Falastin Frames is the monthly fundraiser screening project run by the Falastin Film Festival, a volunteer-run, not-for-profit collective of Palestinians and allies dedicated to bringing Palestinian art to Scottish audiences.

Jenin, Jenin N/C 15 THU 8 JAN / Mohammad Bakri / Palestine 2003 / 54min / Arabic with English subtitles “Where is God?” an elderly man asks amid the ruins of Jenin refugee camp. The film includes testimony from Jenin residents after the zionist occupation’s Defensive Wall operation, which left the city devastated and many Palestinians dead. 120km N/C 12A THU 5 FEB / Waseem Khair / Lebanon / 2025 30min / Arabic with English subtitles In 2015, two Palestinian artists travelled to Lebanon for an artistic tour in Palestinian refugee camps and Beirut, one coming from an area under Israeli authority, and the other from an area under Palestinian authority. Both arrive at the camps in Lebanon, despite the Israeli authority’s prohibition from travelling there. The three week tour was enough for them to find themselves in a place that resembles them, raising questions, confusion and contradictions. Contains themes of displacement, occupation, and imprisonment

Nouvelle Vague FRI 30 JAN - THU 12 FEB The Nouvelle Vague was a film movement that emerged in the late 1950s in France, characterised by its rejection of traditional filmmaking conventions in favour of experimentation and personal expression. With the cinema release of Richard Linklater’s splendid Nouvelle Vague - which celebrates/ recreates the filming of Jean-Luc Godard’s seminal title of the French New Wave, Breathless (À bout de souffle, 1959) - we thought it might be fun to use the film to suggest a season of films to accompany our run of the film. We’ve chosen to take our lead from Mr Linklater and stick to film directors who are actually represented on screen in his film - including Godard himself, François Truffaut, Éric Rohmer, Claude Chabrol, Jacques Rivette, Agnès Varda, and several filmmakers not of the Nouvelle Vague but very much revered by it, such as Jean-Pierre Melville, Roberto Rossellini, Jean Cocteau and Robert Bresson.
