LOCAL WALK: Old Harry Rocks and Studland Bay Circular Walk, Dorset
Few coastal walks in Dorset offer such a rewarding combination of dramatic geology, sweeping sea views, and peaceful countryside as the circular route to Old Harry Rocks from Studland. Located at the eastern end of the Jurassic Coast, this invigorating walk can be completed in just a few hours, making it an ideal choice for a refreshing day outdoors.
The route begins in the picturesque village of Studland, easily accessible via the National Trust car park near South Beach. From the outset, walkers are treated to views across Studland Bay, a vast expanse of golden sand backed by dunes and lowland heath. The gentle sound of waves and the fresh sea air set the tone for the journey ahead.
Following the well-marked South West Coast Path, the trail gradually ascends along grassy slopes. As you climb, the panorama widens to reveal Poole Harbour—one of the largest natural harbours in the world—with Brownsea Island visible in the distance. This steady incline leads towards Ballard Down, where the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic and the sense of space truly exhilarating.
Continuing along the chalk ridge, the path hugs the clifftops, offering uninterrupted views of the English Channel. The striking contrast between the brilliant white cliffs and the deep blue sea creates a landscape of exceptional beauty. Seabirds wheel overhead, and on clear days the Isle of Wight can be seen on the horizon.
The highlight of the walk soon
comes into view: the iconic Old Harry Rocks. These magnificent chalk stacks rise from the sea like sentinels, marking the easternmost point of the Jurassic Coast. Formed over millions of years by relentless coastal erosion, they are among Dorset’s most photographed natural landmarks. The viewpoint above provides an ideal place to pause, take photographs, and appreciate the grandeur of the coastline.
After soaking in the scenery, retrace your steps briefly before turning inland across Ballard Down. This section offers a quieter and more tranquil experience, with open grassland stretching in all directions. The

THE YACHTS DEFINING THE SEASON AHEAD
The British Motor Yacht Show, 14–17 May 2026, Swanwick Marina, River Hamble
As the South Coast settles into the rhythm of spring, attention turns once again to the River Hamble - where, each May, a quietly influential showcase brings together some of the most compelling motor yachts on the market.
Now in its 13th year, the British Motor Yacht Show returns to Swanwick Marina, Premier Marinas’ flagship location for motor yachts, from 14–17 May 2026 with what is arguably its most accomplished line-up to date. For those with an eye on the season ahead - whether upgrading, refining or simply observing - it offers a rare opportunity to step aboard and compare a carefully curated selection of yachts in one place.
A line-up shaped by calibre
What distinguishes the British Motor Yacht Show is not scale, but selection.
Established by Premier Marinas - one of the UK’s leading marina groups - alongside British yacht builders Fairline, Princess Yachts and Sunseeker, the show continues to be defined by the calibre of its participants.
For 2026, the founding brands return with one of their most significant combined displays in recent years. Among the headline moments is the European debut of the new Fairline Targa 47 GT - a contemporary, owner-focused model balancing performance with versatility.
Alongside this, Princess will present an impressive fleet including the groundbreaking Princess X80, a yacht that redefines onboard space through its innovative super flybridge design. Sunseeker’s display is equally compelling, featuring the Manhattan 55, Predator 55 and the striking 82 Ocean - each showcasing the brand’s signature blend of performance, innovation and contemporary styling.
Nearby, the breadth of models on display offers a clear sense of how the market continues to evolve. From sleek sports cruisers to expansive flybridge yachts, the line-up reflects a spectrum of ownership styles - each defined by its own balance of design, performance and onboard living.
A broader perspective on modern yachting
Beyond the founding brands, the 2026 show introduces a deeper and more internationally influenced mix of yachts and builders.
Ancasta returns with one of the most comprehensive multi-brand displays, including Beneteau, Bluegame and Prestige, while Argo Yachting brings together Pardo, Galeon and Saxdor. SE Yachts will present Navan and Delta Powerboats, reflecting the continued demand for Scandinavian performance and design-led innovation.
Across the pontoons, individual yachts begin to tell their own story. The Absolute 52 Fly and Galeon 560 Fly highlight the enduring appeal of flybridge living, while models such as the Pardo 38 and Bavaria SR41 reflect a more relaxed, contemporary approach to coastal cruising. Elsewhere, the Fleming 55 and Van den Hoven
Voyager 56 introduce a sense of long-range capability - yachts designed not just for weekends, but for extended time on the water.
British craftsmanship remains a defining thread, with DALE Motor Yachts, Cockwells and B. Van den Hoven Jachtbouw reinforcing the enduring appeal of bespoke design and meticulous build quality.
Beyond the boats
While the yachts naturally take centre stage, the British Motor Yacht Show has long understood that ownership extends far beyond the vessel itself.
Ashore, the experience is underpinned by Premier Marinas, whose deep operational expertise and network of south coast marinas shape the practical realities of ownership. At Swanwick - widely regarded as its flagship location for motor yachts - visitors can engage directly with the specialists who support every stage of the journey, from finance and insurance through to berthing, maintenance and longterm yacht management.
Returning main sponsor CGI Finance provides tailored finance solutions, while Pelican Insured joins for 2026, reflecting the increasing importance of expert guidance around insurance and longterm protection.
A moment in the season
Positioned at the start of the European boating calendar, the British Motor Yacht Show offers something more nuanced than a traditional event. It is a moment of perspective - a chance to step aboard, compare, and consider what the season ahead might hold.
For those based in Sandbanks and along the South Coast, that opportunity comes with rare convenience. Within easy reach, Swanwick Marina - Premier’s flagship Hamble location - becomes, for four days each May, a discreet meeting point for some of the most respected names in yachting.

A NEW CHAPTER AT THE TANDY
Tucked into the heart of Sandbanks’ vibrant coastal scene, The Tandy has recently entered an exciting new chapter. Thoughtfully repositioned, it’s a stylish yet welcoming neighbourhood bar and eatery where locals gather, visitors linger, and every occasion, from morning coffee to celebratory cocktails, feels effortlessly special by the sea.
At its core, The Tandy is about community. Designed to welcome all ages and lifestyles, it’s equally popular with families returning for a traditional Sunday roast, friends meeting for coffee after a sea swim, or couples settling in for an intimate evening of small plates, wine and the occasional board game. Regular happenings such as Wine Club and live music evenings ensure there is always something new to discover.
The culinary direction reflects this inclusive yet elevated ethos. A Mediterranean-inspired small-plates menu encourages sharing and sociability, blending crowd-pleasing favourites with conversation-starting dishes like fried burrata and cockle popcorn. The approach is casual yet carefully curated, an experience that feels sophisticated without losing the relaxed Sandbanks spirit.
Daytime at The Tandy has its own distinctive rhythm. The Coffee Club attracts early risers, dog walkers and swimmers, while wellness-focused breakfasts featuring ingredients such as matcha and house-made granola offer a nourishing start to the day. It’s the kind of place where school-run coffees become lingering chats, with many guests returning later for lunch, supper or evening drinks.
In the evenings, a premium cocktail list, complete with theatrical touches like branded ice and martinis served in chilled carafes, positions The Tandy among the area’s most stylish drinking destinations. Thoughtfully crafted low- and no-alcohol options ensure everyone can enjoy the experience, reflecting the venue’s forwardthinking hospitality.
Seasonal celebrations and community moments add to the sense that The Tandy is woven into Sandbanks life, from menus celebrating local producers to special events and live music gatherings that bring neighbours together. Whether you’re dropping in for coffee, gathering for Sunday lunch or celebrating with friends, each visit feels personal and memorable.
In a destination known for its discerning tastes, The Tandy stands out by doing something deceptively simple: creating a warm, elegant space where community and occasion meet again and again.

