SURREY HILLS: SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS TOURISM

The Power of Place Conference Showcases Surrey Hills as a Leading Destination for Sustainable Business Tourism

Over 100 delegates recently gathered for the inaugural Power of Place Conference, a landmark event celebrating sustainability, collaboration and innovation in business tourism across the Surrey Hills.

Organised by Surrey Hills Enterprises CIC in partnership with Visit Mole Valley, the conference brought together event planners, venues, corporate buyers and experience providers from across the South East.

The day featured inspiring speakers, interactive sessions, and a strong focus on collaboration and sustainable growth, positioning the Surrey Hills as the UK’s leading destination for responsible business events and corporate hospitality.

Insights and Innovation

Hosted by Ian Jones, the morning’s sessions explored how local sourcing, community collaboration and environmental responsibility can elevate the business tourism sector.

Expert panellists included Ian McCulloch (Silent Pool Distillers), Kate Shaw (DeVere Horsely Towers), Morgan Arnell (Crumbs Brewing), Sarah Brown (Albury Vineyard) and Mike (Fighting Zero), who will now be working with Surrey Hills Enterprises to measure the carbon footprint of the event.

Delegates also took part in a Design Thinking Challenge, co-creating ideas on how the Surrey Hills can lead the way in sustainable business tourism. The insights generated will be published in a forthcoming white paper, capturing the ideas and contributions shared throughout the day.

Local Showcase

The exhibition area featured 28 local exhibitors representing the very best of Surrey’s venues, experiences and artisan producers. From boutique hotels and vineyards to mountain biking, forest bathing and handmade food and drink, the showcase demonstrated the exceptional diversity and quality available within the Surrey Hills. Adding to the community feel of the day were the team from Chalk Hills Bakery, who provided their famously enormous pastries, and a surprise visit from Brian the Bear, the star of BBC’s Ghosts, filmed at West Horsley Place.

A 24-Hour Surrey Hills Experience

Following the conference, 15 UK event buyers joined a 24-hour whistle-stop familiarisation tour to experience first-hand the very best that the central Surrey Hills has to offer. From vineyard tours and artisan dining to creative workshops and heritage venues, the trip showcased the region’s rich blend of authenticity, sustainability and hospitality.

A CELEBRATION OF TREES AT PAINSHILL

As the season changes, Painshill’s collection of trees paints the historic landscape, providing a glorious display of ever-changing colour. This autumn, Painshill invites visitors to see this spectacle - and to hear their incredible stories.

One of the first landscape gardens to be Grade I listed, work on Painshill began in 1738 and its extraordinary journey over centuries is rooted in its trees. These ancient specimens stand as witnesses to history and are important protectors of biodiversity. They are essential for the air we breathe, and they soothe our minds as we spend time with them.

Over many centuries trees have inspired artists, writers, musicians and more, including Charles Hamilton (1704-1786), who designed Painshill as a living painting, intended to evoke the emotions of 18th century visitors.

Today’s visitors can experience more than 100 trees planted by Charles Hamilton, which have survived despite Painshill being lost for many years and rediscovered in the 1980s. These include The Great Cedar, which is now the largest multistemmed cedar in Europe; a Cork Oak, believed to be amongst the oldest in the UK, and a number of trees native to North America and made available

“Over many centuries trees have inspired artists, writers, musicians and more”

in Britain at that time through a new scheme. Charles Hamilton also incorporated existing trees into his design. Still standing today are an oak which has been growing for at least 450 years and a series of ancient London Planes along the banks of the River Mole.

This autumn, the stories of these trees will be shared through a series of walks, talks, activities and special events, including creative sessions giving visitors of all ages opportunities to take inspiration from Painshill’s trees to make their own work.

Director of Painshill, Gary Topp, said: “This Autumn we are inviting you to enjoy visiting Painshill in a new way. Painshill is a landscape garden full of stunning trees and we wanted to find different ways of encouraging you to enjoy them- we are inviting you to listen as well as look!” Something you should hear: A celebration of trees at Painshill runs until 27 November 2025. GThe History of GUILDFORD CATHEDRAL

uildford Cathedral is a modern Cathedral with a truly remarkable story.

