Beyond the Box Scores MESSAGE FROM RICHARD LAZAROU, ATHLETIC DIRECTOR The 2025-26 athletic year was a season of growth, achievement, and Kingdom impact for Fort Bend Christian Academy Athletics. Guided by our purpose to glorify God and enjoy Him through FBCA Athletics, our coaches and student-athletes demonstrated what it means to pursue excellence while honoring Christ in competition, in the classroom, and in the community. This year was highlighted by significant team and individual accomplishments across many sports. Football, volleyball, basketball, and softball all advanced to postseason play, competing at a high level while representing FBCA with excellence and integrity. Our cross country and tennis programs qualified for state competition, showcasing the dedication and perseverance of our student-athletes throughout the year. In addition, our cheer and dance teams proudly represented FBCA on the state stage, demonstrating their commitment, teamwork, and school spirit. One of the year's defining achievements came during the spring season when the FBCA girls track & field team reclaimed the TAPPS 5A State Championship. Led by Head Coach Deon Minor, the Eagles secured the program's fourth state title in the last five seasons, further cementing FBCA's reputation as one of the premier track and field programs in Texas. The year also brought outstanding individual recognition. Jamison Louie earned the distinction of being named the TAPPS Female Golfer of the Year, a tremendous honor that reflects her commitment, character, and excellence both on and off the course. While championships, playoff appearances, and awards are worth celebrating, the heart of FBCA Athletics extends beyond wins and losses. Our vision is to use athletics as a vehicle to form Bible-based, Christ-centered leaders. Throughout the year, coaches invested in athletes through discipleship, prayer, mentorship, and daily encouragement. These intentional relationships helped student-athletes grow not only in their sport, but also in their faith, leadership, and ability to serve others. As we reflect on the 2025-26 school year, we are grateful for God's faithfulness and the unwavering support of our coaches, parents, Booster Club, faculty, staff, administration, and school community. Together, we remain committed to our mission of discipling athletes off the field so that on the field they can play with excellence and love their neighbors well, and then be sent into the world as Biblebased decision-makers and Christ-centered leaders. As we look ahead to the future, we celebrate what God has accomplished through FBCA Athletics and eagerly anticipate the opportunities He will provide in the years to come.

Richard Lazarou

“

In the end, it's all for His glory, and we're all just here to be a team, play together, and have fun.

JAMISON

United States Naval Academy Midshipman - Three Time TAPPS 5A State Champion - Class of 2026 Valedictorian Fort Bend Christian Academy golfer Jamison Louie has built one of the most accomplished careers in school history for the girl’s golf program.

Off the course, Jamison has made a lasting impact on our school community. She was named the FBCA Class of 2026 Valedictorian. She held several leadership roles in oncampus clubs and organizations, including president of the National English Honor Society, president of the National Social Studies Honor Society, vice president of the Computer Science National Honor Society, vice president of the National Art Honor Society, secretary of the National Math Honor Society, and liaison for the Science National Honor Society. She was also a member of the National Spanish Honor Society for all four years.

Training Tips for Peak Performance

After finishing as the state runner-up her freshman year, Louie captured three consecutive TAPPS state championships to complete her Upper School career all while preparing for the next stage of her academic, athletic, and personal journey. Reflecting on her time at Fort Bend Christian Academt, Louie said her greatest lesson has extended far beyond golf. "Honestly, it's just taking time to live in the moment and not focus too much on details that don't matter," Louie said. "In the end, it's all for His glory, and we're all just here to be a team, play together, and have fun." That perspective has helped guide Louie through the ups and downs of one of the most mentally demanding sports. Golf's challenges are constant, she said, requiring resilience and the ability to move forward after setbacks. "Golf itself is the epitome of difficulty," Louie said. "Sometimes it gets really hard not to give up. Learning not to linger on what's been done wrong or what could have gone better is important to help you move forward." Louie's success on the course led to another major milestone: signing to continue her golf career at the United States Naval Academy. The decision was influenced by both family and a desire to serve something larger than herself. "I have a close family friend who is on active duty, and I've always wanted to serve and give back to my country for what they've given my family and the opportunities I've been given in my life so far," Louie said. While her collegiate future is now set, Louie remains open-minded about where her longterm career path may lead. Though professional golf remains a possibility, she will be studying Cyber Operations and pursuing interests that extend beyond athletics. Throughout her journey, Louie credits much of her growth to the support system that has surrounded her from an early age. "I'd say my parents mainly," Louie said when asked who has been her greatest source of motivation. "I'm very grateful to have such a supportive group backing me up. I've always been super competitive, and they've helped me keep it in check and learn how to use those feelings as a drive and motivation to get things done."

