ith summer in full swing the gardens at Painshill are looking stunning. The landscape was designed in the 18th century to delight the promenading visitor at every turn and it has been used in TV shows like Bridgerton and Vanity Fair. As you walk around the park amazing views unfold before you, striking buildings can be glimpsed through the trees and you discover incredible surprises like a vineyard, picturesque bridges and temples. One such surprise is the incredible Crystal Grotto. Hidden in an island on the lake, the man-made cave is a work of art. Over 10,000 crystals were placed on the ceiling by hand when the grotto was restored in the early 2010s. They sparkle and shimmer with light reflected by the lake. It is one of Surrey’s most spectacular pieces of culture heritage, as well as the perfect spot for an Instagram shot! A visit to Painshill makes for a wonderful family day out. So if you are looking to keep the children entertained over the holidays why not go on an adventure to find a magical Gothic Tower or spot different baby birds around the lake. To really make the most of the day, bring along a picnic and find a beautiful location to relax while the kids run around in the meadows. Dogs are welcome on short leads. The Monaco Yacht Show takes its “seducation” approach into 2022 T

he Monaco Yacht Show has announced new developments in its themed exhibition areas, once again proving its will to immerse visitors in the world of superyachting. The 2022 edition is set to confirm the status of the MYS’s “seducation” programme, which was launched last year. This three-year plan of action is designed to attract a new generation of yachting clients, thanks to two core concepts: “education” and “seduction” (aka “seducation”). Education: meeting trade experts in themed exhibition areas The show’s themed exhibition areas have been redistributed more efficiently, making it easier for the new wave of yachting customers to meet experts in their respective fields and to discover the range of products and services required to successfully complete their yachting project. The organisers are therefore revamping the

Be it in the water or on the docks, the Dockside Area features superyachts, tenders and all manner of services directly related to the world of yachting. Visitors can meet the shipbrokers, shipyards and designers who worked on the various yachts on display. The Sailing Yacht Area will be relocated to Quai l’Hirondelle, on the inner side of Port Hercule. The Yacht Design & Innovation Hub dedicated to future yacht design projects - is set to triple in size, including a 100-m² upstairs conference area. These areas will complement the show’s other themed exhibitions: • Parvis Piscine: yacht interior design and decoration companies, • Upper Deck Lounge (at Parvis Piscine): luxury products and services, • Quai Antoine Ier: yacht tenders, water toys, luxury cars and motorbikes, • Darse Sud tent: equipment manufacturers and yachting services, • Quai Albert Ier tent: yacht-related equipment, maintenance and service companies. The MYS has also announced the 6th edition of the Monaco Yacht Summit. Held on Tuesday 27 September 2022 at the Monaco Yacht Club, the event will address practical questions on the topics of yacht chartering, buying and building in front of an prequalified audience of experienced or new yacht owners and charterers. comprehensive first dip into the world of superyachting. The Sapphire Experience offers concierge services - i.e. directly organising yacht visits hand-in-hand with exhibitors - and a range of other VIP activities and services throughout the show. SHAKESPEARE’S GLOBE AT WEST HORSLEY PLACE Tickets are now on sale for the Globe on Tour production of Julius Caesar Image © Richard Lewisohn

T

ickets are now on sale for a startlingly new production of Julius Caesar by Shakespeare’s Globe that will be performed at West Horsley Place on 26 and 27 August. Significantly, it will be the first time that the nationwide Globe on Tour series has come to Surrey. Using Shakespeare’s great political play as a lens to look at leadership and power in the past, the production invites the audience to consider what this means now. How does power interact with race, gender and social class? Is power used and abused now as it was then? Are politics and powerplay the same now as they were then? Directed by Diane Page Shakespeare’s epic tragedy takes on startlingly new relevance and asks the question: in a world where the mark of one’s success is how great your country is, how far are our leaders willing to go to reign supreme? Director Diane Page says: “I’m so excited to bring my production of Julius Caesar straight from the Globe Theatre in London to tour across the UK. These past few years have revealed more than ever how betrayal, division, and cunning rhetoric are not just traits belonging to Ancient Rome. Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar will be on the road this summer and I look forward to visiting these fantastic venues.” The play will be performed in the walled gardens at West Horsley Place where, in 1559, Elizabeth I had a temporary theatre built and

