THE BRITISH MOTOR YACHT SHOW
14–17 May 2026 | Swanwick Marina, River Hamble
For many along the Sandbanks peninsula, life is already oriented towards the water. Views stretch across Poole Harbour. Weekends revolve around tides, forecasts and the open sea. Yet for some, there comes a moment when coastal living evolves into something more - the decision to own a motor yacht capable of crossing not just the Channel, but seasons and horizons.
That ownership journey can begin closer to home than expected.
From 14 – 17 May 2026, the British Motor Yacht Show returns for its 13th edition at Swanwick Marina - an appointment-led showcase created specifically for those considering the next chapter of life on the water.
Clarity, not crowds
Unlike larger commercial boat shows, the British Motor Yacht Show was founded by Premier Marinas together with British yacht builders Fairline, Princess Yachts and Sunseeker to offer something more considered.
Here, visits are pre-booked. Conversations are unhurried. The pontoons are calm.
For prospective owners, this environment matters. Choosing a yacht is rarely impulsive. It is about lifestyle alignment - how you cruise, where you intend to berth, whether summers will be spent in Salcombe, the South of France or further afield. The show’s format allows space to ask the questions that truly shape ownership: range, crew configuration, maintenance planning, resale strategy.
In short, it is about clarity rather than spectacle.
Defining your style of cruising
The 2026 edition marks a landmark year, entering its 13th season with the largest combined showcase the founding boat brands will
present anywhere in the UK this year.
Among the highlights is the European debut of the new Fairline Targa 47 GT - a model that speaks directly to modern owner-drivers. With its glassbridge helm, refined performance and versatile layout, it embodies the blend of sport and sophistication increasingly sought by South Coast buyers.
Alongside the extensive displays from Fairline, Princess and Sunseeker, visitors will encounter a carefully curated selection of leading UK dealers and international brands. Ancasta will present brands including Beneteau, Bluegame, Prestige and Protector, while Argo Yachting brings Pardo, Galeon and Saxdor to the Hamble.
Scandinavian performance specialists will also feature, with Saltwater Solutions showcasing Windy, and SE Yachts presenting Navan and Delta Powerboats.
Respected British and European craftsmanship will be further represented by DALE Motor Yachts, Dutch yard B. Van den Hoven Jachtbouw and Cornwall-based Cockwells, known for its Hardy and Duchy ranges.
The result is a line-up that reflects not volume, but calibre.
For Sandbanks residents, this is where aspiration becomes tangible. You can step aboard, sense the proportions, assess the galley for entertaining, stand at the helm and picture the run from Poole to the Solent - or Cannes to Monaco.
The architecture behind the lifestyle
Behind every seemingly effortless summer lies thoughtful preparation.
Returning main sponsor CGI Finance provides bespoke marine finance solutions tailored to high-value acquisitions, while Pelican Insured joins as main sponsor for 2026, offering specialist expertise in insurance and risk management.
These conversations take place quietly alongside yacht viewings — structuring ownership efficiently, protecting Mediterranean cruising plans, mapping long-term berthing and servicing strategies. It is this integrated approach that transforms interest into intention.
Where the season begins
Positioned at the opening of the European boating calendar, the British Motor Yacht Show is less spectacle, more springboard. Decisions refined here in May often shape the entire summer ahead.
For the Sandbanks community, the proximity is compelling.
Within little more than an hour’s drive, you can transition from harbour views to one of the UK’s most prestigious luxury motor yacht showcases — appointments secured, conversations underway, possibilities expanding.
And, refreshingly, arrival is as seamless as the setting itself. Onsite parking at Swanwick Marina allows visitors to step from car to pontoon with quiet ease — a fitting detail in an experience defined by discretion.
The British Motor Yacht Show: 14 – 17 May 2026
Swanwick Marina, River Hamble. Entry is free. Advance registration required at BritishMotorYachtShow.com

A NEW CHAPTER AT THE TANDY
Tucked into the heart of Sandbanks’ vibrant coastal scene, The Tandy has recently entered an exciting new chapter. Thoughtfully repositioned, it’s a stylish yet welcoming neighbourhood bar and eatery where locals gather, visitors linger, and every occasion, from morning coffee to celebratory cocktails, feels effortlessly special by the sea.
At its core, The Tandy is about community. Designed to welcome all ages and lifestyles, it’s equally popular with families returning for a traditional Sunday roast, friends meeting for coffee after a sea swim, or couples settling in for an intimate evening of small plates, wine and the occasional board game. Regular happenings such as Wine Club and live music evenings ensure there is always something new to discover.
The culinary direction reflects this inclusive yet elevated ethos. A Mediterranean-inspired small-plates menu encourages sharing and sociability, blending crowd-pleasing favourites with conversation-starting dishes like fried burrata and cockle popcorn. The approach is casual yet carefully curated, an experience that feels sophisticated without losing the relaxed Sandbanks spirit.
Daytime at The Tandy has its own distinctive rhythm. The Coffee Club attracts early risers, dog walkers and swimmers, while wellness-focused breakfasts featuring ingredients such as matcha and house-made granola offer a nourishing start to the day. It’s the kind of place where school-run coffees become lingering chats, with many guests returning later for lunch, supper or evening drinks.
In the evenings, a premium cocktail list, complete with theatrical touches like branded ice and martinis served in chilled carafes, positions The Tandy among the area’s most stylish drinking destinations. Thoughtfully crafted low- and no-alcohol options ensure everyone can enjoy the experience, reflecting the venue’s forwardthinking hospitality.
Seasonal celebrations and community moments add to the sense that The Tandy is woven into Sandbanks life, from menus celebrating local producers to special events and live music gatherings that bring neighbours together. Whether you’re dropping in for coffee, gathering for Sunday lunch or celebrating with friends, each visit feels personal and memorable.
In a destination known for its discerning tastes, The Tandy stands out by doing something deceptively simple: creating a warm, elegant space where community and occasion meet again and again.

A CHANGING LANDSCAPE IN Sandbanks and Canford Cliffs
As the property landscape evolves in Sandbanks and Canford Cliffs, one local agency has been quietly strengthening its position through technology, experience and an increasingly global reach.
The upper end of the Poole property market has always evolved quietly rather than dramatically. Yet over the past year, subtle shifts have begun to reshape the local agency landscape.
“Growth has been deliberate. The aim is not to handle the most homes but to handle the right ones well.”
With the closure of established offices and newcomers entering the market, many homeowners have been considering where the next generation of local expertise will come from. Increasingly, attention has turned to a business that has spent the last decade patiently building its presence across Sandbanks, Lilliput and Canford Cliffs, Philippa Sole Ltd.
CELEBRATING A DECADE
Founded in 2016 and celebrating its 10th year, the agency has grown steadily through recommendation and reputation rather than
rapid expansion. Its approach is intentionally measured; a smaller, specialist team focusing on a limited number of homes, often handling a significant proportion of transactions discreetly through private networks before properties ever reach the open market.
A BORDERLESS AUDIENCE
That local knowledge is paired with an unexpectedly international audience. Buyers registered with the business are now spread across the UK and overseas, reflecting both the global appeal of the Sandbanks Peninsula and the agency’s borderless marketing approach. In recent years, enquiries have arrived from Europe,
North America and Asia - a reminder that prime coastal property is increasingly a global asset class rather than purely a regional market.
INVESTING IN SMART SYSTEMS, PERSONAL SERVICE
Behind the scenes, the company has been quietly investing in the infrastructure required to support that growth. Marketing remains a central focus, with the business investing around £70,000 each year to ensure properties are presented and promoted at the highest level.
During 2025 the business transitioned its entire CRM and client communication platform to Street technology, an award-winning system that allows sellers, landlords and buyers to follow viewings, feedback and negotiations in real time. The result is a more transparent process for clients, while freeing the team to focus on
THE DETAILS

Philippa Sole Ltd 3a Springfield Road Ashley Cross, Poole BH14
The lettings division has also strengthened significantly, with its full-management portfolio growing by approximately 20 per cent over the past year. Alongside this expansion, property management is being brought increasingly in-house, supported by digital systems that allow landlords to monitor maintenance, documentation and financial reporting from a single platform.
BUILT FOR THE LONG TERM
Internally, the business has taken an equally considered approach to growth. Rather than expanding rapidly, the team has been assembled around individual strengths, blending long-standing local estate agency expertise, with many having previously worked at established agencies within BH13 and BH14, with experience from sectors from engineering to media, bringing both perspective and ambition to the business.
At a time when the market is adjusting to new economic and legislative pressures, the formula appears to be working. In an industry often defined by scale, Philippa Sole Ltd is demonstrating the enduring strength of something else entirely; local knowledge, patience and persistence.

An in-resort driver service and pre-arranged equipment hire and lift passes remove the usual holiday logistics, leaving you free to enjoy the moment.
Beyond skiing, Arosa offers memorable winter experiences that add to the Festive spirit. Ice skating, winter walks through snow covered forests and traditional village
celebrations all contribute to the magic of the season.
Flims: Expansive terrain and Festive atmosphere
Flims offers a different but equally compelling Festive setting. The Belle Tout Lighthouse, Beachy Head
Perched dramatically on the chalk cliffs of Beachy Head, the Belle Tout Lighthouse is far more than a place to stay – it is a living monument to Britain’s coastal heritage. Built in 1832 and decommissioned in 1902, this striking granite tower has lived many lives: tea shop, private home, wartime casualty during the Second World War, BBC filming location, and even physically moved inland in the 1990s to escape coastal erosion. Today, beautifully restored and thoughtfully renovated, it stands resilient against the sea winds, offering guests a truly singular experience.
With sweeping 360-degree views across the English Channel, the rolling South Downs countryside, and the iconic chalk formations of the Seven Sisters, Belle Tout offers scenery that feels almost
cinematic. From the breathtaking Lantern Room, visitors can watch the sun dissolve into the horizon, casting golden light over the distant Beachy Head Lighthouse below – a view that alone makes a stay unforgettable.
Inside, the themed rooms – from the nautical charm of the “Captain’s Cabin” to the rustic elegance of “Old England” and the character-filled “Keeper’s Loft” – balance history with comfort. The cosy guest lounge, especially inviting on blustery days, allows guests to warm themselves by the fire while taking in the atmosphere of this remarkable clifftop retreat.
Beyond the lighthouse, the nearby seaside town of Eastbourne offers classic Victorian charm, elegant promenades and a traditional pier. The surrounding coastline provides spectacular walking routes, hidden coves and sweeping views that attract photographers and nature lovers alike.
The local food scene is equally appealing. Visitors can enjoy an abundance of fresh, locally sourced seafood, seasonal Sussex produce and comforting British classics served in welcoming coastal settings. From relaxed seafront dining to cosy countryside inns and contemporary cafés, the area offers something to suit every taste.
Belle Tout Lighthouse is not simply accommodation; it is an experience rooted in history, landscape and atmosphere – the only hotel and B&B at Beachy Head, and undoubtedly one of Britain’s most extraordinary coastal escapes. info@belletout.co.uk 01323 423 185

UNIQUE HOMESTAYS TURNS 25
Celebrating a quarter century of extraordinary escapes
Twenty-five years ago, with £500 in her pocket and an instinct that travel could be more meaningful, Sarah Stanley founded Unique Homestays from a desk in her Cornish cottage.
A quarter century later, the brand has become one of the most quietly influential names in British travel, curating a portfolio comprising over 180 of the UK and Ireland’s most extraordinary private rental homes.
From beach houses in Cornwall shaped by salt and wind, to treacle-toned cottages in the Cotswolds, to remote retreats overlooking the lochs of the Isle of Skye, the collection stretches from coast to mountain – each setting chosen for its ability to restore and reconnect.
Every home is selected for something harder to define than simply aesthetics. These are spaces shaped by the lives lived within them; places where design is personal, settings are soulstirring and no two stays feel the same.
The idea was sparked during Sarah’s travels in India and Australia, where “homestays” offered an invitation into someone else’s world. And that spirit still underpins the collection today.
While guests are no longer hosted at the kitchen table, the feeling remains: stepping inside somewhere that feels layered, considered and deeply individual.
In a crowded market, Unique Homestays has stayed deliberately selective. Quality over quantity; character over convention. A collection built slowly and thoughtfully, over time.
“Ultimately, we want our homestays to feel like you’re staying with a good friend or dear family member,” explains Sarah. “You step through that front door and you enter a world of ease. You feel instantly relaxed and comfortable in a space you can call your own – for however long you need. And, when it’s time to leave, you can’t wait to return; to create experiences that linger long after you’ve returned home. True luxury isn’t something you can buy; it’s something you feel.”
Twenty-five years on, it continues to prove that where you stay shapes how you feel – and that the right place can linger long after you leave.

