FOREWORD
A warm welcome to this week’s newsletter! Thank you to those who read last week’s inaugural edition The overwhelmingly positive response you showed me meant the world to me
So, this week’s issue is a bit longer since there’s a lot to report on It was a long weekend after all: from g setting foot for the fi osebank
Before the long weekend came, I made sure to go to the gym since I knew it would be hard to go during the weekend, and I was right. So, I have included an article about that in the fitness section
Also featured, is an exclusive interview with Tshepo Monyamane who is a personal trainer at Zone Fitness gym He shared with me his fascinating journey of how he got into fitness and training and what his future career plans are.
Do enjoy this week’s newsletter Until next time
Happy reading!

Weekend Update: Human Rights Day Report
MAI MAI IS FULL OF LIFE!
What a lively and eventful long weekend it was The interesting asp p g y ai Mai and wrapping up the weekend on Sunday at Pantry by Marble in Rosebank That afforded me a chance to compare and contrast these two different spaces
I have been to Mai Mai before It’s a vibrant place that is full of life, especially on a special day like the 21st of March, when everyone is there to vibe and, of course, fill their stomachs with that tasty meat It’s because of that meat that people keep going back It doesn’t matter which stall you order from Those hard-working women are consistent in making their shisanyama perfect I dare say Mai Mai has the best shisanyma in the country Besides the food, it’s the people there that make the place lively Hustlers are buzzing everywhere to sell you all sorts of stuff I ended up buying a cover and a screen protector for my phone Mai Mai is also not short of entertainment I was particularly thrilled by this short fella in a black hat who impersonated Michael Jackson
THE PANTRY IS PERFECT FOR ICE CREAM DATES!
On the other side, the Pantry by Marble is quite the opposite of Mai Mai It was my first time there Whereas Mai Mai is full of life everywhere with Maskandi songs blasting through speakers from every corner, Pantry is quite the opposite You have to look closer to catch life’s sweet moments, like an elderly couple I saw that was enjoying ice cream in their car
We didn’t stay long at Pantry after buying ice cream, but I liked it, and I am planning to go back there again.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with TROYBEAST
Dropped out of varsity and became a stripper so he could pay his tuition fees. That is just a part of Tshepo’s journey to becoming one of the most dedicated personal trainers around
Tshepo Monyamane (30) AKA Troybeast5 on Tik Tok has come a long way since he started playing ruby in High school We sat down together on Saturday over drinks and hubbly I was interested in knowing how he became a personal trainer
After starting rugby and sustaining injuries, Tshepo tells me how he quickly realised that he needed to bulk up He was very skinny back then He must have done everything right because, years later, he was still playing rugby in university He studied in Cape Town, where he had to drop out in his second year, as I also did initially when I was pursuing a degree in LLB, because of financial issues Being a hustler that he is, Tshepo chose the unlikeliest side hustle of them all and became a stripper in one of the nightclubs in End Street That helped him go back to varsity He finally graduated and earned his degree in Sports Sciences He went on to open his gym but, unfortunately, had to close it because of COVID Tshepo