Jamison has defined her time at FBCA as one that has shaped her academically and spiritually. Whether completing rigorous coursework or working alongside classmates in service projects during Eagle Week, she has grown as a student and person. “For much of my academic journey, I viewed success primarily through academic performance. FBCA has helped me understand that true success comes from the person you become through the process of learning, not just the grades you earn,” Jamison said. “FBCA has never failed to challenge me all four years of upper school, and for that I am so grateful. It has taught me how to balance high expectations and focus on meaningful growth as a learner. I’ve also had the opportunity to learn more about Jesus and see how much He really has been working in my life.” Along with her state championships, Jamison has also earned many academic and athletic awards: Honors World History Academic Excellence Award, 9th grade; Spanish 3 Academic Excellence Award, 9th grade; Honors Spanish 4 Academic Excellence Award, 10th grade; AP US History Academic Excellence Award, 11th grade; AP Calculus Academic Excellence Award, 11th grade; AP Statistics Academic Excellence Award, 12th grade; Honors Apologetics Academic Excellence Award, 12th grade; VYPE 2023 Golf Player of the Year, 9th grade; AP Scholar with Honor, 10th grade; VYPE 2025 Golf Player of the Year, 11th grade; AP Scholar with Distinction, 11th grade; 2025 College Board School National Recognition Award, 12th grade; National Merit Honorable Mention 12th grade; VYPE 2026 Golf Player of the Year, 12th grade. Louie approaches every challenge with faith, determination, and a commitment to continual growth.

COACHES’ CORNER

Ondra Waddy and Edwin Maysonet reflect on their first year at FBCA The 2025–2026 season was one of the most memorable of my coaching career, as it marked my first year at Fort Bend Christian Academy and my inaugural season leading a program in the TAPPS conference. I was blessed to inherit three outstanding seniors—Dylan, Sean, and Charlie—who welcomed me and our coaching staff from day one. Their leadership, experience, and commitment to excellence helped establish a strong foundation for our program. I am grateful to them and every varsity player for their trust, hard work, and dedication. While our 20-win season and TAPPS Class 5A Regional Finals appearance were tremendous accomplishments, I am most proud of how our players responded to adversity. Throughout the year, we faced injuries, illnesses, personal loss, and other challenges that tested our faith and perseverance. Our team embraced James 1:2–4 as our season verse, learning that trials can strengthen character, resilience, and faith in God. Our battle cry, “Together, We Will,” became more than a slogan—it became who we were. Through every challenge, these young men grew as teammates, leaders, and followers of Christ. Thank you to our student-athletes, parents, coaches, and fans for your unwavering support. The future of Eagles Basketball is bright. In Christ, Coach Waddy Boys Basketball Head Coach

My first year at Fort Bend Christian Academy has been an incredible blessing. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed into a community that truly invests in its students and studentathletes. It has been an honor to lead the baseball program and begin building a culture centered on faith, accountability, discipline, and excellence. This season was about much more than wins and losses. Our players embraced the challenge of growing as teammates, competitors, and young men of character. Their commitment and hard work were reflected in the success they achieved both individually and as a team, including multiple All-District selections and an All-State honoree. These accomplishments are a testament to the dedication of our players, the support of our families, and the commitment of our coaching staff. As we continue to build the program, our focus remains on developing young men who honor Christ, compete with integrity, and pursue excellence in everything they do. We are laying a foundation that emphasizes character, servant leadership, and a commitment to continual growth on and off the field. I am grateful for the unwavering support of our administration, faculty, parents, alumni, and players throughout this first year. I am excited about the future of FBCA Baseball and look forward to seeing how God continues to work through our program in the years ahead. Edwin Maysonet Baseball Head Coach