A NEW CHAPTER AT COBBLEACRE: INTRODUCING THE WILDS
In the heart of the Norfolk countryside, where skies stretch wide and evenings settle gently over still water, a new chapter has begun at Cobbleacre Park.
The story of Cobbleacre started with a happy accident.
When Trevor Seales set out to drain a waterlogged meadow for grazing cattle, the drainage instead formed what would become the original Cobbleacre lake. Over time, that unexpected beginning shaped the future of the land, evolving into the family-run holiday park enjoyed today.
Now, a new generation has added its own mark.
The Wilds is a thoughtfully created lakeside glamping retreat, a quieter, more intimate extension of Cobbleacre Park. Designed with families and couples in mind, it blends the freedom of the outdoors with the comfort of considered living.
Each safari tent sleeps up to six guests and features a wood burner, private bathroom, separate bath, outdoor fire pit, and hot tub.
Days are spent beside the water, evenings gathered
around the fire, and clear nights invite guests to experience Norfolk’s celebrated dark skies.
While The Wilds offers a sense of seclusion, guests also benefit from Cobbleacre’s wider setting, peaceful parkland, fishing lakes, and the reassurance of a long-established, family-run destination.
At its heart, The Wilds is about slowing down. About stepping away from busy schedules and reconnecting with nature and with each other. It offers a balance of comfort and countryside, where simple pleasures take centre stage and time feels unhurried.
Bookings are now open for The Wilds, welcoming guests to experience lakeside glamping in one of Norfolk’s most tranquil settings.

Lakeside Glamping Under Norfolk’s Dark Skies
Tucked within the peaceful surroundings of Cobbleacre Park, The Wilds is a new lakeside glamping retreat designed for families and couples seeking space, calm, and connection.
Set beside the water and beneath wide Norfolk skies, three beautiful safari tents offer comfort under canvas, blending nature with thoughtful luxury. Cosy wood burners, private bathrooms and outdoor fire pits, create a setting for slow mornings and starlit evenings.
Cobbleacre Park itself is a family-run destination shaped over generations, born from the creation of its original lake and now home to touring, holiday homes, and tranquil countryside stays.
The Wilds is its newest chapter, a quieter corner created for those who wish to escape the everyday and rediscover the outdoors.
We’ve all been there. Ten-tabs deep in-flight options, hotel reviews, and “must-see” lists. Why does organising time away so often feel like a job in itself?
We sat down with Carsten Lund, founder of TRIPLA, to hear why he believes travel should feel effortless, and how his own experiences have inspired a different approach.
Q&A with
YOUR HOLIDAY SHOULDN’T BE HARD WORK
Carsten Lund, Founder
of TRIPLA
Q. Carsten, you’ve spent a lifetime travelling. What stands out most from those experiences?
I’ve been lucky to see the world through both a luxury and practical lens—from barefoot private-island escapes to cultural weekends in Europe and ultra-luxury cruises. What always stands out is how much detail matters. The transfer that’s waiting without fuss, or the restaurant that genuinely delivers. It’s those small touches that turn a good trip into a truly memorable one.
Q. Many of us know the stress of planning holidays. What do you think makes it so challenging?
Time, mostly. Travel should be restorative, but organising it often isn’t. One multigenerational family wanted a milestone birthday in Tuscany for but felt overwhelmed by villa and travel choices. We found a home that suited everyone, arranged a night with a private chef and a wine tasting. What began as a logistical headache became a celebration and holiday they’ll never forget.
Q. When we were chatting before this interview, you said luxury is about “ease.” What does that mean to you?
To me, true luxury is when everything flows. It doesn’t always mean extravagant, but it does mean thoughtful. A wellness retreat
where transfers, spa treatments and mountain hikes are coordinated seamlessly. Or a short city break where flights, hotel and dinner reservations are taken care of. It’s not about the price tag—it’s about removing stress and creating something personal. Travel has become less about ticking off destinations and more about creating moments that stay with you.
Q. And finally, what do you hope clients feel when they travel with TRIPLA?
Peace of mind, really. Travel has become less about ticking off destinations and more about creating moments that stay with you. That feeling of being looked after so they can just enjoy the experience. Whether it’s a river cruise with private excursions, a birthday in Tuscany, or a quick Parisian escape between board meetings, I want them to feel it was designed just for them. And that they never had to worry about the details.

THE ART OF A CORNISH SUMMER
There is a quiet elegance to summer on the North Cornish coast. A sense of ease shaped by space, light and days lived in step with the sea. It’s the understated approach to luxury that defines a stay with Latitude50.
High summer here is about living well, without overthinking it. Mornings begin with sunlight spilling through open doors and sea air drifting into kitchens designed for gatherings. Bare feet trace a familiar path between house and terrace, coffee in hand, eyes drawn instinctively towards the horizon where the Atlantic glimmers below, calm one moment, exhilarating the next.
From sweeping headlands to sheltered bays, the coastline offers a varied yet connected experience. Homes sit comfortably within the landscape, where architecture and setting exist in quiet harmony. Expansive glazing frames coastal views, terraces are positioned for all-day sun, and gardens naturally encourage a slower pace. Some properties flaunt private pools catching the light throughout the day; others sit moments from the sand, where early swims and evening walks quickly become part of the daily rhythm.
Indoors, the mood is relaxed yet refined. Open living spaces invite togetherness, while quieter corners offer space to pause with a book, a view, a moment of stillness. As the day unfolds, kitchens
flow seamlessly outdoors, setting the scene for long lunches, barefoot suppers and unhurried evenings beneath softening skies.
This approach to coastal living sits at the heart of Latitude50, a boutique holiday brand rooted in North Cornwall. Their carefully curated collection of homes across Rock, Daymer Bay, Polzeath and Port Isaac are chosen not just for location, but for how each home feels to arrive at, settle into and slowly unwind within.
What defines a Cornish summer is not spectacle, but feeling. Unhurried. Considered. Gently indulgent. It’s the freedom to leave doors open, plans loose and time unstructured. To savour the luxury of space, privacy and time spent beside one of Britain’s most beautiful coastlines.

ALDERNEY: THE CHANNEL ISLAND YOU’LL LOSE YOUR HEART TO
Alderney feels like a best-kept secret – and that is precisely its appeal. Often overlooked in favour of its larger neighbours, this small Channel Island quietly captures the heart of those who make the journey. It may be tiny, but its charm lingers long after you leave.
As the northernmost of the Channel Islands and the closest to the south coast of Great Britain, Alderney is surprisingly easy to reach. Direct flights from Southampton take just 40 minutes, while travelling via Guernsey adds a gentle island-hopping element. The final approach on Aurigny’s small Twin Otter aircraft is unforgettable, revealing turquoise seas, white beaches and rugged headlands below.
Life here moves at a gentler pace. With few cars and short distances, the island is best explored on foot or by bike. Days unfold naturally – a walk along dramatic cliff paths, an afternoon on a quiet beach, and dinner enjoyed slowly as the sun sets over the sea.
Despite being just eight miles from the French coast, Alderney remains refreshingly uncommercialised. Around 40 miles of footpaths cross the island, leading to sweeping viewpoints, sandy bays and encounters with remarkable wildlife. Internationally recognised for its birdlife, Alderney is home to extraordinary seabird
colonies at Les Etacs and Burhou, where gannets and puffins gather in spectacular numbers. Dolphins and grey seals are often spotted in surrounding waters.
As night falls, the island reveals another rare luxury: truly dark skies. With little light pollution, stargazing is exceptional, with the Milky Way often stretching across the horizon.
History is woven throughout the landscape, from Neolithic dolmens and Roman remains to Napoleonic towers and Victorian forts. At the island’s heart lies St Anne, a charming town of cobbled streets, independent shops and welcoming cafés.
Dining celebrates fresh local produce, particularly seafood, served in relaxed restaurants and cosy pubs. Add boutique stays, coastal adventures and a lively events calendar, and Alderney offers the perfect balance of tranquillity and discovery.
Plan your island escape at visitalderney.com
Tucked into the rolling countryside of the Weald, our glamping and camping retreat in Cranbrook offers a slower, softer way to escape. Just a 20-minute stroll from the town’s welcoming pubs, restaurants and independent shops, our off-grid haven blends rural simplicity with thoughtful comfort, and a generous sense of space.
Every pitch and tent has room to breathe. Our grass camping pitches invite you to return to the basics: canvas, campfire and a sky full of stars. Campfires are warmly welcomed here, and with minimal lighting across the site, evenings unfold beneath some of Kent’s most spectacular night skies. Being proudly offgrid means there’s no electrical hook-up, just the gentle rhythm of nature, and our eco-friendly composting loos reflect our commitment to treading lightly on the land.
For those seeking a little more comfort, our ‘naked’ bell tents offer the perfect in-between. Each comes with a proper bed and private bathroom, while leaving space for you to bring your own bedding and cooking set-up — camping, elevated. Our ‘luxury’ bell tents, meanwhile, are fully dressed for indulgence: a thoughtfully styled interior, a well-equipped kitchen complete with cookware, crockery and utensils (simply bring your own food), a private loo and shower, and a comfortable bed dressed ready for your arrival.
Families and small groups will love our spacious safari tents, sleeping up to five guests.
With an indoor kitchen, private bathroom and cosy seating area, they combine the adventure of canvas living with the ease of a holiday cottage.
And for those marking a special occasion, we offer the option to hire the
Starfield Glamping & Camping
entire site for weddings, birthdays, and gatherings — a rare chance to gather your favourite people in a private pocket of countryside.
Beyond the site, you’re perfectly placed to explore some of Kent’s treasures, from the romantic gardens of Sissinghurst Castle to the towering trees of Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest and the iconic sails of Cranbrook Windmill.
On site, the café, country store, and farm shop & nursery, open seven days a week, bring the best of local produce to your doorstep. Come for the fresh air. Stay for the stillness. Leave restored. starfieldcamping.co.uk
Ride. Explore. Escape.
There is something quietly magical about exploring the countryside by e-bike. Effortless enough to feel indulgent, immersive enough to feel like a genuine adventure, it offers a way to slow down, travel further and notice more along the way.
Cranborne Chase Escapes creates private guided and self-guided electric bike experiences across one of southern England’s most beautiful and lesser-known landscapes. Rolling chalk downland, wide skies, winding lanes and rewarding viewpoints set the tone, with carefully chosen routes that balance gentle effort with time to pause, explore, and enjoy the journey.
E-bikes make the experience wonderfully inclusive. Hills become manageable, distances feel achievable and groups can ride together at an easy, sociable pace. Couples, friends, families, and small groups are free to focus on conversation, scenery, and shared moments rather than speed or stamina.
Every ride is thoughtfully tailored. Guests can opt for leisurely pub loops, longer countryside explorations, or more adventurous off-road sections, depending on appetite and mood. High-quality electric bikes are delivered directly to your accommodation, fully equipped
and ready to ride, keeping logistics simple and the day refreshingly unhurried. For those arriving by train, discreet collection and dropoff from Salisbury can also be arranged.
What truly defines Cranborne Chase Escapes is its emphasis on quiet, restorative travel. This is not about ticking off miles or chasing performance. It is about discovering hidden corners, lingering at viewpoints, stopping for coffee in villages you might otherwise pass through, and returning with the satisfying sense of having properly experienced a place.
Whether enjoyed as a relaxed day away from the city, a highlight of a countryside stay or a memorable way to spend time with friends, these rides offer something rare: a feeling of freedom without rush, adventure without pressure, and connection without distraction.
Big skies. Chalk tracks. Pub stops. A slower, more rewarding way to roam.
Designed for guests who value quality over quantity, each experience reflects local knowledge, careful planning, and a genuine love of the landscape, creating days that remain in the memory long after the bikes are returned and everyday routines resume at home again. cranbornechase.com

