Dear Member, Over the past several weeks, we have each experienced a level of worry and uncertainty that we’ve probably never experienced before. Like many of you, I am trying to keep up with the latest news from the CDC.gov website, keep calm and focus on what I can do rather than what I can’t control. Thanks to our supportive ownership group and dedicated executive team, that is exactly what we are doing at The Deuce and The National Golf Clubs.

Andrew “Drew” & Sarah Hoffman Andrew Lewis

With a single-minded purpose aimed at doing what we can to help our members and residents, we have rallied, gotten creative and forged ahead with new initiatives and services. Some of these include …  extended to-go service, available 7 days a week, 8a to 7p  expanded to-go menu with new breakfast options  grocery ordering service to provide the supplies you need  virtual fitness classes to keep you healthy and moving Details on these programs may be found in this issue. If you have creative ideas you’d like to share or if I may be of any assistance to you, please let me know. Stay safe and stay well!

Dear Members, These are unprecedented times for all of us on many levels. As we try to maintain our golf course to the highest level possible, we are reminded each day how this coronavirus pandemic is affecting our lives. Here are a few things we are doing to keep our members safe: FLAGSTICKS:  Golfers are asked not to touch flagsticks on the course. A PVC insert has been placed at the bottom of the cup to raise the hole 2.5 inches, making ball retrieval ball easier and reduces the chance of touching the flagstick or cup.  Flagsticks are disinfected two to three times per day.  Flagsticks on the putting greens have been removed.

BUNKER RAKES:  Bunker rakes have been removed from the course for your safety. For now, the GCM team will take care of grooming the bunkers each morning and throughout the day, as needed. We’re also doing things a little differently internally to keep our associates safe and well:  We check in with our associates each day to get an update on their health. As I write this, we have thankfully had

no associate fall ill to this virus.  The shop area and work equipment are disinfected two to three times per day.  We practice safe social distancing from one another at all times.  Regular staff meetings are held to update the team on the virus and to reinforce personal safety measures they

need to take such as frequent hand washing and avoiding touching their faces. March was a very wet month with four inches of rain. Despite the wet conditions, your Golf Course Maintenance team did a superb job of getting aerification completed. We are working on some drainage projects and have started spring fertilization to prepare for the season. Pansies are being planted around the Clubhouse to add a touch of spring color. Stay safe and healthy. Hopefully we can get back to normal soon! Best regards, Gary Sailer, CGCS Director of Golf Course Maintenance garys@fivestarlifestyles.com

Dear Members, In alignment with local ordinances and in order to keep the golf course open for member use during this unprecedented time, we strongly remind everyone of the following rules. For the safety and health of our members and staff, it is imperative that these rules be taken very seriously by each and every member. These rules will be strictly enforced. There can be no exceptions.  No Club carts available; Club-approved personal carts only allowed.  Walking is permitted; personal push carts are allowed.  One person per cart.  If you live under the same roof, you may ride together in the same cart.  Members only; NO GUESTS.  Scorecards, pencils and hole location sheets will be available outside the Golf Shop in individual envelopes.  Members MUST book tee times on ForeTees or call the Golf Shop to make your tee time.

No unscheduled play is permitted.  Golfers are asked not to touch the flagsticks on the course. An insert has been placed at the bottom of the flag-

stick to make it easier to retrieve the ball. Flagsticks are disinfected by the GCM team two to three times daily.

 Please do not congregate around the Clubhouse or patios after your round is over.

Further safety measures that have been taken include the removal of putting green flagsticks, on-course coolers and bunker rakes. The Practice Facility is closed at this time. Although the Golf Shop remains closed, a Golf Professional will be present from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Sunday (closed Tuesday) should you have any questions or concerns. Please call 816.505.0650 if you need assistance. We understand these rules may not be very popular but are necessary and extremely important in helping to halt the spread of the coronavirus. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Nic Ingram Director of Golf nicholasi@thenationalgolfclub.com

Dear Member, Your Food & Beverage team is working diligently to provide you and your family with the services you need. Although The Deuce Grill is closed at this time, The National Clubhouse has extended to-go service to 7 days a week (to include Mondays) and have added new breakfast options that are available as early as 8a. In addition, our professional culinary staff has added weekly to-go specials to provide you with more variety. As a result of the “stay-at-home” ordinance, we recently rolled out a “Groceries & More” service so that you may order the food supplies you need and can safely pick them up curbside at The National Clubhouse. Safety measures have been put into place within The National Clubhouse to keep associates as safe as possible. We have limited the number of staff members scheduled at one time and have, instead, staggered their schedules to adhere to social distancing recommendations by the CDC and local authorities. We have increased the duration and frequency of disinfecting work areas and are taking great care in preparing and packaging all of your food orders. With Easter right around the corner, our talented and hard-working culinary team, led by Executive Chef Kenneth Hornbeck and Sous Chef Gary Shirley, have created a special “Easter Dinner To-Go” menu which you’ll find on the next page. Although we’d love nothing more than to have our Dining Room filled with members for Easter Brunch … this is the next best thing we can offer. We hope you’ll take advantage of the great menu and place your order soon. Stay well and please contact me if I may be of any assistance to you.

Our curbside carry-out meals are being well received and now, with the city-wide "stay-at-home" ordinance in effect, we are proud to offer grocery services as well. Our grocery list contains nearly 70 items ranging from chicken to beef … cereal to milk … cheese to potatoes … and even toilet paper! Some of the items are bulk packaged so please don’t be alarmed at quantities. We are also offering liquor, beer and wine options. These alcoholic items may only be ordered and pick-up up curbside by an adult (age 21+). The ordering process is as easy as placing a carry-out dining order. We will be taking grocery orders twice each week for the foreseeable future. Orders placed by noon on Mondays will be available for pick-up between 3p to 7p on Tuesdays. Orders placed by noon on Thursdays will be available for pick-up between 3p to 7p on Fridays. If you need the grocery list emailed to you, please call the Clubhouse at 816.746.0200. Then, just give us a call at the same number when you’re ready to place your order. We are taking the “stay-at-home” ordinance very seriously. The safety and health of our members and neighbors cannot be undervalued. Please help us keep you safe by staying home and ordering the food supplies you need through us. Page 5

Who is eligible to take the virtual fitness classes? The National is proud to offer these classes, free of charge, to EVERYONE … members and non-members alike. We believe it is extremely important for all of us to keep moving and get plenty of exercise for our physical and mental well-being during this stressful time.

It has it been a while since I've worked out. Can I still participate?

Absolutely. Each instructor will show you how to modify the class to meet your experience level. Based on what size weights you use, you may personally tailor the workout to make it as easy or as difficult as you would like.

What equipment will I need?

It is ideal to have a yoga mat, light weights (2-15 pound weights are recommended, depending on your fitness level) and an old kitchen or hand towel.

What if I don’t have the equipment needed?

No problem! Instead of weights, use two full water bottles or canned goods as a substitute. Instead of yoga blocks, use a small book or small box.

How do I join a class?

The website address for each class will need to be typed into your web browser address panel. Once you enter the website address, you should be directed to the ZOOM website. Then, enter the appropriate ID Number.

What if I have problems joining a class or the link won’t work?

If you are experiencing any problems joining a class with the link provided, please contact Director of Fitness, Drew Tanner, at 401.316.5659 or email him at andrewt@thenationalgolfclub.com. Drew will help “troubleshoot” your problem.