TRACK & FIELD DYNASTY

A Legacy of Excellence Over the past five seasons, Fort Bend Christian Academy Track & Field has established itself as one of the premier private school track programs in Texas.Through faith, hard work, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, FBCA athletes and coaches have produced one of the most successful stretches in school history. From 2022–2026, the Eagles captured multiple District, Regional and TAPPS State Championships while producing state record holders, national-caliber performances, and some of the most accomplished athletes ever to compete in Texas high school track & field. Standout athletes from this era elevated the program to unprecedented heights, setting new standards of excellence while earning recognition at the state and national levels. Leading this remarkable run, Head Coach Deon Minor was named TAPPS 5A Coach of the Year three times during the five-year span (2022, 2023, and 2025), a reflection of the program's sustained championship culture and commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the track. The impact of this historic period extends far beyond championships. During the 2022–2026 stretch, 10 FBCA track and field athletes earned

Foundation of a Dynasty opportunities to compete at the collegiate level, including nine NCAA Division I signees and one NCAA Division II signee: George Obote – Baylor University, Noah Brooks – University of Houston / Texas Southern University, Brooke Coleman – United States Air Force Academy, Gabbie Washington – University of Tulsa, Bayleigh Minor – University of Texas, Elijah Savage – Sam Houston State University, Brooke Perry – University of Texas at Arlington, Kennesha Nabors – Texas Southern University, Skye Shell – Texas Southern University, Charles Molloy – Dallas Baptist University The 2026 season marked another milestone for the program, as five athletes signed collegiate track and field scholarships in a single year—the most in program history. This achievement further highlights the school’s commitment to developing student-athletes who excel at the highest levels of competition while preparing for success beyond FBCA. This era of excellence has solidified Fort Bend Christian Academy's reputation as one of the premier track and field programs in Texas, leaving a legacy defined by championship performances, college advancement opportunities, elite individual achievement, and a standard of excellence that will inspire future generations of Eagles.

The 2022 season marked a defining moment in Fort Bend Christian Academy Track & Field history and laid the foundation for one of the most successful periods the program has ever experienced. At the TAPPS 5A State Championships in Waco, Texas, the FBCA Girls Track & Field Team captured the Girls State Championship, scoring an impressive 138 points. The Eagles dominated the meet, with freshman Bayleigh Minor winning five gold medals and the boys team producing multiple individual and relay champions. The performance signaled the arrival of a program that would soon become a statewide powerhouse.

Historic Breakthrough The 2023 season was one for the ages and remains one of the greatest seasons in FBCA history. The Girls Track & Field team captured its third TAPPS State Championship in school history while the Boys Track & Field team made school history by winning the program's firstever State Championship. Together, the Eagles accomplished the rare "Trifecta”, winning Boys and Girls District, Regional, and State Championships.

A message from Coach Deon Minor The Eagles once again completed the coveted trifecta by winning District, Regionals and State. What made this achievement even more remarkable was the team's youthfulness. With only three seniors and five newcomers in major scoring roles, the team demonstrated tremendous growth, resilience, and competitive maturity throughout the season. The 2026 season reinforced the culture that has become synonymous with Fort Bend Christian Academy Track & Field:

For the second consecutive year, Bayleigh Minor was named TAPPS Athlete of the Meet, earning four gold medals and one bronze medal.

Faith. Hard Work. Commitment. Excellence.

The Girls Team captured its fourth State Championship and third consecutive title while sweeping the District, Regional, and State Championships for the second straight year. "The success of FBCA Track & Field has never been about trophies alone. It has been about developing young men and women of character, faith, discipline, and excellence. I am grateful for the athletes, coaches, parents, and supporters who have helped build something truly special. Together, we have created a championship culture that honors God, serves others, and pursues excellence in everything we do. The future of FBCA Track & Field has never been brighter." I am deeply honored and humbled to be named the TAPPS 5A Male Coach of the Year three times in five years. First and foremost, I want to thank God for His unwavering grace, guidance, and strength throughout this journey. Without His hand over my life and this calling, none of this would be possible. This award is not just a personal achievement, it's a reflection of the incredible athletes I've had the privilege to coach, the dedicated staff who support our mission and the families and community who believe in what we're building together here at FBCA. To my fellow coaches, thank you for challenging me to grow and for pushing the standard of excellence every day. To my athletes, you inspire me more than you know. Your commitment, heart, and resilience fuel everything I do. I'm grateful for this recognition, but even more thankful for the platform to impact young lives. I give all the glory to God for this blessing and I pray I continue to lead in a way that honors Him.