“The train winds past cliffs, coves and sparkling seas before arriving in one of Britain’s most captivating regions”
Promises pure enchantment. The Scottish capital glows with twinkling lights, historic streets and a magical Christmas market, while optional experiencesincluding a private dinner aboard The Royal Yacht Britannia and a lunch travelling over the Forth Bridge - add an unforgettable flourish. Guests may stay in one of our handpicked hotels on a bed-and-breakfast basis or choose to book their own accommodation.
For those seeking a different kind of escape this year, these journeys offer a world apart from the everyday. steamdreams.co.uk
There is a particular kind of escape that more of us are seeking now; not simply a night away but a genuine pause. Beautiful scenery, open skies, a place where nature sets the pace. At Carvers Hill Estate, Wiltshire’s finest vineyard and winery, that pause comes with a glass of exceptional English wine.
Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and just a short journey from London, Carvers Hill is one of Wiltshire’s premium destinations. Visitors including Prue Leith and Michel Roux Jr. have wandered these vines, drawn by a shared curiosity: what happens when English terroir, meticulous craftsmanship and warm hospitality come together.
ESCAPE TO THE VINES: WILTSHIRE’S STUNNING OFF-GRID RETREAT FOR WINE LOVERS
The Estate’s Grand Tour offers an engaging introduction. Guests walk the vineyard to understand how the land shapes each vintage, before stepping into the winery for an unfiltered look at production. Small groups ensure the experience feels intimate and conversational
with exclusive tastings straight from the tank or barrel. Paired with a locally sourced lunch platter and generous servings of the finest wines – an unhurried opportunity to appreciate the craftsmanship behind each bottle.
However, it is after the tour that Carvers Hill truly fulfils its promise to help guests unwind. A short walk from the vines, cedarclad woodland cabins sit quietly between the trees. Completely off-grid, they entice guests to disconnect from the everyday and reconnect with something simpler; expansive countryside views from the kingsized bed, a cosy log burner and evenings spent under starlit skies. With vineyard stays in such short supply across the UK, the opportunity to spend the night on a working estate feels quietly special.
The luxury here is subtle but assured: beautifully crafted interiors, thoughtful design and the rare pleasure of privacy within a landscape that feels untouched. To awake on a vineyard, coffee in hand, with no schedule beyond the rhythm of the day, is still a unique experience in Britain.
For those seeking an escape that blends nature, craftsmanship and calm, Carvers Hill Estate offers a new kind of English retreat. carvershillestate.com
“We’ve used Hidden Lake as a shoot location a couple of times now. The space is huge with lots of shooting options both inside and out, the website pictures don’t do it justice. The size of the house makes production easy with plenty of space for kit and crew. The owner is super helpful and fast at getting back to you making pre-production a breeze. I’d definitely recommend it as a shoot location, and I’m sure we’ll be using it again!”

“What an unbelievable house. The actual house is even better in person than it looks in the photos. The view is really incredible, and waking up every day to views of the lake and the golf course was a real treat. Everything in the house is immaculate. Our kids loved the swimming pool and football pitch, and we loved the sauna, steam room and hot tub. There is so much to do in the house, and every room is beautifully designed and decorated. It is by far the best house we have ever been in, and we would love to come back in the future.”

BOURNEMOUTH COLLEGIATE SCHOOL:
A COMPLETE EDUCATION FROM 3 TO 18
Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions a parent will make. You are not simply choosing a place of academic instruction, but a community that will shape your child’s confidence, character and ambitions.
At Bournemouth Collegiate School (BCS), education is a continuous journey from Early Years through to Sixth Form - combining academic rigour with exceptional pastoral care.
With the Prep School located in Lower Parkstone, Poole and the Senior School and Sixth Form based in Southbourne, Bournemouth, families benefit from distinct yet closely connected environments that together form one cohesive school community.
A Nurturing and Ambitious Start at BCS Prep
The foundations for success are laid early at BCS Prep. From the moment children join in Early Years, they are immersed in a warm, purposeful environment where curiosity is celebrated and independence carefully nurtured. Guided by The Curiosity Approach, classrooms are designed to inspire awe and wonder, using authentic resources and open-ended experiences to
encourage exploration, creativity and deep thinking.
Learning blends structured teaching with discovery and imagination. Early literacy and numeracy are carefully built, ensuring pupils develop secure foundations alongside growing self-belief. Small class sizes mean teachers know each child well - their strengths, interests and next steps - enabling truly personalised support.
As pupils progress into Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, academic ambition grows alongside character development. A broad and balanced curriculum ensures strength in English and mathematics, while science, humanities, computing and the creative arts broaden understanding. Specialist teaching in languages, sport and the arts further enriches the experience.
Beyond the classroom, pupils benefit from competitive sport, musical performances, drama productions, clubs and educational visits. Our dedicated Forest School provides regular opportunities for children to learn in a woodland setting, developing resilience, teamwork and confidence. Leadership opportunities encourage responsibility and confidence from an early age. Throughout their journey, strong pastoral care ensures that every child feels secure, valued and happy - a crucial ingredient in lasting academic success.
Confident Progression into Senior School
The transition into the Senior School is seamless. Pupils arrive in Year 7 academically prepared and socially confident, ready to embrace greater independence. The Senior School builds on the Prep foundations with a broad curriculum leading to GCSEs, A Levels and vocational pathways.
Academic outcomes are consistently strong, supported by excellent value-added progress across a range of abilities. Teaching is ambitious yet supportive, encouraging pupils to think critically, debate confidently and develop intellectual independence.
The Sixth Form experience provides a distinctive bridge to adulthood. Students benefit from tailored mentoring, university and careers guidance, and opportunities such as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which fosters independent research and specialist academic exploration. Pupils progress to leading universities, apprenticeships and professional pathways equipped with clarity and confidence.
A Rich Co-Curricular Life
Across both sites, co-curricular life plays a central role in shaping well-rounded individuals. Sport is a particular strength, with opportunities for competitive fixtures and specialist coaching. The creative arts flourish through drama productions, music ensembles and art showcases. Trips, outdoor education and leadership initiatives broaden horizons and strengthen teamwork and resilience.
Flexible boarding options, including weekly and flexi boarding, provide additional structure and independence for families who value a supportive community beyond the school day.
A Community with Character
What truly distinguishes Bournemouth Collegiate School is its sense of community. From Early Years through to Sixth Form, pupils are known as individuals and encouraged to contribute positively to school life. Respect, kindness and ambition are embedded into daily routines, creating an environment where children feel safe to challenge
themselves and grow.
Parents value the partnership approach and the open communication that ensures they remain closely involved in their child’s progress and wellbeing.
BCS offers more than academic milestones; it offers a complete educational journey. From the nurturing environment of the Prep School to the ambitious and future-focused Senior and Sixth Form experience, pupils are prepared not only for examinations, but for life - with curiosity, resilience and character at the heart of everything they do.

A ROSY FUTURE: STUNNING NEW SPACES
ANNOUNCED AT DULWICH’S LEADING PREP SCHOOL
Rosemead Preparatory School and Nursery, Dulwich, has unveiled plans for its new Pre-School and Reception classrooms, set to open in September 2026. These purpose-designed environments will offer children an inspiring, contemporary, and nurturing start to their educational journey, supporting the school’s commitment to shaping brilliant futures.
The project represents a significant investment in early childhood education, creating spaces that are immersive, flexible, and designed to ignite curiosity from the very start of school life.
The Pre-School and Reception development represents the beginning of a wider vision for Rosemead Preparatory School. Over the next
several years, the school will embark on a phased programme of redevelopment designed to modernise and enhance the entire site.
This long-term plan will focus on creating contemporary, flexible and future-ready spaces that support exceptional teaching and learning at every stage.
“Rosemead is entering a hugely exciting chapter, and I look forward to working closely with families, colleagues, and, of course, the children as we shape the next stage of the school’s development together”
This initial phase signals the school’s commitment to sustained investment in its facilities, ensuring that every child benefits from an environment that inspires confidence, creativity and a love of learning.
The new Pre-School space has been thoughtfully designed around a calming, organic aesthetic using a soft palette of pale lilac and earthy greens. Each aspect of the environment has been crafted to support young children’s wellbeing, focus and
imagination. Distinct areas will be defined through bold interactive features and gentle flooring transitions will encourage exploration and independent learning, while soft seating features introduce warmth and personality. The result is a space that feels modern and and deeply child-centred, giving the youngest pupils the freedom to learn, play and grow in an enriching environment.
The Reception classrooms build on the Pre-School’s ethos with a scheme that pairs a neutral base and soft green palette with uplifting, purple-toned accents. This creates a fresh, nature-inspired atmosphere that supports cognitive development and play-based learning. Purposefully designed activity and work areas will promote collaboration, creativity and early social skills. Flexibility and adaptability are central to the scheme, ensuring the space meets the needs of all learners.
Together, these new environments will provide pupils with the space and structure they need to thrive building confidence, independence and readiness for the next stage of their learning.
Speaking about the plans, Nick Hewlett, CEO of St Dunstan’s Education Group, said: ‘Across the Group, we are committed to creating learning environments that truly inspire young people and prepare them for the world they will inherit. These exceptional new spaces at Rosemead reflect our belief in educational excellence delivered differently where innovation, wellbeing and individuality come together to give every child the very best possible start.’
Alison Walsingham, Head of Operations at Rosemead, added: ‘This project represents a significant and exciting investment in the future of our school. We are working meticulously with our design partners to ensure these new spaces are not only beautiful but highly functional and sustainable. Every detail has been carefully considered to create environments where children and staff feel supported, inspired and able to thrive every day.’
This development comes at an especially exciting moment for Rosemead Preparatory School. Last year, the school was named Independent Prep School of the Year at the Tes Schools Awards
2025, widely regarded as the Oscars of education. The recognition celebrates Rosemead’s exceptional pastoral care, innovative approach to learning, and the strong sense of community that defines the school.
St Dunstan’s Education Group also announced Christopher Woodward as the new Head at Rosemead, effective from September 2026.
Mr Woodward is currently Head of Bassett House School in Notting Hill. During his time at Bassett House, Mr Woodward has led significant developments across all aspects of the educational provision. Prior to headship, Christopher spent a decade working at some of London’s most successful schools, including as Deputy Head of Newton Prep.
Speaking about his appointment, Mr Woodward, said: ‘I am delighted and deeply honoured to be appointed the next Head of Rosemead. From the moment I first visited, the school’s warm, joyful atmosphere and the genuine enthusiasm of its pupils and staff made a lasting impression on me.
‘Rosemead is entering a hugely exciting chapter, and I look forward to working closely with families, colleagues, and, of course, the children as we shape the next stage of the school’s development together. As a Dulwich resident, I am excited to play an active role in the local community. I was especially charmed that Lordship Lane, with all its energy and character, featured so prominently in my conversation with the Years 5 and 6 pupil panel; their pride in their neighbourhood was wonderful to see.’