2 0 J U LY 2 0 2 2

enjoyed a festival of entertainments. Clare Clinton, Arts, Heritage & Learning Manager at West Horsley Place, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be welcoming Shakespeare’s Globe to West Horsley Place this summer – and what a moment to be touring Julius Caesar, at a time when many of its historical events seem closer than ever.” “We are determined that Grade I listed West Horsley Place and the surrounding estate should be a welcoming space for the community to share and enjoy, and the performing arts are at the heart of our vision.” She added: “We had originally planned for the Touring Ensemble to come to West Horsley Place in 2020 but, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the tour was cancelled. Now that we are able to come together once again, we are delighted to be making this happen!” The Tour also sees the return of Indiana Lown Collins to Surrey. Formerly Assistant Director and Producer at Guildford Shakespeare Company, Indiana is Assistant Director of Julius Caesar. Tickets (£20, U18s £10) are on sale now and available from westhorsleyplace.org. Ticket holders have access to the gardens at West Horsley Place from 4pm ahead of the performance at 6pm. Grade I listed West Horsley Place will also be open to Julius Caesar ticket holders for guided tours (£8, U18s free). For further information: westhorsleyplace.org

COVER STORY

Always with a vision to create something unique…

Celebrating 20 years as specialists in luxury faux flowers, trees and greenery… award winning florist rtfact, have opened a brand new luxury showroom in Weybridge.

S

tarting from her kitchen table back in 2001, Dawn Smith, owner and founder of rtfact, realised her dream this year by transforming a warehouse unit into a 2,000 sq foot showroom and studio. However Dawn, being Dawn, it was never going to be a “quick lick of paint “ type of makeover!… with her passion for interiors as well as flowers, she wanted to bring inspirational design elements to the showroom. Making the experience an extension of her creative thoughts, complementing her designs and providing the perfect backdrop for her pieces. One of the largest of its kind in the UK, the Weybridge showroom is brimming with hundreds of handmade floral and greenery arrangements with a vast range of pots and vases to choose from. With customers travelling far and wide to see the rtfact collections, Dawn’s clients often ask for advice about other aspects around the home and she loves to share her creative vision and concepts she has acquired from her travels and buying trips. “I love sharing my passion for design and strongly believe that when people take time to visit my showroom, I want to offer them a truly unique and special experience”

2 8 J U LY 2 0 2 2

What was the motivation behind the expansion? Dawn explained; “I’ve always wanted to create a point of difference. Somewhere with the space for clients to browse at their leisure. I loved my 17 years in Claygate on the Parade but as we grew, the business had become multi – sited and retail space was limited. As we expanded into larger pieces like interior and exterior trees, I wanted to display more of my work and inspire people with more of a room set layout.. making it more experiential. Equally as important for me, was having the team back together too… we’re small but beautifully formed! and it’s great to have us all in one building again. Spinning ideas off one another and having the beautiful florals and pots around us, just adds to the creativity.” So what services do rtfact offer? “In addition to our vast range of showroom pieces and online range, we offer a bespoke service, understanding that no two clients are the same. We take into consideration how you live, your colour accents and style, to ensure that the finished pieces complement but not overpower your space… just like selecting a piece of art.

“In addition to our vast range of showroom pieces and online range, we offer a bespoke service, understanding that no two clients are the same”