REESE

HEFLIN For Reese Heflin, softball has never been just a game. Since picking up a glove at five years old, the sport has become one of the defining parts of her life, providing not only countless memories on the field but also friendships and life lessons that will remain long after her final season at FBCA. "I love the game because of the lifelong friendships I've made and the experiences it's given me," Reese said. "Softball has taught me so much about teamwork and perseverance." Throughout her athletic career, one lesson has remained constant. "Nothing is given—you have to work for everything you earn." It's a message her coaches reinforced throughout the years, and one that has shaped the way she approaches every practice, workout, and game. "If I want to achieve my goals, I know it will take dedication, discipline, and hard work," she said. "That's a mindset I'll carry with me into college and throughout the rest of my life." As one of the team's seniors, Reese viewed leadership as more than simply setting the example herself. Knowing her time at FBCA was coming to a close, she focused on preparing the next generation of Eagles to carry the program forward. "I wanted the underclassmen to feel confident stepping into leadership roles," Reese explained. "Instead of always taking charge, I encouraged them to lead drills, communicate with the team, and take on more responsibility." Her investment wasn't just about winning games this season—it was about ensuring the program would continue to thrive after graduation. Among the many memories she'll take with her, one stands above the rest. A hard-fought road victory over LSA. "We hadn't beaten them on their home field in a long time," Reese recalled. "It was such a competitive game, and everyone played together so well." Ironically, her favorite moment didn't happen between the foul lines. "The bus ride home afterward was the best part," she said. "We were all celebrating together and just so excited. That's a memory I'll always cherish." Heflin has be honored with a multitude of accolades including: TAPPS 1st Team All-District (’23, ’24, ’25, ’26), 1st Team All-State (’25, ’26), 2nd Team All-State (’23, ’24), Academic All-State, VYPE Player of the Year Finalist (’26), Greater Houston Pitcher of the Year. Away from softball, Reese enjoys spending time with friends and family while staying active through regular workouts. As she prepares for the next chapter of her athletic and academic journey at East Texas Baptist University, Reese leaves behind more than wins and statistics. Her greatest contribution may be the example she set for those who follow—a reminder that leadership isn't measured by titles or accolades, but by the confidence you inspire in others. For Reese Heflin, that's a legacy that will continue long after the final out.