Restoring the roots of childhood in a fast, high-tech world
LTom Carter, Head of St Christopher’s The Hall, Beckenham, discusses the school’s new initiative for pupils
ast year, we launched a new initiative that is already making a powerful difference to our pupils, The Horizon Programme. It was created in response to something teachers and parents are noticing everywhere: children are growing up in an increasingly digital world, and many of the practical skills, social habits and deeper patterns of thinking that once developed naturally are becoming less familiar. The Horizon Programme is our way of bringing those essential experiences back into daily school life.
We see bright, capable children who can access information instantly, yet sometimes hesitate when faced with open-ended problems. Many find it challenging to maintain focus in a world full of digital distractions, and collaborative, face-to-face work can require more practice than it once did. Opportunities to build, create, explore and persevere, cornerstones of childhood, are becoming less frequent in a screen-led culture.
Horizon responds to this directly. Each week, pupils in Years 1–6 take part in purposeful, hands-on sessions built around four pillars: Character, Leadership, Sustainability and Life Skills. These experiences help children rediscover the joy of working together, thinking deeply and developing the real-world confidence that cannot be learned through a screen.
The early impact has been remarkable. Pupils talk about Horizon
sessions with genuine excitement. Teachers are observing stronger teamwork, improved perseverance and calmer, more intentional engagement. The programme has brought a renewed sense of curiosity, creativity and focus into the school week.
Already, pupils have explored themes such as sustainability, embracing practical challenges with maturity and ownership, a clear
reminder of how much children flourish when given meaningful, real-world tasks. They have also taken part in activities designed to strengthen focus, practising how to slow down, tune out distractions and enjoy the satisfaction of deep, uninterrupted attention. These examples confirm that the skills we hoped to nurture were exactly the ones our pupils needed most.
“The Horizon Project is far more than a new initiative; it is a thoughtful response to the way childhood is changing”
And these are only the beginning. As the initiative continues, we will move into a range of practical Life Skills, the small but important tasks children once learned naturally but do not always encounter today. Pupils will learn how to change a bed, tie a tie, make a cup of tea safely, use simple tools, read basic instructions, plan a small budget, and even sew on a button. These may seem modest, yet they foster independence, confidence and a quiet sense of capability that stays with children for life. Parents often say, “I wish someone had taught me these things at school.” Now, we are.
What makes The Horizon Project so powerful is both its warmth and its purpose. It gives children the time and space to try, to get stuck, to recover, to succeed, and to discover that each of these steps
is valuable. It nurtures resilience without pressure, responsibility without stress and curiosity without fear. It restores the grounding, practical roots of childhood that can so easily be overshadowed in a fast, high-tech world.
The Horizon Project is far more than a new initiative; it is a thoughtful response to the way childhood is changing. We are proud of its early impact and excited for everything still to come. Learn more about St Christopher’s The Hall at one of their upcoming events. The school will host an open morning on Wednesday 25 March 2026 and a discovery morning on Saturday 25 April 2026. CONFIDENCE, CHARACTER, CLARITY
Developing leaders who think deeply, act kindly and achieve with confidence.
Life at Castle Court School has adventure and exploration running through its core. These qualities are not bolt-ons or occasional extras; they are woven into the fabric of school life. They shape the curriculum and culminate each year in a dedicated week beyond the classroom, when pupils from Year 3 to Year 8 step away from their desks to develop essential qualities of collaboration, creativity, compassion, courage — and an understanding of the power of kindness.
Whether on the dramatic coastlines of Devon and the Isle of Purbeck, in the foothills of the Welsh mountains, or closer to home in the surrounding countryside, children are encouraged to embrace challenge and discover what they are capable of achieving. They learn independence by living under canvas, cooking their own meals, preparing camp and taking responsibility for themselves and one another. They tackle activities that may once have felt daunting — from coasteering and kayaking to mountain biking and surfing — building resilience with every step, paddle and climb. These experiences are not simply about outdoor pursuits. They are about learning to persevere when something feels difficult,
to support others when morale dips, and to show kindness when a friend is struggling. Pupils come to understand that encouragement can be transformative, that empathy strengthens teams, and that leadership is rooted as much in compassion as in confidence. In shared challenges and shared successes, they see first-hand the profound impact of thoughtful words and selfless actions.
Back indoors, children are encouraged to see that the skills they have learned are transferrable. Academic resilience, paired with a willingness to learn, to try and to explore, as well as rigorously high standards, ensure that those with aspirations are well-prepared for Scholarship success, both to local senior schools as well as internationally renowned establishments such as Winchester College. Yet preparing children for their future means more than examination success. The world they will inherit is certain to be fast-moving and unpredictable. In such a landscape, resilience, determination, emotional intelligence and the ability to collaborate effectively will be true differentiators. At Castle Court, pupils — known proudly as Castellans — are not only achieving academically; they are being equipped with the character, confidence, kindness and leadership skills to thrive in whatever future awaits them. castlecourt.com
NEW HEAD, ROSS CAMERON, LEADING
TALBOT HEATH INTO THE FUTURE
New Talbot Heath Head, Ross Cameron: Q&A
How do you see the school’s heritage and traditions informing –rather than limiting – its future direction?
Talbot Heath’s heritage is a tremendous asset and reflects generations of ambition, resilience and pioneering spirit; qualities that remain deeply and particularly relevant today. Our 140 year history is a foundation on which to build, offering continuity and identity as we evolve and embrace the future. By honoring our heritage while embracing new ideas, we can create a future that is both rooted and forward-looking. Tradition at Talbot Heath is not a constraint; it is liberating. It gives girls a sense of belonging while helping them to thrive in the future.
How do you see the role of a girls’ school evolving in a world that is changing socially, technologically and culturally at great speed?
Talbot Heath has always been forward-thinking, and schools like ours now have an even greater responsibility and opportunity to lead with clarity and purpose. As society evolves, we must help girls navigate complexity with confidence, compassion, and critical thinking. Our role extends well beyond exam preparation; it is about equipping young women for a world shaped by rapid technological change and shifting social norms. Talbot Heath’s heritage of innovation positions us perfectly to empower
girls to lead ethically, think boldly and engage thoughtfully with the world.
In an increasingly competitive education landscape, what do you believe truly sets this school apart?
Talbot Heath stands out for its unique blend of academic ambition, exceptional pastoral care and a pioneering spirit that has defined the school for generations. It is a place where girls are encouraged to be intellectually adventurous while also being supported as individuals. The sense of community is warm, inclusive and aspirational. What sets Talbot Heath apart is not just what we achieve, but how we achieve it – through relationships, high expectations and a belief in every girl’s individual potential.
What core values guide your leadership, and how do you ensure they are felt day-to-day by pupils, staff and families – not just written on paper?
My leadership is grounded in integrity, kindness and high aspiration – values that resonate strongly with Talbot Heath, which nurtures curious minds, generous hearts and adventurous spirits. These principles matter only if they are lived daily. I strive to model them through open communication, careful listening and consistent expectations. Culture is shaped by countless small interactions, so I focus on visibility and approachability. By celebrating effort, encouraging reflection and buiding trust, I aim to ensure that pupils, staff and families genuinely feel the values that have long defined Talbot Heath.
How do you view the partnership between school and families, and how will you strengthen that relationship?
Talbot Heath has always valued strong relationships with families, and I see this partnership as a cornerstone of every pupil’s success. Parents bring invaluable insight into their daughters’ strengths, needs and aspirations.
Strengthening this relationship means open communication, transparency and a shared commitment to wellbeing and achievement. I aim to nurture a culture where families feel welcomed, informed and involved. When trust is strong and dialogue is honest, we create a supportive network around each girl that amplifies her confidence and progress. talbotheath.org

FROM CLASSROOM TO CAREER:
WHO GETS AHEAD?
Across many of Britain’s leading professions, people educated in the private sector continue to be overrepresented in senior and decisionmaking roles. Recent research and ongoing public debate suggest that, despite progress in widening participation, educational background remains a powerful factor in shaping career trajectories across public life, business and the professions.
“The higher echelons of journalism are also dominated by the private sector, with 51 per cent educated in independent schools”
This pattern is particularly visible in areas such as politics, the judiciary and the armed forces, where senior leadership roles are more commonly held by those who attended independent schools. Similar trends can be seen in medicine, the civil service and the media, where private and selective educational pathways continue to feature prominently among those at the top.
In the corporate sector, many leaders of major British companies progressed through fee-paying schools and highly selective universities. The creative industries also reflect this imbalance, with a significant number of successful actors and performers having come through independent education, prompting wider discussion about access, representation and opportunity.
Supporters of independent education argue that its influence extends beyond academic results. Greater emphasis on confidence, communication, leadership and extracurricular engagement can play an important role in preparing young people for competitive environments. Strong networks and exposure to wider opportunities are also often cited as contributing factors.
At the same time, educators and policymakers continue to question how these advantages can be more evenly distributed. Improving access to highquality teaching, enrichment activities and personal development opportunities across all school types remains a central challenge for the education system.
As conversations around social mobility and fairness continue, education remains at the heart of the debate. Understanding how different educational experiences shape outcomes is essential to creating a system that allows talent to flourish, regardless of background – and ensures that leadership across British society reflects the full breadth of ability within it.