Aside from the free consultancy service at the showroom, for larger projects we’re also happy to carry out onsite visits. We also have great experience in outside planting projects, where our external planting team will make life easier for you and provide a white glove service onsite. Sometimes, we find a client would like us to use their own special vase for a project and we are always happy to work with these too. Personal service is at the heart of our ethos, be it for online, corporate, trade or private clients.” How has rtfact achieved the success it has over the last 20 years? “For us only the finest quality will do. We pride ourselves on over 20 years of sourcing only the very best! I have always maintained a very strict policy – if it doesn’t look real I won’t buy it. Creativity is also absolutely key for me – everything we do is made by hand by our expertly trained in house florists. We are always striving to think outside the box and show clients how far we can go with design ideas to fully complement their homes. The new showroom offers a larger selection

of floral arrangements than ever before, as well as individual hand chosen stems, greenery and trees. I believe we have the most diversely selected and finest range available within the UK…. a vast source of ideas for both internal and external spaces. Last but not least, I consider myself very fortunate to have a second family – my team. Without them rtfact would not be where they are today, it’s not all about me. I’m so blessed to have a family working with me that embrace the rtfact philosophy as if it were their own and I truly value their input and dedication. It’s hard graft, and stressful at times but we have fun along the way…. How lucky am I?”

THE DETAILS Rtfact flowers, 12 Trade City, Avro Way, Weybridge Surrey KT13 0YF To book a personal consultation contact rtfact on 01372 470580 or pop in to the showroom to have a browse. Find out more about their online range and home décor inspiration by visiting rtfactflowers.co.uk

What can we expect if we call in to the new showroom? “A relaxing and inspirational space, a warm welcome and plenty of expert advice on how to complement your home with faux flowers and greenery both inside and out. We pride ourselves on service and nothing gives me more pleasure than when a client tells us that they love their arrangements some 5/6 years later.” “From elaborate compositions to zen-like arrangements, RTFact is one of the world’s leading artificial flower brands when it comes to attention to detail. “ Luxdeco. An Artisan Distillery Based in the Surrey Countryside

S

ilent Pool Distillers is winning customers and awards for its commitment to producing exceptional handcrafted products including their signature Silent

Pool Gin. Silent Pool Gin, based on the Duke of Northumberland’s Albury Estate, is inspired by the surroundings of the Surrey Hills using local botanicals to create a distinctive recipe. The distillery is located next to the estate’s historic silent pool, a lake fed from a deep, natural chalk aquifer that plays a vital role in the business and represents the very essence of the gin. The lake dates to the last ice age and the stunning azure crystal-clear water influenced the blue colour of the bottle while references to the medieval legend of the prince and the woodcutter’s daughter at the lake appear within the intricate bottle design. The recipe was created following over 600 iterations and after 18 months the distillers settled on a combination of 24 ingredients inspired by local flowers and plants such as rose, lavender and chamomile. The result is a very interesting, layered gin of subtle layers which allow people to pick up different flavour notes, including cardamom,

3 2 J U LY 2 0 2 2

coriander, and chamomile. For ‘mouthfeel’ it also features honey from hives in the biodynamic vineyard next door. As well as this best-selling spirit, Silent Pool Distillery produces a rare citrus gin, created with the help of a leading authority on citrus; a range of handcrafted small-batch spirits; and the ecofriendly Green Man Wildwood Gin. It’s the world’s first gin packaged in a fully recyclable cardboard bottle delivering a carbon footprint 83% lower than any glass bottled product. Sustainability measures are always kept high on the agenda at the distillery with eco initiatives which include turning organic waste into methane, then electricity; and firing one of the stills using hydro-treated vegetable oil. The team’s attention to detail in sustainability, sourcing produce and design has clearly paid off. They currently export to 47 countries, with the US, Germany, Italy, Australia and Japan among the most significant markets, while 2019 saw Silent Pool Gin win a gold medal at the prestigious Spirits Business Gin Masters. There’s a line on the bottle of Silent Pool Gin that reads ‘Intricately Realised’ which is very true – it is a gin which has been realised, with every stage overseen with precision, knowledge and exceptional care. silentpooldistillers.com

The Secret Life of Trees

B

lack Box Projects is proud to present The Secret Life of Trees, Adriene Hughes’ first solo exhibition in the United Kingdom. The multi-media artist’s practice focuses on grand landscapes and the effects of the changing climate on the environment using infrared technology, photography, and the inclusion of textile and embroidery. Hughes’ intricately embroidered interventions envision what the biochemical and electrical signals between trees and plant-life could look like if they were visible to the human eye. The Secret Life of Trees began as a series of photographs in 2017 taken during a forest fire in Washington State with the use of an infrared camera. The colours are an anomaly: they are the product of infrared light bending through smoke, combined with a chemical reaction in the leaves that registered a forest in the throes of distress. Through a phenomenon known as the mycorrhizal network, the communities of trees and plants communicate through a complex fungal system. The intervention of embroidery envisions what these biochemical and electrical signals would look like if they were able to be seen by the human eye. The process of making and spending time in and with the landscape has been a healing