From the elegant streets of Mayfair and the iconic Big Ben, to the magnificent Bank of England, award-winning pet photographer Andrew Raven uses London as his canvas to create fine art dog photography – transforming precious pets into true artistic masterpieces.
A Luxury Photoshoot Experience for Dog Lovers
Specialising in bespoke luxury photoshoot experiences, Andrew offers fine art dog portraits and hound-and-human portraits sessions, set against carefully composed scenes across the capital. A canine celebration - each shoot is thoughtfully designed to capture the beauty, personality and spirit of a much-loved companion - and when photographed together, the special bond between dog and owner.
The result is editorial, gallery-quality imagery that brings joy to a devoted dog lovers and creates something to truly treasure.
From Photoshoot to the Finished Artwork
“Award-winning pet photographer Andrew Raven uses London as his canvas to create fine art dog photography”
The intimate and bespoke experience begins with a Pre-Shoot Consultation, where Andrew works with the owner to curate a photoshoot that perfectly complements their dogs, and if photographed together, celebrates their shared love.
Once the logistics are agreed, the photography session takes place, lasting approximately 90 minutes. Priced £500, sessions are calm, relaxed and unhurried, so the dog can settle and let their natural character shine through. With Andrew’s extensive experience working with more sensitive or anxious rescues, comfort and wellbeing are always a priority, with poses never forced. For added peace of mind, Andrew is trained in canine first aid.
Following the shoot, dog lovers are invited to view their curated gallery with Andrew where they can make their selection of the portraits they wish to purchase and in which format.
Options include statement wall art pieces, handmade photo books or museum grade fine art prints. A single print is priced £150, but clients typically invest between £900 to £3,000 in Andrew’s canine art.
Beyond The Core Photo-Shoots
While Andrew’s main work takes place in outdoor locations across the capital, he also offers relaxed in-home portrait sessions.
These are ideal for dogs who feel anxious or reactive outside, senior souls who may find travel difficult, or even young pups whose gentle paws aren’t yet allowed into the wider world.
His photography service is also available internationally in major cities including New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Milan, Dubai, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, as well as other worldclass destinations. Throughout the year, Andrew hosts limited, highly sought-after seasonal themed shoots such as Chelsea in Bloom (for Spring) and Christmas portraits in festive Mayfair.
Commenting on his work, Andrew says:
“Dogs are far more than just pets –they are the heartbeat of our homes, loyal companions and offer nothing but unconditional love. They deserve to be celebrated. My aim is to create a relaxed, bespoke photography experience that feels like a walk alongside a trusted friend, who just happens to be capturing authentic moments unique to the canine subject, and the intimate connection they share with their human. I want the result to immortalise this and create a heartfelt piece of art to treasure.”
Formally an engineer, Andrew’s journey into photographing dogs began purely by chance. Having grown up without them, it was a trip to Cuba with his wife that sparked a new and unexpected love for dogs. Forming unlikely friendships with the strays, Andrew experienced the quiet loyalty and affection dogs offer while expecting very little in return. These encounters left a lasting impression and sparked a decision that his future would somehow involve working with dogs.
Already having an interest in photography, Andrew first photographed dogs while volunteering at animal shelters near his home shortly after his trip to Cuba. This then grew into photographing friends’ dogs, then friends of friends, until the independent enquiries started to come, and his pet photography was launched. However, it was lockdown that propelled Andrew’s business to what is it today – merging his other passions for architecture and urban landscapes, with his love for dogs.
Fast forward to today and Andrew’s unique work has received major recognition, with awards including the Pet Photographer of the Year at the 2025 British Photography Awards, a Bronze Award at the 1839 International Photography Awards, and three Honourable Mentions in the Dog Photography Awards.

MORGAN ELLIS LIFTS Elevating Lifestyles to the Next Level
For over a decade, Morgan Ellis Lifts has been enhancing how people move between floors, delivering beautifully engineered, thoughtfully designed home elevators across the UK. With a focus on both style and practicality, their bespoke lifts are increasingly chosen by architects, interior designers, and homeowners who value them as design features in their own right.
Morgan Ellis provides a complete end-to-end service, guiding clients from concept through to installation. Whether adding a discreet through-floor lift to a period property, installing a shaft elevator in a new build, or introducing a striking pneumatic vacuum lift as a statement feature, every project is tailored to suit the property’s layout and character.
Through partnerships with leading manufacturers, Morgan Ellis offers a wide range of lift options that combine advanced technology with refined design. From clean, minimalist cabins in soft tones to bespoke finishes in richer materials, each lift can be customised to either blend seamlessly into its surroundings or stand out as a bold, contemporary feature.
Current design trends emphasise openness, light, and integration. Glass shafts help maintain sightlines and allow natural light to flow between floors, while carefully considered metalwork and feature lighting can give even compact lifts a strong visual presence. Clients are offered a broad selection of finishes to ensure the lift complements the overall interior scheme.
Collaboration is central to the Morgan Ellis approach. By working closely with architects and designers early in the planning stages, lifts can be fully integrated into the home’s layout and flow. The company also has extensive experience retrofitting lifts into existing properties, adapting layouts and minimising disruption so installations feel seamless, even in finished or period homes.
Beyond residential projects, Morgan Ellis supplies commercial lifts, car lift systems, and ongoing servicing packages to ensure long-term reliability. With nationwide coverage and a showroom in Amersham, they continue to demonstrate how thoughtful design and practical living can work hand in hand – Elevating lifestyles to the next level.

Household Cavalry Museum
Located on Horse Guards Parade, the Household Cavalry Museum offers a rare glimpse into one of the oldest and most distinguished regiments in the British Army. With over 360 years of history, it traces the Household Cavalry from its royal origins in the 17th century to its modern dual role: serving as ceremonial troops to the Sovereign while operating as highly trained armoured reconnaissance soldiers. For those interested in Britain’s monarchy, military tradition, and pageantry, it promises an immersive and memorable experience.
What sets the museum apart is that it is not just a place to look back at history, but one where history is still alive. Through a large viewing window, visitors can watch serving soldiers tending to their
horses and preparing for ceremonial duties. Impeccably groomed horses, gleaming cuirasses, and the regiment’s iconic red and blue tunics form part of centuries-old tradition still maintained today. The museum also offers insight into the daily Changing of the Guard and inspection ceremonies, providing a front-row view of London’s most enduring royal rituals.
Inside, the story of the Household Cavalry is brought vividly to life. Lavish uniforms, historic saddlery, armour, and personal artefacts reveal how pageantry, discipline, and duty have evolved alongside the monarchy. Displays celebrate not only the splendour of royal ceremonies, but also the skill and craftsmanship behind every public appearance - from Trooping the Colour to state visits and coronations.
Families will find plenty to enjoy, with engaging children’s activities, interactive trails, and handson experiences designed to make history accessible and entertaining for younger visitors. Monthly guided tours offer deeper insight, as expert guides share behind-thescenes stories and fascinating details that bring the regiment’s traditions and its modern role vividly to life.
Situated moments from St James’s Park and Buckingham Palace, the museum is perfectly placed for a stop while exploring royal London. Whether visiting for the first time or returning, the Household Cavalry Museum provides a window into living royal history - a celebration of service, ceremony, and timeless pageantry.
A must-see for anyone eager to experience London’s royal heart.

Picture Perfect Art Lighting
We know that when you buy art, it is a very personal thing. What one person likes may be completely different to that of someone else. There is, however, one thing that they have in common, and that is the need to bring the subject matter to life. This might be revealing something hidden in the background that can only be seen when you look very closely. It may be the brush strokes, the layering, the subject matter, or just the feeling that it gives you when you look at it.
When lighting art, it is important to get this right. We don’t want you to be disappointed when you light your art, so we have designed our lighting solutions to produce the light at the right height & projection to bring out the very best light coverage without producing any glare points every time.
There are many styles and finishes available, but there are 6 key points to good lighting:
1. The colour of the light - Warm white (ideally 2700K)
2. Its colour rendition - Not lower than 95CRI
3. The spacing of the LEDs - dependent on the art width
4. The lensing on the LEDs - dependent on the art height
5. The light level - needs to be dimmable, this is art specific, &
6. The position of the head above the art - to remove any glare points
We understand this fully and offer the following Picture Perfect lighting options:
• New Supreme, Regal, Classic & Contemporary Styles
• LED Upgrade Kits Transform any existing picture light’s performance
• Framing Projectors When remote lighting is needed
To gain the very best lighting, there really is only one choice that is Picture Perfect.
“Just look at the difference good art lighting makes. We have upgraded an existing picture light with one of our LED Upgrade Kits.”
For whatever the shape or size

The annual Dorset Opera Festival is the place to be seen during the last week of July, as worldclass performers descend on the county to make this much-loved event a true highlight of the cultural calendar.
With spring now in full swing, the team behind Dorset’s most successful summer festival is already hard at work, coordinating designers, set builders and costume makers to bring this year’s productions vividly to life.
Now in its 52nd year, the Festival brings together around 280 participants. These include internationally acclaimed soloists making their British stage debuts; a full professional orchestra, conductors, music staff, plus dedicated production and technical teams. Wardrobe personnel are supported by students from the Arts University Bournemouth, while a team of 70 volunteers ensures everything runs smoothly during rehearsals and front of house.
The chorus of more than 60 singers, drawn from around the world, is already busy preparing the music for this year’s operas: Donizetti’s charming and humorous L’elisir d’amore (The Elixir of Love), and Saint-Saëns’ dramatic biblical epic Samson et Dalila.
The story of Samson is one of legend: a powerful leader whose strength lies in his uncut hair. Betrayed by Delilah, he reveals his secret and is shorn of his locks and blinded while he sleeps. Captured and humiliated, Samson ultimately prays for his power to be returned one final time, resulting in him singlehandedly bringing