LET’S START AT THE VERY BEGINNING Clayesmore Opens Its Pre-Prep
Let’s start at the very beginning. Not simply with a new building or a new phase of schooling, but with the moments that matter most: first friendships formed, first questions asked, first sparks of confidence ignited, and a first genuine love of learning taking root.
For more than 130 years, Clayesmore School has been a place where education is about far more than results. Set in the Dorset countryside, it has built a reputation for helping children flourish not only academically, but also personally - inspiring confidence, resilience and curiosity that lasts a lifetime. Now, with the opening of Clayesmore Pre-Prep for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, this distinctive ethos can begin at the very start of a child’s educational journey.
Early childhood is a time of extraordinary growth, when children begin to see themselves as learners, friends and individuals. At Clayesmore Pre-Prep, these beginnings are carefully supported. Small class sizes and a warm, supportive environment ensure that every child is known, valued and encouraged - whether they are taking their first steps into independence, building friendships, or finding the confidence to share their ideas.
At the heart of Clayesmore is a belief that success looks different for every child. The school is renowned for recognising individual strengths and gently supporting challenges, helping each pupil to become the best version
of themselves. This philosophy sits at the core of the Pre-Prep, where learning is designed to spark curiosity and joy, laying the foundations for a lifelong love of discovery.
Children enjoy a rich and balanced education, with specialist teaching in art, music, languages and sport, alongside access to outstanding facilities, from creative studios to the 25-metre swimming pool. These experiences are carefully tailored to young learners, allowing them to explore new interests, develop skills and build confidence in an environment that feels both exciting and secure.
The opening of Clayesmore Pre-Prep marks an exciting new chapter. It allows families to begin their child’s journey in a place that understands the importance of beginnings – where first friendships are cherished, first discoveries are celebrated, and a love of learning is developed from the very first day.

THE RISE OF “ELEVATED LOUNGEWEAR” IN 2026
Comfort meets sophistication in 2026 with the continued rise of elevated loungewear. While the pandemic initially normalized casual, home-friendly clothing, designers have now reimagined it for the street, office, and social settings. Think knit sets in luxurious yarns, tailored joggers paired with structured blazers, and fluid silhouettes in soft, technical fabrics. The result is a style that is relaxed yet refined – casual dressing with a curated, intentional edge.
“Silk-blend joggers, brushed cotton sets, and ribbed knits offer comfort without compromising style”
Key to the trend is versatility. Pieces are designed to mix seamlessly with wardrobe staples. A cashmere sweatsuit can be paired with leather ankle boots and a sleek coat for a city-ready outfit. Oversized cardigans layered over matching wide-leg trousers create a look that is both cozy and polished. Designers are emphasizing tonal dressing, subtle textures, and muted palettes – soft creams, earthy taupes, and dusty pastels dominate the season.
Fabric choice is central. Silk-blend joggers, brushed cotton sets, and ribbed knits offer comfort without compromising style. Attention to detail – clean seams, structured fits, and understated hardware –elevates casual garments, making them feel intentional rather than lazy. Accessories are minimal but purposeful: delicate gold chains, classic handbags, and tailored footwear transform loungewear into a street-style statement.
This trend reflects a larger shift in modern wardrobes, where practicality and luxury coexist. For city dwellers, busy professionals, and fashion-conscious individuals alike, elevated loungewear offers adaptability without sacrificing aesthetics. It allows wearers to feel at ease while maintaining a sense of polish, perfectly suited for dayto-night transitions, coffee meetings, or casual events.
In 2026, elevated loungewear isn’t just about comfort – it’s about redefining how relaxed dressing can be aspirational, stylish, and effortlessly chic.

‘SOFT RADIANCE’ AN EFFORTLESS MAKEUP TREND FOR 2026
In 2026, beauty is embracing a gentler, more luminous approach. Moving away from sculpted contours, rigid eyeliner, and bold lips, makeup is now all about soft radiance – a subtle glow that highlights your natural features rather than masking them. Skin appears dewy and fresh, lips hold a delicate wash of colour, and eyes are softly defined. It’s a look that feels modern yet timeless, editorial yet approachable –ideal for readers in London who appreciate elegance that doesn’t feel overworked.
The key to this trend is letting natural texture shine. Heavy powders and matte foundations are replaced with lightweight, hydrating formulas that enhance rather than cover. Cream blushes, tinted moisturizers, and sheer foundations create a healthy, lit-fromwithin effect. Layering is understated: cheeks, lips, and eyes are harmonized, yet precise lines are intentionally avoided. The result is a look that feels effortless and lived-in while remaining polished and cohesive.
Lips play a starring role. Instead of crisp lines or opaque matte finishes, makeup artists suggest sheer, buildable colour applied
with fingertips or a soft brush. The effect is a natural, just-touched appearance that mirrors real lip tones. Cheeks reflect these same soft hues, and eyes remain neutral – soft browns, warm taupes, and muted roses create definition without harshness. Highlighter is applied sparingly, accentuating contours while keeping the overall glow subtle.
Eyes continue the theme of understated elegance. Rather than dramatic eyeliner or deep smokey shadows, muted shades define the eye softly. Mascara is applied to enhance length and lift without clumping or over-separation. The goal is approachable sophistication: a look suitable for daytime meetings, evening events, or spontaneous photoshoots. Its versatility is a driving factor in its popularity in fashion-forward cities like London.
Technique remains central to the soft-radiance aesthetic. Fingers, soft brushes, and sponges are preferred to diffuse edges and blend colours seamlessly. Products are layered lightly, allowing cream blushes and multi-use balms to meld with the skin. Lips are gently patted rather than outlined, while highlighters are placed strategically on high points to enhance dimension without excessive shimmer. Subtlety is paramount: enhancement takes precedence over perfection. This trend aligns with wider cultural shifts in beauty, emphasizing authenticity, versatility, and effortless sophistication. It allows wearers to celebrate individuality, showing polished yet approachable looks that fit busy, modern lifestyles. Products designed for this aesthetic – sheer lip oils, lightweight foundations, luminous blushes, and multipurpose balms – make achieving soft radiance simple, whether you’re a makeup novice or seasoned enthusiast.
On today’s fashion pages, hosiery is reclaiming its role as a defining style element. At LeggsBeautiful, tights and hosiery items are no longer treated as hidden basics but as the detail that completes a look. Sheer black finishes refine tailoring and evening wear, while patterned or textured tights introduce contrast beneath minimalist dresses and sharp heels. The right denier sculpts the leg, enhances colour depth and adds polish to everyday styling. From timeless elegance to bold fashion moments, modern tights prove that the foundation of an outfit can often be its most powerful feature.

With vibrant colours on the Catwalk and daffodils in the gardens is it time to
REFRESH YOUR LOOK
with a quick nip and tuck?
With blue skies and a spring in our step its time to become flawless for the summer. Maybe you are organised enough to have all your training in motion to become beach body ready, had regular facials and have glowing skin ready to hit the beach sans make-up. Or maybe you are in the other camp, like me, wishing you’d stuck to the diet and exercise regime that you signed up for in January but never stuck to. The dread of hiding my double chin under a sun hat is looming hard and fast…So what can I do in order to get myself as ready as I can? Que Mr Sadri. This extraordinarily talented surgeon is working magic on his patients. I recently spoke to a face lift patient of his who said that the number of compliments she had received was far beyond what she’d imagined and that she has found a new level of confidence. She said that her face is still a little swollen but she feels 10 years younger and is loving the attention. Who does not want that?
Mr Sadri specialises in facial surgery, especially rhinoplasty’s. That said he is known by other professionals as “being the neatest stitcher”, which has got to be a bonus as this means less obvious scars. I can’t deny that her scars are far less than what I expected. However if you’re not quite ready to be wheeled down to the operating theatres yet, I would thoroughly recommend one of the procedures he offers under local anaesthetic. Recently I saw a patient who had
just had a lip lift with him. The results amazing, and the prospect of never having to go through the pain of lip filler ever again seems just too good to be true…an irresistible pout for all my summer pics and beyond, lasting throughout the Christmas season as well must be a win right?
Or why not try an upper blepharoplasty. This little op can make such a difference to one’s face as it takes years off in 40 minutes. Having seen the before and after photos, I for one am sold and have booked myself in for a consultation with Mr Sadri for an upper blepharoplasty. My sagging upper eyelids banished in less than an hour. Subtle yet fabulous. Cinders will go to the ball after all, and with new found confidence
So if you are like me, always procrastinating and wishing for a miracle this summer come and see Mr Sadri. There is still time for you to become summer stunning and wow everyone casually whilst meeting on the beach or sipping cocktails on a roof terrace. A full facelift would be fabulous, however if you only have a lunchbreak free an upper blepharoplasty will still wow everyone and means that this summer I am not hiding under my straw hat!

WFAST PRIVATE MEDICAL CARE, WHEREVER YOU ARE IN LONDON
reassurance, delivered where the patient is.
In practice, hotel visits often involve the problems that travel tends to amplify. Fevers that feel more worrying in a new city. Stomach upsets that derail a schedule. Respiratory symptoms that flare after flights, cold weather or busy days in crowded places.
Having a GP who can see the patient, review their history, assess risk, and advise on next steps can make the situation feel manageable again.
hen people picture luxury travel, healthcare is rarely part of the fantasy. Yet in London, where guests arrive for board meetings, celebrations, family trips and long-awaited holidays, feeling unwell can turn a beautifully planned stay into a stressful scramble.
That is why the idea of a visiting doctor continues to matter. It is simple. If you are unwell, medical care should come to you.
Doctorcall was recently featured in The Telegraph in an article exploring this less talked-about side of travel. It looked at the doctors who are called when a guest becomes ill away from home and how care can be delivered in the place the person is staying.
For many guests, especially those visiting from overseas or travelling with children or older relatives, being assessed in a hotel or private residence can remove a major layer of uncertainty. It can also help avoid unnecessary hospital visits and make it easier to rest and recover.
The feature also traced the roots of Doctorcall’s hotel work back more than three decades. Doctorcall Founder Dr Charles Levinson recalls one of his earliest hotel visits in London, a call that shaped the service from the outset. The same principle still holds. A good clinician, the right assessment, a clear plan and
For concierge and front-of-house teams, knowing there is a reliable visiting doctor service to call can also make a difficult moment simpler. It means they can act quickly, communicate clearly with the guest, and support them with calm confidence.
Because in the end, the best travel support is not only about the room or the route. It is also about knowing that if something goes wrong, help will always arrive.

CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF WELLNESS IN CHELMSFORD
This year marks a proud milestone for BETA Wellness UK (Riptide Pools Ltd.) – 30 years in Chelmsford serving our local community. Many will still remember us as Hot Tub Barn, but we’ve recently rebranded to reflect something much bigger than a name change.
Our new identity represents our commitment not just to relaxation, but to complete home wellness.
For three decades, our Chelmsford showroom has helped families transform their gardens into spaces for connection, recovery and year-round enjoyment. With additional showrooms in Ashford and Sevenoaks, and a team whose experience spans many years – in some cases decades – we are proud to remain a trusted, family-feel business rooted in local knowledge and personal service.
The way we view outdoor living has changed. Today, a hot tub is more than a luxury feature; it’s a space to unwind after busy workdays,
reconnect with family, and prioritise wellbeing. Our range of Riptide hot tubs and swim spas – including powerful exercise pools designed for low-impact training – reflects this shift. Swim spas in particular have grown in popularity, offering the benefits of swimming, hydrotherapy and relaxation in one compact, energy-efficient solution.
As we enter our fourth decade in Chelmsford, we’re expanding further into health-focused products. We are excited to be launching the BETA Wellness ice bath and infrared sauna range, bringing the benefits of contrast therapy, muscle recovery and stress reduction into the home. These additions mark an important step in our evolution from hot tub specialist to complete wellness provider. While our name has evolved, our ethos remains the same: honest advice, exceptional aftercare and a genuine passion for helping our customers invest in their wellbeing.
If you’re curious about how a hot tub, swim spa or home wellness space could enhance your lifestyle, our Chelmsford team would be delighted to welcome you and share the benefit of 30 years’ experience.