4 4 J U LY 2 0 2 2

experience for Hughes, whose practice has been profoundly shaped by her survival of cancer. Since then, her artistic process has evolved towards a singular obsession of the photographic landscape. Environments that are struggling to survive, from the icebergs in the Arctic to the desert of California, have particularly resonated with the artist. Simply being in the presence of the land, the mountains and the trees of these sacred and endangered places has allowed for an intense primal connection to nature. The resulting works – all unique pieces - are both a witness to a changing environment and a celebration of the landscape, captured in an unexpected spectrum of colours and altered by the artist’s own hand with needle and thread. The Secret Life of Trees is on exhibition with Black Box Projects from June 22 through July 3 in their South Kensington based gallery. All works exhibited are available for sale and prices range from £ 1,000 - £ 5,000 for unique works.

Why non-invasive treatments are becoming more popular than injectables! Lisa Harris, of Lisa Harris Skin Science, explains Why Injectables can speed up the Ageing Process. Most clients, who have “over done” their skin by over using skin peels, harsh products, dermaabrasion, Botox and other fillers, are now looking to repair & improve skin health with other alternatives. Overuse of Botox can lead to muscle atrophy, causing the muscle to become lifeless, making it hard to stimulate & correct the muscle definition during skin treatments. Also thinning of the skin where you can visibly see discolouration with waves of reds & purples (where the skin transparently shows the muscle). Overuse of fillers, can stretch the skin over time and migrate causing facial distortion (pillow face), leading to an undesirable look. My Expert Advice Injectables are relatively safe but overuse is not a good thing. It’s a “No” for me & I’m glad that there is more awareness and better ways to improve your skins youthfulness. Skin can be transformed using non-injectable skin aesthetics, cosmeceutical skin care and skin food supplements. All three ways will transform the skin positively, and the client will see for themselves the improvements that all three together elicit. This is why I am so confident – there is nothing more persuasive than seeing positive results, especially when you know they are achieved in the right way. Corrective Treatments & Alternatives for Botox & Fillers With 27+ years in the Aesthetic Industry, I have used my wealth of knowledge, and clinical experience, to create Signature Skin Treatments, 5 4 J U LY 2 0 2 2

combining exclusive advanced technology & natural raw materials that organically rebuild the integrity of the skin, which addresses all skin concerns. Improving muscle tone, skin vitality and boosting Collagen (skin tightening), that results in a more natural, desirable look. Gut & Skin Health Your skin is like a window into the health of your inner world, and because so many things in our lifestyles can wipe out the good bacteria we’re supposed to have, our skin often reflects imbalances in the system. Looking after your gut with; Prebiotics & Probiotics, help to repair your gut lining and feeds your microbiome (good bacteria). This will help to heal inflammation within your body (linked to Rosacea, Acne & Eczema), as well as keeping your skin looking younger & healthier. My ethos is to improve the overall skin health and speak the truth about skin ageing and how to slow this process down by increasing the volume within the skin and not by thinning out the skin.

Glitter & shimmer through the summer

Metallics are having a make-up moment, says Sam Wylie-Harris.

I

f you’re not afraid to shine bright, the glitter make-up trend is for you. A little sparkle goes a long way – and it’s an easy way to elevate your look for daytime, as well as after dark. “As we head into the summer season, metallics and glitters are going to be at the forefront,” says Charlotte Knight, founder and CEO of Ciate London, Lottie London and Skin Proud. It was a big trend on the spring/summer catwalks, “With Acne Studios, Etro and Tom Ford all showcasing stunning metallic or glitter looks across eyes, lips and body”, adds Knight. “These big statements, and what we’ve seen gracing our screens on the likes of Euphoria this year, will see us all trying to recreate the looks at home.”

