Once a Saxon manor recorded in the Domesday Book, it then became a Monastery where monks helped pilgrims en-route to The Pilgrims’ Way on nearby St Martha’s-on-the-Hill. Since the late 17th Century, it has been a family home and when Lady Heald took over the house in 1946, the Manor became a focal point in the community with a range of charitable events. This connection with the local community continues today with a variety of

charity events, including the National Garden Scheme’s Open Garden series and Picnics and Pimms (now Picnics and Pinks) outdoor concerts. Chilworth Manor is open to visitors for these events, booking is essential. This is a beautiful place to visit and explore. The surrounding countryside is a haven for wildlife and birds and the vineyard is a founding member of the Sustainable Wines of Great Britain, established to encourage environmental sustainability in the UK wine industry. Whilst the outside of the sculpture remains the same, bespoke new interiors have been made for each venue, to highlight the garden

and building histories, geology and surrounding landscape. Looking into the interior of the meandering sculpture, is a diorama of natural and manufactured forms. As visitors walk around the sculpture, they can adjust the roof panels to illuminate the interior, peer through different viewpoints. At Winkworth Arboretum, the work responds to its location in the Boathouse next to Rowe’s Flashe (the lake), with a focus on water as a life-giving force for all species in the arboretum. In between the two ends of the sculpture, visitors can see a stone arch framing the entrance of regenerative shell grotto, and a fertile cave with fungi. With the ongoing advancement of urbanisation, Last Night For Ever, reminds us of the importance of nature and our fragile ecologies. The exhibition has been funded by University for the Creative Arts Research Funding and the National Trust. Andrea Gregson Biography Andrea Gregson is an artist, curator and Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at University for the Creative Arts, Farnham. From 1995-97 she received a Postgraduate Fellowship at the Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw, Poland and in 1998, an MA Fine Art, at Manchester Metropolitan University. In 2016, she was artist in residence at the University of East London supported by the Henry Moore Foundation. oin Simone Dill on one of the scheduled seasonal hikes, and you will not only have a guide to navigate, but will also learn about the local history and landscape from someone who is passionately knowledgeable about the Surrey Hills, and is an Ambassador for the North Downs Way. Back on Track also offer themed hikes in collaboration with other fabulous local businesses and Surrey Hills Enterprises members. Having had a career as a sprint hurdler in former East Germany, Simone found that retirement from an athletics career meant that she had begun to neglect her own body’s health and needs. It was the London Olympics which inspired her to get ‘back on track’, and the idea for the business was born. Her particular passion has become the cycle of the seasons – spending much of her time outdoors, Simone realised how much we benefit from living more in tune with the natural energies and seasonal changes throughout the year. She is excited to help others along their fitness journey as they too aim to optimise their movement.

his coming January, interior designers and collectors will be making their way to visit the annual London Antique Rug & Textile Art Fair (LARTA) when LARTA 2026 opens on the mezzanine of the Winter edition of The Decorative Fair in London’s Battersea Park. LARTA is the annual gathering for fine antique textile art, antique carpets, vintage rugs and associated works of art frequented by collectors and interior designers, as well as discerning members of the public seeking unique handmade floor and wallcoverings and textiles for their interiors and collections. Several past exhibitors have signed up to take part in LARTA 2026. Newcomers include Rug Specialist, from the USA and Turkey, bringing an

impressive selection of antique Caucasian prayer and tribal rugs and runners, amongst which is a museum quality Kuba rug, circa 1800, and a Sewan Kazak wedding rug from 1860. Dominic Orr is also exhibiting for the first time, a dealer and collector of tribal nomadic rugs, carpets and textiles from the Silk Road, Caucasus mountains, Anatolia, Persia, India, Europe and South America. Amongst the items Dominic is bringing to LARTA 2026 is an Afghan wool and goat hair saddle bag used by migrating nomads to carry their possessions, circa 1900. THE ROYAL WARRANT HOLDERS
F
rom luxury cars to painting & decorating, to horse feed to fine art and to soap, the Royal Warrant holders belong to a very special club. The history of the Royal Warrant can be traced back to medieval times, when competition for Royal favour was intense and the Monarch had the pick of the country’s best tradespeople. By the 15th century, the Lord Chamberlain, as head of the Royal Household, formally appointed tradespeople with a Royal Warrant of Appointment – a practice that continues to this day. A Royal Warrant of Appointment – A crest that states “By Appointment To…” is a mark of recognition of those who have supplied goods or services to the Royal Households for at least five years, and who have an ongoing trading arrangement.

The Monarch decides who may grant Royal Warrants. HM The King and Queen Camilla has since appointed HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Princess of Wales as Grantors of Royal Warrants, beginning in Spring 2026 when grants will be made to selected Royal Warrant holders. When the late Queen Elizabeth II sadly passed away, the circa 800 companies holding her royal stamp of approval had only two years remaining to display her coat of arms. With her son, King Charles III, settling into his role as monarch, it was only a matter of time before he unveiled his own selection of preferred companies – 145 were revealed in May 2024 with more announced in December 2024. Queen Camilla selected her favourites, too. The difference this time, however, is that the brands were drawn from Queen Elizabeth II’s existing pool. So King Charles has had the lovely task of reinstating brands as Royal Warrant holders – and the harsher task of stripping some brands of their seal of approval (including, most

notably, chocolate makers Cadbury). Each Royal Warrant Holder is entitled to display the coat of arms of Great Britain on its packaging and in its promotional products. The next round of applications for new Royal Warrants of Appointment to any one of the four Grantors will open in May and June 2026, when any eligible company may apply. Warrants are granted to a named individual within a company, known as the Grantee, who is responsible for the correct use of the relevant Royal Arms.