THE ENDURING CRAFTSMANSHIP OF C&J MARINE AND C&J OUTDOORS
Since its founding in 1989, C&J Marine Ltd has charted an extraordinary course from specialist marine textile manufacturer to a respected British-made brand that now also serves the evolving world of outdoor living. What began as a company rooted in the bespoke creation of yacht covers, canopies, upholstery and protective solutions for the boating community has grown into a dual-footprint business that marries nautical expertise with refined garden and lifestyle fabrics.
Based on the South Coast in West Sussex, C&J Marine has earned its reputation over nearly four decades through unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and performance. From custom sprayhoods and cockpit enclosures to made-to-measure motor yacht covers and precision upholstery, every product reflects a deep understanding of marine conditions and design integrity. Their work is trusted by private boat owners, marinas and commercial operators up and down the UK coastline — a testament to quality that withstands both salt spray and season after season of use.
Building upon this rich heritage, C&J Marine’s expertise in high-grade fabrics and engineered solutions gave rise to C&J Outdoors — a dedicated division focused on enhancing outdoor living spaces with the same precision once
reserved for the sea. At a time when gardens, terraces and alfresco lounges are increasingly seen as extensions of home and hospitality spaces, C&J Outdoors brings premium retractable pergola awnings, sail shades and bespoke canvas building panels to discerning homeowners, designers and trade professionals alike.
This evolution from marine to outdoor reflects more than product diversification; it tells a story of adaptability, technical excellence and timeless design. Across platforms — from a yacht cockpit in a Mediterranean breeze to a sun-drenched patio on the south coast — the C&J name stands for craftsmanship that enhances both lifestyle and environment. In an era where quality and authenticity are prized, C&J continues to deliver products that are as enduring as the shores they adorn.
“In short, C&J Outdoors delivered on every promise – exceptional service, top-notch quality, and a design perfectly tailored to our needs. This retractable awning setup has truly transformed our garden, and I couldn’t recommend C&J highly enough to anyone looking to elevate their outdoor living space. BESPOKE DRESSING ROOMS AT NEATSMITH
The dressing room has become one of the most coveted features of the modern home, valued not only for its association with luxury, but for the practicality it brings to daily life. Far more than a place for storage, a beautifully designed dressing room sets the tone of the day and offers a sense of calm and retreat at the end of the day.
At Neatsmith, every project begins with the client. The design process is a collaboration, considering how the room will be used, who will be using it, and which pieces deserve to be carefully stored or showcased. For some, that means bespoke shelving to house an extensive shoe or handbag collection. For others, it might be glassfronted doors that transform clothing into a gallery-style display, or a
central island with tailored compartments for jewellery and watches. Increasingly, these spaces are evolving to become rooms in their own right. Homeowners are seeking dressing rooms that feel more like a private lounge or boutique, places to enjoy rather than simply to use. Where space allows, seating is included, while features such as coffee stations or even mini bars elevate the experience, turning the dressing room into an extension of the home’s living spaces. Material choices are key to setting the tone. Neatsmith’s Reflex glass doors, available in natural silver or smoked grey, are among the most popular options. The doors have a secret as when lit from the inside the glass becomes transparent to reveal the contents of the wardrobe. Richer tones and textures are also on the rise, from the warmth of walnut to deep green finishes and textured surfaces such as the new Cordona collection, which adds both depth and warmth.
Lighting is treated with equal importance. Neatsmith integrates LED lighting throughout its designs, ensuring that the rooms are as practical as they are atmospheric. Proper lighting enhances usability but also sets the mood, elevating the dressing room into a space that feels considered and complete.
Last autumn, Neatsmith opened a new showroom in Royal Tunbridge Wells, ideally situated on the high street, offering clients the opportunity to experience and view dressing room concepts. Here, and at the existing Brentwood showroom, visitors can explore finishes, layouts, and door styles, and meet with expert designers to create a bespoke dressing room entirely tailored to their home.
In the words of Lao Tzu, “To know others is wisdom. To know yourself is enlightenment.” Hobbies are the embodiment of self-understanding, much like building our dream homes. They are pursuits we engage in not for financial gain or outside recognition, but for the enrichment of our human experience.
Therefore, it is paramount that your space can play host to the things you love most. From vinyl aficionados to gaming gurus, knitting maestros to grail collectors, the rule is simple: have at least one room that is, essentially, a larger extension of your brain’s greatest daydreams. For all you passion seekers out there, here are the starting points for building your ultimate hobby hideout.
The core concept:
You want to be able to tell a story that sparks curiosity – one that builds anticipation in any like-minded individuals (whether they want to hear it or not) about how this room creates the single greatest experience you could hope for.
For example, Brionvega is one of the foremost speaker system innovators in the world and has been creating audiological marvels since the 50s. Their mid-century charm, paired with decades of sound-engineering majesty, delivers one of the world’s best vinyl listening experiences. Like many legends of niche interests,
Achille Castiglioni’s Radiofonografo even has an official owners’ club for those who belong to this exclusive group.
Absolute cinema – Movie Watchers:
Now that we’ve discussed the DNA of the perfect personal space, let’s explore which pieces are ideal for the hobbies we love so dearly –starting with a personal favourite of mine. As all film geeks know, half the battle
when getting into a movie happens offscreen. Not off-camera, but in the space around you. Setting up your own personal cinema room is about as intimate as it gets for those of us who are fans of the silver screen.
Add some dramatic dimmable lamps and take on your own cinematic universe from the comfort of a Cassina armchair. Want the true multiplex experience? Invest in Poltrona Frau’s collaboration with camera legends Leica, which projects pictureperfect quality right from the TV unit into your home.
Turn it up – Music Listeners:
while we specialise in surfaces, we don’t want to recommend breaking out the paint-by-numbers on any of them, so we’ll leave that to you.
Read the room - Bookworms
Is the local library still not quiet enough? Want to be the sole member of your own book club? The obvious prerequisite for this hobby is, of course, literature. But the design that transforms a space into your own reading room – one that lets the words transport you to another world from the comfort of home – is the ultimate goal.
Music is the language of the world. Love stories are told, tragedies are compressed into three-minute sonatas, and a collection of your fondest memories exists in melodic form. It doesn’t even need lyrics for you to understand the message. Imagine keeping a library that contains all of that – you’d want it to be your own personal listening paradise.
You’re going to need a place to sit back, store your special songs, and hear every note in pitch-perfect quality. The following steps are our recommended failsafe: combine bespoke storage from USM with that megastar of vintage aesthetics: the Eames Lounge Chair. Then dial it up to eleven (I tried to avoid the Spinal Tap reference – I really did) with a sound system from Brionvega or Transparent.
What you make of it – Craft Lovers:
Other hobbies take a more DIY approach – for the practically-minded among us who pass the time quilting, crocheting, and painting to their heart’s content. After all, nothing makes a house feel more like a home than making space for your own creations, amplified further when those pieces are made within the boundaries of your abode. So, what path can you take to create the perfect crafting space?
Storage is usually a great place to start. You need somewhere to put the things you aren’t using, so you aren’t overwhelmed by materials and tools. Next comes seating – this needs to be mobile, adjustable, and able to fit comfortably within the rest of your space. Style is more of an optional extra in this regard. Finally,
This one is a little looser on the guidelines: all the below are a matter of personal preference and are largely down to the individual. Pick a comfy chair (with a side table to match), a glowing floor lamp, and an even bigger bookcase – and you’ve got your reading room. Decorate the shelves with your favourite personal effects, and light a candle for added ambience. chaplins.co.uk
Refreshing interiors through colour and nature HOW BAYA BRINGS THE OUTDOORS IN THROUGH DESIGN
As spring gathers momentum and light lingers a little longer, many homeowners feel compelled to reassess the space around them. It’s not simply about decluttering cupboards or opening windows - it’s about recalibrating. A quiet reassessment of how the home can best support the year ahead, and whether it still reflects the mindset taking shape. There is something instinctive about this seasonal turning point. After months spent turned inward, the home - our spiritual centre - becomes the backdrop to new plans, fresh ambitions and slow, considered reflection: from the quality of light in a room and the way colours land, to the atmosphere created by the things we choose to
live with.
This sensitivity to seasonal rhythm sits close to the philosophy of BAYA Interiors. As Managing Director Philippa Simpson reflects, “Spring carries a natural sense of optimism. There is an ease to the light and a vitality in the landscape which invites change. When we align a home’s palette and materiality with that energy, spaces begin to feel lighter, more intuitive and quietly uplifting. Through colour, texture and narrative, we can transform a home into a place which both restores and inspires.”
At the core of BAYA’s practice is a commitment to embedding narrative and individuality into every project. Design is not approached as a surface exercise, but as a process of understanding - how homeowners live, what they value, and how their surroundings
can support both. This human-centred method allows each interior to develop with clarity and conviction, rather than conformity.
Colour and personality are handled with confidence, not caution. BAYA does not dilute character; instead, the studio uses tone, contrast, and materiality to express a home’s distinct identity. In doing so, BAYA strengthens the dialogue between interior and exterior -ensuring spaces feel responsive to their setting and attuned to the changing rhythm of the world beyond walls.
At Powerhouse, Chelsea Waterfront, BAYA’s three apartments unfold through a thoughtful dialogue with their surroundings, expressed in distinctive colour palettes drawn from both nature and the building’s heritage. One palette leans into lush greens, inspired by Chelsea Wharf’s revitalised gardens and the serene rhythm of the waterfront. Another reflects the warm industrial character of the historic façade, with terracotta and red tones woven through bespoke artwork and curated textures. A third evokes the Thames itself, balancing soft blues and corals to create a sense of flow and continuity.
At The Bryanston, Hyde Park, nature again guides the design. Overlooking the park, the interiors bring the outdoors in with intricate patterns and wood panelling complemented by a leaf-embossed headboard, translating Hyde Park’s beauty into a quietly modern expression.
Tactile materials meet high-gloss finishes, expanding space and layering warmth. Open-plan layouts unfold with ease, guided by architectural intent, creating homes which feel expansive and intimate.
Increasingly, homeowners are looking outward for cues. The desire to bring the outside in is a considered response to a deeper need for connection and renewal. Natural materials, layered lighting, and a palette drawn from the landscape soften a space without diluting its character. As Creative Director Karl Openshaw observes, “Pastel hues, organic textures, and considered planting can positively influence how a home feels day to day. They reintroduce movement and vitality when spaces may have felt dormant. This connection to the natural world has real impact: it enhances clarity, reduces visual noise, and supports a greater sense of balance. When greenery is integrated thoughtfully, a home doesn’t just look fresher, it functions better, embracing calm focus and a more instinctive way of living.”
Creativity grows through diversity - of perspective, experience, and imagination. As
spring takes hold, there is an opportunity to allow our interiors to evolve in parallel with the world beyond their walls. Not through dramatic reinvention, but through thoughtful adjustment. Sometimes, the most meaningful transformation begins with simply letting the light in.