Building work on the Cathedral started in 1936, to a design by Sir Edward Maufe. But work was stopped by the Second World War and its devastating aftermath. Despite enormous setbacks, regular services were held in the Crypt Chapel (the current Choir practice room) from 1947.

When building restrictions were lifted and materials were available again, there was a renewed sense of determination in the local community to complete the Cathedral. But there were very limited funds.

Eventually, through the Buy a Brick fundraising campaign, work re-started again in 1954. More than 200,000 ordinary people became brick-givers. Their generosity helped ensure the completion of what they thought of as “their Cathedral”. It was an extraordinary act of public support, a demonstration of modern community spirit.

With a resilient and make do and mend approach, the inside of the Cathedral was furnished. Again, much of this was done with the assistance of local people. For example hand making the 1500 kneelers, which remain in place today.

The Cathedral - The People’s Cathedral - was consecrated on 17th May 1961 by Bishop George Reindorp in the presence of HM The Queen, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, the Archbishop of Canterbury and a packed congregation from all parts of the diocese.

CLARIDGE’S collaborates with distinguished British jeweller Annoushka

For the first time in its notable history, Claridge’s the legendary Mayfair hotel, has unveiled an exclusive collection of 18ct gold charms inspired by some of the most cherished and beloved signature symbols from the hotel.

Designed by renowned British jewellery designer, and longstanding friend of the hotel, Annoushka Ducas MBE, the set of seven charms are the perfect partnership. As part of Annoushka’s celebrated Life in Charms series, each piece has been handcrafted in 18ct yellow gold, adorned with diamonds, mother of pearl and precious gemstones, perfectly capturing Claridge’s heritage and timeless elegance; and as with all Annoushka’s charms each piece cleverly blends a playful element into its design.

The charms reflect some of the hotels most distinctive and evocative symbols, from the famous

Art Deco revolving doors created to resemble a jousting tent, and the Rocking Zebra that sits in the lobby with its distinctive Claridge’s livery, to the famous Bellboy Teddy Bear, and the historic Claridge’s Crest created in 1898 where each element is symbolic to the hotel.

Claridge’s Archivist Kate Hudson said “We love the idea of encapsulating Claridge’s history in such an exquisite piece of jewellery. Each charm symbolises a significant moment in our history - from the timeless teddy bear to the pearl suitcase with Claridge’s luggage tag detail, and the champagne glass that epitomises the sense of celebration that is so synonymous with life at the hotel. The Claridge’s crest is etched into our walls as well as appearing on our cakes, reflecting the English tradition of afternoon tea that has been part of Claridge’s story for more than a century.”

Annoushka Ducas said “For me this is a dream collaboration, Claridge’s is personal: my grandmother used to bring me here for tea, and years later, when I inherited a fish business at 23, I got to see Claridge’s from a very different angle - through the tradesmen’s entrance - it was not as glamorous, but it gave me an appreciation for the attention to detail that make Claridge’s so unique. I am delighted to be able to celebrate Claridge’s through Life in Charms.”

The charms can be bought individually or as a complete set encased in their own Claridge’s book box and handmade scrap book representing each charm.

For more information and to purchase, please visit Claridge’s or the online shop here: shop.claridges.co.uk

5 BEST BEAUTY ADVENT CALENDARS OF 2025

From best for affordability to trend discovery – here are the top recommended beauty advent calendars of the year.

Choosing a beauty advent calendar isn’t always straightforward. There’s the worry of make-up shades that don’t suit, products you’ll never use or scents that miss the mark.

Still, that uncertainty hasn’t dampened the nation’s enthusiasm for these festive countdowns – in fact, they’ve become one of the beauty industry’s biggest indulgences of the year.

With brands competing to outdo one another, this year’s offerings are more impressive than ever. Many contain 24 or more luxurious surprises, often worth twice the purchase price, from skincare to make-up to wellness.

Whether you’re buying for someone special or planning a month of self-gifting, we’ve rounded up the standout beauty advent calendars for 2025

– the ones that provide variety, value and that allimportant spark of December joy.