We’ve all been there. Ten-tabs deep in-flight options, hotel reviews, and “must-see” lists. Why does organising time away so often feel like a job in itself? We sat down with Carsten Lund, founder of TRIPLA, to hear why he believes travel should feel effortless, and how his own experiences have inspired a different approach. Q. Carsten, you’ve spent a lifetime travelling. What stands out most from those experiences? I’ve been lucky to see the world through both a luxury and practical lens, from barefoot escapes on private islands to cultural weekends in Europe, and even multi-generational cruises or villas. And what always stands out is how much detail matters. The transfer that’s waiting without fuss or the restaurant that actually lives up to its promise. It’s these little things that turn a good trip into a truly memorable one. Q. Many of us know the stress of planning holidays. What do you think makes it so challenging? Time, mostly. People are busy, and while travel should be restorative, organising it often isn’t. I’ve seen clients arrive exhausted before their holiday even begins because they’ve spent weeks trying to piece it all together online. One family I worked with wanted a milestone birthday in Tuscany. They’d been overwhelmed by villa choices and didn’t know which were genuinely right for them. We stepped in, found a villa with space for grandparents, teenagers, and young children, complete with a private chef for a celebratory meal and a private wine tasting. For them, it turned from a logistical headache into a celebration they’ll never forget.
Q. When we were chatting before this interview, you said luxury is about “ease.” What does that mean to you? To me, true luxury is when everything flows. That doesn’t always mean extravagant, but it does mean thoughtful. A wellness retreat in the Alps where transfers, spa treatments, and mountain hikes are seamlessly coordinated. Or a short city break where the flights, hotel, and a hard-to-get dinner reservation are already sorted. We do work with high-touch experiences, but it’s not about the price tag, it’s about removing stress and creating something that feels personal. Q. In your experience as a traveller and industry professional, have you noticed travel needs changing in recent years? Very much so. How to find the right therapist
S
tarting therapy is a very important decision. The world of therapy can feel overwhelming. There is no single “best” therapy. You have chosen to meet a new person and invite them to walk beside you through the next period of your life. So how do you find the right guide? How do you know that this therapist is someone with whom you can be vulnerable but still feel safe and protected? The relationship you have with your therapist is the most important factor in a successful therapeutic partnership. You will need to feel comfortable sharing experiences, both past and present. There are several factors involved when choosing a therapist. The first step is to ensure they are qualified, insured and belong to the relevant governing body such as UKCP, BACP or the BPS to name but a few. Often mental health charities can help or offer advice regarding the best therapists in your area. You can seek a referral through your GP or selfrefer to most private practitioners. Many therapists offer an initial telephone consultation. This gives you the opportunity to see how you feel while speaking to them. Ask them to explain how they work and the modality that they use. Some of the main ones are:

1. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Focuses on the link between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. 2. Psychodynamic / Psychoanalytic Therapy: Explores unconscious patterns, childhood, and relationships. 3. Humanistic / Person-Centred Therapy: Emphasises empathy, authenticity, and selfacceptance. 4. Integrative / Eclectic Therapy: Combines techniques from different modalities. 5. Trauma-Focused Approaches (e.g. EMDR, Somatic Therapy): Specialised methods to process trauma safely. Most importantly do you sense empathy, safety and a desire to help? Therapy is not a quick fix. Answers won’t come immediately. It is a journey rather than a destination. With the right guide you will become more fully aware of yourself. You will feel enabled, empowered, liberated and more able to live effectively with yourself and others. uxury rug specialist Bazaar Velvet has strengthened its ethical sourcing credentials through its continued partnership with GoodWeave International, ensuring all handmade rugs meet stringent fair-trade standards. Alongside this, the company has developed collections through a Turquoise Mountain Foundation initiative that supports Afghan women artisans working from home. Bazaar Velvet was founded 20 years ago by Christopher Mould and has since become known for producing bespoke, hand-knotted rugs for high-end residential and commercial interiors. Working from its London showroom, the business delivers commissions worth up to £85,000, with

lead times starting from 12 weeks. Mould began his career at Harrods at the age of 16, earning Trainee of the Year in 1989, before launching Bazaar Velvet with ethics and transparency embedded from day one. “It does keep me awake at night,” said Christopher. “I never want to exploit communities. Quality isn’t just about the materials and craftsmanship – it’s about knowing the people who create these pieces are treated with dignity and paid fairly. That’s been important to me throughout my 38 years in this industry.” The company maintains workshops in Nepal and India, sharing facilities to closely manage production quality and labour conditions. A percentage of revenue from each GoodWeave-

their homes and have since become part of the company’s permanent offering. “The beauty of it really is about empowering women back into the workforce,” says Mould. “Women are banned from working in public spaces in Afghanistan, and girls still can’t be educated. The mothers and their daughters can now weave in their own homes to provide extra income for their families.” Established by King Charles III in 2006, Turquoise Mountain Foundation works to preserve traditional crafts across several regions, including Afghanistan and the Levant. To date, it has trained over 11,500 artisans, supported 700 craft enterprises and generated $38 million in craft sales worldwide. All Bazaar Velvet rugs are audited by GoodWeave’s fair-trade partner, ensuring safe workplaces, fair wages and strict prohibition of child labour. Independent inspections confirm ongoing compliance in Nepal and across supplier sites in India. “We attract clients who understand that real luxury means knowing the story behind the piece – who made it, under what conditions, and whether their children are in school rather than at a loom,” added Mould. “Quality and ethics aren’t separate for us – they’re the same thing. That’s an important factor and always has been.” Approximately a year ago, Bazaar Velvet collaborated with the Turquoise Mountain Foundation in Afghanistan to create a new collection.