PASSION, INNOVATION AND UNMATCHED CRAFTSMANSHIP
Aheritage British brand built around passion, innovation and unmatched craftsmanship,
Holland & Holland have long been at the forefront of London gun making, luxurious field wear and world-class shooting tuition. Established in 1835 this prestigious brand remains as one of the most desirable in their field.
Holland & Holland’s want for perfection continues to not only mirror, but it surpasses the expectation of their many clients all over the world. You’ll not only find unparalleled skill in every inch of each handmade gun that they produce, you will also find it in every garment and accessory in their clothing range.
Quality shooting attire that’s as practical as it is stylish, while being British made, is hard to find elsewhere. Their tweed selection all comes from the very home of tweed production itself and recently the brand launched a bespoke house tweed woven by Lovat Mill specifically for Holland & Holland. Intertwined in the fabric you’ll find a nod to the colour case hardening of their shotguns, the Circassian walnut of their stocks, the gold inlay found on many pieces as well as their signature green. Their garments showcase tradition while being extremely
wearable in both the country and in town. From moleskin trousers, essential field coats and tweed breeches to silk scarves, stylish caps and delicate silver accessories, every occasion has been taken care of.
The recently launched jungle range, an important homage to the company’s legacy surrounding expeditions of the late 19th century and early 20th century, caters for the more adventurous Holland & Holland clients who seek the thrill of the African bush and beyond. A collection, whilst well suited to warmer climes, also makes itself at home in the city for a rugged and contemporary look.
In what was once a predominantly male pursuit, Holland & Holland have ensured that the ladies’ range of clothing is as functional as the men’s selection. The Ladies Royal Shooting Coat is beautifully tailored to the female form, while still having everything you need from a field coat and possibly more. It is one of those pieces that once you try it on, you’ll never forget how well it fits, and more often or not it won’t be a coat you’ll want to leave behind.
You can explore their full range and latest additions on their website or simply visit one of their gunrooms. hollandandholland.com

ALDERNEY: THE CHANNEL ISLAND YOU’LL LOSE YOUR HEART TO
Alderney feels like a best-kept secret – and that is precisely its appeal. Often overlooked in favour of its larger neighbours, this small Channel Island quietly captures the heart of those who make the journey. It may be tiny, but its charm lingers long after you leave.
As the northernmost of the Channel Islands and the closest to the south coast of Great Britain, Alderney is surprisingly easy to reach. Direct flights from Southampton take just 40 minutes, while travelling via Guernsey adds a gentle island-hopping element. The final approach on Aurigny’s small Twin Otter aircraft is unforgettable, revealing turquoise seas, white beaches and rugged headlands below.
Life here moves at a gentler pace. With few cars and short distances, the island is best explored on foot or by bike. Days unfold naturally – a walk along dramatic cliff paths, an afternoon on a quiet beach, and dinner enjoyed slowly as the sun sets over the sea.
Despite being just eight miles from the French coast, Alderney remains refreshingly uncommercialised. Around 40 miles of footpaths cross the island, leading to sweeping viewpoints, sandy bays and encounters with remarkable wildlife. Internationally recognised for its birdlife, Alderney is home to extraordinary seabird
colonies at Les Etacs and Burhou, where gannets and puffins gather in spectacular numbers. Dolphins and grey seals are often spotted in surrounding waters.
As night falls, the island reveals another rare luxury: truly dark skies. With little light pollution, stargazing is exceptional, with the Milky Way often stretching across the horizon.
History is woven throughout the landscape, from Neolithic dolmens and Roman remains to Napoleonic towers and Victorian forts. At the island’s heart lies St Anne, a charming town of cobbled streets, independent shops and welcoming cafés.
Dining celebrates fresh local produce, particularly seafood, served in relaxed restaurants and cosy pubs. Add boutique stays, coastal adventures and a lively events calendar, and Alderney offers the perfect balance of tranquillity and discovery.

LIGHTHOUSE AT THE END OF THE WORLD
When I travel alone for business, I guard my passport closely. This time, travelling with my family, my wife takes charge of the documents. Intended as a kindness, it leaves me oddly untethered – wandering the airport feeling faintly stateless as we set off for Norway.
This is not a conventional holiday, but a journey. With our two children, aged 8 and 6, we head for the Lofoten Archipelago, ultimately bound for Litløya – a small island crowned by a decommissioned lighthouse, with Greenland the next landfall to the west. The island’s history stretches back thousands of years, though today it feels at the very edge of the world.
We begin in Naustholmen, hosted by Randi Skaug, the first Norwegian woman to summit Everest. Her remote island hotel, reached by boat, blends history and adventure. Meals arrive without menus, and our children – used to choice – quickly adapt, eating everything set before them. With no alternatives, there is no negotiation. It is a quiet revelation.
Days are spent climbing real rock for the first time, kayaking, hiking, and moving between sauna heat and icy water. Confidence builds quickly –both theirs and ours – as the environment gently stretches us all.
From there, we travel west as the Vikings once did, guided by distant peaks, until Litløya comes into view. The lighthouse appears suddenly – red, striking, and improbably beautiful. Here,
Elena, the keeper-turned-hotelier, has transformed a former working station into a place of understated comfort, with thoughtful interiors that reflect both landscape and personality.
Life on the island settles into a simple rhythm. We hike to empty white-sand beaches, spot sea eagles, and watch the Arctic light stretch late into the evening. Time feels both expansive and fleeting.
Fishing one afternoon with my son, we catch enough for dinner. Then, unexpectedly, a humpback whale breaches nearby –impossibly close. For a moment we are silent, before exhilaration takes over.
We had wondered whether three days on such a small island might feel limiting. Instead, it proves the opposite – a shared experience that stays with us long after we leave.

There is a particular kind of escape that more of us are seeking now; not simply a night away but a genuine pause. Beautiful scenery, open skies, a place where nature sets the pace. At Carvers Hill Estate, Wiltshire’s finest vineyard and winery, that pause comes with a glass of exceptional English wine.
Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and just a short journey from London, Carvers Hill is one of Wiltshire’s premium destinations. Visitors including Prue Leith and Michel Roux Jr. have wandered these vines, drawn by a shared curiosity: what happens when English terroir, meticulous craftsmanship and warm hospitality come together.
ESCAPE TO THE VINES: WILTSHIRE’S STUNNING OFF-GRID RETREAT FOR WINE LOVERS
The Estate’s Grand Tour offers an engaging introduction. Guests walk the vineyard to understand how the land shapes each vintage, before stepping into the winery for an unfiltered look at production. Small groups ensure the experience feels intimate and conversational
with exclusive tastings straight from the tank or barrel. Paired with a locally sourced lunch platter and generous servings of the finest wines – an unhurried opportunity to appreciate the craftsmanship behind each bottle.
However, it is after the tour that Carvers Hill truly fulfils its promise to help guests unwind. A short walk from the vines, cedarclad woodland cabins sit quietly between the trees. Completely off-grid, they entice guests to disconnect from the everyday and reconnect with something simpler; expansive countryside views from the kingsized bed, a cosy log burner and evenings spent under starlit skies. With vineyard stays in such short supply across the UK, the opportunity to spend the night on a working estate feels quietly special.
The luxury here is subtle but assured: beautifully crafted interiors, thoughtful design and the rare pleasure of privacy within a landscape that feels untouched. To awake on a vineyard, coffee in hand, with no schedule beyond the rhythm of the day, is still a unique experience in Britain.

The Return to the Unseen CURATED WITH CLASSIC CHARTERS
Some places feel familiar long before you arrive.
The Mediterranean, with its storied coastlines and centuries of history. New England, with its quiet harbours and enduring maritime traditions. And yet, even in these well-charted waters, there remains something elusive, a world just beyond the expected, waiting to be rediscovered.
What we’ve seen with Classic Charters, is that the art lies in revealing this quieter side, that speaks volumes. Not by going further, but by going differently. With nearly two decades of experience, their approach is rooted in understanding how a place can unfold when timing, perspective, and intent align. The result is a journey that feels both deeply personal and quietly extraordinary.
This summer, two classic schooners offer distinct expressions of that philosophy. In New England, EROS moves effortlessly between secluded anchorages and historic coastal towns, from Newport RI to Portland Maine, along a wildly rugged coastline, where the rhythm of the sea still shapes daily life. Mornings begin with mist lifting from the water; afternoons drift between sailing and on land exploration; evenings settle into understated elegance.
In the Mediterranean, Orianda reveals a different kind of discovery, one that exists beyond the familiar veneer of well-known
destinations. Here, the experience is less about where you are, and more about how you arrive. A hidden bay amongst the La Maddalena Archipelago at golden hour, a quiet harbour just as the day begins to soften, the sense of stepping momentarily outside the expected.
“I think in life one of the biggest luxuries is being able to remain barefoot and salty-haired from sunrise to sunset,” says Director Dominic Meredith Hardy. “It’s that freedom, the absence of formality, that allows life to reveal itself in its quiet, surprising moments.”
“The essence of discovery hasn’t disappeared, it’s simply become more nuanced,” Hardy continues. “As with life, the same coastline can yield a thousand different experiences. Whether in New England or the Mediterranean, it’s about positioning our clients to experience a place in a way that feels entirely their own.”
In a world where so much is seen before it is experienced, the unseen becomes the ultimate luxury. Through careful curation, deep local knowledge, and an instinct for timing, Classic Charters creates the conditions for journeys that feel spontaneous, yet perfectly placed.
Because sometimes, the most remarkable discoveries are the unexpected moments, the quiet, magical corners of the world and yourself that are too often overlooked. classic-charters.com

