Greetings FIBC!

It’s been one month and my family and I are grateful that we are still striding together. As we continue to walk through this new season together, I remain filled with excitement and hope for what God has in store for our church family. I invite you to join me in prayer that this partnership will continue to grow and bear fruit as God is calling us to the Valley of the Sun and beyond. Thank you for the warm welcome and love you have shown to my wife and I as we continue to get to know one another.

As we look at the month of October and the rest of the year, I’m believing that we will finish 2025 strong, united, growing and walking in step with the Word of God. There is a place for you and your entire family at FIBC. I look forward to celebrating our men and boys on Men’s Sunday, October 12 and I will have a Word for everyone. This month also marks a time when we learn how to advocate for and support survivors of domestic violence, and Dr. Carolyn Watson will share information all month long. FIBCO Family Services, Inc. will host its annual Community Health Fair, with a special focus on prostate cancer awareness and free screenings. Finally, don’t forget we need candy donations and trunk decorators for our annual Trunk or Treat Festival on October 31.

Together, we will keep moving forward with purpose, striding in our faith and pressing toward all He has called us to do.

We are celebrating men of every generation this October as part of our annual Men’s Month, focusing on all the amazing work the men and boys of FIBC do each and every day to make ministry life at FIBC better

All year long, our men have been hard at work creating engaging opportunities and ministry moments for men of all ages. Whether your joined a Men’s Breakfast, attended the retreat or are gearing up for the upcoming fishing trip, there is something for every man, no matter your age or stage in life Let’s get ready to celebrate our men in an epic way!

Trunk or Treat Fall Festival Trunk or Treat Fall Festival

Our annual fall festival is back and we ’ re ready to welcome you to Trunk or Treat, taking place on Friday, October 31, from 6 p m - 8 p m There is something for everyone, no matter your age, we ’ re in need of trunkers and treaters

You can sign-up to decorate your trunk and hand out candy. Everyone in attendance gets to vote on their favorite trunk and of course there’s a bragging rights prize

You can donate candy by dropping off individually wrapped items on Sundays at the Sanctuary Welcome Center and during business hours in The Hope Center Lobby.

You can also sign-up to attend Trunk or Treat with your family.

Trunk or Treat is a great way for you to safely celebrate on October 31 You’re welcome to dress in costume, come out and enjoy our finally cool fall weather If you have questions about Trunk or Treat, contact Pastor Tommie or call the office

All praise goes to God, Father of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. He is the Father of compassion, the God of all comfort. He consoles us as we endure the pain and hardship of life so that we may draw from His comfort and share it with others in their own struggles.

Dear Church Family and Friends,

I greet you in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with a message of continued hope that one day, we will not see a month dedicated to alerting our members and indeed, our society, about the brutality and ever-increasing cases of domestic and family violence

In the midst of horrific and staggering statistics, we are challenged to help, encourage and pray for men and women who are injured by domestic and intimate partner abuse

Let’s look at some recent stats:

24 people per minute are victims of physical violence, rape, or stalking by an intimate partner in the U.S.

1 in 3 women and 1 in 10 men experience some form of physical violence by a partner in their lifetime.

Annually, domestic violence causes over 1,500 deaths and two million injuries in the U.S. Every day, nearly three women are killed by an intimate partner. A woman experiences physical abuse every nine seconds.

Close to 85% of domestic violence victims are women.

Please be aware that domestic and family violence traverses every economic status, as well as career distinction, levels of education, race, ethnicity and wealth

Each year in October, I look forward to bringing to our church and church community, renewed awareness and information regarding those affected by domestic violence As pastoral counselor, domestic violence issues surface in counseling sessions whether from personal or familial histories of violence.

I’VE GOT A TESTIMONY

Last October, this office received an invitation from the Men’s Sunday Bible Study class to present information to aid them in gaining a greater awareness on this subject They were an awesome group to spend time with discussing their views and experiences

This year ’ s theme, “I GOT A TESTIMONY”, focuses on the spirit of women who took a stand against abuse, gathered their strength to leave and in the aftermath, becoming a survivor and now they have a TESTIMONY!

These women recognized that their strength was multiplied by the strength that came from others who having had a few unkind journeys themselves, reached back to pull someone else to a safe space. That is what the Apostle Paul teaches us in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4. Thursday, October 16th is Purple Thursday, a day that you wear or carry any item that is purple which is the national and international color for recognizing this push to more and more awareness.

Sunday, October 26, please wear or carry an item of purple as we would like to flood the sanctuary with all that is purple

Remember, the month of October is just one month in a year, and these are just two days of special awareness, but let’s be clear, domestic violence is taking place every single day, every single hour that we breathe

Won’t you join us this October and if you have a testimony, let me know. God loves you with an abundant love. Be encouraged, God is near. He never fails. Never.