BEST FOR CRUELTY-FREE

If you’re looking for a more ethically conscious beauty advent calendar, The Body Shop’s Christmas countdown delivers classic scents and cult favourites with clear conscience.

A good alternative to the sought-after Neal’s Yard Remedies calendar (which is already sold out) The Body Shop calendar is more affordable, priced at £120 and worth £238 (with an even more affordable, smaller option for £60), and it includes 25 products behind 25 doors, spanning skincare, body care and bath essentials.

Inside you’ll find the much-loved Shea Body Butter, Mango Body Butter and British Rose Hand Cream, as well as skincare staples such as the Camomile Cleansing Butter and Himalayan Charcoal Face Mask – products designed to

nourish and comfort winter skin.

It’s a line-up that leans into The Body Shop’s heritage: accessible, vegan-friendly, feel-good beauty with scents that evoke Christmases past. Affordable, cruelty-free and instantly recognisable, this is a calendar that proves festive indulgence can still come with strong values.

The Body Shop Ultimate Beauty Advent Calendar, £120

BEST VALUE FOR MONEY

If you’re wanting to sit somewhere in the middle when it comes to luxury and affordability, a beauty calendar that seems to get it right year after year is the Cult Beauty advent calendar.

It packs 34 products across 25 drawers (20 full size) worth around £1,100, focusing on skincare that soothes, hydrates and repairs winter-worn skin, with a strong supporting cast of hair and make-up favourites.

Standouts include Summer Fridays’ hydration mist, Paula’s Choice barrier repair cream and Byoma’s glow serum, alongside targeted treatments such as Medik8’s C-Tetra serum, Elemis ProCollagen toning mist and Krave’s Oil La La for breakouts. Haircare comes courtesy of K18, Philip Kingsley and Sam McKnight.

Make-up lovers will find Patrick Ta’s blush duo, Saie’s cream blush, Charlotte Tilbury’s Beauty

Light Wand and a mini By Terry Hydra Powder –all practical and inclusive choices.

Housed in recyclable packaging that feels genuinely luxe, it’s a thoughtful and generous edit. Just tread lightly with the potent Kate Somerville exfoliating mask, which can cause irritation on sensitive or mature skin if you’re not careful.

The Cult Beauty Advent Calendar – Classic Curation, £240

BEST FOR DISCOVERING TRENDING BRANDS

A surprising newcomer for best beauty advent calendars is Anthropologie. If you’re after something under £100 (a rarity in the beauty advent world), Anthropologie’s calendar is budgetfriendly while having some great new discoveries.

Priced at £98 and worth £365, it

“If

you’re after something under £100 (a rarity in the beauty advent world), Anthropologie’s calendar is budgetfriendly while having some great new discoveries:

houses 24 products behind 24 doors, including 11 full size – an impressive ratio at this price point.

Inside, there’s a pleasing mix of beauty, fragrance and nail care. Full-size treats include L’Occitane’s Shea Nail and Cuticle Oil, Le Mini Macaron nail lacquer, and UKLash Eyebrow Serum, alongside minis from Who Is Elijah and Floral Street.

True to Anthropologie’s aesthetic, the design is thoughtful and gift-able, making it as pretty to display as it is to open.

While it doesn’t have the extravagance of the top-tier calendars, this one delivers excellent value and a well-rounded mix of brands for those wanting to discover the current trendiest beauty brands.

Anthropologie 24 Days of Beauty Advent Calendar, £98

BEST FOR AFFORDABILITY

The Look Fantastic beauty advent calendar has turned beauty-lovers’ heads this year for the first time.

At £105 with a value of £655, the Look Fantastic advent calendar delivers impressive substance for its price. It includes 28 products –17 full size, 11 mini – striking a balance between affordable and indulgent.

Inside, you’ll find a well-edited mix of skincare, make-up, haircare and body treats.

Highlights include Medik8, Ren, Color Wow shampoo and conditioner, MAC make-up and more.

Extras like a Sol de Janeiro perfume mist, a White Company candle and even towelling wristbands make it feel unique and pretty luxurious.