FTHE POWER OF PARTNERSHIP
rom a pioneering partnership with The BRIT School to exciting new sporting collaborations, Bryanston is building relationships that create opportunity and shape brighter futures for young people.
When we reflect on what defines Bryanston, one element stands at the heart of it all: relationships. Authentic and positive relationships are not simply part of who we are; they are the foundation on which everything else is built. They shape the way we teach, the way we learn and the way we connect with one another and with the wider world.
This ethos lies at the centre of our partnership work. At its core, partnership is about building relationships and working collaboratively with others to create lasting impact within our communities and beyond. In recent months, as this work has evolved at Bryanston, what has stood out is the extraordinary energy and commitment of our pupils, staff, and alumni. They have embraced new ideas with openness and enthusiasm for what can be achieved when people unite around a shared vision.
We are immensely proud of the breadth, richness and holistic nature of a Bryanston education. At the same time, we recognise that some of the greatest impact comes when we look beyond our
own campus. By collaborating with other schools, organisations and businesses, we learn from existing expertise, complement one another’s strengths and co-create initiatives with local, national and even international relevance. Partnership allows us not only to share what we do well, but also to adapt, grow and evolve.
A key principle underpinning this work is relevance. To have real reach and impact, we must remain connected both to the communities we serve and to the wider world our young people will enter. At its best, partnership is not simply enriching; it is enabling. It opens doors, broadens horizons and creates the kinds of experiences and relationships that can shape futures. It gives young people the confidence to imagine endless possibilities.
This is already being brought to life through our partnership with The BRIT School. This exciting collaboration brings together Bryanston’s long-established excellence in music, drama and the creative arts with The BRIT School’s nationally recognised expertise in the performing and creative industries. It is a natural meeting of strengths, underpinned by a belief in the transformative power of creativity and in the importance of developing talent in an inclusive and forward-looking way.
“Our partnership work is also expanding in exciting new sporting directions”
Together, we have launched an ambitious programme of joint initiatives for pupils and staff. These include residential opportunities for BRIT students at Bryanston, shared access to professional creative networks, specialist workshops, co-created performances, and joint staff training and development. By pooling expertise, ideas and facilities, we are broadening horizons for young people passionate about the arts, both at our school and beyond, while enriching the educational experience for everyone involved. The value lies not only in what each school offers individually, but in what can be created together.
Our partnership work is also expanding in exciting new sporting directions. This month, we begin a new relationship with Pulse Netball to launch the region’s first Netball Centre of Excellence at Bryanston. This initiative will strengthen elite pathways for young netballers across the South and South West of England, helping to raise performance standards across the region. It is an important example of how partnership can support both excellence and access while connecting school sport to wider professional pathways.
At the same time, we are deepening collaboration within our alumni community. Through initiatives such as Bry30 and the Founders Forum, we are building stronger connections between
former pupils and those currently at school. Through mentoring, apprenticeships, internships, and professional networking, alumni can offer invaluable support to the next generation and to one another. These connections instil a lifelong community.
Looking ahead, partnerships such as the one with The BRIT School have the potential to become a model for meaningful collaboration between state and independent schools. By sharing best practice and trialling innovative approaches, we hope to contribute to a wider movement that benefits more schools and more young people across the UK and beyond.
At the heart of all these partnerships lies a shared belief in the power of education and human connection. Successful partnerships must be collaborative, aligned, coordinated, evidence-led, supportive and sustainable. Above all, they must be genuine, based on shared values and in a real commitment to creating brighter futures for young people.
As we continue to strengthen and expand partnerships across our communities, we are growing possibilities for every child.
Liz Thornton is Deputy Head, Staff & Partnerships at Bryanston School bryanston.co.uk
WHY THE BEST SCHOOLS UNDERSTAND THAT CHILDREN LEARN DIFFERENTLY
In today’s world, the most successful schools share a simple but powerful understanding: children do not all learn in the same way. The best schools recognise this difference not as a challenge to overcome, but as a strength to embrace.
At Clayesmore, this philosophy is central. Education here is built on recognising each child as an individual - their interests, talents, and learning styles - so they feel empowered to thrive. For some pupils, this means stretching academic ambition to the highest level; for others, it means building confidence, motivation, or discovering talents that may not emerge in a more rigid environment.
Clayesmore’s inclusive approach is evident in the breadth of its education. Academic achievement sits alongside creativity, sport, leadership, and intellectual curiosity, encouraging pupils to explore widely and find what inspires them. Opportunities such as Model United Nations, Young Enterprise, and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award help build independence and perspective. The distinctive LEX programme, spanning Prep School to Sixth Form, provides tailored experiences that develop character, resilience, and leadership over time. Success at Clayesmore is not measured by a single standard, but by progress, confidence, and each child’s ability to discover what they can achieve.
The school recognises that pupils following different paths is natural and mutually beneficial, preparing students for life beyond school. By nurturing social and emotional wellbeing, empathy, and a broad outlook, Clayesmore creates a dynamic environment where pupils learn from one another and contribute to a community defined
by energy, acceptance, and respect. Results reflect this philosophy. Academically driven pupils achieve excellent results and secure places at leading universities, including Russell Group institutions. At the same time, those with creative, practical, or entrepreneurial talents are guided toward pathways that suit them, progressing to specialist colleges, apprenticeships, or university courses where they can excel.
Inclusive excellence lies at the heart of Clayesmore. By recognising that every child learns differently, the school empowers each pupil to succeed in their own way - leaving not only with strong outcomes but also with the character, perspective, and resilience to flourish in whatever path they choose.
To learn more about Clayesmore’s approach, join us on May 9 - explore the school, meet our team, and see first-hand how we help every child thrive. admissions@clayesmore.com

