Set in the beautiful grounds of Sherborne Castle, the Classic & Supercars Show has the largest display of Vintage, Heritage, Sport and Classic cars as well as Supercars in the South West. This year’s Marque Feature is Lamborghini and we’ll be celebrating 60 years of the iconic brand. We’re casting our net far and wide to try and bring as many vehicles to the show and take part in the Marque Parade down the main strip in front of the Castle. We are expecting over 1500 vehicles to be on display at this year’s show. • By 1898, the grounds embraced the era’s pioneering open air treatment, with patients housed in fresh air shelters across the estate.

• Over time, the sanatorium transitioned into a general hospital, serving the community until its closure in 1990. After nearly a decade of quiet, the site was thoughtfully

restored and extended by Bovis Homes in 1999, using local Purbeck stone and preserving its architectural character.

Louise Dennis FGA DGA and Alicia Rogers have worked together for over sixteen years and together have a built a portfolio of sales regularly achieving outstanding results.

Head of the Jewellery Department since 2015, Louise has overseen the sale of many exceptional pieces, including a pair of Art Deco diamond earrings by Cartier that achieved a hammer price of £72,000, pictured above. Prior to Mallams, Louise worked for Bonhams and received several awards during her studies with the Gemmological Association of Great Britain, including the prestigious Christie’s Prize for Gemmology.

Alicia is Head of the Silver and Objets de Vertu at Mallams, and has over three decades of experience, having previously worked for internationally renowned firms including Phillips and Bonhams. Alicia is widely respected for her specialist knowledge, experience and trusted advice.

More than 650 music lessons are delivered each week by over 50 specialist teachers, while 25 ensembles rehearse regularly. Last year, 18 productions were staged in the purpose built Malthouse Theatre, and pupils could choose from over 20 sports, including cricket, fencing, rowing and sailing.

Since joining Talbot Heath as Head in Easter 2026, I have been struck by the warmth, ambition and sense of purpose that defines this remarkable school. Relocating from Cambridgeshire to take on this role was a significant decision for my family and I, but it has quickly become clear that Talbot Heath is a very special community with an exciting future ahead.

As the school recently celebrated its 140th anniversary, I have enjoyed learning more about its proud heritage. For generations, Talbot Heath has combined academic excellence with outstanding pastoral care, helping young people develop not only the knowledge and skills to succeed, but also the character, confidence and resilience needed to thrive in an ever changing world. Those values remain just as relevant today as they were when the school was founded.

In my short time here, one of the greatest pleasures has been meeting families from across the school through my regular Coffee & Catch Up sessions and attending a variety of events. I firmly believe that a Head should be visible, approachable and accessible. By contrast, London prep schools have, in the main, long offered dual pathways that give families genuine choice at both 11+ and 13+. This reflects a simple principle: the right next step should be determined by the needs of the child, not the structure of the school.

For parents, this naturally raises important questions. Is a London day school the right destination? Does location matter most? Would a hybrid model or flexi boarding better suit their child? Or would an additional two years in a prep environment allow greater confidence and maturity to develop?

These are the right questions to ask. Children change over time, and it is essential that families and schools continue to reflect on what will best support each individual at each stage of their journey.

At Broomwood Prep, we have always prepared pupils for both 11+ and 13+ entry,

and we believe this flexibility is central to our commitment to the whole child. It ensures that ambition is matched with understanding, and that success is defined by the right pathway, not a single route.

However, it is sometimes assumed that 13+ schools prepare pupils primarily for boarding entry and therefore place less emphasis on 11+ success. This is a misconception we frequently encounter. We should therefore view this model as a strength. Every child’s journey is different, and a one size fits all approach can be limiting. Some pupils benefit from more time to develop; others are ready to thrive in a new environment at 11+. A 13+ setting such as Broomwood allows for both, and supports each exceptionally well.

Over recent years, we have seen a growing number of families seeking flexibility as they navigate senior school decisions. With the rise of pre testing and early offers, most pupils now sit external assessments in Year 6, whether they are leaving at 11+ or remaining until 13+. This shift has, in effect, aligned the admissions landscape across day and boarding schools and reduced the dominance of traditional Common Entrance preparation.

At Broomwood, our approach reflects this change. Preparation for senior school begins in Year 5, when pupils enter our Middle Phase. From this point, we focus on developing agility and confidence across both digital and written assessments, supported by regular in class testing, targeted intervention, and increasing independence in learning.

A distinctive advantage of our school is our extended day, which allows for additional stretch and support within the timetable. Pupils also complete homework in school, supported by teachers, ensuring that preparation is structured, balanced, and carefully guided.

Alongside academic preparation, pupils benefit from interview practice, mock interviews, and focused sessions on exam technique, including how to approach different assessment formats. These are designed to ensure pupils are calm, confident, and well prepared for the process ahead.

This support extends to families as well as pupils. We meet each family individually in Year 4 and again at the end of Year 5 to guide decision making and discuss senior school options. These conversations evolve over time, reflecting the fact that children grow, circumstances change, and the right destination at nine may not be the same at eleven or thirteen.

Throughout this process, we are careful not to reduce education to preparation alone. While academic rigour is essential, so too is enjoyment, curiosity, and balance. We believe that excessive pressure can undermine confidence, and we work deliberately to ensure

that pupils remain positive, motivated, and secure in their learning.

Our pupils’ outcomes speak for themselves. This year, Broomwood Prep pupils have achieved a record number of scholarships, alongside offers to a wide range of senior schools at both 11+ and 13+. At 11+, in particular, pupils have secured places at highly competitive London day schools including City of London, James Allen’s Girls’ School, Alleyn’s, Putney High, and Wimbledon High, alongside strong outcomes at leading boarding schools at 13+.