The focus is on hydration and nourishment rather than actives, but that suits most winter routines, making it a good buy for all ages and skin types.

Look Fantastic The Beauty Advent Calendar, £105

BEST FOR LUXURY

The trickiest part about choosing an advent calendar is that you’re often confined to one brand or one category – be that make-up, skincare or wellness.

The calendar that manages to bypass all those worries however is the Vogue Festive Calendar.

Priced at £355 and worth over £1,600, it’s got a carefully edited mix of 32 products spanning skincare, fragrance, wellness and accessories. 29 of the products are full-size, more than almost any other beauty calendar this year. There’s a good balance between the big names (La Mer, Charlotte Tilbury, Sol de Janeiro) and new discoveries like Vieve and the K-beauty trending brand Beauty of Joseon.

It’s not all confined to products, there are a few stylish surprises – a Tilly Sveaas necklace, a Loop cashmere beanie and even a Moschino bag charm – that make it feel distinctly Vogue.

Wellness also plays a big role, with the Therabody Sleep Mask and Verden Sleep Mist adding a calmer note to the other flashy festive finds.

Illustrated by John Biggs, it’s also nice enough to have out on your sideboard without looking too commercial. The price point puts it at luxury, but it is one of the few beauty calendars that truly earns its place for variety, inclusivity and genuinely wellthought curation.

In the electric hum of fashion’s global stages, Rossario George has emerged not merely as a brand but as an ethos—a bold reimagining of what it means to craft luxury in the 21st century. Led by visionary designer Tony Vincente, Rossario George is redefining opulence as more than aesthetic—it is empowerment, storytelling, and the art of transformation. Though its roots lie in Seattle, Washington, the brand’s ambitions long ago transcended borders.

Since its founding in 2018, Vincente has woven together couture, ready-to-wear, beauty, and lifestyle into a single narrative of elevated living. A former designer with Shop Vida, Vincente turned entrepreneur when he recognized a gap in the market: luxury that speaks to many, not just a select few. From that conviction, Rossario George was born—a belief that beauty should be accessible yet uncompromising. To step into a Rossario George creation is to enter a realm where drama and restraint exist in perfect harmony. The Honey collections—metallics that shimmer like liquid light—reflect the brand’s love for theatricality, while the feathered Uccello couture gowns evoke poetry in motion.

Meanwhile, the ready-to-wear line ushers in a refined palette of Osso (sculptural ivory), Cabernet (lush burgundy), and Blu Oceano (maritime blue)—hues conceived not as fleeting trends but as emblems of individuality. Through its newly refreshed digital atelier, Rossario George makes luxury feel both global and personal, turning fashion into an immersive experience.

Yet the house’s vision extends far beyond clothing. The introduction of Home & Luxury, alongside accessories and beauty, represents the

Rossario George

brand’s expansion into a full lifestyle universe— one where fashion, interiors, and self-expression exist in seamless conversation. Its beauty division, RG Beauty, upholds the maison’s ethical philosophy with vegan, cruelty-free, and Leaping Bunny–certified formulations that prove glamour and responsibility can coexist.

At the heart of it all stands Tony Vincente—a designer whose charisma and creative spirit infuse every thread of the brand. He moves effortlessly between roles—CEO, designer, stylist, storyteller—driven by a singular purpose: to inspire joy and confidence. For Vincente, every Rossario George creation is more than a product; it is a manifestation of self-belief and transformation. Born from humble beginnings in art and décor, Vincente’s evolution into global fashion leader feels not like a pivot, but a natural progression of his lifelong artistry.

In an era oversaturated by sameness, Rossario George stands apart not simply for its spectacle but for its soul. It signals a new paradigm of luxury—one that invites authenticity, diversity, and bold individuality. As the brand celebrates a monumental showcase at LA Fashion Week 2025, one thing is certain: Rossario George isn’t following fashion. Fashion is following Rossario George.

The Introvert Chair

A new design collaboration between Moooi and artist Robbie Williams

Introducing the Introvert Chair, a new design collaboration between Moooi and artist Robbie Williams – global superstar, expressive artist and self-proclaimed master of mixed feelings.