JUNIOR KING’S AND THE KING’S SCHOOL CANTERBURY A Seamless Pathway
At King’s, we are committed to ensuring every pupil’s school journey is well-supported, engaging, and tailored to their individual strengths and interests. Located just under an hour from Central London, our schools offer families the rare combination of outstanding academic provision within a beautiful, historic setting, alongside excellent transport links and accessibility.
The 11+ provision at Junior King’s (for pupils aged 3–13) plays a key role in this journey, offering a smooth and carefully structured transition into Senior King’s while preserving the many advantages of a prep school education. This continuity is particularly valued by families seeking a clear and confident pathway from London and the South East into a leading independent school.
Joining Junior King’s in Year 7 gives children the opportunity to benefit from two additional years of prep school learning, where curiosity remains central, creativity is celebrated, and the freedom to explore is preserved. Year 7 and 8 pupils enjoy a broad and exciting curriculum supported by small class sizes, excellent facilities, and a strong pastoral system. Each pupil is known as an individual and guided in a way that helps them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Through places offered at 11+ allow families to plan with confidence. Pupils benefit from regular contact with the senior school through visits, shared events, and lessons delivered by Senior King’s staff. This
familiarity helps build a strong sense of continuity and belonging, so that by the time pupils move on to Year 9, the transition feels natural and positive.
The curriculum, too, is closely aligned across both schools. Our Global Perspectives programme begins in Year 7 and continues through to Year 9, encouraging pupils to think critically, ask questions, and explore global themes - valuable preparation for the challenges of GCSEs, A Levels, and life beyond school.
While the 11+ pathway offers a strong and connected route through King’s, we are equally proud of our large and vibrant 13+ intake. New joiners at this stage bring fresh ideas, new friendships, and help ensure our community remains dynamic and diverse.
We would be delighted to welcome you to join us for one of our Open Mornings, held throughout the year at both Junior King’s and The King’s School Canterbury. Easily accessible from Central London and the surrounding regions, individual tours are also available by appointment. kings-school.co.uk
NEW HEAD, ROSS CAMERON, LEADING
TALBOT HEATH INTO THE FUTURE
New Talbot Heath Head, Ross Cameron: Q&A
How do you see the school’s heritage and traditions informing –rather than limiting – its future direction?
Talbot Heath’s heritage is a tremendous asset and reflects generations of ambition, resilience and pioneering spirit; qualities that remain deeply and particularly relevant today. Our 140 year history is a foundation on which to build, offering continuity and identity as we evolve and embrace the future. By honoring our heritage while embracing new ideas, we can create a future that is both rooted and forward-looking. Tradition at Talbot Heath is not a constraint; it is liberating. It gives girls a sense of belonging while helping them to thrive in the future.
How do you see the role of a girls’ school evolving in a world that is changing socially, technologically and culturally at great speed?
Talbot Heath has always been forward-thinking, and schools like ours now have an even greater responsibility and opportunity to lead with clarity and purpose. As society evolves, we must help girls navigate complexity with confidence, compassion, and critical thinking. Our role extends well beyond exam preparation; it is about equipping young women for a world shaped by rapid technological change and shifting social norms. Talbot Heath’s heritage of innovation positions us perfectly to empower
girls to lead ethically, think boldly and engage thoughtfully with the world.
In an increasingly competitive education landscape, what do you believe truly sets this school apart?
Talbot Heath stands out for its unique blend of academic ambition, exceptional pastoral care and a pioneering spirit that has defined the school for generations. It is a place where girls are encouraged to be intellectually adventurous while also being supported as individuals. The sense of community is warm, inclusive and aspirational. What sets Talbot Heath apart is not just what we achieve, but how we achieve it – through relationships, high expectations and a belief in every girl’s individual potential.
What core values guide your leadership, and how do you ensure they are felt day-to-day by pupils, staff and families – not just written on paper?
My leadership is grounded in integrity, kindness and high aspiration – values that resonate strongly with Talbot Heath, which nurtures curious minds, generous hearts and adventurous spirits. These principles matter only if they are lived daily. I strive to model them through open communication, careful listening and consistent expectations. Culture is shaped by countless small interactions, so I focus on visibility and approachability. By celebrating effort, encouraging reflection and buiding trust, I aim to ensure that pupils, staff and families genuinely feel the values that have long defined Talbot Heath.
How do you view the partnership between school and families, and how will you strengthen that relationship?
Talbot Heath has always valued strong relationships with families, and I see this partnership as a cornerstone of every pupil’s success. Parents bring invaluable insight into their daughters’ strengths, needs and aspirations.
Strengthening this relationship means open communication, transparency and a shared commitment to wellbeing and achievement. BOURNEMOUTH COLLEGIATE SCHOOL:
A COMPLETE EDUCATION FROM 3 TO 18
Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions a parent will make. You are not simply choosing a place of academic instruction, but a community that will shape your child’s confidence, character and ambitions.
At Bournemouth Collegiate School (BCS), education is a continuous journey from Early Years through to Sixth Form - combining academic rigour with exceptional pastoral care.
With the Prep School located in Lower Parkstone, Poole and the Senior School and Sixth Form based in Southbourne, Bournemouth, families benefit from distinct yet closely connected environments that together form one cohesive school community.
A Nurturing and Ambitious Start at BCS Prep
The foundations for success are laid early at BCS Prep. From the moment children join in Early Years, they are immersed in a warm, purposeful environment where curiosity is celebrated and independence carefully nurtured. Guided by The Curiosity Approach, classrooms are designed to inspire awe and wonder, using authentic resources and open-ended experiences to
encourage exploration, creativity and deep thinking.
Learning blends structured teaching with discovery and imagination. Early literacy and numeracy are carefully built, ensuring pupils develop secure foundations alongside growing self-belief. Small class sizes mean teachers know each child well - their strengths, interests and next steps - enabling truly personalised support.
As pupils progress into Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, academic ambition grows alongside character development. A broad and balanced curriculum ensures strength in English and mathematics, while science, humanities, computing and the creative arts broaden understanding. Specialist teaching in languages, sport and the arts further enriches the experience.
Beyond the classroom, pupils benefit from competitive sport, musical performances, drama productions, clubs and educational visits. Our dedicated Forest School provides regular opportunities for children to learn in a woodland setting, developing resilience, teamwork and confidence. Leadership opportunities encourage responsibility and confidence from an early age. Throughout their journey, strong pastoral care ensures that every child feels secure, valued and happy - a crucial ingredient in lasting academic success.
Confident Progression into Senior School
The transition into the Senior School is seamless. Pupils arrive in Year 7 academically prepared and socially confident, ready to embrace greater independence. The Senior School builds on the Prep foundations with a broad curriculum leading to GCSEs, A Levels and vocational pathways.
Academic outcomes are consistently strong, supported by excellent value-added progress across a range of abilities. Teaching is ambitious yet supportive, encouraging pupils to think critically, debate confidently and develop intellectual independence.
The Sixth Form experience provides a distinctive bridge to adulthood. Students benefit from tailored mentoring, university and careers guidance, and opportunities such as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which fosters independent research and specialist academic exploration. Pupils progress to leading universities, apprenticeships and professional pathways equipped with clarity and confidence.
A Rich Co-Curricular Life
Across both sites, co-curricular life plays a central role in shaping well-rounded individuals. Sport is a particular strength, with opportunities for competitive fixtures and specialist coaching. The creative arts flourish through drama productions, music ensembles and art showcases. Trips, outdoor education and leadership initiatives broaden horizons and strengthen teamwork and resilience.
Flexible boarding options, including weekly and flexi boarding, provide additional structure and independence for families who value a supportive community beyond the school day.
A Community with Character
What truly distinguishes Bournemouth Collegiate School is its sense of community. From Early Years through to Sixth Form, pupils are known as individuals and encouraged to contribute positively to school life. Respect, kindness and ambition are embedded into daily routines, creating an environment where children feel safe to challenge
themselves and grow.
Parents value the partnership approach and the open communication that ensures they remain closely involved in their child’s progress and wellbeing.
BCS offers more than academic milestones; it offers a complete educational journey. From the nurturing environment of the Prep School to the ambitious and future-focused Senior and Sixth Form experience, pupils are prepared not only for examinations, but for life - with curiosity, resilience and character at the heart of everything they do.

RAMPLEY & CO
The Spring Collection 2026
Rampley & Co presents its Spring 2026 collection, early-season dressing considered at its most considered, drawing on the finest silks, wools and linens to offer a wardrobe built for the months ahead.
London-based luxury menswear brand Rampley & Co has unveiled its Spring 2026 collection, bringing together 75 pieces that span tailored jackets, handmade silk ties, art-inspired pocket squares and lightweight linen accessories. The collection reflects the brand’s enduring commitment to craft, quality of material and the kind of considered dressing that does not rush to meet the season.
At the heart of the collection is an expanded range of tailored jackets in cloths chosen for the transitional months: Light-Blue Hopsack Wool-Linen, Rust Check Wool Blend and Light-Grey Hopsack Wool Blend sit alongside perennial favourites in herringbone merino and superfine wool. Each jacket is crafted with a silk lining, one of the house signatures, and is available in a range of chest sizes.
The accessories tell a story of spring through colour and motif. New pocket squares draw directly from the history of art: the Spring Morning in the Heart of the City by Childe Hassam and The Boulevard Montmartre in Spring, both rendered in fine silk, bring Impressionist light and movement
“Before you’ve said a word, colour has already done some of the talking. The tones you choose in your jacket, tie or pocket square subtly shape how you’re perceived, whether that’s confident, considered, creative or reserved.”

to the breast pocket. Van Gogh’s Oranges & Lemons and Green Wheat Fields continue the painterly thread, as do Renoir’s Luncheon of the Boating Party and Sorolla’s Paseo a orillas del mar.
In ties, the season introduces new knitted wool-cashmere blends in Ecru, Bottle Green, Oxblood, and Midnight Blue, alongside an expanded range of stripe and medallion silks, including a Burnt Yellow & Blue Floral Repeat and a richly toned Tobacco & Blue Medallion. All ties are handmade in Italy from silk sourced in Como.
Completing the collection is a concise edit of linen pocket squares in White, Pale Yellow, and Windsor Blue, ideal for warmer-weather dressing, and a selection of the brand’s waxed-cotton bags and luggage, made in England from vegetable-tanned leather.

