FGCU Academy is the university’s and southwest Florida’s premier lifelong learning program for adults, seniors and retirees. It is based on the premise that learning should never cease; that keeping the mind intellectually, creatively and culturally active fundamentally enriches and invigorates our lives. There are no grades, exams or homework, just learning for the joy of learning.
Academy programs:
• emphasize the joy of learning by highlighting the personal fulfillment, intellectual stimulation, and sense of achievement that comes from sharing knowledge, discussing important ideas and concepts and learning new things.
• promote social engagement and provide opportunities for building connections, friendships, and a sense of belonging within a community of like-minded individuals.
• are part of an active and fulfilling retirement. They promote mental acuity, physical well-being, and a vibrant lifestyle. Academy participants seek knowledge, inspiration, creativity and good health.