Inspired by Robbie’s own inner ups and downs, this chair is a soft place to land when the world gets a bit too... world-y. It’s cocooned, sculptural, womb-like (his words) and upholstered in a signature fabric that feels like kindness with texture.

The result? A seat that’s both a design object and an emotional escape space. Comes with pillows. Doesn’t come with social expectations.

AN EMBRACE FOR THE QUIET ONES

The Introvert Chair is a sculptural sanctuary that’s curved to cocoon and padded to please. Designed by singer-songwriter and cultural icon Robbie Williams, the chair captures the feeling of slipping away into your own little world. Whether you’re reflecting, reading or people-watching without being watched, the Introvert Chair offers a comforting pause from the noise.

A NEW SIDE TO ROBBIE WILLIAMS

Known for his extroverted stage presence and legendary music career, Robbie Williams surprises the world with a piece that celebrates stillness and solitude. Created in close collaboration with Moooi, the chair is an authentic expression of his own inner world that’s designed not for the spotlight, but rather for stepping out of it.

WRAPPED IN A HUG

The chair’s softly sculpted form and generously padded frame feel like being wrapped in a hug. Its tactile, woolly signature fabric makes you feel warm and comfortable while the matching pillows invite you to adjust and nest in your own way. With its enveloping curves and gentle silhouette, the chair makes a quiet statement in any interior.

A MOOD, NOT JUST A CHAIR

More than just a seat, the Introvert Chair is a mood. One that values introspection, boundaries and emotional wellbeing. It invites you to take up space without performing. To turn inward. To be alone, but never lonely.

COLLABORATION WITH MOOOI

The collaboration between Moooi and Robbie Williams reflects a shared love for the unexpected. Born from an artistic partnership grounded in vulnerability, humour and design intuition, the Introvert Chair is an open-hearted invitation to slow down. The result? A chair that turns heads without requiring eye contact.

SEE IT FOR YOURSELF

We’re proud to be one of a select few UK partners chosen to present The Introvert Chair by Robbie Williams — a bold Moooi collaboration that turns introspection into an art form. On display now at our Greater London showroom, the full set includes the chair, three Comfort Cushions and The Security Blanket featuring Robbie’s exclusive artwork. A tactile expression of comfort and creativity, it’s already sparking conversation across the design world. chaplins.co.uk

Rangemaster, makers of the world’s first range cooker, has revealed upgraded Classic and Classic Deluxe models that bring together almost two centuries of British craftsmanship with the practicalities modern households demand. Manufactured at the company’s Royal Leamington Spa factory.

From the outside, the design remains reassuringly familiar, yet every line feels crisper: squared-edge doors and slimmer bezels frame larger baker-style windows, while a new white LED display keeps timings clear to see at a glance. Inside, a generous 80 litre fan oven partners with either a tall fan oven (90 cm & 100 cm) or a second full-size cavity (110 cm) – ideal for Sunday roasts, batch baking or family pizza night. Classic Deluxe steps up with an eightfunction multifunction oven that includes Duo for crisp pastry bases and Delicate heat for gentle custards; the 110 cm version is available in offset configuration with proving drawer in the bottomright cavity or base configuration, which boasts a slow cook cavity above the right-hand oven.

A First-Class Experience, A First-Class Kitchen

When a homeowner in Esher set out to transform their awkwardly shaped kitchen, they turned to Sigma 3 Kitchens Esher and their talented designer, Melina. The result is a stunning H-Line handleless kitchen – a space that blends crisp, modern lines with oakeffect features for a warm and welcoming finish.

Melina’s role in the project was pivotal. Known for her impeccable taste and practical creativity, she approached the brief with precision and flair. The clients wanted a high-spec kitchen that maximised every inch of their unusual space, while also remaining within budget. Through careful planning and highly detailed design work, Melina found innovative ways to achieve this balance, proving that practicality and style can go hand in hand.

One of the key features of the project was the two-height layout, designed to bring together the kitchen and dining areas seamlessly. This clever zoning makes the most of the home’s unique architecture, while also creating a natural flow between cooking, dining, and entertaining. The introduction of oak-effect finishes softens the sleek handleless cabinetry, adding warmth and depth to the overall design.