SKINIMALISM 2.0: THE ELEVATED RETURN TO EFFORTLESS BEAUTY
Less coverage, more intention – 2026’s defining beauty trend refines the “no-makeup makeup” look into something altogether more luxurious, wearable and intelligently curated.
In 2026, beauty is taking a decisive step away from maximalism and heavy transformation, instead embracing what industry insiders are calling Skinimalism 2.0. Building on the pared-back routines that gained traction in recent years, this evolution is less about doing less – and more about doing just enough, exceptionally well.
The aesthetic draws from a blend of influences: the glassy, litfrom-within skin synonymous with Korean beauty, the understated ease of French pharmacy staples, and a broader cultural shift toward wellness, longevity and authenticity. The result is skin that looks like skin – refined, luminous and quietly perfected. Think breathable bases, softly groomed brows and a natural flush that appears to come from within.
What defines this new phase is its precision. Earlier interpretations of minimal beauty often leaned overly casual; Skinimalism 2.0 is more intentional. Texture plays a central role, with sheer, skin-enhancing formulas replacing heavy foundations. Complexion products are designed to blur rather than conceal, allowing freckles, tone variations and natural contours to remain visible. It is not about covering imperfections, but diffusing them.
Equally important is the shift toward hybrid products. Skincareinfused foundations, serum concealers and balm-like blushers streamline routines while improving skin quality over time. This dualpurpose approach aligns with increasingly busy lifestyles, particularly for those balancing travel, work and social commitments. The routine is efficient, but never rushed in its effect.
Application techniques have also evolved. Fingers are often favoured over brushes, pressing product into the skin for a seamless finish. Concealer is used sparingly – around the eyes, the sides of the nose or on isolated blemishes – rather than applied broadly. Cream textures dominate, melting into the skin and avoiding any sense of buildup. The overall effect is polished but imperceptible. Crucially, this is a trend defined by accessibility. It does not require professional skill or a lengthy routine, making it highly adaptable for everyday wear. A well-prepped base remains essential: hydrated, balanced skin ensures that lighter
NARS RADIANT CREAMY CONCEALER
products perform at their best. From there, a simple sequence – sheer base, targeted concealer, subtle colour – creates a look that feels both modern and effortless.
The versatility of Skinimalism 2.0 is part of its appeal. It can be worn to the office, on long-haul flights or for evening occasions with minimal adjustment. A touch of highlighter or a softly defined eye can elevate the look without compromising its core principle of restraint. It is beauty that moves with the wearer, rather than sitting on top of them.
Ultimately, this trend reflects a broader recalibration within luxury. Excess is giving way to refinement, and visibility to subtlety. In a landscape where authenticity is increasingly prized, the most compelling beauty looks are those that enhance rather than obscure. Skinimalism 2.0 captures that shift perfectly –quietly confident, intelligently executed and undeniably modern.

FROM ALLERGY MUM TO ADVOCATE: Why one Doctor’s story resonates with so many families
The moment my son reacted to milk during weaning is one I will never forget. One minute we were introducing a new food, the next we were facing hives, vomiting and sheer panic. As both a parent and a doctor, it was terrifying - and it changed the course of my life.
Like many families navigating allergies, we quickly learned that the condition does not simply affect the child; it shapes daily routines, social events, school choices and even sleep. The constant vigilance can be exhausting. I was working as a GP and training in general surgery at the time, yet suddenly my professional path felt incomplete. I wanted to do more - not only for my own child, but for the thousands of families living with the same uncertainty.
Retraining as an allergy specialist was not an easy decision, but it was a necessary one. Completing a Master’s in Allergy and establishing a dedicated clinic allowed me to combine medical expertise with lived experience. Today, I work with families every day who arrive feeling frightened and overwhelmed, and leave with knowledge, reassurance and a clear plan forward.
As I often tell parents, “When I say I understand something must be tough, it’s not just ‘doctor speak’. It’s because I have the scars of a path trodden.” That shared understanding is powerful. It builds trust and reminds families that they are not alone.
My journey has included personal challenges beyond allergies, including a recent battle with breast cancer, which deepened my appreciation for compassionate, patient-centred care. Adversity has a way of sharpening purpose. For me, it strengthened my determination to improve access to expert support and practical treatment options, including therapies that can help children and
adults safely tolerate foods once feared. At Dr Helen Allergy in Ringwood, we are proud to offer immunotherapy and up-to-date, evidence based treatment options that transform lives for the better.
Every allergy family has a story. Mine simply gave me the fuel to help others write a more hopeful chapter.
Through her Ringwood-based clinic, advocacy work and education efforts, Dr Helen and her wider team continue to empower families - turning fear into confidence and uncertainty into hope.

String Nix® is a British underwear brand built around one quiet luxury hero: an organic cotton string thong designed to disappear under real clothes. The fit is minimal and smooth, with a refined, barely there feel and a clean edge that sits flat, so you’re not thinking about VPL, seams or readjusting during the day. It is lingerie designed for how women actually dress from denim and tailoring to silk slips and occasion wear.

inspired by natural skin tones and the neutral palette of a modern wardrobe. One simple shape, repeated across a thoughtful shade range, keeps the drawer streamlined while still feeling polished. String Nix® is about the small details that quietly improve your day. Underwear that works under a favourite dress or suit, doesn’t show through, and doesn’t fight with the rest of your outfit. REGAIN CONFIDENCE WITH SPECIALIST PELVIC FLOOR PHYSIOTHERAPY
Pelvic floor physiotherapy is a highly effective and evidence-based branch of physiotherapy designed to strengthen and retrain the pelvic floor muscles in both women and men. Clinical studies show that structured pelvic floor muscle training significantly reduces symptoms of urinary incontinence, with around 62% of patients experiencing improvement or complete resolution of symptoms. Importantly, these benefits extend to both women and men, including those recovering from prostate surgery or experiencing long-term pelvic dysfunction.
Pelvic floor disorders are more common than many realise. Up to 32% of women will experience a pelvic floor condition during their lifetime, while many men also face issues such as bladder control problems, pelvic pain, or post-surgical complications. Bladder weakness alone is more common than hay fever, and many individuals avoid everyday activities – such as exercise, socialising, or even laughing – due to fear of leakage or discomfort.
At Atkins Physiotherapy, our specialist pelvic floor physiotherapist provides expert, discreet care for both men and women. Every treatment plan is carefully designed following a thorough assessment, ensuring a personalised and effective approach.
Our treatment options include:
• Pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT) – the gold standard, supported by extensive research
• Percutaneous Tibial Nerve Stimulation (PTNS) – a minimally invasive therapy to regulate bladder and bowel function
• Biofeedback and neuromodulation therapy – helping patients improve awareness and control of pelvic floor muscles
While some adjunct therapies such as biofeedback can support awareness and engagement, research shows that structured exercise programmes remain the key driver of long-term improvement. This highlights the importance of expert guidance and consistent, targeted rehabilitation.
We commonly treat:
• Bladder and bowel dysfunction (frequency, urgency, incontinence)
• Pelvic floor dysfunction
• Pelvic pain
• Pelvic organ prolapse
• Post-prostate surgery rehabilitation
• Antenatal and postnatal concerns
Pelvic floor physiotherapy is considered very safe and is recommended as a first-line treatment in many clinical guidelines. Beyond physical improvements, research consistently shows meaningful gains in confidence, independence, and overall quality of life for those undergoing treatment.
Left untreated, pelvic floor problems can affect daily activities, relationships, and even work life. With the right support, however, these conditions are highly manageable – and often significantly improved.

LET THERE BE LIGHT!
Light doesn’t just change how a space looks. It changes how you feel within it.
Light sharpens focus, softens mood, and shapes the energy of a room in ways that are often felt before they are consciously understood. And yet, in many homes, light is treated as something to manage rather than something to design with.
At BAYA Interiors, light is where everything begins. Not as an aesthetic layer, but as a tool to shape experience - influencing how we move, think, rest and connect. Because the most powerful interiors don’t just hold objects - they hold emotion.
As spring brings longer days and a natural shift in rhythm, it offers a moment to reconsider not just how a home looks, but how it performs. Lighter living isn’t about stripping things back or playing it safe. It’s about creating clarity, and designing spaces that allow the mind to settle and the body to relax.
As Creative Director Karl Openshaw puts it, “People often think lightness means less - less colour, less texture, less presence. But for us, it’s the opposite. It’s about using light to unlock a space. To stretch it, heighten it, and give it energy. When you get it right, a room doesn’t just feel brighter - it feels freer. You think more clearly. You move differently. You want to be in it.”
This is where BAYA takes a different view. Lightness isn’t minimal. It’s intentional. It’s created through the interplay of surface, texture and colour, and how each responds to light throughout the day. A mirrored wall doesn’t just reflect a room, it expands it, doubling sightlines and amplifying natural brightness in a way that shifts perception. Polished metals catch movement and flicker with energy, bringing a subtle dynamism to otherwise still spaces. Soft matte finishes absorb light, grounding a room
and creating moments of pause.
The considered use natural light plays a central role in this choreography. As Openshaw adds, “Natural light is one of the most defining, and often overlooked, elements of any interior. Before settling on colours, materials, or finishes, it’s essential to observe and understand how light moves through a space across the day - which direction it faces, how it shifts, and how the room is practically lived in. When you factor in these nuances, you have the foundations to build a scheme that truly responds to the space.”
At Prince of Wales Drive, this approach manifests in a dialogue between interior and landscape. Natural wood and green glass accents don’t just reference the surrounding parklandthey draw it inward, allowing light to carry that connection through the apartment. As daylight shifts, so too does the atmosphere: bright and energising in the morning, softer and more restorative by evening. The space adapts to the rhythm of the day, supporting different states of mind without needing to be reconfigured.
At Powerhouse, Chelsea Waterfront, light is used to animate materiality. Rippled bronze, high-gloss finishes and sculptural forms don’t sit quietly - they interact with light, creating movement, reflection and depth.
This is the difference between designing a space and designing an experience.
When light is used strategically - extended through glazing, amplified through reflective surfaces, softened through texture - it doesn’t just brighten a room. It changes how that room is inhabited. Spaces feel more open, but also more intuitive. There is less friction,
“Lightness in design isn’t just about brightness, it’s about how a space makes you feel”
less visual noise. A sense of ease emerges, not by accident, but by design.
As Managing Director Philippa Simoson reflects, “Lightness in design isn’t just about brightness, it’s about how a space makes you feel. When rooms are given space to breathe, and materials are used with intent, a home begins to support you in a more instinctive way - encouraging calm, clarity and presence.”
For homeowners, this isn’t about following a seasonal trend. It’s about understanding how their environment shapes their everyday experience. Where light falls, how surfaces respond, and how a space holds them, or holds them back.
Because the most meaningful transformation isn’t always about adding more. Sometimes, it’s about creating just enough space for light to move, for energy to shift, and for life to feel lighter in every sense.