ELIJAH

SAVAGE Some athletes discover their passion from the very beginning. For Elijah Savage, the journey looked a little different. When he joined cross country in sixth grade, it wasn't because he had dreams of becoming a state champion. His parents encouraged him to participate as a way to meet people after transferring to Fort Bend Christian Academy. "I'll be honest," Elijah admitted. "I didn't enjoy it at first." Running wasn't something that came naturally. Like many young athletes, the early years were filled with challenges and learning experiences. But over time, something changed. As he entered upper school, discipline replaced hesitation, and perseverance transformed into passion. "Coming into upper school, I grew more disciplined, and that allowed me to enjoy the sport much more," he said. "Today I love cross country and track because of the diverse community these sports provide." That commitment ultimately produced one of the most decorated distance-running careers in FBCA history. In the spring, Elijah captured the 2026 TAPPS 5A State Championship in the 3200-meter run, achieving a goal he had set for himself as a freshman. "I told myself during my freshman year that I'd win that race by my senior season," he said. Standing atop the podium fulfilled a fouryear vision, but Elijah's first thoughts weren't about himself. "The only thing I wish had been different was having some of the distance runners there with me," he reflected. "They were always so supportive and the first ones to celebrate my accomplishments." That team-first attitude defined Elijah's senior season. Rather than simply leading by example, he intentionally built relationships throughout the program, organizing team runs, social gatherings, and activities that helped teammates connect beyond practices and competitions. His coaches also challenged him to step outside of his comfort zone, encouraging him to compete in new events and embrace unfamiliar opportunities. "One of the biggest lessons I learned this year was to always be willing to take a leap of faith," he said. By graduation, Elijah had rewritten the FBCA record book, setting school records in the 2000-meter steeplechase (6:07), 3200-meter run (9:17), and 5,000-meter run (15:33). Other accomplishments include: TAPPS 5A Boys 3200m State Champion (’26), Cross Country State Runner-Up (’25), 3200m State Bronze Medalist (’25), Cross Country State Bronze Medalist (’24), 1st Team All-State Cross Country (’24, ’25), Six-time USATF All-American, Five-time District Champion, Two-time VYPE Runner of the Year Finalist, FBCA Track MVP, and Four-time FBCA Cross Country MVP. Away from competition, he enjoys spending time with friends, whether bowling, watching movies, or tackling escape rooms. He’s also an accomplished pianist, having played for nearly twelve years; he enjoys cooking and baking and can often be found reading whenever he has a quiet afternoon at home. As Elijah prepares for the next chapter of his athletic and academic journey at Sam Houston State University, he leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, leadership, and genuine investment in those around him.

“

One of the biggest lessons I learned this year was to always be willing to take a leap of faith.

EAGLES ACROSS BORDERS FBCA Student-Athletes Make an Impact in Poland During Eagle Week 2026 Eagle Week 2026 took Fort Bend Christian Academy student-athletes far beyond the boundaries of competition, providing an opportunity to combine athletic excellence, spiritual growth, and international ministry in partnership with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Europe.

During the week, members of the Eagles Varsity Volleyball Team participated in a girls volleyball tournament, while the Varsity Boys Basketball Team competed in a basketball tournament as part of the ministry outreach efforts. These events provided opportunities for athletes to showcase their skills while building relationships and encouraging fellow competitors.

Traveling to Kraków, Poland, members of the FBCA community joined FCA Europe for a week of sports outreach designed to engage local students and families through meaningful relationships and faith-centered activities. Through volleyball and basketball competitions, tournaments, and FCA huddles, participants used sports as a platform to build connections and share encouragement with young athletes throughout the region.

According to Andriy Kravtsov, North Global Divisional Vice President for FCA Europe, the collaboration between Fort Bend Christian Academy and FCA Poland represents a valuable example of how sports ministry can unite people across cultures and communities. Kravtsov praised the partnership and its commitment to developing young leaders through faith, service, and athletics.

The outreach experience extended well beyond the court. Student-athletes participated in intentional athletic training, discipleship opportunities, leadership development, and cultural immersion experiences that broadened their understanding of both ministry and global engagement. Throughout the week, students were challenged to grow as competitors, leaders, and followers of Christ while learning how sports can serve as a powerful tool for influence and service.

For many students, the experience proved transformational. Whether competing in tournaments, participating in discipleship training, or connecting with local families, Eagle Week reinforced the idea that athletics can be a powerful avenue for ministry and personal growth. The trip challenged participants to step outside their comfort zones, embrace new cultural experiences, and develop a deeper understanding of servant leadership.

A key component of the partnership was the implementation of E3 Discipleship Training, a framework designed to strengthen coaches, athletes, and ministry leaders through intentional faith development and leadership formation. The training equipped participants with practical tools for discipleship while reinforcing the importance of living out their faith both in competition and everyday life.

As Fort Bend Christian Academy continues its partnership with FCA Europe, Eagle Week 2026 stands as a testament to the school's mission of developing student-athletes who lead with character, compete with excellence, and impact the world for Christ. Through sports, discipleship, and service, students returned home with more than memories of international competition. They returned with a renewed sense of purpose and a greater understanding of how faith and athletics can work together to transform lives both on and off the court.

The ongoing partnership between Fort Bend Christian Academy and FCA Europe continues to create opportunities for meaningful impact.