The customer was delighted with both the experience and the finished result, praising Melina’s professionalism, attention to detail, and creative problem-solving:

“I couldn’t recommend Sigma 3 Kitchens

more highly. Melina is an outstanding designer with impeccable taste but also very practical and creative in ensuring we maximised our rather awkward kitchen space. She was extremely professional, highly detail oriented and found ways to bring us in on budget with a high spec. Sigma 3 provided all their own tradespeople who were all highly skilled and lovely people. A first-class experience alongside a first-class kitchen.”

This project is a perfect example of how Sigma 3 Kitchens’ design expertise and complete service – from bespoke design to skilled installation –create kitchens that are not only beautiful but also tailored to the way clients live. Thanks to Melina’s thoughtful design, this is a space that will be enjoyed for many years to come.

Bespoke design to suit your space

The dressing room has become one of the most coveted features of the modern home, valued not only for its association with luxury, but for the practicality it brings to daily life. Far more than a place for storage, a beautifully designed dressing room sets the tone of the day and offers a sense of calm and retreat at the end of the day.

At Neatsmith, every project begins with the client. The design process is a collaboration, considering how the room will be used, who will be using it, and which pieces deserve to be carefully stored or showcased. For some, that means bespoke shelving to house an extensive shoe or handbag collection. For others, it might be glass-fronted doors that transform clothing into a gallery-style display, or a central island with tailored compartments for jewellery and watches.

Increasingly, these spaces are evolving to become rooms in their own right. Homeowners are seeking dressing rooms that feel more like a private lounge or boutique, places to enjoy rather than simply to use. Where space allows, seating is

included, while features such as coffee stations or even mini bars elevate the experience, turning the dressing room into an extension of the home’s living spaces.

Material choices are key to setting the tone. Neatsmith’s Reflex glass doors, available in natural silver or smoked grey, are among the most popular options. The doors have a secret as when lit from the inside the glass becomes transparent to reveal the contents of the wardrobe. Richer tones and textures are also on the rise, from the warmth of walnut to deep green finishes and textured surfaces such as the new Cordona collection, which adds both depth and warmth.

Lighting is treated with equal importance.

Neatsmith integrates LED lighting throughout its designs, ensuring that the rooms are as practical as they are atmospheric. Proper lighting enhances usability but also sets the mood, elevating the dressing room into a space that feels considered and complete.

“Neatsmith’s showroom in Guildford is the perfect destination for clients to experience and view dressing room concepts. Here, visitors can explore finishes, layouts, and door styles, and meet with expert designers to create a bespoke dressing room entirely tailored to their home.

Warming Wallpapers

Looking for a warm glow this winter? It’s time to switch up your wallpaper, say Victory Colours

Homeowners looking to add warmth to the home this winter should step away from the central heating thermostat and instead consider revamping their interior schemes, says eco paint brand Victory Colours.

And founder Victoria Yardley says choosing cosy colours can bring a warm feeling into any room.

The family-run business, which specialises in its own range of environmentally friendly paints, also stocks a range of wallpapers from independent design house Ohpopsi.

Victoria Yardley, Founder of Victory Colours, said: “Ohpopsi are renowned for their characterful designs in a range of bold hues. Get the colour and pattern just right, and it will have a cocooning impact on the space, which is ideal as temperatures dip.”

According to Victoria, the key to creating a cosy room is to choose a wallpaper that incorporates warm hues and a pattern that brings depth.

Ohpopsi’s Orb is a stunning geometric print bursting with overlapping circles. It is available in a range of colourways, including Fox, which brings together shades of brown and amber to naturally

evoke a feeling of warmth. It pairs beautifully with Victory Colours’ Conker and Coco Bean.

Another option is Twisted Geo in Stone. Packed with curves, there is a freedom to Twisted Geo that invites relaxation and comfort, offering the ultimate escape from the great outdoors.