THE MAKINGS OF THE MODERN GARDEN
Don’t deny it - we all saw it. Daylight. The first bountiful beams of sun poking through the clouds herald a wave of something we like to call the garden gaze. Those fleeting moments when you catch a glimpse of the space at the back of your home, almost as if it has suddenly appeared: a green, growing landmass you’re seeing for the very first time. Having almost forgotten it, one of the most important areas of your home is about to burst back into life. You utter to yourself, “We need to do something about the garden.”
But what does the modern garden look like? Well, as with every aspect of home design, it depends entirely on you. Still, we thought we’d give you a bit of a cheat sheet. So here are five templates to get you started in growing your style. Different aesthetics that, with the right furniture, will make your outdoor space the ultimate spring hosting spot and the perfect outdoor escape.
MID-CENTURY MASTERS:
If one era of design that will forever have it’s time in the sunlight - metaphorically and physically - then midcentury is it. Classics of the genre have become icons of the present, so much so that outdoor versions of some of the world’s most beloved designs are now cultivating stylish gardens and cropping up in spaces far beyond even the brilliant imaginations of Eames and Saarinen could have predicted.
Take one of the old masters: Cassina’s Fauteuil Grand Comfort (the sofa formerly known as LC3) is a seating solution that has shaped some of the suavest settings this side of the ’50s, now allowing people to bask in its natural charisma beyond four walls - and beyond the 20th century.
THE ANGLO-CLASSIC:
We’re a bit bonkers about our gardens in this country. With a staggering 85% of us living in urbanised areas,
you can understand why we love our personal patches of land so much. It’s likely why the RHS Chelsea Flower Show attracts over 140,000 horticulture enthusiasts each year, all eager to gaze upon its creative floral dioramas. But what makes a stereotypical UK outdoor space? As most of our parents would likely tell us: big flowers, winding trees, about forty forgotten gardening gloves and, of course, enough furniture to fit the entire street when BBQ season comes around.
We find that looking a little further afield and investing in some stunning Scandi furniture, like Gubi or Cane-line, suits the eloquence of the Great British garden perfectly.
THE MODERN MEDITERRANEAN:
Synonymous with good weather, good food andmost importantly - a healthier work/life balance. When you think of a part of the world where people truly know how to enjoy the outdoors, your mind instinctively heads off to Stansted and lands somewhere closer to the equator. If you’re lucky, somewhere on the Mediterranean Sea. So why not bring a slice of the sun a little closer to home? Bring a bold colour palette, break out the good wine and get ready for dining al fresco.
Create a modern Mediterranean garden with brands like B&B Italia, Flexform and Foscarini opening up your options all the way from Italy.
JAPANDI JARDIN:
We’ve seen Scandinavian furniture making surprise appearances across the blog so far - so what’s one more? Well, this time it’s taking more of a starring role. Japandi is a clean-yet-stylish interior design movement that has dominated minimalist abodes for the better part of the 21st century. Now, like all good aesthetics, it has slipped out the back door and settled into the gardens of design fans. Warm timbers, gravel beds and sparsely but thoughtfully placed plant life are the ways to harness the power of both Nordic hygge and Japanese wabi-sabi.
When it comes to furnishing your extravagance-free exterior, look to Scandi design brands Carl Hansen and &Tradition, which make a stylish statement at whisper level.
THE FUTURE OF OUTDOOR:
This wouldn’t be a blog about future-proofing your own personal paradise without saving the most relevant of these options for last: futuristic furniture. Characteristics like sleek angles and monochromatic tones define this trend of near sci-fi futurism. Think the beachfronts of Ibiza meeting the defined lines of the ultramodern world.
Brands like Vondom and Gandia Blasco encapsulate this polished aesthetic with perfection. Blending with sea, sun and sand alike, this is ideal for warmer weather environments. chaplins.co.uk
FRIARS CLIFF APARTMENT:
ONE RESOLVED COASTAL HOME
What began as two front doors is now one calm coastal residence, organised around light, movement and daily life by the sea.
At Friars Cliff on the Dorset coast, Dream Design re-planned two apartments into a single, dual-aspect home. The scope was comprehensive: spatial planning, structural reconfiguration and interior specification, developed as one coherent scheme rather than a room-by-room set of decisions.
The defining move was structural. By removing the wall between kitchen and living areas, the team formed one unified volume that holds cooking, dining and relaxing within a clear plan. Circulation was re-set to feel intuitive, and sightlines were composed from each approach, ensuring the kitchen reads as ordered from the entrance, the dining table and the seating area. Dual-aspect glazing brings the outlook into the room.
Material continuity does much of the quiet work. A whitewashed, ash wood-effect porcelain floor runs through the main living level, tying the open-plan space together while providing a hard-wearing base suited to coastal use. The palette stays restrained, allowing proportion and daylight to lead. Lighting is layered for everyday living, balancing task clarity with softer ambient levels that settle the space in the evening. Finishes were selected for practicality as well as presence.
The kitchen cabinetry was specified in a custom NCS blue, bringing depth without visual noise. Porcelain surfaces hold light and remain practical in daily use, with marble-effect porcelain carefully set out across the hob wall and window surrounds. Light grey stone-effect porcelain continues across the island fronts and worktop, keeping the centre of the room quietly composed.
SieMatic was selected for its ability to carry an open-plan room without dominating it. In SLX, the architecture is expressed through precise lines, disciplined junctions and finish quality that remains consistent at close range.
Dream Design’s approach is rooted in coherence. As the team put it, “Excellence is a lot of small things done well.” With full design freedom from the clients, each decision was tested against the whole, from first layout studies to final on-site detailing. See more at dreamdesign.co.uk

MAKING MORE OF WHAT YOU HAVE
The cost of building has changed dramatically since 2020. The combined pressures of COVID, the war in Ukraine, and domestic market shifts have driven construction costs to historic highs. According to the BCIS, a project costing £100,000 four years ago now carries a price tag closer to £137,500 — and in London, the uplifts we’ve seen on our own projects have often gone further still.
For homeowners with ambitions to improve, extend or transform their properties, this is a genuine challenge. Scopes that once felt comfortably achievable now require harder conversations and clearer priorities.
But here’s what we’ve found: that consideration and creativity can deliver better outcomes despite these challenges.
At nimtim, we’ve always believed that the best projects begin not with a predetermined outcome, but with a conversation about what
you actually want your home to do for you. How do you want to feel in it? Where does daily life feel constrained? What would make it extraordinary? When budgets demand creativity, those questions become even more important and the answers often lead somewhere unexpected and genuinely exciting.
One of our clients came to us wanting to replace a struggling rear extension. Through careful exploration of what they were really trying to achieve, we discovered a new extension itself wasn’t the answer at all. Instead, we designed a new multi-purpose intervention; part kitchen, part storage, part workspace that completely reimagined their family living spaces. No extension required. Every ambition met. The project, which we call Curve Appeal, is one we’re enormously proud of.
At Hideaway House ( a remarkable detached home tucked behind the terraces of East Dulwich) we opened walls, created internal vistas, and wove together spaces that had felt disconnected from each other and from the garden beyond. A palette of simple, beautifully considered materials flowed from inside to out, giving the whole home a new coherence and calm.
The construction climate right now asks more of architects and clients alike. But the homes that emerge from that rigour; thoughtfully planned, imaginatively conceived are often the most inspiring ones we make.
We’d love to talk about what’s possible for your home: nimtim.co.uk
SANCTUARY WITHIN
Crafting everyday spa-like luxury
Haddon is a family-owned bathroom business delivering timeless luxury, enduring quality and exceptional craftsmanship for high-end residential and hospitality projects.
invites touch and appreciation. Each piece in this edit has been curated to support a slower, more mindful daily ritual, encouraging users to pause, breathe and enjoy the small, restorative moments that elevate everyday routines.
This carefully crafted sense of serenity goes beyond just the larger focal points. It is found in the interplay of warm, natural surfaces and refined finishes and in the way light dances across materials that feel substantial yet delicate under the hand. It’s the difference between a bathroom you pass through and one you inhabit with intention.
Sanctuary Within also aligns perfectly with broader design shifts embracing wellness-driven interiors. Current trends reflect a move toward spaces that centre experience over ornament - where organic curves, layered materials and balanced palettes foster an atmosphere that feels both restful and purposeful. Haddon’s collection is a testament to this evolution.
However, the true magic of Sanctuary Within is its accessibility. These are not pieces to simply admire - they are products designed to be lived with, to transform morning routines into calm ritual and evening soaks into restorative escape. In every curve, every finish, and every thoughtfully considered detail, the edit invites us to bring luxury within reach, and make sanctuary a part of everyday life.
“At the heart of Sanctuary Within is a belief that true luxury isn’t loud”
In a world that moves ever faster, the bathroom has emerged as more than a functional space, it has become a personal haven, a room for restoration, ritual and respite. With the Sanctuary Within edit, Haddon England invites us to reimagine this most intimate of rooms as a sanctuary of calm: a place where design, material and mood work in concert to create an immersive, spa-like experience right at home.
At the heart of Sanctuary Within is a belief that true luxury isn’t loud. It’s quiet. It’s tactile. It’s an emotional response as much as a visual one. Drawing on soft, considered finishes, organic textures and forms shaped for serenity, this collection brings thoughtful design into daily rituals - from the morning wash to the evening soak.
Consider the Girona freestanding stone bath, its softly curved silhouette and seamless finish evoke a sense of fluid tranquillity. Whether positioned centrally or nestled into a gentle corner, it establishes a mood of balance and flow that is reminiscent of a highend spa retreat. Complementing this is the Kingham vanity, where the warm depth of walnut tones and the refined presence of a stone basin create a backdrop of contemporary calm, combining utility with understated elegance.
Central to the collection is the Adria freestanding basin, sculptural yet soft in character, shaped from honed natural stone that naturally
In an age where wellbeing and design increasingly intersect, Haddon England’s Sanctuary Within stands out as an inspiring invitation: elevate your bathroom, elevate your every day.