BOOSTER CLUB Celebrating a Year of Supporting FBCA Athletics By Scott Sette FBCA Athletic Booster Club President The Fort Bend Christian Academy Athletic Booster Club is proud to celebrate another successful year of supporting our student athletes, coaches, and the entire FBCA athletic community. Our mission centers on two priorities: assisting the school in raising funds that directly support our student athletes and coaches, and creating events and experiences that build school spirit and strengthen community engagement around our athletic teams. Over the past three years, the Booster Club has been honored to contribute directly to every sport across our Middle School and Upper School campuses, supporting both boys and girls athletics. We have also provided support to our Athletic Training and Facilities departments, recognizing the important role these teams play in creating a safe, well-equipped environment for our student athletes. We are proud of the breadth of our impact and remain committed to supporting the needs of our entire athletic program. Several significant projects highlighted the past year. First, the Booster Club partnered with the school to renovate and upgrade the weight room, providing our athletes with an improved facility for strength and conditioning. Also, we hosted our third annual Booster Club Golf Tournament, which continues to grow in both player participation and profitability each year. In addition, the Booster Club approved a project to transform the Field House breezeway into a functional training space that can be used in all weather conditions. The project features premium athletic turf with FBCA branding and retractable garage doors. Building school spirit and community engagement remains equally important. This year, we introduced halftime contests that gave students opportunities to win prizes, including field goal kicking at football games and 3-point shooting at basketball games. We also added Swoop Club base running at baseball and softballgames and a kids’ sprint race at track meets. Additionally, the Booster Club provided playoff shirts for every qualifying team, pizza and snacks for students at select games, and championship rings for players and coaches of State Championship teams. As we enter a new school year, we are thrilled that Memorial Hermann will serve as the Presenting Sponsor of the Booster Club for the fourth consecutive year. We are equally grateful to the more than 120 businesses and families who have supported our initiatives. Their generosity allows us to continue investing in our athletes, celebrating their accomplishments, and building a stronger FBCA community.

WEIGHT ROOM RENOVATION Investing in the Future of FBCA Student Athletes By Scott Sette FBCA Athletic Booster Club President The Fort Bend Christian Academy Athletic Booster Club is committed to investing in projects that directly impact the wellness, performance, and development of our student athletes. We can think of no better example of that commitment than the recent renovation of the Field house weight room. This facility will serve as an important asset for student athletes across all FBCA campuses and will support the development of our athletic programs for many years. Weight training plays an important role in developing speed, agility, strength, and overall athletic performance. It also contributes to injury prevention and helps athletes develop the discipline, consistency, and commitment that are essential to achieving success both on and off the field. By providing our student athletes with a first class training environment, we are investing not only in their athletic development, but also in the character and habits that will serve them throughout their lives.

The renovation transformed a congested space with antiquated equipment into a collegiate-level strength and conditioning facility. The redesigned weight room features state-of-the-art rack systems, new professional-grade weights and premium flooring (both featuring FBCA branding), and a contemporary audio system that creates an energetic training environment. This investment will benefit our current student athletes, while also helping FBCA attract prospective student athletes and their families. The new weight room demonstrates our commitment to excellence in athletics and serves as a meaningful differentiator among peer institutions, further positioning FBCA as a premier college preparatory academy. We are deeply grateful to the businesses and families whose generous support made this impactful investment possible by giving to either FBCA's Annual Fund or the Athletic Booster Club.

MIDDLE SCHOOL Greater Houston Athletic Conference (GHAC) 2025-2026 AWARDS

Gold Volleyball Team District Champions

What a season! The 2025 Middle School Gold volleyball team was not just number one in the district; they were undefeated for the season. These girls gave all they had day in and day out and it showed on the court. We even had a game where we didn't allow even one point to be scored by the other team. That is teamwork at its best! -Venita Granere, Head Volleyball Coach

Girls Tennis District Runner-Up

The first year of middle school golf was a tremendous success. Tournaments created new competitive experiences for both boys and girls! The first year began laying a great foundation for what could be the start to something special. It is my hope we will have greater female participation going forward so that more young women can experience the thrill of tournament golf! -John Grover, Head Golf Coach
