“I love this project for so many reasons. Shooting with Derrall in a tiny black room in 100°F heat while smoking a j, dripping sweat, while hotboxing and having your portrait taken was worth every salty sweat drip. This photography archive project celebrates the people of cannabis and humanizes cannabis culture. Pop culture and propaganda projects one version of cannabis smokers, but when you look thru the portrait galleries, you see a diverse spectrum of real humans who love the plant. Smoke curls around the faces, and the viewer can take in the beauty of the "amoatati" -- messages in the sacred smoke.”
