers getting in a round or two. But then, a winter blast hit hard, bringing nine inches of snow to the course later in the month! However, now that we are into January, let’s see what Mother Nature has in store. As you can see from the chart area highlighted in yellow, we had 11 inches of snowfall last year in January. Let’s see what 2020 brings! JEFF STEEN, CGCS DIRECTOR OF GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE jeffs@lochlloyd.com
The team has been working hard the past few months to take advantage of the drier conditions, allowing us to accomplish many fall season tasks. As you can imagine, the list is long. Now that the holidays are behind us, we are preparing to knock off a few additional projects as continued tree work, pathways and drainage work will all be underway. In passing, please be sure to tip your hat or say hello to the team members. These associates are up early every day and out in the elements, working hard to enhance the golf course, surrounding property and community. It means a lot to them and they take pride in their jobs. I’ll be putting together a more detailed winter communication piece in the weeks to come and will look forward to scheduling another Town Hall Meeting at the Clubhouse to get together with as many members that can join us. On behalf of the entire Golf Course Maintenance team, thank you again for all of your support. We are excited to get 2020 underway and hope for a mild winter and early spring! Please reach out if you have any questions, concerns or comments. Jeff Steen, CGCS Director of Golf Course Maintenance The Country Club at Loch Lloyd

Happy New Year from your Food and Beverage team! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and are ready to welcome in the new year. It was a busy, action-packed month at the Club in December. There were long hours and quick turn-arounds … lots of moving tables and chairs … and festive events that kept us hopping. I want to commend our entire team for a job well done! Our annual Associate Holiday Party is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, January 12th. Since our staff is so busy during the month of December, we hold our company holiday party in January. It’s a time to reflect on our successes, celebrate our teams and refuel for the busy year ahead. VERNON BLAZEK DIRECTOR OF FOOD & BEVERAGE vernb@lochlloyd.com JANUARY HOURS OF OPERATION for the Fireside Grill and 19th Hole Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 11a to 8p
Let’s get 2020 off to a great start with a Wine Dinner on Wednesday, January 22nd featuring Rombauer Wines. Save the date now and look for our pairing menu coming soon! As a reminder, Sunday closing hours change to 4p starting in January. As traffic in the Clubhouse gets a little sparse in the winter, we’d also like to remind you of our bar closing times. The bar will close two hours after the kitchen closes. If you are dining with us before the listed closing time … please stay and enjoy your after-dinner cocktails or finish that bottle of wine. However, if there are no diners in the Club at the time the kitchen closes, we will not keep the 19th Hole open. Thank you for your support and understanding of this policy. Stay warm and don’t forget we offer to-go service for those cold evenings you just don’t feel like going out but want something great to eat! Vern Blazek Director of Food & Beverage

Associate Spotlight CLAUDIA CHAVEZ Prep Cook Claudia Chavez has been an integral part of our Food & Beverage team for the past eight years. She has proven to be an exemplary associate who is dependable and extremely hardworking. She also has an amazing story which we are proud to share. As a single mother of six (plus another child that she has taken in to raise), Claudia worked two jobs for most of her adult life and sacrificed much to support her kids. Four of Claudia’s children have worked for The Country Club at Loch Lloyd over the years and ALL of them are fine young adults and all-around good people. Claudia’s outstanding work ethic and her positive disposition have set a wonderful example for her kids to follow. Her positive influence carries over to the workplace. As her teammates will attest, Claudia has a great deal of compassion for everyone she works with and is admired by many. What an inspiration Claudia is for us all!

Please save the date and plan to join us for our first Wine Dinner of 2020 featuring the fine wines of Rombauer Vineyards. When founders Koerner and Joan Rombauer moved their two children, two horses and five dogs to Napa Valley in 1972, they arrived armed with an appreciation for the intimate relationship between food and wine. Appreciation bred passion, and Rombauer Vineyards was established in 1980. Thirty-nine years later, the winery remains owned by second- and third-generation members of the family.
Rombauer Vineyards has achieved consistency of style with distinctive, fruit-driven wines, while continually refining their winemaking practices. Guided by their passion and expertise, Rombauer spares no effort or expense to produce the finest wines each vintage offers. Our special guest for the Rombauer Wine Dinner will be Dan Fehr, Midwest Regional Sales Manager. Dan has 15+ years of experience in food and beverage management and is excited to share all that he knows about the Rombauer Vineyards and the wines we’ll be enjoying this evening.
We’re proud to feature these specials at the Clubhouse in January:
