Dear Member, It’s been a heck of a year and I’m happy to see 2020 in my rear-view mirror. I would like to commend our entire staff for a job well done this past year: Our Golf Professionals juggled changes and challenges amidst a staggering
number of rounds played.
The Golf Course Maintenance team delivered the best conditioned golf course
in Kansas City.
Our Food & Beverage staff provided consistent food and quality service
throughout frequent changes in public safety mandates.
The Fitness team was accommodating and flexible, pivoting to online pro-
grams and working with limited space.
ALL of our associates did a stellar job in 2020. Despite the uncertainty and stress, they handled themselves professionally and with a focus on establishing and following protocols to provide a safe place for our members to call home. Happy New Year and welcome to 2021! I hope this newsletter finds you safe and healthy. The Golf Course Maintenance team has a few projects starting this month and a few that are ongoing. Below is a summary of our winter activities: Drainage is needed on several parts of the course including left of #12 and left of #10 green. We will address these
areas this month, weather permitting.
A landscape bed was installed outside the tunnel as you approach #8 tee box. The plant material will be installed
in the spring. We may add a few more of these beds around the course where feasible. We also plan to add more plant material to the large beds in front of the parking lot along North National Drive.
Tree management begins this month. This consists of trimming existing trees and removing dead trees which pre-
sent a safety hazard or growth issue that impedes turf grass such as too much shade or not enough air movement. Zoysia has been sprayed with Round-Up to help eradicate unwanted grasses from the tees and fairways (such as
poa annua and tall fescue).
I look forward to seeing you on the course again when the weather turns warmer! Regards, Gary Sailer, CGCS Director of Golf Course Maintenance garys@fivestarlifestyles.com

Drew Tanner Director of Fitness FITNESS CENTER HOURS OF OPERATION DAILY HOURS 5a to 10p
access with your key fob
With many schools going virtual, and without much else to do outside due to weather, usage of the Fitness Center has noticeably increased. I understand that as a community we have become weary of restrictions and rules, and many members using the Fitness Center have noticeably become less than vigilant about following the posted policies. Unfortunately, if we are caught not enforcing these rules, we risk disciplinary action from the county, up to and including a shut-down of the facility. As such, I would like to remind you of Platte County and Club policies regarding usage of the Fitness Center: Per Platte County, masks must be worn at all times while using the Fitness Center. The ordinance
stipulates that if you are the only person in the room, a mask is not required. We do ask that you remain cognizant of fellow members when exercising this loophole and to immediately put your mask back on should someone enter a room where you are exercising alone. Members must sign in and log their temperature upon entering, before beginning their workout. When coming as a family or with other members, each individual must sign in. The Fitness Center is currently not allowing guests, with no exceptions to this rule. Members must maintain a minimum six-foot distance from other members at all times. Members must use the provided wipes to wipe each piece of equipment before and after use. These rules have been posted throughout the Fitness Center. Going forward, any member in repeat violation of any of these rules could face disciplinary action from the Club as well as a suspension of Fitness Center privileges. In addition to these rules, please remember the following: All children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Athletic attire and closed-toed athletic shoes must be worn. Showers, water fountain and towel service are not available. The water bottle filling station is
active. Please bring your own water and towels and take them with you when you leave.
Please contact me if you have any questions regarding Fitness Center usage. Drew Tanner, Director of Fitness 816.505.4254 andrewt@thenationalgolfclub.com
