Our Premium Sensory Room Package includes a whole host of fascinating sensory room products for the users to interact with and ensures hours of fun learning. The package features: A 2m tall Interactive Bubble Tube with water treatment fluid and wall bracket. The bubble tube is supplied with a soft padded wireless switch, which features four coloured switch pads. When the user presses each of the colours, this dictates the colour of the tube. A 900 x 900 x 300mm high Cream Padded Plinth. The plinth sits around the base of the bubble tube to provide a comfortable seating area, should the users like to get up close to the tube itself. The UV Reactive Fibre Optic Harness supplied includes 100 strands at 3m long, along with a colour changing light source to allow the fibres to gently colour scroll. This reading scheme is designed for secondary students who have struggled to engage with literacy or who have gaps in their learning.
The Stories There are a series of high-interest, low-ability short stories in two versions – Easy and Standard. Books 1-10 progress from RA 5.5 to 6.2 in the easy versions and 6 to 7.2 in the standard versions, based on the Flesch-Kincaid Reading Levels. Two versions of the story allow for differentiation and enable more students to access whole-group work. The stories are set in a futuristic post-apocalyptic world where society has broken down. They follow two main characters, Travis and Spanna, as they battle to survive in a dangerous, unpredictable world. Each book continues the story on from the one before, which helps to maintain the students’ interest in reading and build up their enthusiasm for literacy. The stories develop in complexity and deal with key contemporary issues such as violence, bullying, gang-membership, risk-taking and love. Each story also contains a list of tricky words at the back to reinforce the more difficult vocabulary found in the book, and the number of words on each page is highlighted so students can record their progress and feel a sense of achievement as their fluency improves. Teacher’s books and accompanying CDs provide electronic versions of worksheets, monitoring sheets, records of progress, target sheets and certificates to help motivate and reward. Each reading book is A5 with 24 pages and black and white illustrations.