Victoria added: “Wallpapers can be incredibly impactful when it comes to creating a cosy space where you just want to hunker down and relax in. Patterned papers, like Orb and Twisted Geo from Ohpopsi, are brilliant for making a room feel enveloped and cocooned, ideal for winter.” victorycolours.co.uk

ufurnish.com explores what will be defining British homes this Autumn and outlines eight key trends shaping the market.

THE DULUX COLOUR OF THE YEAR 2026: “RHYTHM OF BLUES”

At the London launch event, Dulux unveiled its Colour of the Year 2026, “Rhythm of Blues.”

Fluid blues are set to lead the way, offering calming effects for homes across the UK. The colour comes to life in three palettes – Slow Swing, Free Grove, and Mellow Flow – each pairing effortlessly with natural wood tones, warm neutrals, and deeper earthy shades. Expect to see this adopted across living rooms, bedrooms, and kitchens, bringing harmony and wellbeing into households nationwide.

THE 8 TRENDS DEFINING AUTUMN 2025 INTERIORS:

• Embracing Biophilic Design – Moving beyond houseplants, biophilic design integrates nature into the home through living walls, botanical prints, and raw organic materials, promoting restorative, serene environments.

• The Allure of Tactile Textures – Searches for velvet cushions are up 273% year on year, reflecting a strong demand for bouclé sofas, chunky knits, velvet, and woven rugs, creating luxurious and cosy interiors.

• Sustainable and Ethical Choices – Conscious consumerism drives demand for reclaimed wood, recycled materials, and sustainable textiles. Vintage and antique searches have surged 87% year on year.

• Statement Lighting as Art – Oversized pendants, sculptural fixtures, and designs in rattan, glass, brass, and ceramic are trending as lighting

takes centre stage as a form of art.

• The Return of Dark Wood Accents – Walnut, deep oak, and ebonised finishes are resurging, with dark wood searches up 183% in just three months, bringing depth and luxury to interiors.

• The Comfort of the “Cocooning” Bedroom – With upholstered headboards trending (up 96% year on year), bedrooms are being transformed into sanctuaries with plush, calming finishes.

• The Versatile Home Office Nook – Flexible working keeps home offices relevant, with multifunctional “nooks” emerging as stylish, integrated solutions within living spaces.

• Bathroom Retreats – Bathrooms are evolving into spa-like escapes, with freestanding tubs, rainfall showers, stone, and wood finishes, complemented by biophilic touches and calming palettes.

As the UK enters peak home furnishing season, ufurnish.com predicts continued momentum across these eight trends. Despite an unusually warm summer, consumer searches indicate strong interest in preparing homes for Autumn 2025, signalling significant opportunities for retailers and designers to align with consumer sentiment. ufurnish.com/en-gb

The Secret to a Beautiful Bathroom? It’s All in the Tiles

The Right Tile, chosen with a Ripples bathroom design specialist

What makes a good tile?

Tiles are the unsung heroes of bathroom design. They don’t just protect your walls and floors, they set the mood, elevate the style and can transform the everyday into something truly special. The right tile has the power to turn a bathroom into a serene spa, a bold design statement, or a timeless retreat you’ll love for years to come.

Designer Emily from Ripples Walton-on-Thames shares expert advice on how to choose the right tile.

A great tile should be as practical as it is beautiful. Bathrooms are busy spaces, so durability, easy maintenance and comfort underfoot are key. But just as important is the way a tile makes you feel. A good tile will tie the whole scheme together, adding personality and a touch of luxury to every corner.

Shape and colour

Tiles are like building blocks for your dream bathroom. Large-format designs create a sleek, seamless look that makes small spaces feel bigger, while intricate mosaics or herringbone patterns add detail and interest, perfect for a feature wall or shower niche.

Colour is where the magic really happens. Crisp whites and soft neutrals bring calm, light and airiness. Deep shades like midnight blue or forest green create drama and intimacy. For the bold, patterned tiles add instant wow-factor, while subtle textures can bring depth without overwhelming the space. Ask yourself - do you want your bathroom to energise you in the morning, or help you wind down at night? Your colour choice can do both.

Material matters

Each material has its own personality:

• Porcelain - hardwearing and versatile, ideal for floors and high-traffic areas.

• Ceramic - lighter and easier to install, great for walls.