THE DROP: When Furniture Finds Its Rhythm
Music has always shaped how we feel in a space. It sets the mood, shifts the tempo and creates atmosphere without being seen. With The Drop, London furniture brand Cult set out to capture that same emotional resonance through furniture, translating sound into form, rhythm into material, and nostalgia into modern living.
At the heart of the collection is a belief that interiors are a form of self-expression. Just as putting on a favourite record is an intentional pause; a moment to slow down, recalibrate and reconnect, furniture should offer the same feeling. Not only functional, but transformative.
Inspired by 70s revival design, the collection explores contrast with confidence enhanced with 80s inspired styling. Brushed chrome sits alongside plush velvets, textured bouclé compliments smooth walnut-stained wood, and sculptural silhouettes are balanced
by relaxed proportions. These juxtapositions reflect how we live today, mixing eras, materials and moods with ease. These subtle nods to different musical decades throughout the collection reinforce the idea that timeless design, like great music, transcends trends.
Colour is equally intentional. Walnut and espresso browns ground the collection, providing warmth and cohesion across statement pieces. Earthy moss greens and caramel tones add depth, while burgundies and lighter stone hues lift and balance the palette.
With The Drop, Cult invites us to experience interiors differently. Furniture owns the frame. Music sets the tempo, and design becomes the soundtrack to modern living.

TIMELESS INTERIORS
Andrea Palmer Interiors (API) is a boutique interior design studio creating timeless, tailored, elegant and beautifully liveable homes across Surrey, Berkshire and beyond. At the heart of every project is a simple belief: the most successful interiors don’t follow a signature look, they reflect the people who live there. Homes should feel personal, intuitive and effortless – not “done” for the sake of it, and certainly not styled to impress at the expense of everyday comfort.
API’s client-first approach defines the studio’s work. Rather than beginning with a pre-set aesthetic, Andrea starts with the way a client wants to live: their routines, priorities and preferences, and the atmosphere they want their home to hold. Some clients love crisp contemporary lines with warm neutrals, others lean towards colour with layered texture and softer detail. Many sit somewhere in between. The role of a designer, Andrea believes, isn’t to impose
taste but to interpret it – translating what clients naturally gravitate towards into a cohesive, elevated scheme that will still feel right years from now. Trends may come and go, but a home that feels truly “you” has a quiet longevity.
For many homeowners, the challenge isn’t a lack of opinions – it’s knowing how to pull everything together. Clients often arrive with the same sentiment: “I know what I like when I see it.” Andrea’s gift is bringing clarity to that instinct. Through a structured, supportive design process, she helps clients articulate what they’re drawn to, refine it, and make confident decisions without feeling overwhelmed by endless options. It’s a calm, guided experience that makes the journey as enjoyable as the finished result.
The individuality in an Andrea Palmer Interiors project is rarely loud; it’s found in the layering. Thoughtfully chosen materials and textures, the feel of a handle in your hand, the sheen of a stone surface, the softness of a fabric, the way light falls across a wall in
DESIGNED AROUND REAL LIFE
the evening. These are the details that shape how a home feels day to day. Lighting is approached as more than a functional requirement, with mood and ambience carefully considered room by room, so spaces feel balanced, flattering and inviting at every time of day.
Practicality is treated with equal respect. Andrea is known for designing bespoke joinery and layouts that solve real-life challenges quietly – the kind of behind-the-scenes thinking that allows a home to look calm and uncluttered even when it’s working hard. Storage is integrated seamlessly, circulation and “flow” are refined, and every space is designed to support the way the household actually operates, whether that means busy family mornings, relaxed weekends, or hosting friends with ease.
Collaboration is another defining feature of the studio. Andrea works closely with architects, builders and specialist craftspeople to ensure the client’s taste is carried through at every stage. The aim is always continuity: the intent behind the design is protected from first
concept through to final installation, so what is imagined on paper is what is experienced in the finished home.
API’s portfolio ranges from elegant family houses to contemporary residences, and the studio’s approach scales naturally across different briefs. Whether it’s a full new-build project, a sensitive refurbishment, or a single-room transformation, the same design principles apply: a tailored response to the client, an emphasis on proportion and detail, and an understanding that true luxury is liveable. These are homes designed to be enjoyed, not tiptoed around, always real.
For clients who want expert guidance with flexibility, Andrea also offers an online consultation service, bookable via the studio website. It’s a way to access the studio’s considered eye and practical expertise, wherever you are – and a natural extension of the same ethos that underpins every project: thoughtful design, shaped around you. andreapalmerinteriors.com
MAKING MORE OF WHAT YOU HAVE
Building in Britain has changed dramatically since 2020. The combined pressures of COVID, the war in Ukraine, and domestic market shifts have driven construction costs to historic highs. According to the BCIS, a project costing £100,000 four years ago now carries a price tag closer to £137,500 — and in London, the uplifts we’ve seen on our own projects have often gone further still.
For homeowners with ambitions to improve, extend or transform their properties, this is a genuine challenge. Scopes that once felt comfortably achievable now require harder conversations and clearer priorities.
But here’s what we’ve found: that discipline — that focus — can produce something better.
At nimtim, we’ve always believed that the best projects begin not with a predetermined outcome, but with a conversation about what you actually want your home to do for you. How do you want
to feel in it? Where does daily life feel constrained? What would make it extraordinary? When budgets demand creativity, those questions become even more important — and the answers often lead somewhere unexpected and genuinely exciting.
One of our clients came to us wanting to replace a struggling rear extension. Through careful exploration of what they were really trying to achieve, we discovered the extension itself wasn’t the answer at all. Instead, we designed a new multi-purpose intervention — part kitchen, part storage, part workspace — that completely reimagined their family living spaces. No extension required. Every ambition met. The project, which we call Curve Appeal, is one we’re enormously proud of.
At Hideaway House — a remarkable detached home tucked behind the terraces of East Dulwich — we opened walls, created internal vistas, and wove together spaces that had felt disconnected from each other and from the garden beyond. A palette of simple, beautifully considered materials flowed from inside to out, giving the whole home a new coherence and calm.
The construction climate right now asks more of architects and clients alike. But the homes that emerge from that rigour — thoughtfully planned, imaginatively conceived — are often the most inspiring ones we make.
We’d love to talk about what’s possible for your home. nimtim.co.uk
THE BATH WORKS SHOWCASE: AXOR X PHILIPPE STARCK:
When Vision Shapes the Modern Bathroom
Design has become central to how we furnish our homes and organise everyday life because it shapes not just what we see, but how we feel and behave within a space. Nowhere is this more evident than in the bathroom. Once considered a purely functional room, it has evolved into a place of wellbeing, individuality and quiet ritual. Few collaborations have influenced this transformation as profoundly as the 30-year partnership between AXOR and Philippe Starck.
For design to truly influence culture, it must capture a moment in time—a need, a new function, a shift in mindset. That requires exceptional designers with vision and instinct, alongside brands with the courage to act on those ideas. Philippe Starck and AXOR represent exactly that union. From the very beginning, their work challenged conventions, reimagining the bathroom not as a hidden utility, but as a living space.
In 1994, Starck introduced the radical concept of the Salon d’Eau—the “water living room”. Daylight replaced tiles, natural materials softened the space, and the AXOR Starck collection became a defining feature. The idea was simple yet revolutionary: the bathroom could be somewhere you wanted to be. This philosophy continues to underpin AXOR’s approach today—designing not just objects, but entire spaces, and rethinking how people interact with water.
Starck’s work with AXOR has consistently balanced beauty, innovation and responsibility. From the ergonomic efficiency of AXOR
“For design to truly influence culture, it must capture a moment in time”
Starck Organic to the poetic minimalism of AXOR Starck V, which celebrates water itself as the hero, each collection reflects a deep respect for resources. For Starck and AXOR, saving water should never feel like a compromise, but an upgrade to the experience. This iconic collaboration can be discovered locally through The Bath Works, with showrooms in Poole, New Milton and Southbourne. The Southbourne showroom is particularly special, featuring the AXOR Starck range on display alongside a fully working AXOR shower and tap installation—allowing visitors to experience the design, performance and sensory quality first-hand.
Together, AXOR and Philippe Starck continue to prove that great design is timeless, purposeful and deeply human—created not just for today, but for a lifetime.

STUDIO WERC ARCHITECTS
When homeowners Natasha and Andy first moved into their Victorian house in south-west London, they knew it had potential. However, plans to renovate their doer-upper were placed on hold for two years, giving the couple time to better understand how they lived in the space and what truly needed to change.
It quickly became clear that the kitchen was the heart of the problem. Damp, poorly lit and disconnected from the garden, the room felt uninviting and underused. As enthusiastic cooks who spend much of their time in the kitchen — whether working, relaxing or entertaining — Natasha and Andy wanted to transform it into a warm, sociable space that felt connected to the rest of the home and garden.
Equally important was preserving the character of the Victorian property. “Having grown up in a Victorian townhouse in Newcastle, I’ve always loved homes with original character where nothing feels too new,” says Natasha. “We wanted the renovation to feel sympathetic to the house’s roots.” After seeing several local projects, the couple approached Studio Werc Architects, drawn to the practice’s thoughtful approach to materials, light and proportion.
Working closely with the clients, Studio Werc director Ed Ward and his team translated the brief for a calm, welcoming home into a series of carefully considered architectural interventions. The design focused on creating a seamless relationship between the home’s original Victorian fabric and a contemporary extension, ensuring
the spaces felt cohesive rather than contrasting.
“We wanted the house to feel relaxed and grounded — a place where you naturally exhale,” explains Natasha. “Rather than anything overly polished, we were drawn to a design that emphasised character and texture, using natural materials, soft colours, layered lighting and timeless architectural details.”
To achieve this, Studio Werc reimagined the rear of the house with a full-width extension that opens the home to the garden. Slim industrial-style glazing and a glazed roof flood the new kitchen-diner with natural light, transforming what was once a dark, enclosed space into a bright and inviting hub for daily life.
Inside, exposed structural elements bring rhythm and texture overhead, while a warm terracotta herringbone floor adds depth and tactility underfoot. The material palette was carefully selected to create a calm, grounded atmosphere that feels both contemporary and rooted in the home’s heritage.
The garden was redesigned in tandem with the interior architecture, creating a natural continuation between inside and out. Colours and textures are echoed across the two spaces, strengthening the visual connection and allowing the garden to function as an extension of the living space.
“It now feels like an additional room that we enjoy year-round,” says Natasha. “Because it’s the main view from the house, it has completely transformed the atmosphere inside.”
Elsewhere, Studio Werc improved the flow of the home by removing internal walls and reconfiguring the layout. The bathroom was relocated to a new side extension, creating additional space for the kitchen and allowing the bath to sit beneath a dramatic rooflight — an unexpected moment of calm within the home.
At the centre of the renovation is a hardworking kitchen designed to support everyday life as well as entertaining. Generous preparation surfaces, a traditional pantry area and cleverly integrated storage solutions ensure the space remains practical while maintaining a sense of warmth and character.
A lift-up dining bench maximises storage, while a sociable seating arrangement around the island encourages gathering and conversation. The kitchen’s focal point is a freestanding island inspired by traditional haberdashery cabinetry. Designed as a piece of furniture rather than a conventional fitted unit, it brings individuality and craftsmanship into the space.
“I love vintage pieces and wanted to bring that feeling into the kitchen,” Natasha explains. Soft truffletoned cabinetry, brass rails and traditional lighting complete the design, adding warmth and richness while complementing the Victorian character of the home. The result is a kitchen that balances practicality with atmosphere — a space designed not only for cooking but for everyday living, gathering and connection.
“A lift-up dining bench maximises storage, while a sociable seating arrangement around the island encourages gathering and conversation”
Through careful detailing, a restrained material palette and a deep understanding of how the clients live, Studio Werc has transformed a once dark and disconnected kitchen into the heart of the home — a calm, characterful space that seamlessly connects house, garden and family life.

