DOCTOR OF MEDICINE (MD)

A four-year course of study with emphasis on social accountability and research. We prepare you for licensure and postgraduate study in any specialty.

COMBINED MD AND PROFESSIONAL MBA DEGREE IN HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT

This MD/MBA, offered in collaboration with the FIU College of Business, will increase your understanding of U.S. and international health care systems, health care operations and management, and enhance your ability to make complex business decisions—critical skills for the practice and administration of medicine.

COMBINED MD AND MPH DEGREE

Offered in collaboration with the FIU Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work, this MD/MPH provides the knowledge to deliver health care on an individual level and the expertise to handle widespread population health and diseases.

MD AND MSHIA DEGREE

The Master of Science in Health Informatics and Analytics prepares MD students with digital health training in electronic health record systems, clinical decision support, data visualization and interpretation, and health-related knowledge management. This combined degree is a collaboration with the FIU College of Business.

7-YEAR BS/MD ACCELERATED PATHWAY PROGRAM

The 7-year (3+4) BS/M.D. program enables exceptional high school students to complete a B.S. in Biological Sciences and an M.D. at Florida International University in seven years through a partnership between the College of Arts, Sciences & Education, the Honors College, and the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.

Year 1 – Clinical Epidemiology & Evidence-Based Healthcare Course: Introduces key concepts to design, interpret, and apply research in clinical and public health contexts.

Year 1 to 4 – Research Scholarship Course:

Builds competence to lead projects of intermediate complexity, focusing on common research methodologies. Get hands-on experience designing, developing, and executing your own research project.

n Apply through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS).

n Fill out FIU Medicine secondary application (sent to you after AMCAS verification). Please note that $30 application fee is non-refundable.

October 1 –Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

October 15 – Regular MD program applicants may be notified of admissions decisions

December 1 – Deadline to submit the AMCAS primary application

January 15 – Deadline to submit the FIU Medicine secondary application and letters of recommendation via the AMCAS Letter Service

April 15 – AAMC Application and Acceptance Protocols recommends accepted students narrow acceptance offers down to three medical Schools

April 30 –Students may hold only one acceptance after this date per AAMC traffic rules

July – Onboarding begins