HERE’S HOW TO GET IN ON THE TREND YOURSELF… 5 8 J U LY 2 0 2 2

Subtle shine For a delicate look, Knight recommends adding a pop of glitter to your eyeshadow using a pigmented palette. “You could also take the eyeshadow lightly across the lips to give an extra touch of magic,” she says.

“Knight recommends adding a pop of glitter to your eyeshadow”

lightly dust over your cheekbones and the apples of your cheeks for an amped strobed skin look.”

Precise application

Melanie Barrese, head make-up artist for Illamasqua, says sparkle is a great way to add some texture to your beauty look. If you’re not sure where to start, she says: “I love to add some glitter to the centre of the eye [near the tear duct], in a similar colour to the rest of the eye make-up. So even if the rest of the make-up is matte, the eyes get a beautiful sparkle and added dimension.” Barrese says applying a light colour to your cheekbones is another soft way of adding some glitter. “Choosing a shade similar to highlighter,

When working with glitter, Barrese recommends using a flat, small brush, ensuring you’ve shaken off any excess, and using patting motions to apply to the skin. She also advises applying foundation and undereye concealer as your last step, “So you can wipe away any dropped glitter, ensuring your application is clean”.

Choosing your colours “The shade is up to you, but if you’re really unsure, a colour a few shades lighter than your skin tone will give your eyes some sparkle and open up the face,” says Barrese.

Having fun with glitter “For something more playful, you can also place glitter in more non-conventional areas around the eye, such as above the crease of the eye, on the outer corner, and along the lower lash line,” Barrese says. “Pair it with a natural, glowy skin to achieve a youthful, modern and fun look.” Knight says: “Another really easy wearable look is by adding a touch of metallic to your natural freckles – to enhance your natural beauty, and give all those catwalk and Y2K vibes.”

From miniskirt suits to pastel tones, Prudence Wade picks out the best ways to wear tailoring this season. PALE BLUE CROC PU OVERSIZED BIKER JACKET, £25.50 (WAS £75); PALE BLUE CROC PU MID RISE STRAIGHT LEG TROUSERS, £36 (WERE £45), AVAILABLE FROM PRETTYLITTLETHING

F

ew things are as classic as a suit – and tailoring has come a long way. Once the reserve of menswear (with women wearing the odd skirt set), it slowly made itself into womenswear on the red carpet, and is now firmly part of our everyday fashion vocabulary. However, suits can still be a bit daunting – you might think they’re only for formal events, or feel a bit heavy for summer, for instance. But one look on Instagram will tell you summer suiting is having a massive moment right now. It’s also an easy way to express your personality, while looking chic and put-together with relatively little effort.

6 0 J U LY 2 0 2 2

THIS IS HOW TO WEAR WARM WEATHER TAILORING THIS YEAR… IN PASTELS… Pastels for spring might not be ground-breaking, but there’s a reason it’s a classic look. Pale pinks, baby blues and spearmint greens are all perfect for standing out from the crowd in your tailoring. This year, the trend is overwhelmingly for slouchy, relaxed fits. These styles are incredibly versatile – wear with a crisp shirt for office days, a plain white T-shirt and trainers for the weekend, or you could even dress up with heels and silk vests, or corset-style tops underneath for nights out or summer weddings.

IN SKIRT SUITS… Channel your inner Cher from Clueless or Fran Drescher from The Nanny in this year’s retro take on suiting. While the last few seasons have been all about suits worn with matching shorts, skirts are back in a big way – and the shorter, the better. In May, Selena Gomez showed us how to wear the modern skirt suit while promoting the new series of her TV show Only Murders In The Building, donning a yellow mini paired with a matching jacket. The look feels fresh with a short-sleeved blazer and pearl accent buttons – and Gomez turned to the high street for her look, nabbing the outfit from Mango. Either go for pastel colours like Gomez, lean into the retro vibe with checked prints, or go allout in bright colours for a really kicky look.

