JANUARY 2023
2022 YEAR END
NEWSLETTER
As I look back on the second half of 2022, and reflect on the work that The Fund for Santa Barbara has accomplished, I can’t help but feel a great sense of pride and and gratitude for our work, and the ways in which we are actively co-conspiring with partners, groups, and individuals to make our vision of a more equitable and just Santa Barbara County a reality. I feel immensely inspired by our FUND community, comprised of a vastly diverse group of individuals who all demonstrate an active commitment to building movements for progressive change. In the second half of 2022, our community came together for Bread & Roses, Central Coast Regional Equity Initiative community conversations, and our Fall Grant Awards Celebrations — each of these occasions filled me and our FUND team with a deep sense of hope for the future. Our work is made possible because of the tireless commitment of our staff, the leadership of our Board of Directors, the vision and determination of our activist-led Grant Making Committee, the innovation of our Youth Making Change cohorts, the ceaseless support of our donors, the foundations that fund our efforts, and the critical work and passion of our grantees and partner organizations. On behalf of the whole FUND team, I invite you to learn about the work that we at The FUND carried out in the second half of 2022.
In Solidarity,
Marcos Vargas, PhD Executive Director