• Natural stone - marble, limestone or slate add richness and character, though they do need care.

• Glass - glossy and light-reflecting, perfect for accents that sparkle.

Blending materials can create layers of interest. Think marble flooring with a mosaic shower detail, or a porcelain wall paired with a stone countertop.

Style meets safety

Beautiful doesn’t mean impractical. Floor tiles should always be chosen with safety in mind, and that’s where slip ratings come in. For general bathroom floors, a slip rating of R9 or R10 is usually sufficient, giving you peace of mind under everyday use. But in wet areas like showers or walk-in wet zones, you’ll want a higher slip resistance, ideally R11 or above, to ensure secure footing even when the surface is soapy or wet. This way, your bathroom can be both effortlessly stylish and reassuringly safe.

Tiles aren’t just a finishing detail; they set the tone for your entire bathroom. The shapes, colours and textures you choose can express your style and transform daily routines into moments of joy. TRIPLE THREAT

Moss Green brings a grounding energy to three wall murals from family-run design studio By Haleys

Sage green has been one of the most popular shades of the summer, but as winter approaches is it time for its broodier brother to take the spotlight?

Moss green is a luscious, earthy shade with subtle undertones of yellow and brown, evoking a feeling of warmth and a connection to nature.

And when paired with panoramic wall murals from family-run design house By Haleys, it brings sophistication and calm to interior schemes.

Richard Haley, Creative Director of By Haleys, said: “Renowned for its soothing and tranquil qualities, Moss Green is a versatile shade that is set to shine in coming months.

“There is a real richness to the hue, which is why we wanted to incorporate it into three of our nature-inspired designs to really ramp up the biophilic impact.”

Arbour is a dramatic design of towering tree trunks and rich vegetation. Available in the colourway Moss, it is brimming with vibrancy and luxury, bringing a real richness into the home.

Richard said: “Arbour showcases the opulence and majesty of nature in a very theatrical way, but the prolific use of moss green throughout gives it a very grounded quality.”

Dynamic and free-flowing, Eden in Verde offers a very abstract take on the natural world. It is captivating and energetic and utilises moss green to bring depth and earthy appeal.

Richard said: “Eden with its rich depth, truly encapsulates the hand-painted nature of our designs. Each brushstroke and mark is deliberately unpredictable, contributing to a composition that feels alive and ever-changing.”

Rounding off the trio is By Haleys’ newest wall mural, a tribute to their hometown of Toothill in Yorkshire. Available in the colourway Peardrop, moss green weaves throughout to showcase the striking beauty of the rolling hills of Yorkshire.

Richard added: “Moss green in its rich, luscious glory is playing a starring role in three of our most popular designs, and I don’t think it will be long before we start to see the shade everywhere.” byhaleys.com

Enjoy Your Pool Longer: Keeping it Beautiful into Autumn

Just because summer is winding down it doesn’t mean your poolside days have to end. Early autumn is a golden time to enjoy your outdoor space in a cosier way. With a few simple touches, your pool can remain serene, stylish, and a calming retreat well into the cooler months.

Create a Cosy Autumn Setting

Cooler air is perfect for twilight gatherings by the pool. Add warmth with throws on loungers, lanterns or fairy lights for a gentle glow, and autumn-scented candles like cedar or fig. A pergola or garden umbrella with sheer drapes soften breezes and create a snug, inviting corner.

Keep the Water Clear

Falling leaves may add charm to the season, but not to your pool! A quick skim every few days and emptying skimmer baskets helps prevent stains or cloudiness. For less effort, an automatic pool cleaner can do the job for you - some even connect to your smartphone.

Warm Up the Water

A brisk dip can be refreshing, but solar covers work wonders at holding on to warmth between sunny spells. Compact heaters make swimming possible when evenings turn cooler. Even if you’re

not in the water daily, keeping it clean and the area tidy ensures your pool remains a relaxing focal point.

Style it for the Season

Autumn is the perfect excuse for small updates: solar lights, floating candles, all-weather rugs, or warm-toned accessories. These touches lift the mood for entertaining - or for enjoying a quiet moment by the water with a hot drink.
