IT Corner : Spam Texts

We are seeing an increase in spam text messages targeting employees. These messages are designed to trick you into clicking malicious links, sharing sensitive information, or downloading harmful software. Staying alert is one of the best ways to protect yourself and our organization.

Why Spam Texts Are Dangerous • • •

They may attempt to steal your passwords, verification codes, or financial information. They can install malware on your device if you click suspicious links. They often impersonate trusted sources like company leadership.

Common Warning Signs • • • • •

Unexpected messages asking for urgent action (“Act now,” “Account will be closed,” etc.). Requests for passwords, verification codes, or confidential information. Suspicious or shortened links. Messages from unknown or unusual phone numbers. Poor grammar, spelling errors, or generic greetings.

Do not click links or download attachments from unknown senders. Do not reply to suspicious messages. Never share passwords or multi-factor authentication codes. Report the message to IT immediately and delete it from your device.

What You Should Do

End the conversation with invitation, not escape. Instead of saying “ Anything else?” Say, “Is there anything else I can make easier for you?”

BLUEBERRY MUFFIN LOAF BURSTING WITH JUICY BERRIES AND THE COZY FLAVOR OF A FRESH-BAKED BAKERY FAVORITE.

BREAD INGREDIENTS: 3/4 cup sugar 1 1/2 cups flour 2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon vanilla 1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries

TOPPING INGREDIENTS: 1/4 cup sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt 1/3 cup oil 1 egg 1/3 cup milk

5 tablespoons flour 2 tablespoons butter cut into cubes 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon

DIRECTIONS: 1. Start by preheating the oven to 400 F. Line a loaf pan with parchment paper or spray with oil if you live life on the edge. 2. Mix dry ingredients, sugar included, in a large bowl. Mix wet ingredients in a separate bowl. Combine them both together. Then pour in the blueberries into the mixture. (I am kind of a degenerate who throws everything in the bowl and hopes it works. This works too but the blueberries do still come last.) Be gentle or it will be a mushy purple mess, I have learned 3. For the streusel, mix the ingredients until it becomes a crumbly paste. I personally spread it over the top evenly, but you can also crumble it over as well. I also definitely measured the butter with a spoon and not by cubes; as long as it is the right amount, you are set. 4. Then all you have to do is wait for it to bake for about 35-40 Minutes. I do halfway in between as I am at a higher altitude. Make sure the center is fully cooked by poking it with a toothpick or a knife by making sure nothing is on it when you pull it out of the middle.
