“It’s been the perfect home for entertaining with parties and dinner parties all year round,” reports the owner. “We had our wedding anniversary here with a giant marquee and stage setup in the walled garden, barbecues, summer dinner parties in the barn for over 30 family and friends who all stayed either in the house or camping in the belltents in the garden, and evenings just sat around the firepit with friends drinking cocktails. Christmas and New Year are always such special times being able to host all the family and decorate the house with a big tree; last year we even had carol singing in the barn.” “We also love to cook and the kitchen is perfect with so much space to make your own pasta, Sunday roasts, baking… and pancakes on a Saturday morning are a hit with our children - there’s nothing better that chatting round the kitchen table while one of us is cooking,” she divulges. Outside, the outbuildings allow even more space for more activities and give potential to develop them further (subject to planning). “When the pandemic happened in 2020, we were so lucky to have the grain store which I cleaned up into a studio so I could work from home; we were so lucky to have so much private outdoor space,” she enthuses. “My husband is an actor and musician so the dining room is presently set up as a music room for him whilst I use the drawing room as my office in the autumn and winter then move to the grain store in the spring and summer.” Under this granary reached by a series of external stone steps is an integrated garage, whilst separate to this is a long outbuilding once stabling offering all sorts of scope (STP), so too in the big separate barn in the far corner.

“Morton is a lovely village, with a bus that takes you to Peterborough via the villages where fast trains from Peterborough to London take 46 minutes,” she says. “Morton has a super pub, The Five Bells, a post office and a Co-Op that stocks all our local Lincolnshire produce. The fish & chip shop is a favourite on a Friday night and there is a village hall and a fete held every year on the high street.” Bourne is only a couple of miles away and boasts the co-ed state grammar school rated Outstanding by Ofsted. There are also state grammar schools in Spalding (the Grammar for boys rated Good and the High for Girls rated Outstanding). “Bourne has some lovely cafés and independent shops along with a great M&S, outdoor swimming pool/lido and a lovely Christmas and summer fair,” she continues. “We also love the Golding Young & Mawer auction rooms where you can snap up some great finds.

“Stamford and Lincoln are both on the doorstep, and we visit them often. We love to take a trip out to the coast - the beautiful beaches of Skegness are just over an hour’s drive away - and closer to home we love cycling and walking our dog in Bourne Woods.” Stamford and Lincoln both have excellent independent schools – the Stamford Endowed Schools and the Lincoln Minster Schools. “We have been and still are very happy here in The Old Farmhouse but both our children are now young adults and at university and planning on travelling, so the house is just too big for us now. We feel it really needs a new family to fully appreciate all it has to offer… it is a haven of bliss, a pure paradise in the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside … you can’t help but fall in love with this property… we did on our first viewing and were so lucky to get to own it!” she concludes.