IN INTERESTING MATERIALS… Linen blend suits are perfect for summer weather, but what if you want to give your tailoring a bit of a twist this year? We’re seeing a growing trend for choosing classic silhouettes in interesting materials – and it would seem like faux leather snakeskin is having a particular moment. Lil Nas X first showed us how to style a snakeskin suit on the red carpet in 2019, wearing a blue two-piece with a black mesh top underneath. It’s taken a while, but the trend has finally made 6 2 J U LY 2 0 2 2

its way into womenswear – and for a more relaxed take on the look, choose brightly coloured snakeskin prints. Or opt for monochrome if you want a dressier vibe.

IN SEPARATES… Wearing a full suit can sometimes feel a bit formal, but if you separate the two pieces you’re basically doubling up on potential outfits in your wardrobe. Tailoring can add a bit of effortless cool to any look – so either try tapered trousers with a plain T-shirt and a light knit over the top, or wear the blazer on its own with jeans. It’s a chance to play around with the items you’ve already got in your closet, creating whole new looks to suit how you’re feeling on a given day.

The hottest design trends Pochette armchair by B&B Italia

Yves sofa by Porada

I

f we’ve learned anything in the past few years, it’s that our homes are places for selfexpression and experimentation as well as retreat and sanctuary, the modern interior both exciting and full of life as well as a place to relax and unwind in. The new launches at this year’s Salone del Mobile – Milan’s fashionable furniture fair – echoed these dual desires; colour hovered around the natural end of the spectrum occasionally interrupted with flashes of more vivacious pigments; forms were sculptural yet soft; and materials channelled the organic as well as exaggerating and playing with it. Chapins’ edit of the top trends is a show and tell of the materials, colours, shapes and functions that will come to define the modern home over the next year.

ORGANIC OBJECTS After taking solitude in nature for so long, we continue to seek to recreate it in our homes via organic shapes, the imperfect and hints at natural intervention. Nature and the implication of time are quietly introduced, pieces created to look like manufacture never happened – did they grow out in the wilderness? Shapes have an accidental feel like they have slowly evolved and perfection is something left behind long ago. Top Pick: Yves sofa by Porada A dainty take on a classic bean sofa, Yves by G. & O. Buratti for Porada has a charismatic a grownon-a-stalk-in-the-garden shape, a reminder of the power of the organic. Comprised only of calming curves, its matching pouf neatly nestles into the front of the crescent like an oversized seed.

INSIDE OUT The outdoors is increasingly becoming an extension of our walled-in living areas, spaces to be used routinely and habitually, so it was no surprise to see a bevy of renowned Italian brands stepping into the fresh air and launching incredibly chic all-weather collections. With these new pieces, design comes first and being able to withstand the rain is a quietly integrated feature that’s barely noticeable. Top Pick: The A’mare collection by Edra The A’mare collection by Jacopo Foggini which includes tables, chairs, armchairs, a bench and a sunbed, is designed around a love of the ocean, comprised from flexible polycarbonate slats which embody solidified slices of water. Their vivid turquoise colouring playfully catches and throws light, transporting the user onto a sparkling sea, design that is both utterly minimalist and an audacious statement. 6 8 J U LY 2 0 2 2

“B&B Italia’s Pochette by Piero Lissoni combines unfixed cushions and a lowslung shape with a creamy grey-ish nude leather”

for 2022 and beyond EARTH TONES

Leggera chair by Cassina

Physically digging into the immersed-in-nature trend, the neutral hues set to dominate this year are drawn from the ground, spanning pale shades of sand, soft mid-tone clays, and red-tinted terracotta. Prompting images of bare feet on beaches and hands plunged into the earth, these colours are about connection to the elements, warm neutrals that are livelier and more varied than a classic beige. Top Pick: Pochette armchair by B&B Italia B&B Italia’s Pochette by Piero Lissoni combines unfixed cushions and a low-slung shape with a creamy grey-ish nude leather which is wrapped around the tubular frame, a shade easier to live with and more laid back than white or ivory but with a similar crisp, chic impression. In-Between dining table by Lema

embraces neutral shades as well as a vibrant watery palette for its move into the outdoors. The renowned seat’s original slimline frame is replicated in garden-proof stainless steel, the colourful option a peppy turquoise-tinted green with optional upholstery in blue recycled polypropylene, the makings of a spirited summery classic.