POT OF GOLD AT THE END OF THE GARDEN
How to release capital from your garden
“With the proceeds from the sale of my garden plot I have paid off my mortgage entirely”
Homeowners looking to unlock significant wealth from their properties are selling off parts of their gardens for development and receiving a substantial tax free windfall.
– Colchester Resident
With the right sized garden in the right location, it is possible to earn in excess of £250,000 by selling the land to a developer - and stay in control of the process without the financial burden or risk of going it alone.
Why it pays to work with an expert
Small site developers Caswell&Dainow specialise in spotting the potential in underutilised land and unlocking maximum value with minimum risk to the homeowner.
“The way we work is tailored to each land owner. We don’t just buy the land and build. As trained architects, we enter into a partnership
with the land owners and we involve them throughout the project. We take on all of the design and legal costs required to achieve planning consent and will pay the pre agreed sum once permission is granted” says Adam Dainow.
Would your garden qualify?
Homeowners considering selling part of their land typically meet several of the following criteria:
1. Inside an Existing Residential Area
Land within established towns, suburbs or villages benefits from national planning support, allowing new homes to integrate naturally into existing neighbourhoods.
2. Larger Than Surrounding Plots
Unusually deep or wide gardens compared to neighbouring properties are often more suitable for subdivision without appearing cramped or overdeveloped.
3. Potential for Separate Access
Side access, corner plots, or space for an independent driveway significantly improve the likelihood of planning approval.
4. Close to Transport or Amenities
Proximity to stations, bus routes, shops, and schools aligns with planning policy favouring walkable, well-connected locations.
5. Similar Developments Nearby
Existing infill homes or subdivided gardens nearby are a strong indicator that further development may be considered acceptable. caswellanddainow.com contact@caswell&dainow.com 020 7971 1226
“I made a substantial amount of money from the sale of the back portion of my garden giving me total security for my retirement. The process was surprisingly straightforward – one of the best decisions I’ve made”

THE BATH WORKS SHOWCASE: AXOR X PHILIPPE STARCK:
When Vision Shapes the Modern Bathroom
Design has become central to how we furnish our homes and organise everyday life because it shapes not just what we see, but how we feel and behave within a space. Nowhere is this more evident than in the bathroom. Once considered a purely functional room, it has evolved into a place of wellbeing, individuality and quiet ritual. Few collaborations have influenced this transformation as profoundly as the 30-year partnership between AXOR and Philippe Starck.
For design to truly influence culture, it must capture a moment in time—a need, a new function, a shift in mindset. That requires exceptional designers with vision and instinct, alongside brands with the courage to act on those ideas. Philippe Starck and AXOR represent exactly that union. From the very beginning, their work challenged conventions, reimagining the bathroom not as a hidden utility, but as a living space.
In 1994, Starck introduced the radical concept of the Salon d’Eau—the “water living room”. Daylight replaced tiles, natural materials softened the space, and the AXOR Starck collection became a defining feature. The idea was simple yet revolutionary: the bathroom could be somewhere you wanted to be. This philosophy continues to underpin AXOR’s approach today—designing not just objects, but entire spaces, and rethinking how people interact with water.
Starck’s work with AXOR has consistently balanced beauty, innovation and responsibility. From the ergonomic efficiency of AXOR
“For design to truly influence culture, it must capture a moment in time”
Starck Organic to the poetic minimalism of AXOR Starck V, which celebrates water itself as the hero, each collection reflects a deep respect for resources. For Starck and AXOR, saving water should never feel like a compromise, but an upgrade to the experience. This iconic collaboration can be discovered locally through The Bath Works, with showrooms in Poole, New Milton and Southbourne. The Southbourne showroom is particularly special, featuring the AXOR Starck range on display alongside a fully working AXOR shower and tap installation—allowing visitors to experience the design, performance and sensory quality first-hand.
Together, AXOR and Philippe Starck continue to prove that great design is timeless, purposeful and deeply human—created not just for today, but for a lifetime.

INSIDE A GREGORY PHILLIPS ARCHITECTS HOME: Contemporary Luxury with Purpose
Specialising in bespoke residences across London and the South East, the practice is known for combining architectural clarity with technical precision. Every project begins with a deep understanding of context - landscape, planning constraints, light, views and privacy - alongside the daily patterns of the people who will live there. The result is contemporary architecture that is both striking and supremely liveable.
A riverside house in Berkshire exemplifies this approach. Designed to replace a former family home, the contemporary structure opens towards the River Thames while preserving mature trees and safeguarding privacy. Bedroom volumes are elevated into the treetops, allowing a transparent ground floor to connect fluidly with the garden. Advanced engineering solutions protect the landscape beneath, demonstrating the studio’s commitment to sustainability as well as design excellence.
In Radlett, a more formal setting called for a different expression. Behind a carefully composed façade lies a dramatic triple-height
entrance hall, drawing views through to landscaped gardens and a swimming pool. Open-plan living spaces extend seamlessly outdoors, while dedicated areas for wellness, leisure and home working reflect contemporary lifestyles. Rich natural materials, bespoke joinery and precisely detailed interiors create warmth within a refined modern framework.
A defining strength of Gregory Phillips Architects is its fully integrated design approach. Architecture, interiors and landscape are developed in parallel, ensuring coherence from masterplan to material finish. Lighting strategies, spatial flow and furniture placement are considered early, resulting in homes that feel calm, balanced and intuitive. Clients value not only the aesthetic quality, but also the clarity of process - a structured, collaborative journey from concept through to completion.
Peer recognition from organisations such as the Royal Institute of British Architects and the UK Property Awards reflects the studio’s ability to deliver contemporary houses that are both architecturally ambitious and technically assured.
At its heart, the practice is driven by enduring values: craftsmanship, sustainability, innovation and discretion. Materials are selected for durability and authenticity. Layouts are designed to evolve with family life. Environmental performance is embedded from the outset.
In a Gregory Phillips contemporary home, luxury is not applied as a surface statement - it is built into the structure, the proportions and the experience of living. The result is architecture that enhances everyday life and stands confidently into the future. gregoryphillips.com
ARTIST DAMIAN WILLETT
Damian Willett is a contemporary artist who lives and works in Brighton. His paintings look to capture states of transition and flux, residual forms that appear exposed to change and chance. He is intrigued by the notion of the painting process as an act of capturing a moment in time, recording the journey through a painting, holding and marking time.
His technique for painting is unconventional and involves layers of paint being impressed upon one another, each layer a response to the previous. Shapes, patterns and details can accumulate or recede as the painting develops, creating a rich strata of texture and colour.
The end result creates a sense of luminosity, the subtlety of the mark-making and intimately precise lines and curves inviting the viewer to take a closer look at these culminations of light, colour and texture.
Since graduating from art college in Exeter, Damian has also worked as a graphic designer and photographer. This has greatly influenced his use of composition, form and light within his art.
Damian’s paintings have featured in a range of interiors magazines and he has exhibited at numerous art fairs. His work has been bought and commissioned by private collectors and interior designers and is held in collections within the UK and around the globe.
If you would like to know about any of his pieces availability, commissions, delivery, framing or any other enquiries, please contact him through his website.
