CREDIT CORNER Financial Preparedness During Hurricane Season Hurricane season is upon us. Predictions state that we will have a return to a near normal season, but hurricanes have a mind of their own so make sure you are prepared to protect your home, cars, and other possessions. And don’t forget about protecting your household finances in the event of a disaster. Hard-to-replace documents should be put in a safe deposit box at FCCU or a fireproof box in your home. Safe Deposit Boxes are available at all of our traditional branch locations for as little as $20 per year. Make sure your important documents and valuables are safe including: – automobile title(s) – birth & death certificates – passports – property deeds – education degrees – marriage documents – military records – older tax records, and – inventory of your household possessions - a photographed or videotaped record of major household items and valuables. In a fireproof box at home, it is recommended you keep recent tax records, insurance policies, power of attorney, an extra copy of your will and warranties. TIP: Make sure a relative or friend has access to your safekeeping boxes in case of an emergency. Just in case we should get it, start preparing now!

Budgeting is not necessarily a restrictive task. It isn’t all about telling yourself “NO” all the time.
