5 Tips to Help You Find Your First Summer Job Think Community: Community pools, recreation centers, libraries and more typically hire seasonally, which means lots of open summer positions. Consider YOUR Future: What do you want to be when you grow up? If you want to be a teacher, try camp counseling or babysitting. If you want to want to be in the medical field, consider lifeguarding. Practice Makes Perfect: Practice your interviewing with a family member or friend. Ask for feedback so you can work on responding to questions, hand shakes and eye contact. Prepare a Resume: You may have more experience than you think. Create a resume with previous classes you’ve taken, extra curricular activities and volunteer work. References Can Go a Long Way: Ask family friends and teachers for a reference. Businesses reach out to your references because they truly KNOW you as an individual. Plus, it’s nice to have people say nice things about you!