SCULPTURAL BASES

SEA SHADES Summoning visions of the ocean disappearing into the horizon, Mediterranean mornings and treasurelike pieces of sea glass, this season’s statement hues are gloriously fresh and enlivening, radiating the promise of sunnier climes and (like us all) calling out for adventure. Hovering between hazy shades of blue-tinged sage and turquoise tones, these are introverted colours which harmonise easily with their surroundings, tranquil and inobtrusive while radiating vitality and joy. Top Pick: Leggera chair by Cassina Gio Ponti’s 1952-designed icon the Leggera

These days, tables are all about looking down. The contemporary table is leaning heavily on leg work, its supports pieces of art in their own right able to sit in the home as standalone sculptural objects. Adding an element of surprise and delight to the dining room, each artful base feels like a discovery, something earned and a small secret waiting to be uncovered. Top Pick: In-Between dining table by Lema In-Between by Ximi Li asks the diner to focus on the space between the base’s forms and consider instead the chunky segments of air formed by the irregular legs. Arranged in a staggered position, the flattened supports stand apart, almost meeting in the middle, the rounded marble top drawing them together and making the decorative piece whole. We look forward to welcoming these fresh Milanese launches – and more! – to our curated collection of designer furniture, lighting and accessories both online and at our 25’000 sq ft luxury lifestyle showroom in Greater London over the coming months.

Summer at Cult Furniture

T

he Big Summer Sale has landed at Cult. Instead of the usual sale graphics, you might find floating around on sites this year, as you may have noticed, Cult has pulled out all the stops and is breaking new boundaries. To learn more about Cults Big Summer Sale, we sat down with Becka, our Creative photography & Styling Manager, to discuss further... Talk us through the initial concept and story behind the Summer Sale campaign? Instead of the usual graphic sale campaigns we see everywhere, we wanted to push new boundaries for Cult with our “Fashion + Floral” inspired Summer Sale campaign. We chose to shoot this in an artistic setting with a model to breathe some fun energy into the campaign and to connect with customers. As the leading Creative Photography & Styling Manager, tell us what makes this one different from the rest? Aside from shooting with a model for the first time (which was incredibly fun!) we produced our first social media campaign video, which allowed

7 0 J U LY 2 0 2 2

the high energy on set to be conveyed to our social audience. Where did you source/ gain inspiration for the styling, theme & photoshoot? When you think of Spring / Summer what comes to mind? Flowers, meadows, even freshly cut grass is up there! Our marketing team briefed in ‘red’ to convey the feeling of a sale, so it stemmed from there (mind the pun). In terms of inspiration the likes of Pinterest, Instagram, various interior and fashion magazines were all very instrumental in building the art direction and final look. Lastly, tell us your highlights from the days you spent shooting and working to bring everything together? The shoot itself was really high energy with such a positive feeling. The real highlights were watching the silliness of our lovely model Terri forward rolling over sofas and singing into floor lamps turned into a strong campaign - we even had a furry visitor sneak into the studio to come and say hello. cultfurniture.com

At M.M Linen there’s a wonderful mixed bouquet of styles in an array of delicate florals from vibrant pinks and moody blues to lavish lilacs and hot reds, each popping with glorious greenery undertones, which promise to make any space bloom with a touch of nature. Each design in the collection can be easily layered with cushions to create a full flower bed look, reminiscence of the seasons. Perfect for Spring the LISETTE, FLORIBUNDA, HATTIE and CARRIE designs all have light, pretty designs featuring garden and country flowers in soft and calming pastels on a pale background. For the height of Summer the VALENCIA, ISOLA, MAISIE and STELLA designs represent heat and colour with dramatic floral displays in the brightest of hues. For Autumn/Winter the JULIA, BRIAR and FIORI designs bring drama and depth whilst depicting floral displays from all four seasons.