TGreat LED picture lighting will transform your art
here are so many types and styles of picture lights available to buy now and unfortunately most of them do not follow the essential components required to light art well. Some are low cost and others can be very expensive, but both will light art poorly. You can recognise these by experiencing the following sub-standard results:
• Over lit at the top
• Little or no light coverage further down or at the sides to become Under lit everywhere else
• Glare points on the canvas
• Damaging heat, glare & UV from the lightsource
• Frequent lamp changes
• High running costs
Many lamp types are used in picture lights suchas candles, G9 Capsules & 221mm/284mm S15 lamps and they don’t light art well. They have been selected for use in picture lights because of their size rather than their performance.
To truly light art well and gain the most from your picture lights the following points must be insisted on:
Colour Temperature: A warm white light (2,700K is ideal)
Colour Rendering Index:A high CRI is required to bring out the rich colours, definition & brush strokes in the paintings. Insist on >95 CRI.
“With over 20 years of LED lighting experience, I wanted to develop a high quality, low cost & easy to install LED upgrade kit to light art well, and this product does just that”
– Iain McIntosh
Head Size, Arm Position & LED Spacing and Lensing: These 3 dynamics must work together to gain the best coverage across the canvas. For example, when lighting a ½ portrait size painting (50”x 40”). This can be done with a smaller head if it has the correctly sized arms and the configuration of lensing and spacing is correct. This can also be lit with a larger head with shorter arms and a different configuration of lighting. The arms need to be calculated to give the correct elevation & projection for the head size. Swivel knuckles should be present to gain the desired head position and angle.
This will shield the LED source and remove any glare.
Lighting Levels: Each picture light should be supplied with its own dedicated dimmer to ensure correct levels are achieved. Over lighting can be just as bad as under lighting and a painting’s ideal light level will depend on its content, colours and brush strokes.
Did you know - You can now upgrade a poorly performing picture light
If you have a picture light and are not happy with the light coverage from it, there is now a quick & easy option to upgrade it and dramatically improve the light coverage across your painting. These kits are sized to fit into your existing head with correctly spaced and lensed LEDs to cover the required canvas size. They come with a dimming kit and properly sized arms.
We recently upgraded the picture lighting in the Long Gallery at Castle Howard using this technology and you can see how the art collection stands out now. If you would like further details, please do make contact.

LUXURY OPEN PLAN HOMES FOR MODERN LIVING IN WIMBORNE
Wyatt Homes has been designing and building beautiful, award-winning homes across the South West for over 35 years. Known for its characterful new residences in Dorset, Somerset, and Hampshire, the housebuilder combines exceptional architecture with high-specification interiors, emphasising sustainability, quality materials and expertly designed layouts.
Nestled along the tranquil banks of the River Stour and just moments from the heart of Wimborne Minster, is Rivers Edge. The development offers a rare blend of luxury, location, and lifestyle.
Philippa Vickery, sales and marketing director at Wyatt Homes said: “Rivers Edge brings together an exceptional collection of 208 four, five and six bedroom homes, each designed with space, quality and modern family living in mind. Within the development, our exclusive Riverside Collection offers just 18 bespoke homes - and we now have only two remaining: a four bedroom and a six bedroom property, starting from £1,350,000.
“On the main development, prices begin at £725,000 for a four bedroom semi detached home, which currently includes £35,000 cash back.”
At Rivers Edge, quality living meets an idyllic setting. With the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just moments away, residents can enjoy miles of rolling hills, peaceful river valleys, and historic villages.
Wimborne has everyday convenience with its mix of high street favourites, independent
boutiques, and artisan finds. Its welcoming cafés, cosy pubs, and vibrant restaurants offer something for every occasion.
After living in a quiet village in Hampshire for 25 years, Mike and Eleanor Fletcher decided they wanted to move to somewhere that was better placed.
“We knew we wanted a new build, as we didn’t want to take on any big projects,” said Eleanor.
“We saw the Wyatt development as we were leaving the town and we instantly knew we wanted one of their homes. Even though we were meant to be downsizing, we fell in love with our five-bedroom home. It’s ideal when we have family to come and stay and Mike gets a room for his model railway layout and I work from home so one is a study too,” added Eleanor.
“Looking for a new property with that added dash of ‘wow’ – Wyatt Homes’ Rivers Edge is the answer”
“The homes made a fantastic first impression,” said Mike. “You can see the quality outside and feel it as soon as you step in.”
The sales office and show home are open at Rivers Edge from Thursday to Monday 10am – 5pm. To find out more visit Wyatt Homes’ website.

KISORIANO INTERIOR DESIGN
The studio’s approach is grounded and practical, seeking luxurious and stylish outcomes. It begins before design is ever discussed. Meetings are unhurried, and conversation drifts easily through the weather, a meal, or the rhythm of a client’s day until the project naturally finds its focus. Listening is vital to the process. By the time plans are mentioned, there is already a sense of how the space needs to work, not just how it should look.
This way of working comes from an early understanding of how interiors shape daily life. It starts with ‘who’. Who is the person, how they move through a space, and what they value. Function leads, but aesthetics follow with equal force, integral to the design outcome. Growing up in environments where exterior and interior spaces were disconnected and frequently chaotic, Karen recognized early on that architecture is never neutral. When poorly conceived or badly executed, it unsettles the mind and diminishes the human experience. The built environment has a psychological weight; it can either elevate or erode wellbeing.
Rooted in her heritage and shaped by extensive travel, she witnessed the transformative power of design done well. These are places where proportion, materiality, and context exist in quiet harmony that lasts for generations. In these spaces, one feels grounded, uplifted, and understood. This realization became a guiding principle: design is not aesthetic indulgence, but responsibility.
Every brief is stripped back to its core. Context is the integrator that brings together place, origin, and surroundings into the design, alongside layers of local craft and culture. Interior and exterior are conceived as one continuous narrative. A city home demands a different response to one in the countryside because the pace of life, environment, and climate shape the outcome.
Karen’s understanding of
craftsmanship stems from time spent in her mother’s workroom, surrounded by fabric and the steady rhythm of sewing machines. She watched how the patient, skillful manipulation of materials turns into drapery which, when hung voluminously, changes the energy in a room. She saw precision, mindfulness, and graceful execution. These values are fundamental to her and manifested in her early work. The project that holds a special place in Karen’s heart is Magna Hill, a tropical villa nested in a serene city village. Designed intuitively, it was a rewarding journey of creative output followed by the pleasure of seeing the vision materialize into an elegant residence harmonious to its surroundings. This experience could only be improved by working on a globally significant project.
Seeking to create from a design capital, she relocated to London for a masters degree at Chelsea College of Art and Design and took a position in the infamous David Collins Studio. Her sense of interiors was put to the test under rigorous critique from David himself when her first assignment was to design the presidential suite for the ultra-luxury Mandarin Oriental in Doha in his signature style. She immersed herself in a studio of boundary-pushing designers, working long hours refining and perfecting their craft. What she saw connected with memories of her mother’s workroom and solidified her understanding of the chemistry behind luxurious interior design.
In 2023, after working with several renowned global and London-based studios, Karen founded KISoriano Interior Design. Creating high-end residential interiors in London and the Middle East, the studio focuses on the continuation of her core principles. This is luxury shaped by people, places, and time, both personal and enduring.

What if the most valuable property decision you make this decade isn’t moving at all?
London homeowners have long been used to hearing one consistent story about property: over time, values rise.
Yet the conversation around housing has recently shifted. Some commentators suggest that, once inflation is considered, the real value of London property has been flatter than many expected.
London’s housing market has always moved in cycles. When things feel less predictable, many homeowners begin asking a practical question: should we move, or should we make better use of the home we already have?
Some people immediately start looking at Rightmove. Others pause. If you have lived somewhere for years, built memories there, and feel connected to the area, the decision is rarely straightforward.
Leaving a home that has worked for your family, can be harder than expected.
What we often see is that many London homes still hold untapped potential.
A loft that could become valuable extra space. Sometimes it is as simple as rethinking the ground floor so the kitchen connects properly to the garden. In other homes, rearranging a few rooms can completely change how the house feels day to day.
Occasionally the conversation goes further. Homeowners begin looking at how the house might
support the next phase of life.
That might mean creating a smaller space for themselves while retaining part of the property as an investment, or simply redesigning the house so it continues to work as family circumstances change.
Before making any big decision, it helps to understand what your property could actually become.
At Architect Your Home, we have spent 25 years helping London homeowners explore those possibilities. Our work follows a simple seven step process that guides clients from the earliest ideas through planning, design and construction.
It often begins with a Vision Sketch Sprint, where an architect spends four focused hours in your home exploring design ideas together at the kitchen table. We sketch possibilities, test layouts and discuss what could realistically be achieved with your property.
For many homeowners this conversation is the moment when possibilities start to take shape.
Because sometimes the most valuable square metres you will ever own are the ones you already have.

FRIARS CLIFF APARTMENT:
ONE RESOLVED COASTAL HOME
What began as two front doors is now one calm coastal residence, organised around light, movement and daily life by the sea.
At Friars Cliff on the Dorset coast, Dream Design re-planned two apartments into a single, dual-aspect home. The scope was comprehensive: spatial planning, structural reconfiguration and interior specification, developed as one coherent scheme rather than a room-by-room set of decisions.
The defining move was structural. By removing the wall between kitchen and living areas, the team formed one unified volume that holds cooking, dining and relaxing within a clear plan. Circulation was re-set to feel intuitive, and sightlines were composed from each approach, ensuring the kitchen reads as ordered from the entrance, the dining table and the seating area. Dual-aspect glazing brings the outlook into the room.
Material continuity does much of the quiet work. A whitewashed, ash wood-effect porcelain floor runs through the main living level, tying the open-plan space together while providing a hard-wearing base suited to coastal use. The palette stays restrained, allowing proportion and daylight to lead. Lighting is layered for everyday living, balancing task clarity with softer ambient levels that settle the space in the evening. Finishes were selected for practicality as well as presence.
The kitchen cabinetry was specified in a custom NCS blue, bringing depth without visual noise. Porcelain surfaces hold light and remain practical in daily use, with marble-effect porcelain carefully set out across the hob wall and window surrounds. Light grey stone-effect porcelain continues across the island fronts and worktop, keeping the centre of the room quietly composed.
SieMatic was selected for its ability to carry an open-plan room without dominating it. In SLX, the architecture is expressed through precise lines, disciplined junctions and finish quality that remains consistent at close range.
Dream Design’s approach is rooted in coherence. As the team put it, “Excellence is a lot of small things done well.” With full design freedom from the clients, each decision was tested against the whole, from first layout studies to final on-site detailing. See more at dreamdesign.co.uk