V& A Museum Presents SCHIAPARELLI: FASHION BECOMES ART

The first exhibition ever staged in the UK devoted to Schiaparelli. Spanning the 1920s to the present day, the exhibition charts the history and impact of one of the 20th century’s most innovative fashion designers, Elsa Schiaparelli. The show traces the origins of the house, from its first, paradigm shifting garments, through to its present day incarnation in the hands of its creative director, Daniel Roseberry.

Featuring new research undertaken by art and fashion curators focused on the creative collaborations and output of founder Elsa Schiaparelli, the exhibition places her at the nexus of innovation, a key figure within a stellar sphere of fashion, art and performance which spanned the cities of Paris, London, and New York in the years between the two world wars and up to her retirement in 1954. It highlights the history of a female entrepreneur and showcases her celebrated, yet little seen garments from the history of fashion.

The exhibition is the first of its kind to spotlight the London branch of Schiaparelli, its dynamic and independent clients and the founder’s own involvement in the satellite location.

The exhibition comprises over 200 objects, including garments, accessories, jewellery, paintings, photographs, sculpture, furniture, perfumes and archive material. The diversity of media, styles and subjects celebrates the house of Schiaparelli’s boundless creativity. The V&A holds some of Elsa Schiaparelli’s most radical designs. The exhibition features the V&A’s ‘Skeleton’ dress and the ‘Tears’ dress, along with a hat shaped to look like an upside down shoe, all conceived in collaboration with Salvador Dalí.

Artworks by Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau and Man Ray are also on display. The exhibition references the popularity of Schiaparelli’s

designs for film and theatre productions. Schiaparelli possessed a vibrant artistic sensibility. Turning ordinary items into innovative clothing, accessories and jewellery, she created the most memorable fashions of the day. Her couture house, the most discussed of interwar Paris, redefined standards of style and definitions of beauty.

Today, from the iconic Schiaparelli atelier at 21 Place Vendôme, creative director Daniel Roseberry accompanies the storied Maison into its next chapter, establishing an oeuvre that continues to shape and inspire global culture today.

The market town of Royston on the Hertfordshire / Cambridgeshire border has once again held its biannual colourful umbrella sky display. Organised by Royston First BID the sky display will run throughout the summer season featuring brightly coloured umbrellas suspended above the street.

Royston also has the Cave, located in the centre of the town. This was discovered in 1742 by workmen who lifted a millstone which led to a well like shaft and man made cave. The walls are covered in carvings. For details of tours visit roystoncave.co.uk.

Two weeks later and I’m raring and ready to go. The procedure is under local anaesthetic and I’m met by the charming Mr Sadri himself to go through my consent forms. He is kind and puts me at ease, he explains the most painful part is when he injects the anaesthetic into my earlobes.

During my surgery He’s matter of fact and swift. Concentrating on the job in hand while I chat to the nurses who are charming. We chat about kids and holidays until it’s over. I look in the mirror expecting to look bruised, like I’ve been bitten by a dog but I’m pleasantly surprised. It’s hardly noticeable and with my hair strategically placed in front of my ears no one will notice.

The pain minimal, the results magical! He really does live up to his incredible reputation, and now holds a firm place in my little black book. Preparing Your Body

1. Embrace a Mediterranean diet

“There’s good evidence that a Mediterranean diet improves egg and sperm quality,” says Professor Macklon. Think colourful vegetables, fruit, fish, chicken, dairy and eggs.

2. Don’t overspend on supplements

A balanced diet covers most of what your body needs. There are three vitamins worth adding in: folic acid, omega 3 and vitamin D.

3. Quit smoking — and vaping too

Smoking affects both egg and sperm quality, and while vaping is less harmful, the nicotine still has an impact.

4. Aim for a healthy BMI

Being significantly over or underweight

— a BMI below 19 — can affect ovulation. “Your body wants to feel ready to invest in somebody else so it can

carry a pregnancy,” Professor Macklon explains.

5. Reduce your alcohol intake

An occasional glass of wine is fine. “It’s when you’re drinking more than eight or nine units a week that it might have a detrimental effect,” says Professor Macklon.

When You’re Actively Trying

6. Time it right — but not too precisely

“The most fertile day is actually two days before ovulation. When your test turns positive, you’ll ovulate in around 36 hours — and that’s when most pregnancies occur,” says Professor Macklon.

7. Keep intimacy enjoyable

“Don’t make it a chore — once on your fertile days is genuinely enough,” advises Professor Macklon.

8. Know when to seek help

If you’re under 37, consider see a specialist after a year of trying; if you’re over 37, go after six months. “If you’re anxious, seek help any time,” says Professor Macklon.

“Interior design starts with a conversation, not a colour chart,” says Karl. “Before we think about colour, materials or furniture, we want to understand how someone lives. Are they constantly entertaining? Do they work from home? Where do they escape to after a long

day? Where does the family naturally gather? The answers to those questions should shape the design far more than the latest trend.”

The owner of BAYA’s latest penthouse at Chelsea Waterfront’s Tower East leads a life that’s constantly evolving, and their home evolves with it. In the morning, it’s a place of quiet focus. “The best compliment I can receive isn’t that someone loves the colours or furniture. It’s when they tell me their children always end up gathering in the kitchen after school, or they’ve found a favourite spot to read. That’s when you know you’ve designed more than an interior. You’ve designed a home that genuinely works for the people living in it.”

Ah, Scandinavia, the mere mention of the word conjures imagery of Mads Mikkelsen pedalling down a Copenhagen cycle path on his way to acquire Kardemummabullar at some local bakery. But when we’re not thinking of the pastries or the pastel coloured buildings, we’re thinking, of course, about the furniture.
